The group of Lancers led by Tsukikage finally made it back to the stadium. They were prepared to fight the remaining Obelisk Force, but all they saw was the track was completely scorched.
"So the battle is really over. It looks like someone set this place on fire." Sawatari said in a surprised tone.
"You can thank the king for that." Gongenzaka said as he walked out of the tunnel with bandages on his body and approached the group.
"Gongenzaka, what happened here. Is Academia really gone?" Yuto asked.
"Correct. Thanks to Jack Atlas' help, Hokuto, Yaiba, Roy, and I managed to push the remaining soldiers out." Gongenzaka explained.
"Where are the others?" Masumi asked in concern.
"Yaiba, Roy, and Hokuto are still in the infirmary." Gongenzaka answered.
"C'mon, let's go." Masumi said as she grabbed Sawatari's hand and walked off.
"Hey!" Sawatari tried to protest with a faint blush, but Masumi was far stronger then him.
"Did Yuzu's group make it back?" Sora asked.
"Yeah, they found Crow and brought him back here. He's also recovering." Gongenzaka said.
"Good..." Shun said as he and Sora both sighed in relief.
Hearing that her teammate was injured, Serena rushed off to the infirmary without saying a word.
"We should probably get you to the infirmary too, Shun." Ruri said. Shun was too weak to protest this, leading to Yuto and Ruri helping him walk to the infirmary.
Looking around the stadium, Reira noticed that people were beginning to fill the stadium as if the invasion never happened.
"Is something about to happen...?" Reira asked.
Before the muscular teen could answer, a larger hologram of Melissa Claire appeared.
"Hey everyone! Melissa Claire here! Thanks to the amazing effort from the Lancers, Security, and our King, we're all safe!"
"Strange...I don't remember Security being all that helpful..." Gongenzaka grunted.
"However, things aren't looking too good right now with some fighting going on with the Commons and Security. To remind everyone that we're all friends, the Friendship Cup Finals will begin soon!"
"The Friendship Cup...is continuing...!" Reira said in a surprised tone.
"Sadly, because of extenuating circumstances, only one representative from each team will be dueling today. From Team Wings of Victory, the determined underdog who commands the winds, Yugo! And from Team United Hope, the Creator of Pendulum who can adapt to any situation, Yuya Sakaki!"
Images of Yuya and Yugo appeared around the city, causing people to look up in excitement, even the people who were in the middle of fighting.
"Yuya Sakaki is seemingly unbeatable with an astonishing five wins and no losses. His victories include defeating Officer Frost from Team Security, the entirety of Team Unicorn, and even Team Devastation's Sergey Volkov! His ability to use Ritual Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and his very own Pendulum Summoning has given him the edge in all of his duels! I've never seen a duelist with so many amazing feats!"
Images of Yuya using various summoning methods and defeating all of his opponents were shown throughout the city, grabbing everyone's attention.
"His opponent Yugo has two wins and no losses. Despite having less wins, Yugo still has proven to be just as much as a threat to the title of Duel King. His wins consist of defeating Taro Yamashita from Team Taiyo and Yuto from Team Blades of Bravery! Using Pendulum, Ritual, Fusion, and Synchro Summoning, the boy hailing from the Commons managed to slay the wielder of Zushin the Sleeping Giant as well as the ruthless Phantom Duelist who most thought would be the winner of this year's tournament! On top of all that, he managed to create an evolution of Synchro Summoning, Accel Synchro! I can't wait to see him use it in the finals!"

… the screen falls to reveal the Fusion Counterparts falling into darkness. Yuri grins wickedly as his eyes are whited out by a violet glow. Behind him is the shadow of an older boy, face obscured with a monstruous, inhuman smile on his face. Above him, Serena holds out her hand, desperately trying to reach her former friend. The gem on her bracelet shines like a star, cutting through the miasma that surrounds them. Behind her is the golden spirit of an older girl, trying to reach out to the figure behind Yuri as tears flow. The older teens vanish as the Fusion Counterparts' silhouettes turn to black and a large, sinister pair of draconic eyes open wide behind them.

Yuya and Yugo closely race next to each other on the highway as Odd Eyes and Clear Wing clash in the sky. Yuya and Yugo scream in unison as their dragons evolve into Odd Eyes Wing and Crystal Clear Wing before continuing their arial battle. As the Accel Synchro monster begins to gain an advantage, Enlightenment Paladin descends from the sky while enveloped in a brilliant light. As Odd Eyes Wing is briefly knocked away, the evolved blue and gold paladin strikes Crystal Clear Wing's head with it's majestic blade, while Yuya and Yugo can't help but grin in excitement.
Into This New World
The scene changes to Yuya standing beneath a blue landscape. A pendulum swings above him, draw arcs of light across the sky. Yusho's face is shown over the center of the arcs, smiling down at his son with pride.

