Episode 289: Sky High Battle!
After an exciting day dealing with Team Aqua over in the weather institution, Sora, Kairi, Lisia, Anabel, Yugi, Téa, Joey, Tristan, Mai, Bakura, Duke, Serenity, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, and Celeste have arrived to Fortree City at seven in the evening.
"Fortree City. Made it at last," Sora said.
"Pi," Pikachu said.
"I don't know about the rest of you, but I think I'm going to need to have myself a good night sleep after all the walking we did today," Joey said.
"That actually sounds like a good idea since the whole Team Aqua ordeal," Kairi said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"Yeah, we've earned ourselves a good rest. We might as well hit the Pokémon Center since the Gym is probably closing by now anyway," Sora said.
"I agree. I could use a hot bath to wash all that sweat off," Mai said.
With that said, the group headed for the Pokémon Center to rest for the night. The first thing that the girls did was head for the showers to bathe as Sora and Yugi rested their feet as Joey was buying a soda from a vending machine. The soda can reads: "Sunkist Oran Berry soda". Joey guzzled down the soft drink and let out a loud burp.
"Oh, man, I needed that," Joey said. He took another drink as Sora exchanged Shelgon, Lairon, Vibrava, and Metang for Spoink, Meditite, Carvanha, and Anorith. Sora stepped out with Yugi and decided to get some training done before bed. Yugi has sent out his Raichu, Sirfetch'd, Aerodactyl, and Gallade to train. During the training, Spoink, Carvahna, Meditite, Anorith, Duskull, and Shuppet have evolved.
After they got some training done, everyone all had their meal and slept soundly after the day they had. Well, everyone except for Anabel since Xipak and Celeste wanted to speak with her alone. They explained to the young telepath about them following Sora and Kairi and why.
"Is that it? The reason you're following Sora and Kairi is because of Roxas and Xion?" Anabel asked. Xipak and Celeste nodded. She understood they wanted to be with them so much, just like Pikachu and Angel. "I can say, it's quite a story you told me. And I'm sorry that you had to say goodbye to them. And I do hope that I get to meet them someday."
"Pikachu. Pika, Pika, Pikachu, Pika," Xipak said. Anabel was a bit confused by what Xipak said to her.
"What do you mean I already met them, and they're closer than I think they are?" Anabel asked.
"Eevee, Eevee, vee, Eevee, vee," Celeste said.
"So they're with Sora and Kairi right now. I get it. I take it that they never met them before," Anabel said.
"Pikachu," Xipak said.
"Right, not that you know of," Anabel said. "But I have a feeling that maybe that they did meet them, but didn't know it."
She didn't know how right she was. Anabel looked over to Sora sleeping soundly and then the image of Roxas appeared over him, briefly surprising her. She then looked over to Kairi and she saw an image of Xion, and she was just as surprised. She decided to go right to sleep right along with her new friends.
As Anabel slept, she enters the realm of sleep, and she enters Sora's heart. Once inside, she sees the stained glass with the image of Sora and Kairi in their old clothes and holding hands. Their eyes were also closed, like they were asleep. She looked and she saw the faces of some people she had not met. She saw Pikachu, Angel, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Delia, Kaito, Cattleya, Danny, Tracey, Professor Oak, Karen, Yuta, Mirei, Seth, Yuki right beside Sora and Kairi. And there was also Riku, Naminé, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Max, Rei, Ben, and Lisia on the bottom. She was awestruck by what she saw.
"Who are you?" A voice asked. She turned to see a hooded boy approach her.
"I could ask you the same thing," Anabel said. The figure removed his hood to reveal himself as Roxas.
"Hey, you're the boy in that picture!" Anabel exclaimed.
"You refer to Ventus, but no, I'm not him," Roxas said.
"Then, you must be Roxas, right?" Anabel asked.
"I take it that you were talking to Xipak," Roxas said.
"Yes. I know that you were with Organization XIII, but you left them, didn't you?" Anabel asked.
"I did, because I didn't want to be their puppet any longer," Roxas said.
"I never met you, but I can tell you've been through so much," Anabel said. "But can I ask you a question?"
"Sure. What do you want to know?" Roxas asked.
"Why do you look like that boy Ventus? I can't put my finger on it," Anabel said.
"Honestly, I don't know. I don't think Sora knows. He doesn't even know I'm in here," Roxas said.
