Leah looked at her sister-in-law Candy and handed her a burger and fries takeout box from the local diner. "I brought lunch. I didn't want to come empty handed." she told Candy.
"Oh thank you I am so hungry. So when did you get here?" Candy asked.
"Well I came straight here. Evan has been calling me again, and he just doesn't get the message that it's over. I've moved on and married your older brother, and that shit head is still calling, and saying that I'm his, and that I will always be his." said Leah.
"Who is this guy?" Elli Roosevelt, Candy's new boss, asked.
"My abusive ex before I met, and married Candy's brother. It wasn't always physical; it was more of him trying to take me away from my family. Every night after my nursing shift at the hospital, which was six to six, I would meet my dad after work, and have a few beers with him, and his coworkers. This was before he died of heart problems. Anyway, Evan said he didn't like me hanging with my dad's coworkers, and it was just a constant fight. After that he would beat the shit out of me, and to avoid that I just worked more, and more to avoid everything all together, and make that extra money." said Leah.
"It got really bad. My brother told me everything, and lets put it this way that Evan Stevenson needs a restraining order." said Candy.
"I got one in Tacoma Washington, but do I need to file seperate papers here in Charming?" asked Leah taking a bite of her burger. Then feeling a bit bad that Elli didn't have anything to heat Leah cut half of her large buger, and gave him half of her fries. "Here you look hungry." she added.
"You are too kind." said Elli. "And I'll get that paperwork for you." he added.
"Thanks boss." said Candy.
"You are a good cop who loves her family so I am going to help you with this one. If Evan ever comes to my town he will be behind bars." said Elli.
"Thanks." said Leah as she proceeded to fill out the paperwork. Getting up she hugged her sister-in-law before saying, I need to get a house, but for now I'll stay with my dad's sister. She owns the garage here in town." she added. Elli decided not to say what he wanted to say what he wanted about the club. This woman was innocent and was always on the outside. Now she married a member, and her aunt was married to the current president. Even though Clay Morrow was president, and in Stockton he could see that Leah might go downhill. He vowed to help her and be there for her.
After leaving the police station, after having lunch with Candy, filing her restraining order with her boss Eli, and having lunch with everyone she decided to head to her aunt's house. Her husband's large truck still had the U-Haul trailer on the back of it with all of their things inside. She had to find them, and house, but until then she figured she would stay at her aunt's, and maybe ask her if she needed help working in the office at her garage.
Leah is a registered nurse, but Happy insisted that she held off on getting a job until after their child was born, and instead just take it easy. Lupehole he just said the hospital, and not at her aunt's business. Pulling into her aunt's driveway she saw a blue Ford Edge that was already parked there. Moving to the side so the other car could get out she parked, got out of the car and knocked on the door.
Seconds later a young woman, not much older than her with a baby on her hip, and a pregnant belly opened the door. "Can I help you?" she asked.
"Hey I'm Leah Maddoc, Lowman is my married name, and I'm Gemma's niece. Her my dad was her brother." said Leah.
"Oh come on in. What happed with your dad?" the woman asked.
"Tara it was the family flaw." Gemma came in and just embraced her niece. "Nate came to me when we were putting dad in the home, and told me all about his daughter, and that the flaw was being not very friendly to him, and because of that he had limited time. I'm just glad that both dad, and my brother got to see one another one last time." she added.
"Hey Aunt Gemma I was wondering if I could stay with you, at least until I get a house, and also I was wondering if you needed help in the office?" asked Leah.
"Oh please help! I am so close to just bitch slapping someone. Gemma is on house arrest, and I Just cannot deal with some of the shit on top of my career, Abel, and my pregnancy." said Tara.
"Well I'm pregnant also, and I assure you that I have more on my plate than you do. My mother in law isn't well, and is now out of the home in Bakersfield, and living in a house, but Rosa won't to shit to help out, and it looks like Candy, and I will have to make a trip to Bakersfield. Also like you my husband is in Stockton. Tara stop doing the poor me poor me shit, and just handle your business." Leah hated those that took not responsibility for their actions, and blamed it all on others.
"Why you stupid...," Tara began.
"Enough both of you. Leah you can take over the garage. Chucky will show you what to do, and if any of the guys get out of hand just tell them, that I said not to mess with you." said Gemma.