The screen flashes to a beaten Crow standing across from a strange looking Jack Atlas, which clearly wasn't the real one, who had a variant of Red Daemon's on his field. The scene shifts to Yuto standing against Kiryu's Chaos Void Dragon with Vengeful Paladin on his field, who readied it's sword for battle. The scene changes to Yuzu and Rin struggling against the berserk Black Rose Witch who wore a cracked mask. Darkness Rose Death Dragon let out a violent screech as Prodigy Mozart and Winter Bell protectively flew in front of the two girls. The scene switches to Yuya and Yugo teaming up against the mastermind himself, Roget. A large machine-like titan which was shrouded in darkness towered over Odd Eyes and Clear Wing. At the two counterparts' command, the dragons charged forward before combining into Odd Eyes Wing Dragon while the titan lunged it's fist forward. As the two collided, a white flash engulfs the screen. The song ends with the Lancers on the highway (now including Crow, Ruri, Rin, and Sora) in the Synchro Dimension, looking up at the screen with the three Yu-boys in the center, with each of their eyes flashing a red, indigo, and cyan glow respectively.
In the infirmary, Crow was laying on a bed with Yuya and Yuzu beside him. Crow was now awake and had bandages on his body.
"So, are you ready for the battle?" Crow asked his friend.
"I think so." Yuya nodded as he looked through his deck. A nervous shiver went down his spine as he gazed over Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon. The boy couldn't help but feel worried about his and Yugo's aces sharing the field.
"Yuya...it'll be ok. We'll all be here to support you and Yugo out there." Yuzu said with a smile as she placed her hand on Yuya's.
"R-Right." Yuya hesitantly said.
"Does this mean you'll be rooting for your boyfriend, or your teammate?" Crow asked with a smirk, causing Yuzu to blush.
"I...uh..." Yuzu panicked, not really knowing how to answer.
"Yeah Yuzu...are you going to choose someone else over me?" Yuya playfully asked, causing Yuzu to summon her fan.
"Shut up, Yuya!" Yuzu yelled as she whacked the boy across the face.
"GAH!" Yuya cried as he fell to the ground, causing Crow to laugh. "C'mon...you haven't hit me with that thing in so long..."
"You deserved it." Yuzu coldly said before glaring at Crow. "The only reason I didn't hit you too is because your still recovering."
"I-It was a genuine question..." Crow nervously said.
If she had to answer the question, Yuzu honestly didn't know how'd she answer. Of course she loved Yuya, but ever since she taught him how to Fusion Summon before coming to the Synchro Dimension, Yugo's been by her side. They of course both had romantic feelings for other people, but they had formed a irreplaceable bond of friendship. Not only that, he was her teammate. Meaning if he won, her team did as well. She didn't fight her absolute hardest during this tournament just to lose.
"It's ok, I was only kidding. You and Yugo have been through a lot together. You're teammates after all so I'd expect you to root for him." Yuya reassured the girl, causing her to sigh in relief.
"Thanks, Yuya. I just want you guys to have the best duel imaginable. A duel that makes everyone see the potential of dueling for fun." Yuzu told the red and green haired boy.
"The potential of dueling for fun..." Yuya trailed off before smiling. "Right. I'll show them, Yuzu."
"I know you will." Yuzu smiled back before kissing the boy on the cheek.
"Hey, I'm in the room y'know..." Crow reminded, causing Yuzu and Yuya to blush.
"I-I'm going to go talk to Yugo before it begins." Yuzu told the boy in embarrassed tone before heading for the door.
The automatic door slid open as Yuzu approached it, causing her eyes to widen as to who was at the door.
"Serena..."
"Yuzu."
The two girls briefly yet awkwardly looked at each other for a moment.
"G-Good luck, Yuya." Yuzu said before walking off.
"Thanks, Yuzu..." Yuya said as the pink haired girl walked out of sight while her counterpart walked in.
"Crow, you're alright!" Serena said before uncharacteristically hugging him.
"T-Thanks...S-Serena..." Crow uttered as he felt his bones being crushed by Serena's hug.
"Oh, sorry." Serena said as she pulled away, allowing Crow to breath. As Crow comically huffed for air, Yuya and Serena began to laugh. "Geez, laughing at a guy in a hospital bed. Teens these days..."
Watching Serena laugh made Yuya happy. The encounter the counterparts had definitely shook her up, so he was glad she was doing better.
"Anyways, Yugo's a tough kid. Are you ready to take him on?" Crow asked.
"Yes...he's going to be a powerful opponent...but my cause is greater then his. I'll definitely win because of that." Yuya said in a determined tone.
"Good. You should probably get going soon, Yuya. The duel should be starting within the hour..." Crow told the boy.
"CROW!" Three voices shouted as the door opened.
"Frank! Amanda! Tanner!" Crow shouted as the three kids ran into the room and hugged the man.
"Yuya told me the location of your home so I went to get them. You're friend Shinji had some of his men stationed there to protect them." Tokumatsu said as he came into the room.
"Thank you..." Crow said with a tear in his eye as he hugged the trio of kids.
"I'm going to get going. Get better, Crow." Yuya smiled as he walked out.
"I'll join you." Serena said, surprising Yuya.
"Give it your all, Yuya." Crow said and gave the boy a thumbs up.
"Right." Yuya nodded and did the same before walking away, followed by Serena.
Within the workshop inside the stadium, Rin and Yugo were hard at work preparing their D-Wheel.
"God, these Top mechanics are idiots! Why did you let them touch our D-Wheel?!" Rin shouted in anger.
"I-It's not like I had a choice! They were locking us up in penthouses!" Yugo defensively answered.
Rin sighed as she continued to tune up the machine that she and Yugo had worked so hard to create. Looking at the girl hard at work made Yugo blush.
"Rin...you have no idea how happy I am to have you here..." Yugo sheepishly said.
"I'm happy too...Yugo...but I'm also angry!" Rin angrily shouted as she threw a wrench.
"Eh? Why are you mad?" Yugo asked.
"I wanted to be the one winning the Friendship Cup! Because of that Yuri freak, I didn't get the chance to compete!" Rin yelled.
"Rin..." Yugo uttered before getting close to the green haired girl.
"I just wanted to compete with you...it was always you and I against the world...and now you'll be out there competing in the finals...while I'm on the sidelines...being useless..." Rin grunted as her fist clenched in anger.
"...I know how you feel, believe me." The boy with blue and yellow hair said as he put his hand on the girl's shoulder. "...When you were taken and I couldn't find you, I felt useless for the longest time. Even though you're here now with me, I still can't shake that feeling. Don't get me wrong, I'm truly thankful that you're free, but the fact I wasn't able to contribute to your freedom hurts. Yuto was right...I became consumed with winning the tournament and I let it blind me of my true goal...saving you..."
"...Yugo..." Rin uttered as she got closer to the boy. The two stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity before Rin slapped Yugo across the face.
"GAH! What the hell was that, Rin?! I thought we were having a moment!" Yugo growled.
"I'm snapping you out of feeling bad about yourself for no reason! Everything you just said was a load of bullshit!" Rin shouted, shocking the boy in front of her.
"What?!" Yugo yelled.
"It was Academia's fault that I was kidnapped. It was my fault that I couldn't defend myself. Nothing that happened was your fault. You've gone through so much to save me. Hell, you may have not been the one who defeated me while I was being controlled, but you're still the reason I was saved." Rin explained.
"Huh?" Yugo tilted his head in confusion.
"During the duel, Yuzu and Serena tried to get through to me by saying how much you cared about me. You were the reason they wanted to save me. They wouldn't even know me if you hadn't allied with them. It was because of the bonds you created during your journey that led to me being free." Rin told the boy.
"I didn't really think about it like that..." Yugo admitted before shaking his head. "In that case, you shouldn't feel useless either! It was the dream we both shared that has gotten me this far! And with you being here to support me, I'm more fired up then ever! There's no way I can lose!"
Hearing the boys words, Rin smiled and extended out her fist.
"Promise me you'll go out there and give it your all. Don't let anything hold you back."
"I'll give it everything I got. Nothing will stop me from winning this duel. I promise."
Yugo gave the girl a fist bump with a confident smirk on his face.
As the green haired girl looked at the boy, she couldn't help but see how far he's changed since the last time they were together.
He hadn't changed all that much physically, but he seemed like he had matured. He wasn't as hot headed. He seemed a bit more serious and focused. He had a calmer sense of confidence. All of these qualities made her see him in a different way.
"G-Good. Let's get back to work then." Rin said with a faint blush as she turned her attention back to the D-Wheel.
"Right." Yugo obliviously said as he did the same.
As Yuya and Serena walked together, the two both wanted to speak but didn't really know how to go about it.
"I have something I need to say-" Both teens said in unison before realizing they spoke at the same time.
"Y-You can go first." Yuya told the girl.
"Thanks." Serena said before taking a deep breath. "First of all, I understand why you all feel betrayed. It wasn't right that I didn't tell you about Yuri. I thought that telling you the person I wanted to save was the person actively endangering all of you...you'd hate me. But I see now that keeping that information to myself hurt the trust you placed in me. For that, I'm truly sorry."
"You once being friends with Yuri wasn't the part that upset me. It was...the fact that you wanted to redeem him." Yuya admitted.
"...I can understand why that might upset you. He's done a lot to the people you care about. But he wasn't always like that. He used to be kind hearted. He used to love dueling with all his heart. He was...a lot like you, Yuya. And I..." Serena trailed off as she reached back and felt the yellow ribbon in her hair. "...I always cared for him...and he cared for me..."
"...What changed that?" Yuya asked, causing Serena to look down with a dejected look.
"...Do Yuto ever tell you the story of how I met Reiji for the first time?" Serena asked.
"Yeah. Reiji teleported to Academia to confront his father while you were trying to escape." Yuya remembered.
