Ever since Conner was a young boy, he had known Khalida. She was a vampire, a member of a powerful and ancient species, and yet she had always been kind and caring towards him. Their families had been close, thanks to the doctor who had treated both of their parents, and they had grown up together.
But as they got older, Conner's feelings towards Khalida had changed. He found himself drawn to her strength, her intelligence, and her beauty. And he could tell that she felt the same way about him.
After the dragon games had ended, Conner finally had the chance to spend some time alone with Khalida. They walked through the gardens of the castle, talking and laughing as if they were still children. But as the sun began to set, Khalida's demeanor changed.
'Conner, I have to leave tonight,' she said, her voice filled with sadness.
'Leave? Where are you going?' Conner asked, feeling a pang of disappointment.
'To my kingdom,' Khalida replied. 'I have responsibilities there, as the leader of my people.'
Conner's heart sank. He knew that Khalida had a duty to her kingdom, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of loss at the thought of her leaving.
As if sensing his thoughts, Khalida placed a hand on his cheek. 'I will miss you, Conner. But I must go.'
Before he could respond, Khalida leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. Conner's heart raced as he returned the kiss, savoring the taste of her lips.
'I will see you again,' Khalida whispered, pulling away. 'But for now, I must go.'
As she turned to leave, Conner couldn't help but feel a sense of longing. But he knew that Khalida had her responsibilities, just as he had his own. He watched as she walked away, her graceful movements making her seem almost ethereal.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted his thoughts. 'She's quite the catch, isn't she?'
Conner turned to see Viserys Targaryen, the prince of the kingdom, standing behind him. Conner had heard of Viserys, known for his charm and good looks, but he had never met him before.
'Yes, she is,' Conner replied, trying to remain polite despite his annoyance at the prince's sudden appearance.
'I must say, I am quite intrigued by her,' Viserys said, a glint in his eye. 'A strong female leader of her own kingdom. It is quite impressive.'
Conner's jaw clenched as he realized that Viserys was interested in Khalida. He couldn't bear the thought of her being with anyone else.
But before he could say anything, Rhaenyra Targaryen, the queen herself, approached them. 'Khalida is a vampire, is she not?' she asked, her tone curious.
'Yes, she is,' Conner replied, wondering where this conversation was going.
'Interesting,' Rhaenyra mused. 'And yet, she is under your protection, is she not? As a member of your family?'
Conner nodded, unsure of where this was leading.
'Well, then it seems that we have nothing to worry about,' Rhaenyra said with a smile. 'As long as she is under your protection, she is under ours as well.'
Conner felt a sense of relief wash over him. He knew that Khalida was powerful and could protect herself, but it was reassuring to know that the Targaryens had her back as well.
As the night went on, Conner couldn't shake the thought of Khalida leaving. But just as he was about to retire to his chambers, he saw her walking towards him.
'Khalida,' he said, a smile spreading across his face.
'I had to say goodbye properly,' she replied, a hint of sadness in her voice.
Conner took her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing it gently. Khalida bowed in respect, a small smile playing on her lips.
'Thank you for always being there for me, Conner,' she said, her eyes shining with emotion.
'Always,' Conner replied, his heart full of love for this beautiful vampire.
With a wave of her hand, Khalida opened a portal back to her kingdom. Before stepping through, she turned to Conner and said, 'I am glad you got your happy ending.'
As she disappeared into the portal, Conner couldn't help but feel grateful for the time he had spent with Khalida. And he knew that no matter the distance, their love would never fade.