"Why are you here, Roxas?" Anabel asked.
"Because it's to make things right for me, for Sora, for Kairi, and for Xion. We had to go back where we came from for the good of everyone. The hardest thing about it, we had to leave Xipak and Celeste behind," Roxas said.
"Xipak still misses you, Roxas, and he hopes that you'll come back to him one day," Roxas said. Roxas smiled at that.
"I miss Xipak, too. When you wake up, can you tell Xipak that I miss him, too? I would appreciate that," Roxas said.
"I will Roxas," Anabel said. "I think I'll go see Xion, and I don't have too far to look."
"Okay, and tell Xion I said hi and that I still love her, won't you?" Roxas requested.
"Sure," Anabel said. She vanishes in a sparkle of gold, leaving Roxas with a smile.
"Xion. I thought of you everyday since I came back to Sora. And I know you're doing the same thing," Roxas said.
Anabel enters Kairi's heart and she saw a stained glass pillar of Kairi and her family, and there was Sora, his family, and friends in the bottom. And came walking in is a hooded girl. Anabel lands on her feet as the hooded girl approached her.
"Are you Xion?" Anabel asked.
"Yes, I am. How do you know my name?" Xion asked. Anabel was surprised to hear that Xion has the same voice as Kairi. She removed her hood and she was even more shocked when she saw she looks like Kairi, but with black hair.
"I had a talk with Xipak and Celeste. She misses you just as much as Xipak misses Roxas," Anabel said.
"I see. I miss her, too," Xion said.
"Celeste also told me that you lived with Kairi's family for a time, isn't that right?" Anabel asked.
"Yeah, it's right. When I first woke up, I had no idea who I was, but the name Xion just popped in, and so I went with it. And when I first arrived, they made me feel welcomed, and that was when I first met Roxas, Celeste, and Axel," Xion said.
"I take it that you were really happy with them, Xion," Anabel said.
"I couldn't be happier. I'm glad that I met them and that I had a family. They often told me with kindness that Kairi would get along with me well," Xion said.
"I hope that they were right," Anabel said.
"Since you spoke with Xipak and Celeste, I wanna know something, did you speak with Roxas already?" Xion asked.
"I did. He wanted to tell you that he said hi, and that he still loves you," Anabel said. This made Xion smile.
"Oh, Roxas," Xion said lovingly.
"And if you want, I could pass the message on to Celeste when I wake up," Anabel said.
"I would be grateful. Thank you," Xion said. Anabel then leaves Kairi's heart and back into her own dreams.
On the next morning, Anabel woke up and she passed on the message of Roxas and Xion, telling them both that they miss them. Xipak and Celeste were happy since it made their morning. Later, Sora exchanged his newly evolved Pokémon for Swellow, Corphish, Snorunt, Shelgon, Lairon, and Vibrava to get started for some training. Kairi has started on some training of her own. So Corphish, Snorunt, Swablu and Baltoy have all evolved with the help of Anabel. She had sent out an Alakazam, a Metagross, and an Espeon to assist.
"Not too shabby, Sora. I don't need to be a telepath to tell that you and your Pokémon are pretty close to one another," Anabel said with a compliment.
"Thanks, Anabel," Sora said.
"And you, too, Kairi. I'm impressed," Anabel said.
"You're very nice, Anabel," Kairi said.
Anabel still couldn't get over how Kairi and Xion looked and sounds alike, but she couldn't let herself get distracted.
"So Sora, have you thought of which ones you'll be using?" Anabel asked, bringing up the matter of Sora's Gym battle.
"Well, since I'll be up against Flying-type Pokémon, I think I'll be using Pikachu, Lairon, Sealeo, or Glalie for this one," Sora said.
"Using Electric, Ice, and Rock-type Pokémon is a smart move to make Sora, but you should remember that even with a type advantage, it won't be easy for you," Yugi said.
"Yeah, I know, Yugi. But I'm going to try my best out there," Sora said.
"That's the spirit, Sora," Joey said with a thumbs up.
"How many Pokémon will the Gym Leader use against Sora?" Serenity asked.
"That's depends on the rules that the Gym Leader sets. It could be either two, three, or maybe four, five, or six. Every Gym in the regions has their own set of rules, but the only catch is, it has to be approved by the Pokémon League Association," Yugi said.
"Well, we should get down there and cheer Sora on," Lisia said.
