Hermione's new life.

Chapter 7.

Severus apparated into his private quarters, Minerva a second behind him. Minerva's face red from the tears she hadn't been able to stop crying. Lucius jumped up from where he was working, noticing the boy in Severus' arms, he quickly transformed the dining table into a softer medical table to lay the injured boy down.
"What are you doing here Mr. Malfoy?" Minerva asked, slightly confused at the presence of the elder Malfoy.
"I was watching the newest member of Severus' family, my niece. While Severus assisted you." He responded civilly but in a way that only Lord Malfoy could manage also slightly curt. Minerva nodded in response.

Severus laid the boy onto the bed. He was so confused at how the Potter boy had ended up in this state. Dumbledore told him that the boy had been sent to loving relatives, he was going to be spoiled and cared for to the max. Severus had this innate feeling in his soul that he needed to protect this boy, but that was probably his vow taking hold. However mixed in with that was this confusing feeling of anger, of hatred. Severus knew it was illogical to hate this child based on the actions of his father and godfather but that didn't stop the feelings that he couldn't explain. Almost as if someone had planted them.
Severus shook the thoughts from his head and decided to treat the boy's injuries and then head to Gringotts. Get Harry fully checked, maybe check out the Potter's will as well.

Severus quickly focused back on the young boy and started running a diagnostic charm. He noticed his mum starting to gently clean the blood off of the boy's face and arms. Lucius had started gathering potions and other medical supplies. The three working in silence but in tandem.

Once the parchment had fully developed from the charm, Severus let out a noise that a mix of a growl, scream and sigh. Multiple concussions. Bones that haven't healed properly time and time again. Bruises, burns… and more. Severus felt himself go nauseous as he read more and more about the cuts and bruises.
There was no doubt that this boy was so much like Severus was at this age. A victim of family hatred. An abuse sufferer. In that minute Severus knew he had a connection with this child. He would be able to help this child heal, like Minerva helped him, only this time he would get there earlier. He would ensure that Harry never returned to a home where violence was occurring.

"Severus…" His mum said softly trying to gain his attention.
"It's horrid mum." He responds just as softly. Multiplying the page in his hand to give copies to his family and then heading and getting a calming draught for the three of them, he knew his family would need it.

As Minerva read through the extensive list of injuries she couldn't help but let the tears escape. This child, this precious child didn't deserve this. No child did. She downed her calming draught quickly, before her anger at Albus took over. Lily Potter was like her daughter, this boy her cub. She hoped Severus would look past who the boy's father is to help him.

Lucius Malfoy always believed himself to be unflappable. He was the head of an 'ancient and most noble' sacred 28 house after all. Lucius had definitely learned how to play the politics game to best benefit him and those he classed as family. However this… this diabolical act of violence left him shook. This boy was hailed as the saviour of the wizarding world, the defeater of the dark lord. Something of which Lucius was most grateful for personally. He sighed, willing himself not to allow those memories to take over. Not right now anyway.

This level of abuse should never be bestowed on a magical child, well of any child really. Why couldn't people realise how precious children are. Quickly taking advantage of the calming draught Severus had left him, Lucius turned to the others in the room.

"How do we deal with this?" Lucius asked.
There was a pause for a moment before all three spoke in tandem. "Gringotts."
"I'll take Harry there in the morning, before anyone else is alerted to the fact he's no longer where he was residing. I will need someone to watch Hermione as I don't wish to overwhelm either child."

Lucius nodded. "Good plan. Perhaps Cissy could take Hermione shopping in the Alley, they were discussing decorating her room at the manor. Then I can accompany you to the bank and we can all meet for dinner." The elder wizard suggested.
"That sounds brilliant brother."

Minerva cleared her throat. The wizards turned to look at the elder witch. "Do you think Lady Malfoy would mind if I joined their shopping trip? I very much would appreciate some more bonding time with my Granddaughter, I also wish to purchase some items to make a safe space in my home. I also think it is time I forge a relationship with the rest of my son's family, if they'll accept me." Minerva said softly. Realising that this is what she needed.
"I think Hermione would enjoy that very much." Severus responded.
"I'm sure Narcissa would be amenable to including you in her plans. Hermione has spoken often of her Nonna. The only request, none of this 'Lord and Lady' business in private, hmm.. we are all family after all. We should all pull together for Severus and his children. Our common bond?" He responded civilly. If the Gryffindor deputy was willing to extend an olive branch, then for the sake of his family, he was going to take it.

Hermione ran into the room excitedly. "Nonna and Aunt Cissy both taking me shopping would be the absolute best thing ever!" She exclaimed in an excited way that only a child could possess at 4am.
"Hermione Granger! What are you doing out of bed at this time of night? You should be asleep!" Severus said sternly.
"Hermione Granger-Snape actually." She replied cheekily to which Severus raised an eyebrow at the young girl. "I'm sorry daddy. I heard Nonna's and Uncle Luc's voices and got excited. I didn't think to look at the time." She frowned, "Daddy… Why is there a badly hurt child in our living room?" She asked curiously.

"Nonna brought him to me so that I could help heal him. Would you please go back to bed and I will discuss everything with you in the morning."

Hermione sighed. "Ok daddy, love you. Night Nonna. Night Uncle Luc." and as quickly as she entered the young witch scampered away.

Next time : Gringotts.
