The Lighthouse

Jemma led the group to the quarters where she had been staying, Fitz and The Doctor supporting the injured Daisy.

"Find me some clothes," Jemma ordered and River immediately set about doing that.

"What's the plan, Fitz?" Daisy asked as he and The Doctor set her down on a bed.

"We have a way out, and a ship. The ship takes us to our way out, and then we get you home," The Doctor promised.

"Great, and who are you? And who is she?" Daisy asked, gesturing to River.

"We are Leopold's parents," River declared as she grabbed the clothes, stunning Daisy and Fitz.

"Fitz?" Jemma asked, turning to her fiancé as he began to untie Daisy's binds.

"It's a long story, but they're telling the truth. They're my mother and father, biologically anyway," Fitz said awkwardly, still having a hard time believing it.

"Uh…welcome to the club, I guess," Daisy said, not sure what else to say.

"Thanks," Fitz said dryly. "I'll explain everything once we get out of here; we need to find the others."

Jemma opened her mouth to speak but suddenly felt an excruciating pain in her ears. She cried, holding her ears before falling to her knees, in obvious pain.

"Jemma!" Fitz shouted as he raced towards, her steadying her.

"Her implant, they must be messing with it," Daisy realized horrified.

"Leave this to me, then," The Doctor said, pulling out his screwdriver.

As he did, a Kree passed the room and saw them. As he charged towards them, Daisy tried to Quake him away only to remember her powers were turned off again. Behind her, River pulled out her gun and fired. Her shot hit the Kree in the chest and he went down, dead.

Not paying any attention to this, The Doctor turned on his screwdriver once it was level with Jemma's ear. After a few moments, Jemma's screaming and labored breathing stopped.

"I've cut the signal to the Implant; they can't use it to hurt you anymore. It's the best I can right now," The Doctor said as he lowered the screwdriver.

"It's fine, thank you," Jemma said as she sat up, messaging her ears, still a little woozy.

"It's not safe here, we need to go," River said urgently.

Without another word, the group of five left. Fitz led them into a dark room with a window, overseeing the outside, where they could see a ship. Almost immediately afterwards, they witnessed the ship seemingly blown apart.

"Please tell me that wasn't your ship," Daisy almost begged.

"It was. At least as far as Kasius is concerned," River said, surprising Jemma and Daisy.

"We knew we might have to break our cover if we couldn't convince Kasius to sell Diasy to me, and they'd probably blow up our ship when we did," Fitz explained.

"We have another ship waiting. We just need to find the rest of your friends first," The Doctor assured them.

Later, The Doctor used his screwdriver to activate the Lift. Once it opened, the five of them stepped snide and The Doctor once more used his screwdriver, this time to make the lift close and beginning heading down to the upper levels.

"All right. Last time I saw Yo-Yo and the others, they were in a salvage yard on one of the upper floors," Daisy told them.

"Then that's where we'll go," The Doctor said.

Barely had the words left his mouth when the Lift gave a strong jolt and the lights went out. The group of five used the walls to steady themselves as the lift stopped.

"That is not helping," Jemma complained, still not having recovered from Kasius messing with her implant.

"They're shutting down the lifts so we can't run," River noted.

"If this is based on earth technology, there should be a hatch," The Doctor said before spotting it.

"Here it is," Daisy said, pointing it out. "Fitz, give me a boost."

Sometime later, a Kree Hunter opened the lift doors to reveal the life of them gone. A pair of human slaves was behind him, wheeling away a cart of food.

"Halt," the Kree ordered and they stopped before he pulled out a weapon, quickly restraining one of the slaves. "The Destroyer, where is she?"

"I don't know. I-"

Annoyed, the Kree used his weapon to slit the slave's throat, blood coating the walls. Dropping the body to the floor, the Kree then restrained the other slave and put his weapon against the terrified woman's neck.

"Try again. The Destroyer, where is she?" the Kree demanded.

