The group of duelist had gathered in front of Reiji on the bridge, each looking at the master of puppets, some of them were outraged, some of them were confused, and one (Sawatari) was happy that they pleased Reiji.
"What all of this really just a test?! Did you know from the start that Academia would invade the Battle Royal?!" Yuya demanded to know.
"Yes, I knew." Reiji said turning his back to the group. "That is why I changed the Junior Youth Class' round 3 to a Battle Royal. I was hoping that you would all use your evolved dueling to vanquish the Fusion Dimension's forces."
"E-Evolved dueling...?" Yuya said. "Why our class? Why not the Youths, or even the pros?"
"They were chosen. They were all beaten." Sawatari explained.
"They were?!" Gongenzaka said shocked.
"That's why Reiji sent me in to help you all." Sawatari added.
"As I had hoped, you succeeded in defending our dimension. You truly are our Anti-Academia duel warriors. You are all worthy of the title Lancers." Reiji said with a smile as he looked at the group.
"Screw that!"
Everyone gasped as Yuya looked down with his fists clenched after the outburst. "Who cares about your Lancers?! Michio...Teppei...and many others...were turned into cards!"
"You don't know...?"
"Know what?! Stop playing games with me!"
"Your friends...they have been defeated by Academia." Reiji said. 'This is necessary. This is the only way I can push him to his limits.'
"...what...no...no...NO! You are lying!" Yuya shouted.
"There is no way Yuto was...!" Shun said. This had to be a lie. There is no way his best friend was carded. He was too strong...right?
"Yuto, Yugo, Yuzu..." Gongenzaka said as tears began to shed from his eyes while Mieru comforted him.
"YOU DAMN BASTARD! YOU ARE LYING!" Yuya shouted in disbelief. "AND IT'S YOUR FAULT THAT EVERYONE ELSE WERE CARDED!"
"It isn't Reiji's fault, it's mine." Serena said with a sad tone as everyone turned to her.
"What do you mean?" Gongenzaka questioned.
"Yeah! And who are you anyway?" Sawatari added.
"I'm Serena, a duelist from Academia." Serena admitted.
"Academia?! Doesn't that make you our enemy?!" Sawatari exclaimed.
'There she goes admitting it right off the bat. I thought I could quietly take her back to Academia, but not now.' Dennis thought to himself.
"What's an enemy doing here? And dressed as Yuzu Hiragi...are you a spy sent from Academia?!" Sawatari demanded to know. "That's why you are pretending to be Yuzu Hiragi! That's it! That has to be it!"
As Sawatari got closer to the girl, Tsukikage got in between the two. "Get the hell away! You are protecting the enemy!"
"I have an agreement to protect her from my client." Tsukikage explained.
"And who exactly is this client?!" Sawatari said.
"Sawatari, Serena isn't a spy. Trust me." Yuya said.
"What?! Then how can you explain her dressing up as Yuzu?" Sawatari asked.
"I was previously with Yuzu. She explained to me that Serena and Yuzu switched clothing so that she could get away." Yuya explained while leaving the part out the Serena was trying to find Yuto or Shun since they were from Xyz.
"She could have tricked Yuzu into doing that!" Sawatari shouted.
"Serena is not a spy." Reiji spoke out. "She is on the run from Academia."
"That's right. The Obelisk Force was sent to take me back to Academia." Serena explained. "Yuzu was probably mistaken for me."
"But why did you come here?" Gongenzaka asked.
"I came here to prove myself to Academia." Serena said.
"Does that mean you...carded people?!" Mieru asked frightened.
"No, I never carded anyone. I defeated him and then I was challenged by Yuzu." Serena explained referring to Dennis.
"Yep, she totally wiped the floor with me." Dennis admitted, even though he was holding back.
"Wait, you dueled Yuzu Hiragi? Did you lose?" Sawatari asked.
"The duel was pretty close but the Obelisk Force interrupted our duel. That's when the ninjas saved us." Serena said referring to Tsukikage and his fallen brother. "Then, Yuzu and I switched clothes so I could talk to Kurosaki."
"I see..." Shun said realizing that was the reason Serena was there when he was defeated by Sora.
"If the Obelisk Force were repelled, then Academia probably sent the elites to capture me...and they probably got to Yuzu." Serena explained with a sad tone.
Yuya's eyes widened in fear as he crouched down grabbing his head. "No...no no no no no!"
"Yuya!" Gogenzaka said reaching out to his friend.
"Yuto and Yugo were with Yuzu...so that means..." Yuya uttered.
"You know finally understand what this means...they were all defeated by Academia!" Reiji said.
"Yuto..." Shun said in sadness. He looked down as tears began to shed from his eyes. There is no possible way Yuto could have lost. He couldn't be gone. They were suppose to rescue Ruri together.
"That's impossible! They are too strong to lose!" Gongenzaka protested.
"Believe what you want." Reiji said.
Yuya looked down in despair as tears began to pour from his eyes. "If you hadn't have made us fight...THEY WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN ALIVE AND HERE!"
"They each made a sacrifice. We must honor there sacrifices by coming together. You all survived from using your strength in order to win and survive against all odds. Now, we must combine our strength to vanquish Academia as Lancers!"
"Shut up! You shouldn't have ever made us fight!" Yuya shouted. "Bring Yuzu...Yuto...and Yugo...back. BRING EVERYONE BACK!"
Yuya lunges forward sending his fist directly at Reiji's face but his fist was caught.
"You are a duelist, aren't you. Put your hatred into your dueling, not your fists!" Reiji said throwing the boy backwards.
"Fine! In the place of everyone that were turned into cards, I'll defeat you and I'll make you repent for you actions!" Yuya shouted activating his duel disk with rage in his eyes.
"If I lose to you, I'll repent as much as would like me to." Reiji said with a confident smirk.
"Remember those words!" Yuya shouted.
"Heh. You don't seem to realize our mission. I created the Lancers to save our dimension from the same tragedy that fell upon the Xyz Dimension." Reiji said as he walked back before facing Yuya while pointing to the sky. "Action Field Activate! Neo Heartland City, activate!"
All of a sudden, a bright futuristic city appeared around the Battle Royal survivors.
"Heartland City! This is the Xyz Dimension's-" Serena said before everyone turned to Shun who looked very distressed.
"This is...our homeland!" Shun struggles to say.
"Kurosaki, do as Yuzu Hiragi wishes and tell us what happened in Heartland." Reiji said as everyone turned to Shun.
"..."
"Too mortified to speak? I'll speak for you, then. The Fusion Dimension's Academia that attacked you during the Battle Royale-"
"Stop it!" Yuya abruptly shouted. "Stop...don't do this." Being reminded of the horrors that already went through his mind earlier when he experienced Yuto's memories was already brutal enough.
"Before coming to our dimension-"
"Stop it." Yuya said quietly this time as he began walking towards the older teen with a cold expression.
"They invaded Heartland in the Xyz Dimension."
"STOP IT! I won't let you say anymore!" Yuya shouted looking up with eyes of rage.
"...Yuto...?!" Shun uttered. He could have sworn he saw Yuto just now in the place of Yuya.
"I'll crush you into the ground where you belong and then I'll make you repent for everything you've done. I'M GOING TO AVENGE EVERYONE!" Yuya shouted pointing at Reiji who also activated his own duel disk.