"You've said it, Lisia. Let's go," Kairi said.
"Eevee, vee!" Angel said.
"Eevee!" Celeste added.
"Pikachu!" Xipak said.
With that said, the group has made it over to the Fortree City Gym and saw how it was made to look a Gym suitable for Flying-type Pokémon, especially bird Pokémon like Pidgeot and Swellow.
"Well, this looks like the place alright," Tristan said.
"We might as well step in," Yugi said.
"Yeah," Sora said. With that said, the group entered inside and they looked around. They saw some statutes of Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and some other bird Pokémon as well.
"Welcome," a new voice said. They looked around and saw a woman of medium height and slender. She has long, lavender hair tied in a thin ponytail with a white band, and violet eyes. Her hair sticks up at the side in two tufts, representing feathers. She's wearing a gray flying-suit, a pair of white gloves and trousers, with small decorations resembling wings, and a pair of gray shoes. The back of her flying suit is shaped like a pair of wings. "I can see you're quite a group. Which one of you is the challenger?"
"That's me. My name's Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town, and I came all this way to challenge you to a Gym battle," Sora said.
"My name is Winona and I accept your challenge," Winona said. "We will have a four-on-four battle. I hope you find it acceptable."
"Fine with me, Winona," Sora said.
"Excellent. Follow me to the battlefield please," Winona said.
Winona led Sora to the battlefield as Kairi, Lisia, Anabel, Yugi, Téa, Joey, Tristan, Mai, Bakura, Duke, Serenity, Angel, Xipak, and Celeste have taken their seats in the bleachers. They saw that the battlefield was like an air show. Sora and Winona stood on opposite sides of the battlefield and rose in podiums. Sora knew it was going to look like a sky-high battle. Before it got started, Winona bent to her knees and crossed her arms in prayer.
"What's she doing?" Joey asked.
"I don't know," Kairi said.
"Oh, great sky above, I ask that you grant us wings. Grant us your power to conquer even the strongest of stormy winds. And please, guide us to your great blue world and let us share in its infinite power and majesty!" Winona said, standing up and spreading her arms like a bird spreading its wings.
"What was that all about?" Tristan asked.
"Don't ask me," Mai said.
"I think it was some kind of prayer. I heard that Trainers who specialize with Flying-type Pokémon often would use this kind of prayer," Yugi said.
The referee took his position for the battle to start. The referee arrived to get things started.
"The battle between the Fortree City Gym Leader Winona and the challenger Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town is about to begin! Each Trainer will be using four Pokémon each! During the battle, only the challenger will be allowed to substitute Pokémon! The battle will be over when all four of either the challenger's or the Gym Leader's Pokémon are unable to continue battling! Let the match begin!" The referee announced.
"Take flight, Swellow!" Winona called out, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. Her Pokéball opened and a green Swellow flies around and stars swirls around Swellow upon entry. Swellow's crests are orange.
"Look at that! That Swellow's a colored differently!" Serenity said.
"That would be a Shiny Pokémon," Anabel said.
"Now let's see how Sora will respond," Duke said. Sora turned to Pikachu.
"You're going in, Pikachu," Sora said. Pikachu nodded and stepped in the battlefield.
"Sora's starting out with Pikachu. That's a smart move," Téa said.
"Yeah, but I think Winona might have some tricks up her sleeves," Mai said.
"Swellow! Begin with Wing Attack!" Winona ordered. Swellow flew down towards Pikachu with its wings out.
"Dodge and use use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt right at the Shiny Swallow Pokémon, but Winona just grinned.
"I was expecting that! Swellow! Use Double Team!" Winona ordered. Swellow made several copies of itself as Pikachu's attack phased through his target, surprising him. The numerous Swellow surrounded the Mouse Pokémon, catching him by surprise.
"Pika?!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Now, use Sky Attack!" Winona ordered. Swellow and the copies began to give off a white glow, getting ready to strike against Pikachu.
"Pikachu, get ready," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu said. All of the Swellow then flew right at Pikachu with a Sky Attack.
"What's he doing?" Téa asked.
"Winona's not the only one with a trick up sleeve," Kairi said.
"Okay, Thunderbolt! All around!" Sora called out. Pikachu unleashed a Thunderbolt, shocking all of the Swellow. The others all disappeared, leaving the original. "Okay, use Quick Attack!" Pikachu dashed right at Swellow with a Quick Attack.
