The Lost Hotel
Now that the Pokeball Factory is safe from Team Flare, Kevin, Rolf, Jonny, and Nazz can focus on their next gym battle which is being held in Anistar City. Since it was getting dark, the group decided to continue their journey in the morning. They were currently in the cafeteria, while waiting for their Pokemon to be treated. They already sold their Big Nuggets given to them by the president of the Pokeball Factory; they each bought five potions and pokeballs, as well as a couple of Full Heals with some of the money they got. They are currently looking at their new Master Balls.
"Wow; Pokeballs that can catch Pokemon without even having to battle them first." said Kevin.
"I want to save mine for one of the biggest, coolest, Pokemon out there." said Jonny.
"Rolf will do that also." said Rolf.
"I hope we don't run into those Team Flare jerks again." said Nazz.
"Me, too." said Kevin. "Those dorks really annoy me."
"Yeah, but for now, let's just get something to eat, go to bed, and we can start heading for Anistar City." said Nazz.
"Rolf agrees." said Rolf. After they finished eating, the group took showers, and brushed their teeth; they went to their room and climbed into their beds.
The next morning, after breakfast, the group picked up their Pokemon and left the Pokemon Center. Kevin climbed onto his bike and began pedaling slowly so the others can keep up with him. Unbeknownst to them, Austin has arrived at the Laverre City Gym. The group then left Laverre City and are now on Route 15.
The group trained up their Pokemon for a while to make sure they were ready for their next gym battles.
Kevin's Fletchinder learned Flame Charge, his Venusaur learned Worry Seed, his Vivillon learned Bug Buzz, his Golett learned Curse, and his Tyrunt learned Crunch and Dragon Claw. During the training, Fletchinder froze up and started to glow.
"Check it out!" said Jonny. "Fletchinder's evolving!" Everyone watches as Fletchinder begins to change. When he finished, he was a lot bigger, he had red orange markings on his torso, the plumage on the back of his head was longer, his tail feathers were black and yellow-striped, and his feet and talons were bigger. Kevin points the pokedex at his newly evolved Fletchinder.
"Talonflame, the Scorching Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Fletchling. When attacking prey, it can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick." said the pokedex.
"Awesome." said Kevin.
Jonny's Linoone learned Covet, his Nincada learned Agility, and his Krokorok learned Scary Face. Clauncher suddenly begins to glow.
"Check it out! Clauncher's evolving!" said Jonny. Clauncher began to change; when he stopped glowing, he had a black stripe going over his eyes, he had three spikes on the back of his head, he had black stripes going down his back, his left pincer was blue and yellow on the end of it, but his right pincer was bigger than his own body and it was blue with a pair of yellow antennae coming out from the top of it. Kevn gives Jonny the pokedex and he points it at his newly evolved Clauncher.
"Clawitzer, the Howitzer Pokemon, and the evolved form of Clauncher. By expelling water from the nozzle in the back of its claw, it can move at a speed of 60 knots." said the pokedex.
"Wow, cool!" said Jonny. "And according to this, Clawitzer now knows Heal Pulse, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, and Aura Sphere. Clawitzer's Mega Launcher ability should make those moves even stronger!"
Rolf's Delphox learned Flamethrower, his Diggersby learned Dig, his Pidgeotto learned Wing Attack, his Gogoat Bulk Up and Double Edge, his Beedrill learned Poison Jab, and his Blastoise learned Skull Bash.
During the training, Rolf's Pidgeotto froze up and started to glow.
"Whoa, another evolution!" said Jonny. Everyone watched as Pidgeotto started to change. When she finished, she was a lot bigger, and his head plumage was red and yellow. Kevin points the pokedex at Rolf's newly evolved Pokemon.
"Pidgeot, the Bird Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Pidgey. It spreads its gorgeous wings widely to intimidate enemies. It races through the skies at Mach-2 speed." said the pokedex.
"Rolf is pleased with his new Pidgeot." said Rolf.
Nazz's Farfetch'd learned Night Slash and Acrobatics, her Pyroar learned Flamethrower, and Dedenne learned Rest, Snore, and Charge Beam.