"That's Reiji Akaba for you. I'm surprise a LDS student didn't know he could use 3 summoning methods. Though, this is my first time seeing him use all 3 in person." Sawatari said.
"Not just 3! Reiji can also use Pendulum! And most likely what lies beyond!" Yuya shouted.
Reiji looked at his opponent with a smirk. He knew that Yuya had figured that Reiji didn't settle with just learning Pendulum.
"Battle. Gust King Alexander, attack Stargazer Magician!" The Warrior swung it's sword creating a tornado that rushed towards the magician and sent it flying into a building. The building began to crumble which resulted in the building completely collapsing and falling down on the magician.
"Wave King Caesar, attack Mammosplash!" Reiji shouted as his monster swung it's sword causing water to burst out of the ground which sent the monster flying through a bridge which then ignited in flames.
"Finally, Flame King Temujin, direct attack!" The monster rushed at the defenseless duelist and slash the him with the monsters sword causing the boy to be sent flying half way down a flight of stairs below him.

"I set 3 cards face down, turn end." Reiji concluded.
"The field..." Serena gasped seeing the destroyed city.
"This...is what Academia did to my home. They blazed a path of destruction throughout Heartland, carding anyone they saw, even non duelists and children. And the worst part was, they all had a sinister smile on their face...like our lives were...a game!" Shun said as he recalled the sinister laughter of the Academia students.
"It's all true..." Serena said. Everything she stood for, everything she worked so hard to impress, was pure evil. She stood there for a few moments, completely speechless.
"I suspect that everything that has happened so far is just as you expected. You are probably thinking, "From here on out is the real deal!", you're thinking that, aren't you?" Reiji said smirking. "You have already found what has lied beyond Pendulum. Now use that on me! Use the powers you have acquired."
Yuya walked up the steps with the top of his face covered in darkness. "You see through everything, don't you? As expected of a prodigy duelists. But answer me this...Akaba Reiji! Did you forsee the outcome of Battle Royale with that brain of yours? How many would fall...how many would survive...are you satisfied that it ended just as you expected?!"
Reiji's smirk was now replaced by a stern expression. Everything Yuya had said was correct. He knew which ones would live and which ones would die. Yet he did nothing to prevent there deaths. He needed everything to naturally play out for his goal, no matter how evil that made him look.
"We are not your puppets!" Yuya shouted looking directly at Reiji with a piercing stare. He was going to win this duel, no matter what.
"Yuya..." Gongenzaka uttered.
"Michio...Teppei...everyone was turned into cards! They were all humans with their own lives! Yuto and Yugo...were like my brothers...and Yuzu...she was always there for me and she always encouraged me to duel my own way! They were the reason why I was able to use Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz. Because of them...I was able to learn what was beyond Pendulum Summoning. I'll...AVENGE THEM! MY TURN!" Yuya shouted as he violently drew.
"Darling..." Mieru said.
"I activate the spell card Extra Draw! While I control no monsters, I can draw a card for each monster summoned from the Extra Deck on your field! I draw 3 cards! Next with the already set scale, Pendulum Summon! Come forth, from the extra deck, Stargazer Magician! Entermate Mammosplash! And from my hand, Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya shouted as the two of his destroyed monsters return along with his ace monster.

