"You've given us a considerable number of things to think about." Giles told them. "Once we have seen to the Mayor, I will visit the Oracles. And then we will rebuild our group, to be an actual group, where everyone has a role and can help support both Buffy and Faith, while keeping Sunnydale safe. You're right, I have no idea how to handle Buffy. Or Faith for that matter. They don't behave at all the way I was taught Slayers should behave. Kendra did, but Kendra was raised by the Council and behaved the way she did because they trained her from a young age to be obedient. If you are correct and the gods did not make the Slayer and even if you aren't, the Council's methods disturb me. Especially since they never seek clarification from any god, while simultaneously claiming what they do is the will of the gods."
Wesley was frowning at Giles words. "Mr. Giles, you are questioning the wisdom of the Council!"
"We've seen a realty where you question it, Wes." Xander told him. "Trust me, despite not knowing that the Cordelia in that reality was possessed, anymore then Giles knew Willow was, you managed to be a kick ass demon fighter on your own. You can get there, you have it in you. The Council isn't wise, Wes. The Council is full of cowards. Verify what we've said, speak to the Oracles. Well, it's time for us to go. We've done more then we intended, but I think we've learned a few things. Oh, and be careful, my blood can make holy ground. Some got on the floor here from where Darla tore out my throat. Not sure what affect that will have near the Hellmouth." Xander took Cordelia's hand in his and pressed the button on the control device. An electric tingle and the world shifted.
"Oh dear, I do believe he forgot that he intended to speak to Mr. McCleod as well. Well, I will do it for him. Wesley, if you would please go to the Sunnydale archives and verify the Mayor's longevity please. Alex, you have a great deal of strategic and warfare knowledge in your head. And Cord, I do believe being the quarterback and Captain of the football team means you know something of strategy as well. If the two of you could work on a plan for drawing the Mayor into a trap, I will work on building the dimensional pocket. Buffy, if you could keep an eye on Willow until she awakens, that would be very helpful. I'm not at all sure what her mental state will be when she awakens. Faith, if you could gather the weapons and make sure they're ready, please. We may move on the Mayor tonight."
As Giles was becoming the head of a hopefully reformed Scooby Gang, Xander and Cordelia were materializing on a darkened street. Not far from them they saw another Xander, he was attacking Spike. From one direction they could see Buffy racing down the street and then the door to a business with the name Magic Box above it, opened and a woman came running out.
"Damn, still in Sunnydale." Xander said and the two of them moved towards the four other people converging on each other. "I want to be somewhere really far away from Sunnydale."
"So do I." Cordelia agreed. They could hear the argument as they approached.
"So this is your answer to our problems, to go out and bang the first body you find, even if it is dead and soulless?"
"You left me, Xander! At the alter! You don't get a say in what I do anymore!"
"If it's good enough for Buffy." Spike said. Which derailed the whole argument.
"Enough!" Other Xander yelled. The four people turned to stare at him. "I have had a really bad night, it's not getting better. You." He said, pointing at Anya. "Bear in mind, he was kidnapped and tortured with his worst fears, which by the way, don't include vampires or clowns, but him becoming a human monster and hurting people he cares about. You." He pointed at local Xander. "When I knew Anya, she had no remorse for any of the people she killed while a demon or for making the choice to become a demon, has that changed?"
"Well, no. Not really." Local Xander said.
"And you're just willing to overlook that? That makes you a hypocrite. Not to mention, she's right, you broke up with her. You don't get a say in who she gets involved with anymore. Is it disgusting that she chose a vampire? Yes. Besides, you know damn well she's not who you really want to be with. Go find the girl you do want to be with. You'll save her from a whole Hell of alot of misery and while you're at, have a witch who's not Willow, check for spells that have been cast on you against your will, I guarantee you're going to find some. And Buffy, sex with a vampire is disgusting. If for no other reason then it's a dead body. Then you toss in the fact that there's a demon animating that body and there's no soul so it can't know right from wrong. Spike is very good at pretending he's being a good guy, but he isn't actually a good guy. And you might what to get yourselves tested. Dead bodies carry disease. Just because the vampire is immune to it doesn't mean humans are." And leaving a stunned group to contemplate his words, Xander grabbed Cordelia's hand again and pressed the button on the control device. An electric tingle and the world shifted again. This time they materialized on a deserted road.
"Xander, I think we got our wish for us to be far away from Sunnydale." Cordelia said, looking up. Xander followed her gaze and found two moons above them shining in the night sky.
