Connor stood nervously in the grand hall of the Red Keep, waiting to meet his adoptive uncle Damon for the first time. He had heard many stories about the King's brother, known for his bravery in battle and his fierce loyalty to the royal family. But Connor was also warned that Damon could be cold and distant, not one to easily show affection or softness.
As he fidgeted with his hands, trying to calm his nerves, Connor suddenly heard a familiar voice call out his name. He turned to see Damon walking towards him, a small smile on his usually stern face. Connor's heart skipped a beat as he approached his uncle, unsure of what to expect.
Damon looked at Connor with a mix of curiosity and tenderness. He had always known about his brother's son, but had never had the chance to meet him until now. As he stood in front of the young boy, Damon couldn't help but notice the resemblance between Connor and his brother, the King
'Welcome to the Red Keep, Connor,' Damon said, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. 'I've been looking forward to meeting you.'
Connor couldn't believe his luck. He had always wanted to meet his uncle, the famous warrior of the Seven Kingdoms. But he never thought it would actually happen. He looked up at Damon with admiration and a bit of fear, not knowing how to act around him.
Damon could sense Connor's unease and decided to break the ice. 'Come, let me show you around the Red Keep,' he said, gesturing for Connor to follow him.
As they walked through the corridors, Damon pointed out different rooms and explained their purposes. Connor listened intently, trying to take in as much information as possible. But his eyes kept wandering towards the throne room, where the Iron Throne stood tall and imposing.
Damon noticed Connor's fascination with the throne and chuckled. 'Don't get lost counting the sword blades, it'll drive you mad,' he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Connor's eyes widened as he looked back at the throne, realizing that he had been unconsciously counting the blades on the swords that adorned it. He blushed in embarrassment, but Damon just laughed.
'Don't worry, even I used to do the same when I was your age,' Damon said, patting Connor's back.
Connor couldn't believe that his uncle, the fierce warrior, had once been a curious young boy like him. He couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of connection with Damon.
As they continued their tour, Damon stopped in front of a training ground where a group of soldiers were practicing their sword fighting skills. 'Tonight, I will be on the King's guard and I will show you the ropes on how to fight,' Damon said, a serious tone in his voice.
Connor's heart started to race with excitement. He had always wanted to learn how to fight, just like his uncle. But he also felt a bit intimidated, knowing that Damon was a skilled and experienced fighter.
Damon noticed the mix of emotions on Connor's face and placed a hand on his shoulder. 'Don't worry, I'll go easy on you for now,' he said with a smirk.
As they spent the rest of the day practicing sword fighting and learning about the duties of a member of the King's guard, Connor couldn't help but feel grateful for his uncle's guidance and patience. He had always feared that Damon would be distant and cold towards him, but he now realized that his uncle had a soft spot for him, he just didn't always show it.
As the sun began to set and their training came to an end, Damon looked at Connor with pride. 'You did well, my boy. You have the makings of a great warrior,' he said, a rare smile on his face.
Connor beamed with happiness, feeling a sense of belonging and acceptance that he had never felt before. He knew that he had found a mentor and a friend in his adoptive uncle, and he couldn't wait to continue learning from him.
As they walked back to the Red Keep, Connor couldn't help but feel grateful for this unexpected bond with his uncle Damon. He knew that they may not always show it, but they had a connection that would last a lifetime.