The green dragon appeared in the middle of the other two dragons. The three dragons roared as if they were responding to there master's emotions.
"3 Consecutive Fusion Summons..." Serena said surprised. His Fusion Summoning capabilities were up to par with those from Academia for sure.
"I was able to call upon these 3 dragons from the hint I got from Yuzu. Because of her will to protect You Show and from the teachings of Sora." Yuya explained as he looked at his dragons.
"Sora Shiunin? While I did not know specifically, to think she would learn from a duelist from Academia..."
"You knew?! You knew that Sora was from Academia?!" Yuya shouted.
"Yes. His Fusion Summoning energy was far above those at LDS. I see...so that affected you. Giving you the power to call upon a new dragon." Reiji explained.
"So Sora's power went from Yuzu...to me. So you are trying to say that me being able to call out Rune Eyes, Beast Eyes, and Vortex Dragon was from Academia's power?!"
"It's just a single hypothesis, that hasn't been proven yet."
"That's not true! My power did not come from Academia. It came straight from her...Yuzu. I was moved by her feelings to become stronger in order to defeat LDS...that's why I also will...BEAT YOU NO MATTER WHAT!" Yuya shouted like a mad man.
"Will you now?"
"Odd Eyes Vortex Dragon's effect! I return Alexander to your extra deck!" Yuya shouted as his monster flapped it's wings creating a powerful wind that was about to blow away the Gust King.
"Not so fast! Continuous Trap Activate! Dark Contract with the Emperor! Once per turn, I can negate the effect of a monster that would target a D/D/D monster on my field!"
"I don't think so! By sending Trump Witch from my extra deck back to my deck, Vortex Dragon can negate the activation of your trap!"
"Then I'll do this! Trap Activate! D/D/D Dark Seal! Since I control a D/D/D monster, I can target one monster on my opponents field and it has it's effects negated! Also, it can't attack this turn! Then, I can draw a card for each D/D/D or Contract card that was activated during the previous chain! I draw 2!" Reiji shouted as he drew while a dark magical circle appeared around the dragon.
"Damn it! Battle! Rune Eyes can attack depending on the level of it's Magician-type Fusion material! Since Stargazer was a level 5...Rune Eyes can attack 3 times! Rune Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Attack Temujin, Alexander, and Caesar! Consecutive Shiny Burst!" Three lights shot out of the circle on the dragon's back that destroyed the three monsters causing a major explosion but Reiji barely moved.

"This is the end for you! Get him, Beast Eyes! Helldive Burst!" Yuya commanded his monster as it shot a fiery blast that was about to hit Reiji who looked nervous before a huge explosion occurred.
"Did he do it?!" Sawatari said surprised.
"Reiji didn't have enough life points to survive, Yuya had to have won-" Gongenzaka began to say before seeing Reiji unharmed by the previous attack.
"I activated the Trap Card D/D/D Contract Modification. By banishing the D/D/D monster with the highest ATK, I negated any damage I would have taken." Reiji explained. "Also, I add a Level 4 or lower D/D monster from my deck to my hand."
"Don't give up, Yuya!" Gongenzaka shouted.
"I have come to understand that your strong feelings for Yuzu Hiiragi led you to discovering the path from Pendulum to Fusion. But! Evolving through strong emotions won't help you win duels!"
"What?!" Yuya was at a lost for words. What was this guy saying. Without his strong emotions, he probably would have been carded by the Obelisk Force, Darkness, or maybe even Sora.
"The lancers are an elite squad made to fight Academia in real combat. Such emotions can be extremely fatal on the battle field."
"I won't be one of your lancers!" Yuya shouted back.
"You don't want to avenge your friends?" Reiji asked. This struck a nerve in Yuya.
"Damn it! Turn end." Yuya begrudgingly said.
"Now that your turn is finished, it's my turn to show my true strength! My turn! With the Scale 1 D/D Magical Savent Galilei and the Scale 10 D/D Magical Savent Kepler, I set the Pendulum Scale!" Reiji shouted as his two artificial cards appeared in the blue columns.

"With this, I can simultaneously summon monsters with levels 2 through 9! Pendulum Summon! Grand power that shakes my very soul, arise within me and become a new light that rends the darkness. Pendulum Summon! Come before me, Supreme deity of twilight that judges the gods, D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok!" Reiji shouted as the pendulum monster sitting on a thrown appeared.