Jonny's Linoone found a Great Ball with his Pickup ability, Rolf's Diggersby and Nazz's Dedenne each found an Ultra Ball.
Shortly after they started walking, they hear some loud rumbling above them, making them look up to see dark clouds. Kevin suddenly feels a drop of water hit his face.
"It's starting to rain, guys." said Kevin. "I don't want my bike to get wet." As the group looks around for shelter, Jonny spots a large, old-looking, building nearby.
"Let's go in there." said Jonny.
"Yeah, I don't want my hair getting wet unless I'm in a shower with a good shampoo and conditioner." said Nazz. The four, five if you include Plank, run to the building, or in Kevin's case, bike, and go inside. When the group looks outside, they see it was really starting to pour.
"How long is this storm gonna last?" asked Kevin.
"Rolf doesn't know." said Rolf. As the group look around, they see they were in a large lobby with a front desk in it. Seeing a small bell on it, Jonny goes over and rings it.
"I think this place used to be a hotel." said Jonny.
"Whatever." said Kevin.
"So what now?" asked Nazz.
"I guess we could just check this place out until the storm's over." said Kevin.
"Do you think there's any Pokemon in here?" asked Nazz.
"Probably, it would be a good place to chill if the weather is the way it is right now." said Kevin.
"Let's go see." said Jonny. The four exit the lobby and start heading down a long hallway. As they do, they see a purple candle flame in the distance.
"What's a candle doing here?" asked Nazz.
"Maybe someone is here?" suggested Jonny. As the group got close, they notice that the candle is a lot bigger than a normal one.
"Couldn't get this on a cake." said Nazz.
"Why is the fire purple?" asked Rolf.
"And why is the candle moving?" asked Jonny. The others look to see that the candle was starting to turn around.
"Is this place haunted?!" asked Nazz as she clung to Kevin, making him blush. When the 'candle' turned completely around, they see that it was a Pokemon with yellow eyes, and small arms.
"That's no candle." said Kevin as he takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Litwick, the Candle Pokemon. Litwick shines a light that absorbs the life energy of people and Pokémon, which becomes the fuel that it burns." said the pokedex.
"Who wants to catch this one?" asked Kevin.
"I got this." said Nazz as she pulls out a pokeball. "Dedenne, go!" She throws Dedenne's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Dedenne, use Charge!" Dedenne becomes covered in electricity. The Litwick unleashes purple fire from its body and it hits Dedenne. She becomes covered in fire. "Dedenne's burned." Dedenne, use Thunder Shock!" Dedenne releases powerful electricity from her body and it hits Litwick, knocking it back. Dedenne forms a black ball of energy with a red eye in the middle of it and launches it at Dedenne, hitting her, and knocking her to the ground. As she gets up, she winces in pain from her burn. "Parabolic Charge!" Dedenne forms a ball of electricity above her and it unleashes blasts of electricity, which some of hits Litwick, knocking it to the ground. Nazz takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Litwick, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggled around a few times before it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Awesome. I caught a Litwick."
"Way to go, Nazz." said Kevin. Litwick's pokeball vanishes. Kevin uses the pokedex to look up Litwick's information. "Okay, this says Litwick's part ghost, part fire, it's a dude, he knows Ember, Astonish, Minimize, Smog, Fire Spin, Confuse Ray, Night Shade, Will-O-Wisp, Flame Burst, Imprison, Hex, and Memento; he has the Flame Body ability also."
"Hey! Who you brats think you are coming into our turf?" the group hear someone call out to them. They look to see some punk-looking people glaring at them.
"Hey, man; we don't want any trouble." said Kevin.
"Then get out of our turf!" exclaimed a punk girl.
"Can't we just wait here until the rain stops?" asked Jonny. "I don't want Plank to get wet."
"Tell you what. We'll each have one on one Pokemon battles with each of you." said a punk boy.
"If you win; you can stay." said a punk girl.
"If you lose; you give us all your Pokemon and leave." said a punk boy.
"Give you our Pokemon?!" exclaimed Kevin. "No way!"
"Then get out of here!" exclaimed a punk girl.
"Rolf will battle one of these no goods." said Rolf.