"Two can play the speed game. Swellow! Use Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered. Swellow flew and darts right at Pikachu. Both Pokémon collided with each other, each dealing some damage on the other. Swellow now ends up being paralyzed from Pikachu's Static ability.
"Swellow! Use Wing Attack!" Winona ordered. Swellow attempts to use Wing Attack, but its paralysis kicked in. "No! Swellow's paralyzed!"
"Swellow's not attacking," Bakura said.
"It has to be Pikachu's Static. It happens when an opponent gets physical contact with Pikachu," Anabel said.
"That will mean Swellow won't be flying as fast as it normally would. Sora's got this in the bag!" Lisia said.
"Okay, use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu formed a ball of electricity and sends it right at Swellow, dealing some heavy damage. "Finish Swellow off with an Iron Tail!" Pikachu swings his tail, hitting the Shiny Swallow Pokémon, resulting in a knockout.
"Swellow is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora took the lead!" Téa cheered.
"Yay!" Lisia said.
"One down, three to go," Joey said.
Winona called back her Swellow and smiled.
"You battled well, Swellow. You've earned a well-deserved rest," Winona said. She looked directly at Sora. "Very impressive, Sora. The speed and power of your Pikachu are signs that you raised it very well."
"Thanks, Winona. Your Swellow's really cool, too," Sora said.
"Thanks for the kind compliment, but the battle's just getting started," Winona said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Pelipper! I choose you!" Her Pokéball opened and Pelipper came out, ready to battle.
"You still good to go, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pika," Pikachu nodded.
"Thought so. Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt right at Pelipper.
"Use Protect!" Winona ordered. Pelipper uses Protect to block Pikachu's Thunderbolt. "Use Hydro Pump!" Pelipper fired Hydro Pump right at the Mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge it, Pikachu!" Sora called out. Pikachu dodges Pelipper's Hydro Pump with his incredible speed. "Use Electro Ball!" Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and sends it right at the Water Bird Pokémon.
"Pelipper! Use Steel Wing!" Winona ordered. Pelipper flew right at Pikachu with its wings giving off a metallic glow.
"Dodge it and use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and sends it right at Pelipper.
"Use Protect!" Winona ordered. Pelipper uses Protect to block Pikachu's Electro Ball.
"Look at that. Those two are really going at it like crazy," Joey said.
"Yeah, but that Pelipper isn't even tired at all. The way that Pelipper moves and times when to use Protect is just brilliant," Bakura said.
"What do you mean, Bakura?" Tristan asked.
"I think he means that Pelipper being a Water-type is how she counters Trainers who uses Rock-types. And having Pelipper using Protect is a good strategy," Bakura said.
"Yeah, that's right. And I can imagine what she's got against Electric-type Pokémon," Kairi said.
"I'm with Kairi. Let's see if Sora will stick with Pikachu all through the match," Mai said.
"Pelipper! Use Hydro Pump!" Winona ordered. Pelipper fired Hydro Pump right at the Mouse Pokémon, dealing some damage. Sora remembered that water conducts electricity, so he had to use that strategy.
"Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered. Pikachu fired Thunderbolt, sending the electric attack through the water and rightvat the Water Bird Pokémon, shocking it and dealing some heavy damage. Pelipper ceased firing Hydro Pump. "Use Quick Attack!" Pikachu dashed right at Pelipper and lands a heavy hit, resulting in a knockout.
"Pelipper is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" The referee announced.
"Pikachu took out Pelipper! Score one for the Electric-type Pokémon!" Joey said.
"That Hydro Pump looked really powerful, didn't it?" Duke asked.
"It did, but I think it took out most of Pikachu's stamina," Anabel said. Pikachu was panting heavily from the amount of damage he took and the energy he used up against Pelipper's Hydro Pump. Sora saw it was a good time to switch Pokémon.
"Okay, Pikachu, don't overdo it! Come on back for now!" Sora said. Pikachu complied and returned to Sora's side to rest for a bit. Winona calls her Pelipper back as well.
"You've done well, Pelipper. Get some rest," Winona said. She looked over to Sora. "You've impressed me once again. Your Pikachu's electricity against my Pelipper's Hydro Pump is something I couldn't have foreseen, but my next one is going to be quite a challenge," Winona said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Skarmory! Take flight!" Her Pokéball opened and a Skarmory that's twice the size of a normal-sized Skarmory emerged from inside the Pokéball and flew upwards.