"When this Card is special summoned, I can revive a D/D/D monster in my graveyard! Be reborn, D/D/D Wave King Caesar!" Reiji explained as the rags protruding from the monster's throne pulled the monster from the grave.
'Both of his monsters are way weaker than mine...what is he planning?' Yuya thought to himself.
"I summon D/D Necro Slime from my hand!" Reiji said as the monster appeared.

"Next, Abyss Ragnarok's effect! By releasing Necro Slime, it can banish a monster on your field! I banish Rune Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Reiji commanded his monster as multiple rags hit the Fusion monster causing it to disappear in bright blue light.
"Rune Eyes! How dare you!" Yuya shouted in anger as he lost his first Fusion monster. 'If only I could use Vortex Dragon's effect...'
"It's ok! He still has Vortex Dragon and Beast Eyes." Gongenzaka said.
"D/D Necro Slime's effect in the graveyard! By banishing this card, I can perform a Fusion Summon for a D/D/D monster! I fuse together my Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok and Wave King Caesar!" Reiji shouted as the two rose in the Fusion vortex. "Crush the twilight of gods, and with the force of your surging wave, open up a new world! Fusion Summon! Appear, autocratic god of limits! D/D/D Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok!"

A new monster appeared which was a hybrid of the two monsters. The monster was similar to Ragnarok but had armor and a blue aura like Caesar.
"An ATK of 3200?!" Yuya said shocked.
"Now I activate the effect of Wave King Caesar in my graveyard! I add a Dark Contract from my deck to my hand! Battle! Wave Oblivion King Caesar Ragnarok, attack Beast Eyes Pendulum Dragon! The End of Judgement!" The monster sent multiple blue blasts at the dragon which destroyed it and caused Yuya to flinch in pain.

"Is this your best?"
"What was that?!"
"You haven't shown me everything you've got so far, right? I'm not at my full strength either. Not in the slightest." Reiji said with a cold glare. "I set 2 cards face down, turn end. Now it's your turn. If you want me to try against you, you better hold nothing back! You must show me everything you have to offer!"
"What?!" Yuya said confused. If Yuya used his full power, he was sure he could win. After all, he still had Synchro, Xyz, and even Ritual left in his arsenal.
"Didn't you say you were going to to make me grovel before you? You don't even care about the others that were carded, do you? The only ones you care about are you friends, correct?"
Yuya then began to clutch his head in pain as dark aura began to appear around him. He then saw flashes of the Knights of Duels, Michio, Teppei, and Hikage being carded. He also saw a vision of people in heartland being turned into cards, which he saw earlier when he was in sync with Yuto while dueling the Obelisk Force. His eyes began to glow red while his hair spiked up. "GAH!"
"Why is he provoking Yuya so much?!" Gongenzaka said which was the question on everyone's minds.
'No! I can't lose my self! I promised her...I won't lose control for the likes of him! I'll beat him on my own!' Yuya thought to himself while returning to his normal state. "My turn! With the Scale 4 Odd Eyes Phantom Dragon, I reset the Pendulum Scale!"
Phantom Dragon 4 - 8 Xiangsheng
"P-Phantom Dragon?!" Gongenzaka said surprised. The dragon looked similar to Odd Eyes but the new dragon was dark blue and grey.
"With this, I can summon monsters with levels 5 through 7! Pendulum Summon! Come forth! From my extra deck, Stargazer Magician! Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya shouted as his two monster reappeared. "Next, I activate Xiangsheng's Pendulum Effect! Stargazer's level become equal to Odd Eyes' level!"

"Now, I overlay my Level 7 Stargazer Magician and Odd Eyes Vortex Dragon! Frozen dragon with dual colored eyes, be reborn in the depths of the artic and freeze our enemies! Xyz Summon! Come Forth! Rank 7! Frozen dragon of Revival! Odd Eyes Absolute Dragon!" Yuya shouted as the blue dragon appeared next to his Fusion monster.

"So this is your Pendulum Xyz? I presume this has come from your bonds with Yuto, correct?"
"That's right. Yuto told me about Academia and what they did to the Xyz Dimension. He told me how is friend Ruri was captured and how he would do anything to get her back. I promised him that I would help him save his home and free his friend!" Yuya shouted.
"But, you will be unable to do that unless you join me and become a Lancer." Reiji said.
"Shut up!" Yuya shouted.
"Wait, so Yuto wasn't actually Yuya's cousin..." Gongenzaka realized.
"He was from...the Xyz Dimension?!" Mieru said shocked.
"That is correct. Yuto and I came from to this dimension from the Xyz Dimension." Shun confirmed.
"It was pretty obvious. His Xyz skills were far beyond anyone in this dimension." Serena said.
"I activate the spell card Magician's Entrance! Since I have less life points than you, I can summon a Pendulum Magician from my Pendulum Zone! I summon Xiangsheng Magician! But, my Magician can't use her effects until the end of this turn." Yuya shouted as his female red and white magician carrying a bow and armor appeared.