"Yeah! I don't want to go out in the rain!" said Jonny.
"And I don't want my bike to get wet." said Kevin.
"Fine; we'll battle with you." said Nazz.
"Good." said a punk boy. Soon, he and Jonny were standing in the middle of a lobby, facing each other while holding a pokeball. "Pangoro, come out!" The punk boy tosses a pokeball, releasing a large, bipedal, panda bearlike Pokemon. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Pangoro, the Daunting Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pancham. It charges ahead and bashes its opponents like a berserker, uncaring about any hits it might take. Its arms are mighty enough to snap a telephone pole." said the pokedex.
"Chesnaught, go!" said Jonny, throwing Chesnaught's pokeball and releasing him. "Chesnaught, Rock Smash!" Chesnaught charges at Pangoro and swings his arm down on it, hitting it, dealing super effective damage, and weakening its defense.
"Not bad, kid." said the punk boy. "Pangoro, Vital Throw!" Pangoro charges at Chesnaught while one of its arms glowed yellow and it grabs Chesnaught with it; it then throws Chesnaught into the ground, damaging him; but he gets back up.
"Chesnaught, Needle Arm!" said Jonny. Chesnaught's arm becomes surrounded by a green ball of energy with spikes and he hits Pangoro with it, dealing more damage due to Pangoro's defense being weakened.
"Body Slam!" said the punk boy. Pangoro jumps up and falls down towards Chesnaught.
"Spiky Shield!" said Jonny. Chesnaught shields himself with his arms and a green energy shield with spikes form in front of them; Pangoro falls into it, getting hurt by the spikes, and falls to the ground. "Seed Bomb!" Chesnaught unleashes multiple glowing seeds from his mouth and they hit Pangoro, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"No way!" exclaimed the punk boy.
"Right on, Chesnaught!" said Jonny. Chesnaught flexes his arms. The punk boy lowers his head and returns Pangoro to its pokeball.
"I guess you can stay, kid." said the punk boy. He gives Jonny pokedollars and walks to the other punks.
"You lost to a kid?!" asked a punk girl.
"I'll take on the next one." said a punk boy, stepping forward.
"I'll take this dork on." said Kevin. The punk boy tosses a pokeball, releasing a pale yellow Pokemon with a blue underbelly, cone-like tail, no appendages, and two small wings on its back. Kevin points the pokedex at it.
"Dunsparce, the Land Snake Pokemon. It digs into the ground with its tail and makes a mazelike nest. It can fly just a little." said the pokedex.
Kevin then throws his pokeball, releasing his Tyrunt.
"Okay, dude; use Rock Smash!" said Kevin. Tyrunt runs at the Dunsparce and slams his tail onto its head, doing super effective damage, and weakening its defense.
"Dunsparce, use Dig!" said the punk boy. Dunsparce tunnels into the floor and disappears.
"Careful, Kevin." said Jonny. "Dig's a ground type move, so it'll be effective against a rock type like Tyrunt."
"Tyrunt, use Bide!" said Kevin. Tyrunt crouches down in anticipation. All of a sudden, the Dunsparce pops out of the floor and slams into Tyrunt, doing super effective damage. What the punk boy didn't realize is that Tyrunt absorbed some of the power of the attack.
"Use Take Down!" said the punk boy. Dunsparce flies at Tyrunt and slams into him, hurting him and itself due to recoil damage. Tyrunt also absorbed some of the power from that attack as well.
"Let him have it, Tyrunt!" said Kevin. Tyrunt releases all the energy he absorbed from Dunsparce's attacks back at it and hits it with enough force to knock it out.
"No way!" said the punk boy.
"Ha! How did you like that, dork?" asked Kevin. The punk boy growls as he returns his Dunsparce to its pokeball and tosses pokedollars to Kevin. A punk girl steps forward.
"All right; which of you wants to battle with me?!" the punk girl asked.
"I will." replied Nazz. Kevin walks back to Jonny and Rolf while the punk Kevin beat went back to his friends. Nazz and the punk girl face each other while they each pulled out a pokeball.
"Liepard, go!" said the punk girl, throwing her pokeball and releasing a Liepard.