"Whoa! Look at the size of that Skarmory!" Joey exclaimed.
"It's huge," Yugi said.
"I didn't think Skarmory could grow to be that big," Serenity said.
"Normally, they don't. But it's not just the size, but it's also the type Skarmory is. Since Skarmory's a Steel-type, it could mean that Skarmory is also how Winona handles Rock-types, but also Ice-types," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Eevee," Celeste said.
"That makes sense. It's a known fact that Flying-type Pokémon are weak against Rock and Ice-types, so Pelipper and Skarmory are two Pokémon that gets around that weakness," Yugi said. Sora took a Pokéball and threw it.
"Lairon! Go!" Sora called out. Lairon emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Looks like it's going to be a battle of Steel-types," Lisia said.
"Yeah, but Skarmory's got the upperhand because of its size," Mai said.
"Skarmory! Use Metal Claw!" Winona ordered. Skarmory flew to slash its talons on Lairon.
"Lairon! Dodge and use your own Metal Claw!" Sora ordered. Lairon dodged Skarmory's talons and slashed at the Armor Bird Pokémon with his own Metal Claw, slashing it.
"Skarmory! Metal Claw again!" Winona ordered. Skarmory flew right at Lairon, but slashed at Lairon successfully. "Use Steel Wing!" Skarmory flew to land a hit on the Iron Armor Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Lairon creates a bunch of rocks and sends them right at Skarmory.
"Dodge it!" Winona called out. Skarmory managed to dodge Lairon's Rock Slide. "Use Air Cutter!" Skarmory unleashed Air Cutter, hitting Lairon before could tell him to dodge.
"Hang in there, Lairon!" Sora said.
"Use Air Cutter again!" Winona ordered. Skarmory unleashed another Air Cutter, hitting Lairon again. "Use Aerial Ace!" Skarmory flew around for a bit and darts right towards him to land a hit.
"Okay, Lairon! Use Iron Head!" Sora ordered. Lairon ran towards Lairon with his head giving off a metallic glow. Both Steel-types collides with each other, dealing some damage on each other.
"Skarmory! Use Steel Wing!" Winona ordered. Skarmory flew right at Lairon.
"Dodge and use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Lairon dodges Skarmory's attack and sends Rock Slide, hitting the Armor Bird Pokémon on the mark. "Use Take Down!" Lairon charges right at Skarmory with great speed and lands a hit onto Skarmory, resulting in a knockout.
"Skarmory is unable to battle! Lairon wins!" The referee announced.
"Wow, that was amazing," Serenity said.
"Yeah, I thought Skarmory was going to win that for sure," Joey said.
"So did I. But it looks like Sora's come through, but there's only one more to go," Kairi said. Winona called back her giant Skarmory and she smiled.
"That was an incredible thing to witness, Sora. Many of my challengers wouldn't have taken down my Skarmory the way you did. You're something else," Winona said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"Now, to present to you, my final Pokémon," Winona said, taking out her fourth Pokéball and threw it. "Take flight, Altaria!" Her Pokéball opened and her Altaria emerged from inside.
"An Altaria. So pretty," Serenity said.
"Not only that, but also tough. Looks even tougher than Kairi's Altaria," Duke said.
"You may have the first move, Sora," Winona said.
"Okay. Lairon! Use Rock Slide!" Sora ordered. Lairon unleashed Rock Slide and sends it right at the Humming Pokémon.
"Dodge it and use Earthquake!" Winona ordered. Altaria flew down and slammed the ground, hard and making the whole battlefield shake. The bleachers even shook.
"That's how she does it! Earthquake is how she deals with Electric-type Pokémon just the same as Rock-types!" Kairi said.
"I didn't think Altaria could use a Ground-type move," Téa said.
"I didn't either," Bakura said.
"Well, Altaria's also a Dragon-type, so anything is possible beyond this point," Anabel said.
"Use Dragon Dance and then Flamethrower!" Winona ordered. Altaria swirls around in the air before it unleashed a Flamethrower, hitting Lairon and engulfing him in flames. Lairon was now knocked out.
"Lairon is unable to battle! Altaria wins!" The referee announced.
"She finally took down one of Sora's Pokémon," Lisia said.