"He got rid of Odd Eyes..." Gongenzaka said surprised.
"Next, with the Scale 8 Odd Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon, I reset the Pendulum Scale!" Yuya shouted as his new form of his ace rose in the blue column. It was a dark blue dragon with light blue crystals and 3 large blue horns on it's back that looked similar to the Pendulum on his neck.

"A-Arc Pendulum Dragon?! Yuya never had that one either!" Sawatari said surprised.
"Battle! Odd Eyes Absolute Dragon Attack!" Yuya shouted as his Xyz monster began to charge an attack.
"Has he gone mad?!" Serena said confused.
"At this moment, Odd Eyes Phantom Dragon's Pendulum effect activates! When an Odd Eyes monster declares an attack while I have another Odd Eyes monster in my other Pendulum Zone, the attacking monster gains half of the ATK of the other Odd Eyes monster in my Pendulum Zone!" Yuya shouted as Phantom Dragon's eyes glowed while Arc Pendulum Dragon and Absolute gained a strong blue aura. "Since, Arc Pendulum has 2700 ATK...Absolute gains 1350 ATK!"

"His dragon is more powerful than Reiji's monster now!" Gongenzaka exclaimed.
"Go, Absolute Dragon! Spiral Blizzard Burst!" Yuya shouted as his powered up monster shot a blue blast at the Fusion monster.
"Caesar Ragnarok's effect! By returning Magical Savent Kepler to my hand, I can equip a different monster besides the one that is attacking to itself and it gains that monster's ATK! I equip Xiansheng Magician!" Reiji shouted as his Pendulum Card returned to his hand while a bunch of rags shot out from the fusion monster that wrapped around the female magician. The magician than turned into to particles that were absorbed by Caesar Ragnarok. But, the monster was still destroyed by the Xyz monster's attack.

'He seems so confident still. But it doesn't matter! Odd Eyes Absolute Dragon can put a stop to any of his attacks. And on my next turn, I'll win." Yuya thought to himself.
"With Galilei's effect, it's Scale increases to 3. Then, with the Scale 10 D/D Magician Savent Kepler, I set the Pendulum Scale!"

'I haven't pushed him far enough yet. He still has so much more potential that I need to exploit. I must overwhelm him again!' Reiji thought to himself as he stared at the confident Yuya. "I overlay my level 8 Hell Armageddon and Abyss Ragnarok!"
"First Pendulum Fusion...now Pendulum Xyz...he's just like Yuya..." Dennis said.
"When two suns rise, the horizon of a new world shall open up! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 8! D/D/D Twin Dawn King Kali Yuga!" Reiji shouted a new Xyz monster appeared. The monster was a large king with purple, red, and grey armor. The monster was sitting on a throne with two purple overlay units going around it and was surrounded by yellow light.

"Kali Yuya's effect! When this card is summoned, it negates the effects of all cards on the field including effects that were activated this turn! So your Wings of Misdirection is useless!" Reiji shouted as the monster let out a wave of energy that powered down the Xyz monster.

"Damn..." Yuya cursed in anger.
"Battle! Twin Dawn King Kali Yuga, attack Odd Eyes Absolute Dragon! Twin Break Shot!" Reiji commanded as his monster sent 2 black and purple blasts at the blue dragon which caused a explosion that knocked Yuya down past the stairs and onto the platform below.

"What's wrong? Are you finished already?" Reiji said with a cold glare as he walked to the top of the stairs where Yuya previously stood. "Where's the vigor from earlier when you said you would avenge everyone?! Weren't you going to make me repent?! I set two cards facedown, turn end."
"This is my duel. Mine...but also Yugo, Yuto, and Yuzu's!" Yuya shouted with a determined but also angry expression. "I'll avenge them! And I'll keep my promise to Yuzu! I won't ever lose my dueling! That's why...I'll never lose to someone who makes others fight! Or someone who hurts others with dueling! I can't ever lose! My...TURN!"
"Yuya..." Gongenzaka said. He was saddened by the news of Yuzu, but he knew that Yuya was hurting inside the most. He was just so surprised Yuya would result to anger instead of sadness.
"I activate the effect of Odd Eyes Release Draw in my graveyard! I can banish it along with Odd Eyes Vortex Dragon...to draw 2 cards! Next I activate the spell card Cyclone! I can now destroy a spell or trap card on the field! I choose...Odd Eyes Phantom Dragon that is a spell card while in the Pendulum Zone!" Yuya shouted as the black cyclone destroyed the dragon in the blue column.
"Why would Darling do that?!" Mieru asked.
"I have decided...I'm going to end this duel right now! No more holding back! Odd Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon's Pendulum Effect! When an Odd Eyes card is destroyed, I can special summon an Odd Eyes monster from my deck, hand, or graveyard! I special summon Odd Eyes Absolute Dragon!" Yuya shouted as the blue dragon reappeared.
"But without overlay units, what can that dragon do against Reiji's monster?" Dennis asked.
"Next, I activate the Ritual Spell Odd Eyes Advent! I tribute the level 7 Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Dragon born from the depths of the earth! Heed the call of the ritual and break the chains that imprison you! Ritual Summon! Come forth! Level 7! Odd Eyes Gravity Dragon!" Yuya shouted as the blue and brown dragon appeared that had rock like armor with chains around it.