"That's right. I don't know how...but Yuri found out. And after that, our friendship was never the same..." Serena uttered, not really wanting to get into detail of the events that transpired after her encounter with Reiji.
"...Did he hurt you?" Yuya asked.
"...No...he didn't..." Serena answered.
"I'm sorry, Serena, but you have to understand why this is so hard for us. He took Ruri and Rin away from Yuto and Yugo. He almost kidnapped Yuzu and broke her bracelet. How can we look past that?" Yuya said in confusion.
"...Do you remember our conversation after you dueled Sora? I told you how hard it would be to get Academia to see things your way and you said you still had to try to show them all that dueling isn't meant for fighting wars. If you could bring Sora to our side even though he carded people, why shouldn't I try to save my friend?" Serena argued.
"...As much as I want to make people smile like my father did, I don't know if that's truly realistic anymore. They'll always be people like Sergey Volkov who will only duel to bring pain to others. That's why I fight to stop people from using dueling to hurt others. However, there are some people like Sora who can change. That's because deep down, Sora enjoyed dueling for fun and he didn't agree with Academia's methods. Yuri isn't like that at all. He enjoys the hunt. He likes acting like a monster-"
"HE'S NOT A MONSTER!" Serena snapped, causing Yuya to slightly jump. "We used to play in the garden together...he used to sneak into the castle the Professor kept me in...he even gave me this ribbon as a present..."
As Serena felt her yellow ribbon with her hand, she began to tear up.
"...He was my only friend...I'm the reason he's like this...I have to save him...I have to..."
To the girl's surprise, Yuya wrapped his arms around her. Serena's eyes widened before she embraced the boy who she'd grown close to over her time in this dimension.
"I understand your feelings, Serena. I honestly don't know if Yuri can be saved, but if you still see a glimpse of the boy you once knew in his eyes, then maybe there's hope. But you can't blame yourself for him being the way he is. Even if you think you betrayed him, he still made a choice to become like that. You're a kind hearted person who cares about your friends more then anything. The fact you still believe in him proves that."
"Yuya..."
"And whatever happens, I'll be by your side. That's what friends are for, right?" Yuya said with a soft smile.
"Yeah. Thanks, Yuya." Serena smiled back.
With Yuto and Ruri by his side supporting him, Shun stood in the tunnel waiting for his teammate.
"Shun, are you really sure you should be out here right now? The doctor said you should rest for at least a few hours..." Ruri said in a worried tone.
"I've been worse. I'll be fine." Shun reassured his sister.
Ruri look over at Yuto, who seemed to be deep in thought. She could tell her didn't want to be there, but she also knew he would never leave her or her brother's side.
Yuto was snapped back to reality as the trio was approached by Yuzu, who had also come to cheer on Yugo.
"Yuzu..." Yuto uttered, wanting to say more but not being able to find the words.
"Yuto..." Yuzu softly said, holding back her emotions.
"Hi, Yuzu. How was Yuya's friend?" Ruri asked, referring to Crow.
"He's doing much better now." Yuzu answered.
"Yuzu Hiragi..." Shun grumbled as he slowly walked towards the girl, causing her to gulp.
"Y-Yeah, Kurosaki...?" Yuzu said in a nervous tone.
In a swift motion, Shun gave Yuzu an uncharacteristic hug, shocking everyone.
"Eh?!" Yuzu gasped.
Shun pulled away from the girl and put his arm on her shoulder.
"The last time we saw each other, you promised me we'd save Ruri. And then you actually go off and do it...you have my eternal gratitude." Shun told the girl with a surprising smile.
"Well, I don't break my promises. Especially ones I make to my comrades, Kurosaki." Yuzu smiled back.
"Please, call me Shun." The older teen said.
The four then turned to see Yugo slowly approached on his D-Wheel with Rin beside him.
Yugo's eyes twitched as he saw Yuto, who looked at the yellow and blue haired boy without saying a word. His attention then shifted to Shun.
"Kurosaki! You're here! But you're hurt..."
"Don't worry about me, Yugo. I wouldn't miss this duel. You're out there representing us, so do me a favor and win." Shun told the boy as she held up his fist.
"That's right. Don't hold anything back, Yugo. Make this the best duel this city has ever seen." Yuzu smiled as she also held up her fist.
"Yuzu...Kurosaki..." Yugo trailed off before grinning. "Right! I'll definitely win!"
The three did a fist bump before Yugo turned back to Rin.
"Rin...I'll accomplish our dream right now. I promise." Yugo declared.
"Y-Yeah. Good luck." Rin said with a faint pink color on her cheeks.
"Alright! Let's do this!" Yugo shouted as he sped off into the stadium.
"Aww..." Yuzu and Ruri both made faces, causing Rin's face to turn red.
"Hey! Quit it!" Rin growled before approaching Yuzu. "You're the one that Yugo's grown close to, right?"
"Yes?" Yuzu said in confusion.
"Are you the reason he's changed so much? When he was always around me, he only ever acted like an sweet and kind idiot." Rin told the girl.
"To be honest...I've noticed that he has changed a lot too. After his losses against Darkness and then Jack Atlas, he's been really focused. And his drive to save you has gotten him through a lot. If anything, him wanting to save you has been the thing that's changed him the most." Yuzu explained.
"R-Really?" Rin asked in embarrassment.
"You two are so cute together..." Ruri said, causing Rin to become angered and even more embarrassed.
"That guy...making me feel this way..." Rin grunted before shaking her head. "What are we waiting for? Let's go cheer that knuckle head on."
At the end of another tunnel, Sawatari, Gongenzaka, and Masumi waited for Yuya to drive by.
"How are the others?" Gongenzaka asked the girl.
"Yaiba, Hokuto, and Roy are recovered. They'll be watching the match with Reiji, Reira, and Tsukikage." Masumi explained.
"Am I the only person that feels tired? I mean, we just dueled and ran around the city all night." Sawatari said to Masumi before turning to Gongenzaka. "And you literally dueled an entire swarm of soldiers for hours. Don't you need to go sleep or something?"
"My training at my father's dojo helped me prepare for such situations." Gongenzaka answered with his arms crossed, despite there clearly being bags under his eyes.
"As much as I'd love to rest, this duel is too important to miss." Masumi said, causing Gongenzaka to nod in agreement.
"I guess your right..." Sawatari sighed.
"Hey, guys." Crow greeted as he approached.
"Crow! Shouldn't you be resting?" Gongenzaka asked.
"And miss this duel? No way." Crow said with a smile before turning to Sawatari. "It's been awhile, brat. You're dueling wasn't half bad out there."
"Yeah, you're right. I could probably even beat you." Sawatari smirked.
"Totally. It's not like I defeated the guy who swept you're whole team." Crow said with a sly smile.
"Hey! For the record, I beat an Academia Elite a few hours ago!" Sawatari shouted.
"You did?" Gongenzaka said in a surprised tone.
"He did. The guy who defeated Yugo back in Standard." Masumi explained.
"Darkness..." Gongenzaka remembered.
"Yup! Masumi did help out a lot, but I managed to perform my very first Fusion Summon to win!" Sawatari exclaimed.
"Impressive. Maybe you deserve to duel me after all." Crow confidentially said.
"Me deserve to duel you? It should be the other way around!" Sawatari growled.
"Hahaha! You're really funny."
The group turned around to see Sora laughing with tears in his eyes.
"Shut up, spy! Who invited you here anyway?!" Sawatari shouted in anger.
"No one. I simply came to cheer on my pal." Sora said as he crossed his arms and turned away from the blond boy.
"Sora..." Gongenzaka began, causing the blue haired boy to turn towards him. "...I, the man Gongenzaka, was really disappointed in you back in Standard. However, I'm thankful that you helped keep Yuzu safe during the invasion."
"Of course, Gongenzaka." Sora nodded.
"You're the one who taught Yuzu how to Fusion Summon, right?" Masumi asked.
"Yep. And you're the one who pushed Yuzu towards learning Fusion Summon." Sora mentioned.
"How can we truly trust you? You're an agent of Academia. How do we trust you after what you did?" Masumi questioned.
"I don't know...and I don't really care either. Yuzu and Yuya trust me despite me betraying them back then. As long as they have faith in me, I don't really care what you guys think. Eventually, you'll see that I'm more useful as an ally then an enemy." Sora said, causing Sawatari to seethe in anger.
"Everyone!"
The group turned their heads to see Yuya slowly approaching on his D-Wheel with Serena walking beside him.
"Thanks for coming to cheer me on." Yuya said with a smile.
"Yugo's team took me and Gongenzaka's team out of the tournament. So do us a favor and revenge us." Masumi told the boy.
"I, the man Gongenzaka, will give it my all cheering for you, Yuya." Gongenzaka determinedly said.
"Since your my rival, it wouldn't look good for me if you lost, so go win this duel!" Sawatari ordered.
"Go out there and kick that banana head's ass, Yuya." Sora grinned.
"I'll absolutely win this duel." Yuya told his friends before turning to his teammates.
"We believe in you, kid." Crow smiled.
"Duel with all of your heart and everything will be ok." Serena said, repeating the advice Yuya once gave to her.
"Right. I'll take your feelings out there on the track and channel them into strength. There's no way I can lose now!" Yuya shouted.
Serena and Crow nod before the three share a fist bump.
Yuya gives once last smile to all of his friends before racing out onto the track.
"Here they come! Yuya Sakaki and Yugo are making their way onto the track!" Melissa cheerfully shouted as the crowd roared in excitement.
Once Yuya made it to the starting line, he looked over at Yugo, who was waiting for him.
"Yugo...I-"
"Save it, Yuya."
Yuya's eyes narrowed at his counterpart, who continued to look ahead.
"It doesn't matter to me what you have to say. I'm going to give this duel everything I have. I won't hesitate to make my dream a reality..." Yugo said in a serious tone without looking at his counterpart.
"You're dream is the only thing you care about..." Yuya grunted, causing Yugo to finally turn his head towards him in anger.
"Why you-"
"I'm going to win this duel, no matter what. I'm going to show these people the true potential of dueling for fun so they can change." Yuya declared.
"..." Yugo didn't respond to the declaration and instead took a deep breath before looking ahead.
"Let's get this show on the road! Action Field On! Field Spell, Crossover Accel activate!" Melissa shouted as a sphere of cards bursted, causing them to spread all through out the track.