"Altaria using Flamethrower is something I didn't expect," Yugi said.
"Same here. And it was really strong because of that Dragon Dance. Not only that, but Altaria's speed has gone up, too," Duke said.
"Let's hope Sora's next choice will count," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pika," Xipak said.
"Eevee," Celeste said.
Sora calls back Lairon and smiled.
"You did great, Lairon. Get some rest," Sora said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Sealeo! It's your turn!" His Pokéball opened and Sealeo emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"So, you had an Ice-type Pokémon ready. I'm impressed by your strategy, but types alone don't win battles, and by now you should know that," Winona said.
"Yeah, I know. Show me everything you've got," Sora said.
"As you wish. Altaria! Flamethrower once again!" Winona ordered. Altaria fired another Flamethrower and sends it right towards Sealeo.
"Dodge it and use Ice Beam!" Sora ordered. Sealeo managed to dodge Altaria's Flamethrower and fire an Ice Beam right at Altaria.
"Dodge and use Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered. Altaria dodged and flew around for a bit. Altaria dashed right at Sealeo, landing a hit. "Use Flamethrower!" Altaria dodged Sealeo's Ice Beam and lands another hit with Flamethrower.
"Use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Sealeo fired Water Gun, pushing back Altaria's Flamethrower and then, landed a hit. "Use Body Slam!" Sealeo heads right for Altaria and lands a Body Slam on the Humming Pokemon. "Use Ice Beam!"
"Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered. Altaria dove right at Sealeo and flew up with the Ball Roll Pokemon on its back. Altaria flew and dropped Sealeo down on the ground, resulting in a knockout.
"Sealeo is unable to battle! Altaria wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls back Sealeo and smiled.
"You did your best out there, Sealeo. Get yourself a good, long rest," Sora said. He thought to himself, "Man, that Altaria's pretty strong. I know it's stronger than Kairi's Altaria since she had only just evolved, but I can imagine it being stronger than Ali. With that Dragon Dance, it's going to be hard to land a hit on it because it's so fast."
"Pika," Pikachu said, grabbing Sora's attention. "Pika, Pika!"
"You sure you wanna go back out there? The battles you had against Swellow and Pelipper wore you out," Sora pointed out.
"Pika, Pikachu, Pi, Pika, Pika, Pikachu," Pikachu said. Sora just smiled.
"You're right, buddy. I know you can run circles around Ataria. Just give it your all out there," Sora said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"Okay, Pikachu! Back to action!" Sora said. Pikachu heads back in the battlefield, ready to battle.
"Sora's sending Pikachu back out there?" Téa asked.
"He held his own against Swellow and Pelipper, but he might still be exhausted," Bakura said.
"Sora must have some kind of plan," Yugi said.
"Altaria! Use Earthquake!" Winona ordered. Altaria started to fall, intending to use Earthquake.
"Jump!" Sora called out. Pikachu uses his tail as a spring and he manged to jump really high, avoiding Altaria's Earthquake. Winona was surprised by how high Pikachu jumped. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu's tail gave off a metallic glow and lands a hit onto Altaria. It dealt some damage on it.
"Altaria! Use Flamethrower!" Winona ordered. Altaria fired a Flamethrower right at Pikachu.
"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu ran to avoid Altaria's Flamethrower. "That's the way! Keep running!"
"So you think your Pikachu is faster than my Altaria, huh? Well, think again, Sora. Altaria! Dragon Dance!" Winona ordered. Altaria swirls around, building up its speed and strength once again. "Use Flamethrower!" Altaria unleashed another Flamethrower, making it so much stronger than the last time. Pikachu was struck hard by the fire attack. "Use Earthquake!" Altaria came down to the ground and shook the battlefield again. Pikachu felt that, but he was still standing on his feet. Sora figured Pikachu used some energy from his jump, but he had once more trick to use.
"Use Thunderbolt! Full power!" Sora ordered. Pikachu unleashed another Thunderbolt, making it stronger than before, so he shocks Altaria, dealing some heavy damage on the Humming Pokémon. Pikachu stopped using his Thunderbolt, panting hard, but Altaria was still standing, but also panting hard from the huge amount of damage it took.
"Look at that. Altaria's still standing on its feet," Joey said.
"Yeah, but I think Altaria's pretty tired from that Thunderbolt," Kairi said.
"She's right. It could be anyone's battle now," Mai said.