"I know for a fact none of your close friends can Ritual Summon, so where did this power originate from?"
"This power came from my will to get strong enough to defeat those who duel for the wrong reasons. Odd Eyes Gravity Dragon's effect! I can return all your spell and trap cards back to your hand! Gravity Wave!" Yuya shouted as his dragon roared causing the ground below to them to rumble. Reiji's pendulum card's and his set cards then dissolved and returned to his hand.
"Now Reiji can't defend!" Mieru shouted with glee. Seeing her darling using a Ritual Monster was sure a sight she loved to see.
"But your monsters aren't strong enough to defeat my monster."
"Not for long! With the Scale 3 Xiangke Magician, I reset the Pendulum Scale!" Yuya shouted as a blue magician appeared in the blue column.

"That's right...although we got off to a rough start, he was kind and compassionate!" Yuya shouted.
"Yugo was from the Synchro Dimension?!" Gongenzaka said.
"Meteorburst's effect! I special summon Odd Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon from the Pendulum Zone!" Yuya shouted.

"Now he has 5 dragons on his field..." Gongenzaka uttered as Yuya's 5 dragons roared in unison.
"That's quite an impressive field you have built. But it will all be in vein once my turn comes." Reiji said.
"You won't have a next turn! Because I'm taking you out right now! Battle! Odd Eyes Meteorburst Dragon attack D/D/D Twin Dawn King Kali Yuga!" Yuya shouted as his monster began to charge it's attack.
"What?! It's far too weak to match up to Reiji's monster!" Sawatari said.
"When Odd Eyes Meteorburst attacks while I have another Odd Eyes monster on my field, it gains 300 ATK for each monster on my field!"
"There are 5 Odd Eyes Dragons on Yuya's field..." Dennis said.
"That's means darling's monster will gain 1500 ATK!" Mieru shouted with glee.

"Go, Spiral Inferno Burst!" Yuya shouted as his dragon jumped high in the air and shot a powerful blast of fire at Reiji's Xyz monster.
"I activate the effect of Dark Contract with the Emperor in my graveyard! While my opponent controls 3 or more monsters, I can banish this card to negate destruction of D/D/D monster and the damage is halved!"
"Odd Eyes Gravity Dragon's effect! You must pay 500 life points to activate that effect! Restraining Pressure!" Yuya shouted as his ritual dragon's eyes glowed while the gravity increased around Reiji causing him to kneel. Then, Yuya's Synchro Dragon shot a powerful blast towards the Xyz monster which was not destroyed but the shockwave from the attack still hit Reiji.

"Damn...I couldn't win...turn end." Yuya said. Even with the impressive field he managed to set up, he was still unable to finish off Reiji.
"I thought you said you were going to end the duel this turn. Is your resolve that weak?" Reiji asked.
"What did you say?!" Yuya shouted.
"Even with your constantly evolving dueling, you still can't manage to win without someone else's help." Reiji pointed out.
Yuya's eyes widened as he heard this. Despite him wanting to deny it...Reiji was right. A lot of his duels were won because of the help of other people. In his first duel of the battle royale, he would have lost to Umesugi and Takeda, but Dennis had saved him and helped him win. When Yuya dueled the Obelisk Force, he had to let Yuto finish things off because he couldn't which caused great strain on his friend. In the duel against Darkness, he couldn't deal enough damage during his turn, which led to Yugo being defeated and injured. And if it wasn't for Yuto, he would have lost Yuzu for sure. He couldn't even bring back Sora on his own.
"No matter how strong you get, you can't do anything on your own. And now with your friends gone...
"SHUT UP!" Yuya shouted as his eyes began to glow with rage. "DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT THEM! YOU ARE THE REASON WHY THEY ARE GONE!"
"Am I, or is it Academia?" Reiji asked.
"Academia might've been the ones who attacked...but it's your fault that so many people had to die! If you had just warned the participants...than maybe we could have been ready. Hell, if you didn't hold Kurosaki hostage, Yuto wouldn't have been so driven to compete in the tournament and we wouldn't have split up to search for Kurosaki!" Yuya shouted.
"Every war has casualties...but we must continue forward." Reiji said.
"THIS ISN'T SOME SILLY WAR! THIS IS REAL LIFE!" Yuya shouted.
"You are right, this is real life! That's why we must fight to destroy Academia so real lives won't be lost! And as a Lancer-"
"I WILL NOT BE A LANCER!" Yuya shouted.
"Yuya..." Gongenzaka uttered seeing his friend's behavior. "...Yuzu wouldn't want you to act like this...neither would Yuto and Yugo."
Yuya's eyes widened as he began to be reminded of the promise that he made to Yuzu. "Promise me that no matter what happens, you'll always duel for what YOU believe in. No matter what."
Yuya's eyes began to return to normal while his hair went back down. 'Yuzu...the only thing left I have if you is the promise I made to you...so I intend to keep it. No matter what.'
"My turn! Battle! Twin Dawn King Kali Yuga, attack Odd Eyes Meteorburst Dragon! Twin Break Shot!" Reiji shouted as his monster shot two black and purple blasts at the Synchro monster causing a huge explosion sending Yuya backwards to the ground.