At the same time, both duelist's duel disk blades activated and a holographic screen with a countdown starting at 3 appeared in front of the two riders.

The two counterparts sped off as the light turned green. Due to Yugo's experience, Yuya assumed the race to the exit wouldn't be an easy one. But when he looked to his side, Yugo was nowhere to be found.
"Huh?" Yuya said in confusion as he passed the exit with Yugo following behind him.
"Yuya Sakaki has easily passed the exit, meaning he will be going first!" Melissa shouted as the crowd cheered for the pendulum user.
Yuya looked back at Yugo and saw the serious expression in his eyes. He knew that Yugo was fighting for his dream, and as much as he didn't want to be the one to kill his friend's dream, he had to win. He had to be the one to show the people of this dimension what dueling was really meant for.
As Yugo stared at Yuya, he couldn't help feel aggravated with how his friend abused their connection. Not only that, he knew that Yuya thought he wouldn't be fit to become the Duel King. He had to win so he could show Yuya and everyone else that he was ready to accomplish his dream.
"Wow, I can feel the tension from up here!" Melissa commented as she flew above the two on a helicopter.
As much as Yuya wanted this duel to be fun for both himself and his opponent, he knew that would be impossible due to the recent events and the weight of the situation. However, he was still determined to entertain everyone else and show the crowd true dueling.
"The fun has just begun! My turn! I activate the Quick Play Spell, Super Hippo Carnival! From my deck, I special summon Entermate Discover Hippo!" Yuya shouted as the pink hippo with a top hat danced onto the field.

"Yuya Sakaki sets up a wall of monsters for his first move! How will Yugo respond?!" Melissa shouted as the crowd cheered in anticipation.
"Yuya is going on the defensive for now...that doesn't seem like something he would normally do." Crow said in a confused tone.
"Yugo strategically let Yuya go first so he could be the first one to attack, so Yuya is trying to minimize any damage he may take from Yugo's incoming assault." Serena said as she crossed her arms.
"No matter how many obstacles are in my way, I'll break through them all to accomplish my goal! My turn, draw!" Yugo declared as he drew.
"Yugo...I've never seen him like this before..." Rin said as she looked on at the banana haired boy.
"What do you mean?" Yuzu asked.
"I'm so used to him being a fun-loving goofball. He's become so serious since back then..." Rin trailed off, barely recognizing her longtime friend.
"While I have no monsters on my field, I can summon Speedroid Beigomax!" Yugo shouted as the monster made up of red spinning tops appeared.

"That means...!" Yuya trailed off.
"Kitedrake's effect activates! When this card is Synchro Summoned, I can choose to either negate the effects of all cards my opponent controls or to destroy all other cards on the field! I'll choose to destroy all other cards on the field! Go, Raging Gale!" Yugo yelled as his monster roared, causing a powerful storm that shredded through the five hippos.
"Grr..." Yuya grunted as he braced himself from the powerful force of wind.
"Just like that, Yuya's wall of monsters is completely shattered!" Melissa shouted.
Yuya's D-Wheel wobbled from the force of the winds, causing him to miss an Action Card that Yugo proceeded to swipe off the ground.
"Damn..." Yuya grunted as Yugo checked out the card before placing it in his hand.
"Battle! Kitedrake, direct attack! Typhoon Impact!" Yugo shouted as his monster fired a green cyclone blast from it's mouth.
"My hippos aren't done just yet! Quick Play Spell, Hippo Carnival activate! I special summon three Hippo Tokens to my field!"