"Pyroar, go!" said Nazz, throwing Pyroar's pokeball and releasing her.
"Liepard, use Fake Out!" said the punk girl. Liepard leaps at Pyroar and claps its front paws together when it got close to Pyroar, releasing a shockwave that hits Pyroar, damaging her, and making her flinch. "Now use Slash!" Liepard's front claws glowed white and it slashes Pyroar with them.
"Use Work Up!" said Nazz. Pyroar becomes surrounded by a red aura and her strength increases.
"Assurance!" said the punk girl. Liepard charges at Pyroar and rams her with its head.
"Pyroar, use Flamethrower!" said Nazz. Pyroar unleashes a stream of fire from her mouth and it hits Liepard, dealing massive damage due to Work Up increasing her strength. Liepard falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"How did you take out Liepard with one hit?!" asked the punk girl.
"Was your Liepard female?" asked Nazz.
"Yes, she was, why?" asked the punk girl.
"Pyroar's Rivalry ability makes attacks that hit the Pokemon that's the gender as her even more powerful." replied Nazz. "So, with that ability and Pyroar's strength increase by that Work Up move, that Flamethrower was way too strong for Liepard to handle." The punk girl growled and returned Liepard to her pokeball.
"I guess you get to stay, but just for today." said the punk girl, tossing pokedollars at Nazz. As Nazz picks up the pokedollars, Rolf steps forward.
"Now Rolf will earn his stay." said Rolf. A punk boy steps forward and pulls out a pokball; he throws it, releasing a blue, sharklike Pokemon that had a four-pointed, yellow star on its head. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Sharpedo, the Brutal Pokemon, and the evolved form of Carvanha. It can swim at speeds of 75 mph by jetting seawater through its body. It is the bandit of the sea." said the pokedex.
"That Pokemon looks dangerous." said Kevin.
"Rolf will handle it." said Rolf as he pulls out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Gogoat.
"Sharpedo, use Ice Fang!" said the punk boy. The Sharpedo's teeth become coated in ice as it moves towards Gogoat and bites down on him, doing super effective damage.
"Gogoat, use Seed Bomb!" said Rolf. Gogoat launches glowing seeds from his leaf mane and they hit the Sharpedo, doing super effective damage, and more thanks to his Rose Incense.
"Sharpedo, use Ice Fang again!" said the punk boy. Sharpedo goes at Gogoat and gives him another ice-coated bite, doing more super effective damage.
"Better do something, Rolf!" said Jonny.
"Rolf will win!" said Rolf. "Gogoat, use Razor Leaf!" Gogoat launches a barrage of leaves from his mane and they hit the Sharpedo, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"You did it, Rolf!" said Nazz.
"Way to go, dude!" said Kevin. The punk boy sulks as he returns his Sharpedo to its pokeball. He walks over to Rolf and hands him pokedollars.
"I guess you guys can stay." said the punk boy.
"You four are tough." said a punk girl.
"Where did you learn to battle?" asked another punk boy.
"Me, Jonny, and Rolf were taught by the Eds." said Kevin, shocking the punks.
"The Ed trio from the Lily of the Valley Conference?!" a punk girl responds.
"Yeah, them." said Kevin.
"We all know about them." said a punk boy as he points at a TV that had a paused picture of Edd's Empoleon and Eddy's Infernape rushing at each other.
"Those guys are strong!" said a punk boy.
"T-T-They're not here in Kalos; are they?" asked another punk boy.
"No, they're in the Alola Region." said Nazz. The punks let out sighs of relief.
"That's good." said a punk boy.
"Even though I wouldn't mind hanging out with Eddy." said a punk girl with a dreamy expression on her face, getting a weirded-out look from Kevin.
"Ooooookay." said Kevin. The group waited until the rain stopped before leaving the motel with the punks waving at them as they do.
"Wow, the Eds are really popular." said Jonny.
"I hope we become that famous as Pokemon trainers." said Nazz.
"We'll have to train extra hard then." said Kevin.
"Rolf will also train his Pokemon hard." said Rolf.
"Then let's get started." said Kevin. The four run off to do more training and make their way to the next gym to earn their seventh badges.