"I activate the Quick Play Spell D/D/D Thunder! When a D/D/D monster destroys a monster on my opponent's field, I can destroy a card on their field! I destroy Gravity Dragon!" Reiji shouted as purple lightning shot out from the card.
"But you must pay 500 life points! Restraining Pressure!" Yuya shouted as he got up before his dragon was destroyed.

"Both of them are very low on life points now!" Dennis pointed out.
"I set two cards face down, turn end. Make your last move before I end this duel."
"Yugo...Yuto...Yuzu...this is for you! My turn...DRAW!" Yuya shouted as he drew. As he did this, two dim lights were glowing in his extra deck. "I activate the effect of Magician's Entrance in the graveyard! By banishing it while I have 1000 life or less, I can add Xiansheng Magician back to my hand! Then with the Scale 8 Xiansheng Magician, I reset the Pendulum Scale!"

Yuya shouted as he held up card that was glowing red. His dragon was surrounded by a circle of flames that were very beautiful. The flames then began to rise covering up the dragon. "Dragon with burning dichromatic eyes, evolve pass your limits and incinerate the darkness with your eternal flame! Come forth! Level 8! Odd Eyes Advance Dragon!"

"That's the dragon he used when we teamed up!" Dennis cheerfully said.

"I send D/D/D Shadow Shield from my hand to the graveyard to negate the destruction of a D/D/D monster on my field!" Reiji shouted as a purple shield formed around his monster.
"Grr, I activate the spell card Monster Reborn! Rise, Odd Eyes Meteor Burst Dragon!" Yuya shouted as his Synchro monster returned.

"Why is he doing that...?" Gongenzaka muttered.
"Springoose's effect in the graveyard! By banishing it, I can return Xiangke and Xiansheng back to my hand! Next, I activate Graceful Charity! I draw 3 and discard 2!" Yuya shouted as he discarded Xiangke and Xiansheng. " Now, with the Scale 3 Fate Magician and the Scale 8 Destiny Magician, I set the Pendulum Scale!"

"I wouldn't be so sure! Odd Eyes Wing Dragon's Effect! Your Kali Yuga is destroyed and Wing Dragon gains ATK equal to your monster's ATK! Go, Dichroic Destruction!" Yuya shouted.
"I wont let you! By banishing D/D/D Dark Seal in my graveyard, I can negate the activation of your dragon's effect along with the rest of your dragon's effects!" Reiji countered.
'Damn...I guess I'm going to have to use my last resort.' Yuya thought to himself. "I...will win, no matter what! Wings of Misdirection's effect! I can banish this card in my graveyard along with 2 cards I control, Odd Eyes Wing Dragon and Seasons Magician, I can target a monster on my field and it gains 800 ATK! Also, the activation of any cards on your field are negated."

"Sacrificing his monsters he worked so hard to summon while preventing his opponent from making moves...this isn't Yuya's dueling at all..." Gongenzaka said in disbelief.
"That may be true, but he's crazy strong this way!" Sawatari said.
"So you threw away the card your Synchro Pendulum Dragon to increase your Xyz Pendulum Dragon's ATK. Interesting. That's exactly what I wanted to see! Maybe you won't let sentimentality cloud your dueling." Reiji said.
"I didn't want to...but I had no choice! I have to win no matter what!" Yuya shouted.
"Darling...I don't even need to use my abilities to tell that Yuya is very conflicted." Mieru said with a sad tone.
"Reiji Akaba! This is the end for you! BATTLE! Odd Eyes Rebellion Dragon...attack D/D/D Twin Dawn King Kali Yuga!" Yuya shouted as his dragon charged purple lightning in it's wings while it's fangs glowed.
"If this connects, Reiji will receive 300 damage..." Dennis realized.
"And he only has 200 life points..." Serena added.
"So Yuya will win...!" Gongenzaka finished.
"Kali Yuga's effect cannot be negated! By using an overlay unit, I destroy all spell and trap cards on the field!" Reiji shouted as his monster let out a wave of energy that destroyed all of his spells and traps since Yuya didn't have any.