"More hippos?!" Melissa gasped.
The green cyclone consumed the center hippo token, causing Yuya to let out a sigh in relief.
"It going to take more than that to damage me, Yugo!" Yuya shouted.
"Tch..." Yugo clicked his tongue in annoyance before grabbing the card he had picked up earlier. "Action Spell, Battle Draw! Since my monster destroyed your monster in battle, I can draw two cards!"
"So you still found a way to take advantage of the situation..." Yuya commented.
"...I will win this duel, no matter what I have to go through! I set a card facedown, turn end!" Yugo determinedly shouted.
Yuya saw the serious look in Yugo's eyes, causing him to look down for a moment. He could tell Yugo still was holding some resentment towards him and was more determined then ever to accomplish his dream. Yet, Yuya couldn't help but feel a excited to face Yugo at his full strength.
"Alright! It's time for my next act! My turn!" Yuya yelled as he drew. He looked at the card before his lips curled into a smile at the sight of his father's card. "Let's go! I release my two Hippo Tokens to Advance Summon! Come forth! Level 8! My joyful comrade that can make anyone smile! Entermate Laugh Maker!" Yuya shouted as the magician clad in yellow appeared. The magician carried a purple rod and wore a hat that covered his eyes.

"Smile World..." Yuzu uttered in awe as she looked at the field of colorful smiles, reminding her of when she watched Yusho Sakaki duel when she was younger.

Since Laugh Maker and Kitedrake gained ATK, Laugh Maker gains 2000 ATK!" Yuya yelled as his magician twirled his rod.

"Alright! Looking good, Yuya!" Crow cheered.
"Battle! Laugh Maker, attack High-Speedroid Kitedrake! Go, Laughing Spark!" Yuya shouted as he snapped his fingers. The magician leaped high in the air while spinning his rod. Once it was high enough, the magician pointed it's rod at the beast and fired a beautiful purple lightning blast.
"Trap Activate! Synchro Barrier! By releasing a Synchro monster, I don't take any damage this turn! I release High-Speedroid Kitedrake!" Yugo yelled as his monster dissolved into particles, dodging the attack.
"Not bad...I set a card facedown, turn end!" Yuya concluded as his magician descended from the sky.

"I absolutely won't lose! My turn, draw!" Yugo seriously shouted as he drew. "I activate the Spell Card, Hidden Shot! By banishing Speedroid Beigomax in my graveyard, Entermate Laugh Maker is destroyed!"
A green blast shot out of the card and blasted through the magician.
"My magician's act isn't over quite yet! Trap Activate! Pendulum Reborn! I can special summon a Pendulum monster that's in my graveyard or face up in my extra deck! Revive, Entermate Laugh Maker!"

As Yugo slammed the two cards onto his duel disk, the yellow dice with a red eye and the blue metallic jet appeared in front of him.

"Another Advance Summon?" Yugo said in a surprised tone due to his opponent normally relying on Pendulum Summoning.
"Come forth! Level 7! Magically entertainer that can bring joy to any audience! Entermate Sleight Hand Magician!" Yuya shouted as his magician clad in red appeared that had a lower body that resembled his pendulum.

"Sleight Hand's effect! By discarding a card, my magician can destroy a face up card on the field!"
As Yuya explained, he drove his D-Wheel to the left of the track and grabbed an Action Card.
"I send the Action Spell, Over Sword to the graveyard to destroy High-Speedroid Puzzle! Do it!" Yuya commanded as his magician shot a blast of blue energy into the sky that beautifully rained down on the Synchro monster.
"Not so fast! I banish Speedroid Rubix in my graveyard to activate it's effect! By banishing this card, the destruction of a Synchro monster is negated and then I can draw a card!" Yugo shouted as he drew while his monster endured the magical attack.
"But now nothing is protecting your monster from being destroyed through battle! Not only that, since my Magician wasn't special summoned, your monster's ATK won't double!" Yuya explained with a smirk.
"Damn it..." Yugo grunted.
"Battle! Sleight Hand Magician, attack High-Speedroid Puzzle! Magical Shot!" Yuya shouted as his magician fired a dazzling blue beam from it scepter at the ninja.
"It won't be that easy! Trap Activate! Speed Turn! Your monster is switched to defense mode and then it loses 500 DEF!" Yugo countered as the magical attack dissipated and the magician took a defensive stance.

"He keeps countering all of my moves..." Yuya grimaced under his breath before shaking his head and smiling. "You're as strong as ever, Yugo. I set a card facedown, turn end."

The monster rocketed forward and slashed through the magician with it's two blades, causing a powerful shockwave that shook Yuya's D-Wheel.

"Rushing Slash - Second Strike!" Yugo yelled as the monster flew above Yuya and raised it's sword.
"Continuous Trap, Entermate Pinch Helper activate! When I'm attacked directly, the attack is negated and I can special summon a Entemate with 800 ATK or less from my deck with it's effects negated! Come, Entermate Amenboat!" Yuya shouted as the bug appeared and blocked the attack.

A large light blue elephant appeared on Yuya's field. It had yellow clothing, a red bow tie, a top hat, and a hammer on the end of it's trunk.

"Battle! Machago Ita, attack Entermate Hammer Mammo! Rocket Break!" Yugo commanded as his monster boosted forward with it's rocket and swatted the elephant, causing an explosion that knocked Yuya's D-Wheel off course.

As Yuya's D-Wheel slid across the track, the boy grabbed an Action Card before regaining control of his ride.
"Action Spell, Destruction Draw! Since my special summoned monster was destroyed, I can draw two cards!" Yuya yelled as he drew.

After regaining control of his D-Wheel, Yuya looked to his left and saw that Yugo had caught up to him and was staring daggers at him.
"What's your problem?! Are you holding back or something?!" Yugo questioned.
"Holding back? But why-"
"You haven't even attempted to Pendulum Summon nor summon any of your dragons! You want to change things in this city, don't you?! You can't expect to show these people a better way by not giving it your best!"
"...Sorry...it's just...so many bad things have happened because of our power...and I'm just...afraid that something even worse might-"
Suddenly, an image of Yuri with a demonic grin and glowing purple and yellow eyes grabbing his pendulum pendant flashed in Yuya's mind, causing him to gasp for air.
"Yuya!" Yugo shouted in concern.
"I just...don't want what happened last back then...to happen again...I don't want to hurt you and Yuto ever again..."
"It's ok, Yuya."
Yuya perked up hearing those three words from his counterpart.
"No one has to get hurt this time. If we keep our emotions in check, we won't be overwhelmed! We've come too far to give into our hatred. So stop being afraid! Don't hold back!" Yugo angrily yelled.
Listening to his friend's words, Yuya thought back to his duel with the Obelisk Force where he had refused to use Odd Eyes and it almost costed him losing Serena. That duel was proof that no matter what happened, Odd Eyes was still his partner.
"Sorry Odd Eyes, I won't doubt you like last time." Yuya said before turning to his opponent. "Thank you, Yugo. Let's continue this grand finale duel! My turn, draw! I activate the Spell Card, Entermate Draw! By banishing up to three Entermates in my graveyard, I can draw a card for each monster banished plus one! I banish Sleight Hand Magician, Discover Hippo, and Hammer Mammo to draw four cards! Now, with the Scale 2 Entermate Gongcat, and the Scale 8 Timegazer Magician, I set the Pendulum Scale!"

"Trap Activate! Half Unbreak! My monster isn't destroyed and the damage is halved!" Yugo yelled as a bubble formed around his monster, preventing it from being destroyed.