Pikachu and Altaria kept on panting and looking at each other, but Pikachu fell down, beaten.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Alataria wins!" The referee announced.
Sora came down from his podium and picked up the Mouse Pokémon in his arms.
"You okay, Pikachu?" Sora asked.
"Pi," Pikachu replied weakly.
"Don't feel bad about losing out there. You tired Altaria out like I wanted you to. I won't let your efforts go to waste," Sora said, taking out his next Pokeball, containing his fourth and final Pokemon. "I know it's not going to be easy, but we're going to give it our all out there." He threw it. "Glalie! Your turn!" The Pokeball opened and Glalie emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Another Ice-type, huh? I thought you'd have another Electric or Rock-type waiting for me. Like I said earlier, types don't win battles alone," Winona said. "Altaria! Flamethrower!" Altaria unleashed a Flamethrower, sending it right at Glalie.
"Okay, Glalie! Dodge and use Frost Breath!" Sora ordered. Glalie managed to avoid Altaria's Flamethrower and lands a hit by blowing a cold breath. It deals some heavy damage on the Humming Pokémon.
"I know Flying and Dragon-types are weak against Ice-types, but didn't look too heavy of damage to anyone?" Joey asked.
"It's because of Frost Breath. It always deals a critical hit," Yugi said.
"Altaria! Use Aerial Ace!" Winona ordered. Altaria flew around in the air before dashing right at the Face Pokémon, dealing some damage. "Use Flamethrower!" Altaria fired Flamethrower right at Glalie.
"Use Ice Beam!" Sora ordered. Glalie fired Ice Beam and blocked the flame attack. They held their attacks as Glalie managed to push Altaria's Flamethrower, but Altaria pushes back Glalie's Ice Beam. As they locked their attacks, an explosion occurred between them and they took some heavy damage. Glalie and Altaria were laying down on the ground. Glalie managed to get back up, full of energy. Altaria struggled to get back up, but fell back down, beaten.
"Altaria is unable to battle! Glalie wins! The victory goes to Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. The group were ecstatic that Sora had won.
"Alright!" Téa cheered.
"Way to go, Sora!" Joey said.
"I knew you'd do it," Yugi said.
Winona called back her Altaria and smiled.
"You battled hard, and you earned a good rest," Winona said. She brings her podium down as did Sora. They walked up to one another and shook hands. "That was an amazing battle. It seems that the power of the sky has smiled on you greatly. The way you battled is proof of that fact."
"Thanks, Winona. You could have had me back there," Sora said.
"Maybe, but regardless, your victory is well-deserved. And as proof of your victory here in the Fortree City Gym, it is my pleasure to present you the Feather Badge," Winona said, presenting Sora his next Gym Badge. It is shaped like feathers on a bird's wing. Sora accepts it and he placed it with his five other Badges.
"Six down, two to go," Sora said.
Everyone congratulated Sora for his victory, so everyone was prepared to leave the Gym and head for the Pokémon Center.
"Before you go, Sora, I thought I should share that your next Gym battle is going to take place at Mossdeep City," Winona said.
"Mossdeep City. Got it," Sora said.
"I wish you luck on your way," Winona said.
With that said, the group returned to the Pokémon Center to have Pikachu, Lairon, Sealeo, and Glalie healed from Sora's Gym battle. As Sora's Pokémon were healing, Yugi and his friends told Sora, Kairi, Lisia, and Anabel that they were heading off on their own way.
"Sorry that we stick around with you a little longer," Yugi said.
"Don't worry about it, Yugi. I just hope we see each other again soon," Sora said.
"Me too," Yugi said.
"You just make sure you kick some butt in the Battle Frontier, too," Joey said.
"I will," Sora said. Anabel just looked at Sora and she nodded.
"And Kairi, just know that we'll be cheering for you in your Contests, too," Téa said.
"And hard, too," Serenity added.
"I'll do my best," Kairi said.
With that said, Yugi and his friends took their leave of the Pokémon Center. Sora had to admit, it was good having them around despite the Black Sun Clan's attack, but he knew he could always count on them. So now, the journey towards Mossdeep City will soon begin, and Sora will have to train pretty hard to earn his seventh Gym Badge, and Sora still has two more challenges of the Battle Frontier, and Kairi still has to earn her two remaining Contest Ribbons, so stay tuned if you want to see some more excitement.