The woman's only response was to whimper fearfully. It was then the Kree saw an open air duct.

The group of five made their way into a room that reminded The Doctor uneasily of the Monastery where Cleaves had been using the Flesh.

"These pipes feel hot. Wonder if this is the spa area," Daisy said, only half joking.

"I doubt that, Daisy," River said as Jemma felt one of the pipes.

"This one's cold," Jemma noted in surprise.

"There's a lot of power running in here," Daisy noted as The Doctor and Fitz saw a monitor.

"Tracking signs of airborne contaminations-"

"Mold-"

"Harmful chemicals-"

"Carbon monoxide-"

"It's an air-filtration system," The Doctor and Fitz finished together before looking at each other startled.

"You do take after your father," River told Fitz, sounding torn between amusement and exasperation as Jemma and Daisy eyed them oddly.

"I thought my family was weird," Daisy muttered.

"How are you two his parents again?" Jemma asked, still having trouble wrapping her head around that.

"Long story, don't have time for it right now," The Doctor said as Fitz looked around.

"This must be the hub for life support systems," Fitz realized.

"Well of course there'd be one. This place is basically a giant vivarium for humans," Jemma said distastefully.

Behind them, Fitz had spotted a panel with a door handle. Curious, Fitz grabbed it and pulled it open, staring in horror at the tubes filled with…

"Well, I think I know how they're creating the artificial gravity for the station," Fitz called out, the other four turning their heads, all but Daisy staring in shock.

"Blimey," The Doctor muttered.

"Is that what I think it is?" River inquired.

"What is it?" Daisy asked clueless.

"I hope we're wrong but, to be on the safe side," The Doctor walked up beside his son, pulled out his screwdriver and scanned the grey material in the tubes before frowning in dismay as he checked the reading. "Gravitonium."

"Get down. Now," River said, reaching for her gun.

The others, on instinct, dropped to the floor as River whirled around, opening fire, killing two Kree warriors.

"Hunters. Kasius must have sent them after us," The Doctor noted as they all got to their feet, examining the dead Kree, who they noticed had been armed with guns.

"They will be more, they usually travel in groups. We need to move," River ordered.

No one disagreed, moving into another room.

"Wait!" Daisy shouted and they all stopped. "Doctor, you shut down Jemma's implant. Can you do the same thing for me?"

"I should be able to," The Doctor said, pulling out his screwdriver. "It'll only take a moment."

"But first, we have company," River said, pointing her gun at something.

They followed her gaze to see what she was aiming at: a man wearing a helmet that largely resembled the face plate of iron Man. He immediately held up his hands in a 'I come in peace' gesture.

"I'm not with Kasius. I'm just here to help," he said before removing his helmet, revealing a man with dark hair and eyes.

At the sight of him, Daisy immediately rushed forward and slammed him against a nearby shelf.

"I should kill you!"

"Who the Hell is this guy?" Fitz asked what they were thinking.

"He works for Kasius," Daisy explained.

"I do not work for Kasius! Well, okay, sometimes I work for Kasius, but right now, I am Team SHIELD, all right?" he told them.

"Pretty convenient, you showing up just now," Daisy said suspiciously.

"Convenient? No, it's unbelievable that I'm standing here after Coulson welded my door shut. I had to crack a window. Most of my personal valuables are floating around in space, thank you very much everybody," the man said flippantly.

"So what, I'm supposed to feel bad for you because Coulson locked you up?" Daisy asked incredulously.

"We're working out our differences, all right?! I don't have time to get into this!"

"Can we discuss this later? Preferably when we're not being chased by Kree?" The Doctor suggested.

"Yes! Thank you…this guy," the man said with a gesture at The Doctor. "Now, please follow me. We go up on the service shaft and it'll lead up right onto the trawler."

"No. No no no, this is the guy who sold me to Kasius," Daisy told the other.

"Kill him, he's a snack," Jemma said immediately, glaring at the man.

"Give me something and I'll cut his throat open," Fitz said darkly.