"That means...!" Yuya uttered before fearfully looking at Odd Eyes.
"I tune my level 1 Speedroid Demonmagne to your level 6 Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yugo shouted as he pointed at his opponent's ace.
"Odd Eyes!" Yuya cried as his dragon was dragged towards the tuner monster. Once it was on Yugo's field, the magnet monster turned into a single green ring and flew around the dragon.
"Spread those wondrous and beautiful wings and strike down our enemies at light speed! Synchro Summon! Come forth! Level 7! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!" Yugo shouted as the white and blue dragon with a large tail and green crystals appeared with a loud roar.

"My dreams will come true! With Clear Wing by my side, I will pave the road towards the future I desire! I will become the new king!" Yugo shouted as he looked up at his ace dragon, who looked back at him and nodded.
"Those are bold words! But they couldn't be further from the truth! I'll be the one to win by showing everyone what true dueling is!" Yuya retorted.
"Well then, let's see how you handle this! Battle! Machago Ita, attack him directly! Rocket Break!" Yugo shouted as his machine-type flew forward.
"Gong Cat's Pendulum Effect! Once per turn, the damage from a direct attack is reduced to 0!" Yuya countered.
"Clear Wing, direct attack! Whirlwind Hell Dive Slasher!" Yugo shouted as his dragon spun through the air while surrounded by green energy, charging directly for Yuya.
"Trap Activate! Entermate Call! The direct attack is negated!" Yuya countered as the energy surrounding the dragon dissipated. "Then, I can add two Entermates to my hand whose combined DEF is equal to the ATK of the attacking monster!"
"Clear Wing and I are just getting started! I set a card facedown, turn end!" Yugo concluded.
"The bond between Odd Eyes and I is eternal, just like the power of my pendulum! My turn! I activate the Spell Card, Entermate Cast Change! By shuffling two Entermate monsters in my hand back into my deck, I draw three cards!"
After Yuya drew, he looked up at Yugo with a stern look in his eyes.
"I refuse to give into the darkness that lies in my heart! I won't let anything interfere with our duel! I won't be consumed by power!" Yuya shouted as he raised his hand to the sky.
"He's going to bring back Odd Eyes...meaning both dragons will be on the field at the same time..." Yuto uttered in a worried tone.
"...I know Yuya and Yugo will be ok...I believe in them..." Yuzu said with a faint smile.
"But I might..." Yuto trailed off, but Ruri grabbed his hand and gave him a warm smile.
"You can fight the darkness too, I know you can." Ruri told the boy.
"We believe in you." Shun reassured his friend.
"...You're right. As long as we're together, everything will be fine." Yuto nodded.
"What are you waiting for?! Bring it, Yuya!" Yugo yelled as his dragon let out a powerful roar.

"...I refuse to hurt anyone...I want to be a duelist that can show people that dueling violently isn't dueling at all...that truly finding enjoyment and smiling is the whole purpose of dueling...not using it as a tool to hurt others!" Yuya yelled as he clutched his heart, refusing to give in to his inner darkness.
Suddenly, their hearts began to beat slower and slower, as if their resolve was somehow weakening the influence of their connection.
"...Something's off...it's like whatever happened earlier when we dueled Yuri...somehow burnt out what was controlling us to the point that we can fight it off..." Yuto said as his heart rate returned to normal.
"It's like they got it out of their system or something..." Ruri trailed off.
"I knew that bonehead wouldn't let us down!" Rin shouted with a smirk.
"Yuya...show them that you don't have to resort to your anger to win...that's how you get your point across..." Serena said as she crossed her arms, hoping that her friend would be able to fight off his demons.

"But as long as Clear Wing is on the field, Yuya wont be able to activate Enlightenment Paladin's effect." Sawatari reminded the bulky teen.
"But if he destroys Clear Wing with Odd Eyes, he will no longer be restricted." Serena pointed out to the blond boy.
"Battle! Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon, attack Clear Wing Synchro Dragon! Spiral Strike Burst!" Yuya cried as his red dragon fired a powerful red blast at the white dragon.
"You won't be getting rid of Clear Wing so easily! Counter Trap Activate! Negate Attack! The attack is negated and the Battle Phase is forced to end!" Yugo countered as a barrier formed around his dragon, protecting it from the red blast.
"Tch...turn end!" Yuya concluded.
"Let's go! My turn! I activate the Spell Card, Graceful Charity! I draw three cards and then I discard two!" Yugo shouted as he drew and discarded before smirking. "With this...I have just what I need to settle this for good!"
"With Odd Eyes and Enlightenment Paladin by my side, you won't defeat me!" Yuya shouted as he looked at his oldest partner and then his newer monster that he considered a secondary ace.
"The bond between you and your monsters may be strong...but nothing compares to the bond Clear Wing and I share! I'll show you the strength of that bond right now, starting with this! I activate the Spell Card, Speedroid Arrow! For each Speedroid I control, a Spell or Trap Card is destroyed! Say goodbye to your Gong Cat!"
"Tch..." Yuya clicked his tongue as an arrow pierced through the Entermate.
"Machago Ita's effect! By releasing this card, all monsters on the field gain the effect to increase their levels by 1 whenever their levels change!"
As Yugo explained, his monster bursted into particles that spread throughout the field.
"Now, I activate the Spell Card, High-Speed Re-Level! By banishing a Speedroid monster in my graveyard, all monsters on the field become the that monsters level until the end of the turn! I banish Speedroid 5-6-Plane from my graveyard which I previously discarded. Meaning, all of our monsters become level 5!"

And since both of your monsters' effects activated, both of them will be wiped out!" Yugo shouted as the serious expression he had sported since the beginning of the match shifted to a victorious grin. "Show him our true power, Clear Wing! DICHROIC MIRROR!"
A wave of bright energy shot out of the white dragon's green prismatic wings, destroying both of Yuya's monster.
"Odd Eyes! Enlightenment Paladin!" Yuya cried as his field was cleared.
"Now, Clear Wing gains the ATK of the monsters destroyed through it's effect!" Yugo explained as his dragon's yellow eyes shined.

"U-Unreal! Not only did Yugo's amazing combo take out all of Yuya Sakaki's monsters, he also managed to raise his dragon's ATK to 7500!" Melissa shouted as the crowd cheered for the boy from the Commons.
"...T-This can't be..." Yuya hopelessly uttered.
"I told you that I would come at you with everything I've had! What you're fighting for is noble, but..." Yugo trailed off as his victorious grin shifted to a look of pure determination. "...I can't afford to lose here! I have to face Jack again! I can't stop fighting for a better future! BATTLE! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, attack Yuya directly! WHIRLWIND HELL DIVE SLASHER!"
The dragon twirled through the air while engulfed in green energy before flying at the defenseless tomato haired boy.
"You're right about one thing...I am fighting for something noble...and you are fighting for yourself...that's why I'll defeat you!" Yuya determinedly roared as he grabbed a card in his hand. "Soul Magician's effect activates in my hand! When a player would take battle damage, the damage is reduced to 0 and I can special summon this monster!"
A magician clad in green robes appeared in front of the white dragon.