"I don't need you to have my back against the guys who work for you. I have these." holding out her arm Leah showed Gemma her antique 3 charot engament ring, and wedding band following in. Then she showed her forearm of a menacing cow getting ready to take flight with the name Happy below it. "These tell everyone in the biker, and the civilian world that I'm off limits, and I'm not afraid to throw a punch if need be. Evan had beaten me down, but with Happy my confidence is back." said Leah.
"Okay lets make dinner. Leah this is your cousin's son Abel, and you have another cousin on the way." said Gemma.
"Sounds like this family is getting biggeer aunt Gemma." said Leah as she heard the sound of bikes coming into the driveway.
"Family dinner tonight, and yes you are apart of this family." said Gemma as a few guys walked in. "Leah this is Opie, Piney, Chibs, Quinn...," Gemma started.
"And of course I know my husband's best friend Herman. How are you doing?" Leah asked Herman Kozik.
"Herman?" Chibs asking laughing.
"Really? You had to use my first name Leah?" Kozik asked.
"What are you gonna do about it?" Leah fired back. Herman Kozik, and Leah Maddoc-Lowman had a brother sister relationship, and would just fire back at one another, and give one another shit all the time, but would back one another always.
"Hey I'm new to the group so to speak, and it looks like you are new also. I'm Lyla." a pretty blond said to Leah. "Opie's fiance.
"I'm Leah, and it's nice to meet you. I'm Gemma's niece via her brother who was my dad, and I'm Happy's wife, and this asshole right here is like my brother." she said pointing to Herman.
"I'm just glad Tara never made a mention about handjobs." Chibs said.
"Really you want to bring up what I said at the last family dinner, because I was pissed off and stressed out when I said it?" Tara put in.
"Everyone sit your asses down. I don't want to throw down a perfectly good dish once again." said Gemma as everyone sat down. "Kozik after dinner you unload the U-haul and take everything up to the guest room, and drop the trailer at TM." she added.
"Thanks for letting me stay here Aunt Gemma until I can get a house or an apartment, trailer, whatever." said Leah.
"You are my niece, and I love you, and I promised your father I would look out for you." said Gemma.
"So is your niece single?" asked Phill the prospect.
"No she is not you dumbass. See that big ass diamond on her finger that clearly is a family herilome, and also look at her tattoo. Fucking dumbass." Opie muttered. "Leah sorry for these pricks. I'm your cousin Jax's best friend, and as such I will look out for you. I'm Opie by the way." the gentle giant said.
"And I'm his dad. Piney. Call me the old drunk." the older man said getting a snicker from everyone. "Fuck off guys. Anayway welcome to our family." he said.
"Thanks guys." Leah felt like she had found home while her husband was in Stockton. She found her aunt, and the woman who her cousin loved, her cousin's best friend, and fiance. Okay who cared that she was a porn star. It was legal, legit work. She had her husband's best friend Kozik, even though he was an annoying prick at times. And best of all she had Candy, and the rest of the police force on her side if Evan ever decided to come to Charming. Life was good at the moment.
Leaving work Candy Elgee locked up and proceeded to her car. She didn't go to the family dinner at Gemmas because Happy wasn't there, and she wasn't with her mom or her aunt. Eli Roosevelt was a bit rigid so she had to walk a fine line. Walking out to her car her cellphone rang.
"Hello.
"Hey daughter how are you doing?"
"Why are you calling me?" Candy asked.
"Can I not check on my only daughter?"
"No you cannot because you left mom, and I. All you fucking cared about was your cause, and not mom, and not me. So do me a favore and fuck off!" Candy snapped.
"Daughter I will always be in your life. Your sister in law's Uncle Clay, and I are tight, and we are always doing deals with one another."
"Just fuck off!" Candy hung up the phone, and was tempted to punch a wall.
"Hey are you alright." Candy turned, and saw her former boss Wayne, though he didn't look how he once was.
"What happened Wayne? I just got a call from my estranged father, and I told him to fuck off. What's going on with you?" Candy asked.
"Della left me. She said she didn't want to spend her retirement taking care of her sick husband. She would rather go on cruises and find rich men." said Wayne.
"What a fucking selfish bitch. I am not racist person, but that...never mind I'm not even gonna say it because it's all about character. What wife leaves her husband over medicle issues. Come one Wayne you can stay at my house." said Candy.