"I'm a pragmatist, all right? Look, I told you I would you to your friend. There she is," the man said, gesturing to Jemma. And I stopped you form doing something drastic that would have gotten people killed in the process."

"What does that mean?" The Doctor inquired. "Something drastic? What are you talking about?"

"So you didn't tell them then?" Deke asked as Daisy went silent.

"No, she didn't Mr…" River trailed off.

"Deke, Deke Shaw."

"Well Deke, would someone care to fill us in?" Jemma asked, still not ready to trust this man but unable to shake the curiosity.

"When we found out Kasius was holding you captive, Daisy wanted to attack Kasius and force him to hand you over. I warned her that if she did that, that Kasius would probably kill my people here on the Lighthouse in retaliation," Deke revealed.

"And you sold me to Kasius anyway," Daisy shot back.

"You didn't care how many people you were going to get killed! I begged, I pleaded and you wouldn't listen! So yeah, I sold you to Kasius. You left me no choice," Deke shot back. "I'm not proud of it, but you didn't leave me any other option."

"Quake," The Doctor said stonily and Daisy looked over at him. "You're remembered in history as a great hero. Well, history got it wrong."

"Excuse me?" Daisy demanded looking angry.

"You were willing to let the Kree kill people to accomplish your goals. Someone who would willful sacrifice lives, regardless of the reason, is not a hero," River said looking disgusted, remembering her own selfishness in willing to let the universe be destroyed in order to save The Doctor.

"Daisy…" Jemma trailed off, she and Fitz looking at Daisy horrified.

"You want your powers back? Not as long as I am standing here," he Doctor said, stepping up to Daisy with a dark look on his face. "Those powers are not a gift for you to use at your whims and do whatever you want. They are a responsibility. Not one to be taken lightly and certainly not one to be used to endanger lives rather than saving them. I cannot trust you to use those powers, so no; I will not give them back to you."

"What gives you the right to decide I don't deserve them?!" Daisy demanded angrily.

"The same right that gave you the right to endanger those lives," The Doctor sneered. "I am not your friend; I do not work for you. I am here to help my son. And so far, the greatest danger to that seems to be you."

"Doctor? Dad."

At the sound of this, The Doctor turned towards his son, more in surprise than anything.

"You're right, what Daisy did was wrong. But we need to focus on getting out of here," Fitz reasoned and, after a moment, The Doctor nodded.

"You're right son," The Doctor said before turning to Deke. "How did you find us?"

"All the channels are buzzing about your escape. I just had to follow the dead bodies and it led me right to you," Deke said before they heard a loud banging on the door. "And we are out of time! You want to live, come with me."

"We sure we can trust him?" Jemma asked, understanding why he had done what he did (not agreeing but understanding) but still not ready to trust him.

"No, but we don't have any other choice," Fitz pointed out.

"If he's lying to us, he might still be useful," River shrugged. "And I can always kill him if he is."

"Well, on the cheery note, let's go," Deke said sarcastically, gesturing for them to follow after.

Uneasily, the group of five followed after him, hoping this wasn't a trap.

I'll be honest, after the first few seasons, I really didn't like Daisy and the Deke situation in season five is a perfect example as to why.

Now, Deke was not innocent, he did benefit from selling Daisy to Kasius. But really, what other choice did Daisy give him? She was warned that her actions could cause Kasius to retaliate against the humans, and she didn't even care. And what still has me in complete disbelief all these years later is that the writers blow right passed this and make Deke the bad guy even though she basically forced his hand and people who definitely would take an issue with this didn't. Coulson wasn't a surprise; he has a blind spot for Daisy the size of Avengers Tower, but people like Jemma and Mack not caring? That's much harder to believe.

This was Arrowverse level bullshit. And I love Agents of SHIELD, it's one of my favorite shows, so when I'm comparing it to the Arrowverse for anything other than to say how bad it makes the Arrowverse look, that is a huge red flag.