The magician held out his hands, using all of his strength to summon a large magical green shield that stopped the white dragon's attack.
"D-Damn..." Yugo grunted in anger.
"You might be stronger than ever, but don't forget who overcame the odds and won during our last match! I won't be defeated by someone who fights for himself!" Yuya shouted, pointing back at Yugo.
"Even as the way you are now...you have no chance to complete your goals! Your dueling is full of selfishness!"
The words the king once said to Yugo rung throughout his mind, causing the boy to shake his head.
"I...set a card facedown...turn end." Yugo grunted in disappointment.

"Yugo is really going all out...but for some reason it feels like the momentum is shifting towards Yuya..." Serena noticed.

"Well we all know Yuya. The kid always thrives in these kind of situations." Crow said with a confident smile.

Furocious Dragon with luminous feral eyes, Beast Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya shouted as the red dragon appeared with yellow armor and blue fur on it's body.

The red dragon roared before firing a blue stream of energy from the large ring on it's back.
"Continuous Trap, Burning Sonic activate! By targeting Clear Wing, the incoming attack is negated!" Yugo countered as a fiery barrier blocked the blast. "And as long as this card is on the field, the target gains 500 ATK!"

The blue stream of energy collided with the incoming white dragon, causing a powerful explosion of blue and green energy that destroyed both dragons.
"Wow...!" Melissa gasped as the crowd look on in awe at the sight of the beautiful explosion.
Yuya smiled as he looked on at the crowd before looking back at his opponent with a confident look.
"Beast Eyes Pendulum Dragon, direct attack! Hell Dive Burst!" Yuya roared as his dragon fired a powerful blast of flames that resembled the head of a dragon.
"Three Eyed Dice's effect activates in my graveyard! By banishing it, the attack is negated!" Yugo countered as a triangular barrier blocked the incoming blast.
Yuya grunted as his assault was stopped, but he looked up and realized an Action Card was coming up. He picked the card up from the track and his eyes narrowed as he looked at it.
"I can't use this yet..." Yuya said under his breaths as he placed the card in his hand. "I end my turn!"
"My turn, draw! I activate the Spell Card, Treasure Cards from the Heavens! Now, both of us can draw until we have six cards in our hands!" Yugo explained as he readied his hand on top of his deck.
"Let's go, Yugo!" Yuya shouted as he gripped his deck.
"DRAW!" Both teens shouted in unison as they drew up new hands.
"Those dragons you Fusion Summoned, they represent your bonds with Yuzu, right?" Yugo asked his opponent.
"That's right. It was because of her, and by extension Sora, that I was able to call upon them. Yuzu striving to evolve her dueling through learning how to Fusion Summon gave me the hint I needed to evolve myself." Yuya answered as he reminisced about his time with his friends in Standard.
"Yuya..." Yuzu uttered with a bright smile.
"Hmph..." Sora smirked as he crossed his arms.
"I guess we got something in common then. I'll show you the power that I inherited from Yuzu! I activate the Spell Card, Miracle Synchro Fusion! By banishing Fusion materials in my graveyard, I can Fusion Summon a Fusion monster that requires a Synchro monster as material! I banish High-Speedroid Kitedrake and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
The two Synchro monsters briefly appeared on the field before swirling into the fusion vortex.

Level 8! Clear Wing Machine Dragon!" Yugo shouted as the grey mechanized dragon with green and blue crystals on it's body appeared.

"I must say, Yuzu must be a great teacher for helping you bring out a powerful monster like that." Yuya said as he scratched the top of his helmet.
"Yeah, it's like she's fighting right along side me. It's because of her I've gotten this far! And Shun too! They've both given me the courage and determination to keep striving for victory!" Yugo shouted with a small smile as he thought about his teammates.
"I can say the same for Crow and Serena. They've helped me through a lot and have encouraged me to not give up hope! For that, I'll continue to fight for my our team and for my mission! My turn, draw!" Yuya determinedly shouted as he dramatically drew. "I must thank you, Yugo. Thanks to your Treasure from the Heavens, I have all of the pieces for my victory!"

The magician-types appeared in the middle of the altar and turned into 7 flames that circled around it.

Dragon of the fractured earth, Odd Eyes Gravity Dragon!" Yuya shouted as his blue and brown dragon appeared that had rock-like armor with chains around it.