"Yuya!" Gongenzaka, Mieru, Dennis and surprisingly Sawatari yelled in concern.
"I won't lose! I activate the Quick Play Spell Magicians Drive! I destroy your two Magicians in my Pendulum zone, and a Pendulum Monster gains ATK equal to their scale values times 100! Fate Magician's Scale is 3 and Destiny Magician's Scale value is 8, so there combined scale value is 11! Therefore, Odd Eyes Rebellion Dragon gains 1100!" Yuya shouted as the two magicians in his Pendulum Zones turned into particles of light that flew into the Xyz Pendulum Dragon.

"END THIS, ODD EYES REBELLION DRAGON! REBELLIOUS WRATH STRIKE DISOBEY!" Yuya shouted as his dragon charged at Reiji's monster as it flew up the stairs while ripping through them with it's fangs.
"Trap Activate! Dark Contract of Renewal! I can activate the effects of the negated Wings of Misdirection!" Reiji shouted.
"What?!"
"Kali Yuga gains 800 ATK!"

"No..." Yuya uttered.
"Counter Attack! Turn the tables on Odd Eyes Rebellion Dragon! Twin Break Shot!" Reiji commanded. Right before the dragon's attack connected, the king shot two powerful black and purple beams that overpowered the dragon.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!" Yuya shouted as he was hit by the explosion that sent him spinning through the air.

"Gah!" Yuya let out as he hit the ground while the field destroyed field around them disappeared.
Reiji looked at Yuya for a moment before pressing a button on his duel disk. "How is the data?"
'Sir, the data from the past duel has been collected.'
"I see. Well done." Reiji said before turning to Yuya.
"I...wasn't strong enough...I couldn't save them...and I couldn't even win this duel..." Yuya said as he clenched his fist. "I have to get stronger...even stronger than I am now..."
"You are wrong about one thing you said." Reiji said to the defeated duelist.
"What...?"
"Your friends." Reiji said pointing to an alley way.
Confused, Yuya turned his head to his right and saw 7 figures walking out. His eyes widened as he saw Yugo, Yuzu, and Yuto who was now on his feet along with Hokuto, Yaiba, Roy, and Masumi.
"Yuzu...YUZU!" Yuya shouted with happiness as he jumped up, despite his pain, and ran down to his friends.
"Yuya..." Yuzu said as she ran towards him. The two embraced each other, while Gongenzaka held back the jealous Mieru. "I told you we would be ok..."
"Damn Reiji..." Yuya choked as tears fell down. "I was so worried... I'm so happy you are ok..."
"Of course I am...I told you we would all be ok and be together in the end." Yuzu said as tears began to fall from her eyes as well.
"Damn emotions!" Yugo said tearing up as well. "Damn you both for making me so emotional..."
"Yuto!" Shun shouted as he ran down towards his comrade.
"Shun...I lost against-"
"It doesn't matter! All that matters is you are alive and here! I knew you weren't carded like Reiji said you were." Shun said before hugging Yuto who was confused but smiled seeing his friend being sentimental, which is a side he hasn't seen of his best friend since the war started. After losing his sister and his parents, Yuto was the closest thing he had to family. So this reaction was to be expected giving the scare that Reiji gave him.
"They are ready." Reiji said to himself before walking away from the joyful scene.
The first phase of his plan had been completed. If anything, it went even better then he had imagined, despite casualties, which he knew would be inevitable.

WE ARE DONE! THE STANDARD ARC IS ABOUT TO COME TO AN END...in 1 or 2 chapters. This whole arc was extremely fun to write and thank you all for supporting me and my writing. This is my first big story and I thank you all so much for staying with me this long. I know I hate COVID-19, but it did give me the step I needed to begin my writing. It's been almost 3 months and I think I've done pretty good so far with updates.
In the past 4 chapters, I've tried my best to give high quality duels with unique strategies, and I'm going to try and keep giving you the same quality. The duels for the Friendship cup may result in longer chapters or two chapter long WRGP type duels which may take longer than the classic 1v1 duels, but I'm confident I can pull it off, for now.
I tried putting my own spin on Yuya vs Reiji round 2 for my story. I kept the same format, but used more cards and the life points were much closer this time around. Also, I'm most proud of the final turn, and I'm happy with the way it turned out. Honestly, I liked the way Reiji won in the anime, and I wanted the same thing to happen here, but with Yuya putting up more of a fight than his anime counterpart. I had Yuya use ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING HE HAD in this duel so when he lost, he would have more character development and more drive. And Yuya won't be summoning Odd Eyes Wing that much but I thought it would be cool if it made an appearance. Anyway, hope y'all liked it!

E.T. 2000: Thanks and I'm glad you agree with me. Since Yuto is there, he will convince Shun to use Pendulums so don't worry. I just have to make some up is all. Thanks for the name idea for Shinji and I was planning on giving each team a name. I actually will be releasing the teams before the Synchro Arc, or at least a draft of the teams anyway. And people can tell me there name ideas in the reviews or PM me.
Sage the Hedgehog: Thank you. I see what you're saying with the awakened state, but they are 3 Yu Boys constantly around each other, which causes awakenings to happen more often. But, they won't be used for a little while. Or not as much, anyway.