"Pendulum into Xyz, Synchro, Fusion, and Ritual...unbelievable..." Melissa uttered while at a complete loss for words as the crowd roared.
"He got rid of Yugo's only monster and all of his facedown cards...he's completely defenseless now...!" Rin uttered in shock.
"This is Yuya's full power...the true potential of Pendulum." Yuto said as he looked on at his red and green haired counterpart.
"That's the creator of Pendulum for you! Keep it up, Yuya!" Sawatari yelled.
"C'mon kid! You got this!" Crow cheered.
"This is my...entertainment!" Yuya shouted with a bright smile as his elemental dragons each released a blast of energy from their mouths.
The multi colored beams shot into the sky and collided, leaving a wave of colorful sparkles that filled the air.
"Wow!"
"Amazing!"
"Heheheheh...you see what happens when you don't hold back? Things actually start to get fun!" Yugo shouted with a short smirk.
"...Yugo..." Yuya uttered at the sight of his friend's smile which immediately returned to a serious look. "Just like you...I'll put everything I have into my goal! BATTLE! Let's end this! Odd Eyes Meteorburst Dragon, attack Yugo directly! At this moment, Odd Eyes Meteorburst dragon's effect activates! While I control another Odd Eyes monster, my dragon gains 300 ATK for every Odd Eyes monster on my field! Since there are five, Odd Eyes Meteorburst dragon gains 1500 ATK! Burning Force!"
Odd Eyes Meteorburst (2500/2000)-(4000/2000)
"Go, Spiral Inferno Burst!" Yuya yelled as his monster fired a burning crimson blast at his opponent.
"I guess I got lucky picking this card up then!Action Spell, Great Escape! The Battle Phase is forced to end!" Yugo shouted as he activated the card he picked up from the previous turn.
"You're luck has run out! Odd Eyes Vortex Dragon's effect activates! Once per either player's turn, when a card effect is activated, by shuffling a Pendulum monster that's face up in my Extra Deck back into my deck, the effect activation of that card is negated and it's destroyed! I shuffle Entermate Scroll Sorcerer back into my deck to negate and destroy Great Escape!" Yuya shouted as a burst of wind destroyed the Action Spell. "Now you have nothing left! This is the finale! GOOO!"
As Yuya pumped his fist through the air, the stream of fiery energy flew directly at Yugo.
"YUGO!" Rin cried.
"...You're power is unbelievable...but I've still got one more chance! The Trap Card, Speed Gamble's effect in the graveyard activates!" Yugo shouted as the fiery blast stopped within inches of making contact.
"The second card you discarded from Graceful Charity's effect...!" Yuya gasped before looking at his Ritual monster. "Even so, Odd Eyes Gravity Dragon's effect forces you to pay 500 life points whenever you activate a card effect!"
"Grr..." Yugo grunted as the gravity around him increased for a moment.
YUGO: 3200-2700 LP
"...By banishing this card when I'm attacked directly, I can check the top five cards of my deck and if the number of Speedroid monsters within those cards is equal or greater than the number of monsters you control, the Battle Phase is forced to end! And if the number of Speedroid monsters is less then the number of monsters you control, my life points are halved!" Yugo yelled as he placed his hand on top of his deck.
"To summarize, if Yugo doesn't get four Speedroid monsters, he will lose the duel!" Melissa shouted at the crowd looked on in anticipation.
"Can he really do it...?" Ruri questioned in an unsure tone.
"C'mon, Yugo...I believe in you..." Rin uttered in a hopeful manner.
"With all of my heart...I know I have what it takes...to become king! That's why...I'll be the winner of this duel! The first!" Yugo yelled as he revealed the first card. "Alright! Speedroid Domino Butterfly!"
"Yugo's off to a good start!" Melissa yelled.
"The second!" Yugo shouted as he revealed the second card. "Yes! Speedroid Pachingo-Kart!"
"Tch..." Yuya clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"The third!" Yugo shouted as he revealed the next card. "T-The Trap Card, Dice Colosseum of Fate..."
"Now the next two cards have to be Speedroid monstsrs." Ruri noted.
"...Don't give up, Yugo..." Shun uttered under his breath.
"I can still do this! The fourth!" Yugo shouted as he revealed the fourth card. "Alright! Speedroid Marble Machine!"
"Just one more card! Can he really do it?! Can he stay alive?!" Melissa questioned.
Yugo placed his hand on his deck for possibly the final time in the duel. He couldn't help but feel his hand twitch as sweat formed on his forehead. The boy took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"C'mon...my deck...don't fail me now...the future I'm striving for is depending on this very draw..."
The boy opened his determined eyes and gripped the top card of his deck.
"THE FIFTH!" Yugo roared as he held the final card high in the air while everyone to held their breath for a brief moment.
"...Heh..." Yuya let out a small laugh as he saw the card.
"No way..." Melissa gasped as she looked at the card.
"It's..." Yuto trailed off as his eyes widened.
"...Speedroid Ohajikid!" Rin shouted with glee.
"Since four of the cards were Speedroid monsters and you control four monsters...the Battle Phase is forced to end!" Yugo commanded as the fiery attack that was floating in front of him dissipated.
"He survived..." Yuzu uttered in surprised tone.
"Of course he did! Go, Yugo!" Rin loudly cheered.
"E-Even after his entire field was wiped clean, Yugo still managed to survive Yuya's seemingly unbeatable combo with his miraculous luck! I've never seen such an insane turn of events!" Melissa shouted as the crowd roared in excitement.
"This is the best duel ever!"
"They are so cool!"
"Go, Yuya Sakaki!"
"Win this duel, Yugo!"
"They're enjoying the duel..." Yuya smiled as he looked on at the crowd. Even if he failed to secure the victory, his dueling and his message that dueling didn't need to be violent to be enjoyable was getting through to them.
"Even though he didn't win, Yuya managed to gain an incredible lead." Serena noted.
"Keep up the pressure, Yuya!" Sora cheered.
"I'm impressed, Yugo...it seems like your deck responded to your resolve. But despite your luck, you aren't the one who is destined to win." Yuya spoke as his cheerful demeanor shifted to one of seriousness.
"What the hell makes you say that?!" Yugo growled.
"You're only fighting to secure your own future while I'm fighting for show the people of this dimension a better way!" Yuya shouted as he pointed back at his opponent.
"That's not..." Yugo wanted to retort the red and green haired boy's claim, but he couldn't find the words just like when he dueled the king.
"That's why I have to be the one who wins this duel! I'll show everyone that dueling is meant to be used as a tool for violence! I'll show everyone that hurting people with dueling isn't true entertainment!" Yuya shouted as he clutched his fist. "I will be the winner! I set a card facedown, turn end! At this moment, the effects of Scale Down and Odd Eyes Meteorburst end."
Trump Witch 4 -
Odd Eyes Meteorburst (4000/2000)-(2500/2000)
"...Yuya...you have no idea what it's like...to have nothing..." Yugo uttered as he lowered his head, causing his opponent to look back at the boy. "...I never had parents...or a home...just Rin...it was us against the world."
"Yugo..." Rin uttered as she saw the boy's saddened expression.
"That's why we decided to build a D-Wheel...we were going to compete in this tournament and win...that way we could have a bright future..."
The crowd looked on in silence at the boy from the Commons. Throughout the tournament, many residents of the Synchro Dimension had grown attached to the boy, even the Tops. This allowed for the crowd to actually have empathy for the boy despite him being a Common.
"I will win...I have to win...everything we went through...can't be for nothing...I won't let it be for nothing!" Yugo screamed as he gripped the top card of his deck. "Even against your seemingly unbeatable field, I won't back down! MY TURN!"
As Yugo drew, his eyes widened as he looked at the card before he glared at his opponent's field.
"Ritual...Fusion...Synchro...Xyz...I'll defeat them all right now!" Yugo declared as he pointed at Yuya's field of elemental dragons.
Yuya was shocked by his friend's declaration, but that shock quickly turned to excitement as the boy couldn't help but grin.
"Alright, Yugo! Let's go!"
"Here I come, Yuya! The counterattack begins now!"
And that's all for now. The second half is very close to be finished so it should come out shortly. I wanted to split this duel up into two chapters is because if it stayed as one, the chapter would be over 30k words which I didn't really want to do.
As for the character interactions in this chapter, Yuya and Yuzu's relationship get a bit more time, which is something I wanted to give them because they've barely been together during this arc. Yuya and Serena get to talk and Serena starts to open up about her past and complicated feelings towards Yuri. I wanted to use this opportunity to show how Yuya's different from cannon. This Yuya understands that some people will never understand his ways and wants to make sure dueling isn't used for violence so people can have fun. A little different from "Everyone Smile!". Serena also has to get over her guilt about possibly being the reason Yuri became a monster.
We get to see Rin and Yugo having more interaction then they did in the actual anime, setting up a possible relationship between the two in the future. Yuzu also being a great wingman for Yugo by saying how "he's matured because of you, Rin" is also something I needed to right. To be completely honest, the Yuya/Serena and Yugo/Yuzu friendships have been so fun for me.
Then we have the Lancers having a small interaction with Sora, Shun thanking Yuzu to accomplishing her promise, and Sawatari being Sawatari. Another thing that's came out of this arc for me is the Masumi/Sawatari dynamic which I never knew I liked so much. I think it kind of makes sense in a weird way since Masumi is Yuzu's rival and so Sawatari is Yuya's rival (besides Reiji).
Then we have the duel. I don't honestly have much to say except there are some crazy things to come, so be ready. The next chapter will literally just be Yuya and Yugo duking it out. Let me know who you think is going to win!

Variable Zero: In Scale 42, Shun dueled the Obelisk Force alone so Yuzu and Sora could get away. Then, Sawatari and Masumi found him after their duel with Darkness and helped him (this happened offscreen).

charly12: It'll definitely take some time for the group to return to their old dynamic. Things can't always be peaceful. I honestly like Go Rush because it's a literal continuation series where the previous protag contributes to the plot (and the writers still don't let Yuga win even in a different series).
T.V. 2000: Crow and Team Satisfaction's complete backstory will be explained in a few chapters. Let's just say that Yusei not being there led them to be much more violent.
darktheking73: Best girl Serena in the Xyz Dimension was a completely missed opportunity in the anime in my opinion. Her being there will definitely make things interesting.
