Three days had passed and to say Kagome was exhausted was an understatement. The restaurant was so busy both Jakotsu and her were working from open to close. It was Friday and she finally was able to rest. No word had come from Bankotsu or the Shikon clan so Kagome had assumed they were just being nice in suggesting they get to know her and Jakotsu. How wrong she was…
Kagome laid in bed sound asleep..more like passed out from pure exhaustion, when her phone ringing woke her up. Attempting to go back to sleep as Jakotsu promised he wouldn't call her at all today about the restaurant proved to be futile as whoever it was kept calling. Kagome begrudgingly swung over to get her phone and saw it was Bankotsu. Swiping to answer she put the phone on speaker and said hello.
"Kagome! Took you long enough I thought you were dead." Bankotsu laughed through the line.
"I was trying to get dead asleep but you woke me from my grave. What's up?"
"The Shikon clan told me they met you and Jakotsu and they would love to get to know you guys. Which is huge they never take interest in any of the other managers I've hired. They've helped me a lot so I set up dinner tomorrow night. Some of them are going to the karaoke club in mid town tonight and wanted to know if you wanted to come? Jakotsu already agreed and I'll be there too. I know how hard you guys have been working the last few days and you guys deserve a break to relax and I know you and Jakotsu are dying to sing and dance again and let loose. So what do you say?" Kagome could hear Bankotsu practically pleading her to go. Why? She wasn't sure. But he was right she missed dancing and singing with Jakotsu.
"Alright, you got me. What time and where?" Kagome agreed. Bankotsu quickly told Kagome what club to meet them at and where and hung up excited to see her let loose.
With Bankotsu
"She's going to come to the club with us tonight." Bankotsu spoke firmly and looked around the room at the other occupants.
The Shikon clan was sitting in Toga's hotel room and had just told him about how Kagome was Korari's lost daughter. He was shocked at first but it all made sense. They looked so similar it would be impossible for them not to be related.
"I have no idea how to tell her. How do I explain to her what happened?" Korari asked.
Akira grabbed her hand and told her "It will all work out my dear. I do think we need to tell her before we leave Kyoto, maybe she'll come back to Tokyo with us."
"I honestly don't know much about Kagome. I met her when her and Jakotsu arrived here. I don't know how her life was or if she has any idea of what happened to her. You said she was two when Isamu took her?" At Korari's nod Bankotsu continued " she most likely doesn't remember. When I tried asking her about her family she just told me she lived with her dad and her mother was dead. I can speak to Jakotsu about her a bit and see?" Bankotsu wanted to help any way he could. Akira told him they would appreciate that and to do what he could.
Toga directed his gaze at Inuyasha "Yash, I need to speak with you." His tone left no room for argument. The other occupants of the room left them alone, sensing this was a private conversation. Akira already knew what this conversation was going to entail. Toga was most likely going to tell Inuyasha to hold off on pursuing Kagome as his mate. When a demon finds his true mate it's almost impossible to stay away. His guilt from 20 years ago still hangs heavy in his mind, this just made it harder. He knew Inuyasha was struggling.
Toga looked at his son and sighed. He hoped this would be easy. But he knew what he was asking of his son, it would be hard.
"I already know dad." Inuyasha stated, not looking at his father. "I can't believe we finally find her and my damn demon claims her. Fate is such a bitch." He sneered.
"Do you not want Kagome as your mate?" Toga asked gently.
"I honestly never thought about it. I thought if she came back and we found her things would be back to normal. I never expected her to be my mate. Maybe it's a good thing she disappeared for years, would have seemed like I was grooming her." Inuyasha spat out disgusted at the idea.
"Stop that now, you would not have been grooming her! With demons it's tricky. We can know our true mate our whole young lives and not know until their scent reaches maturity age. It doesn't matter the age difference. Hell son you're 700 years old!" Toga scolded his son.
"732." Inuyasha mumbled. The older demon gave him a pointed look.
"You know what I mean. You can't think like that. If Kagome had stayed here and upon reaching maturity when you caught her scent you wouldn't have pursued it? The pull of a true mate is strong son." He looked solemnly at Inuyasha. "Not even a human can resist it. If she came to you admitting feelings you would have turned her away because she grew up around you?"
Inuyasha let out a frustrated growl and told his father he didn't know. Everything was so confusing. He felt so conflicted. This wasn't like him at all. The big bad hanyou usually gruff and tough not letting his guard down. Taking what he wants and never asking questions. He sat down on a chair in the room and looked up at his father.
"I'm going to play this cool. I'm not going to force her into being my mate. We tell her she's one of us and go from there." Inuyasha said sternly.
Toga nodded his head in agreement and told Inuyasha that was all. As Inuyasha left the study one thing on his mind. He would be as patient as a canine Youki could be however when his demon wanted something…he always got it.
With Kagome
After the call from Bankotsu Kagome fell back asleep for some much-needed rest. After about two hours of extra sleep Kagome got up, took her shower, and got ready to start her day…At noon.
After her shower she dressed in baggy grey sweatpants and a white crop tank top. She left her hair down to dry naturally and left to the kitchen. Walking into the kitchen she saw Jakotsu.
"Well hello sleeping beauty!" Jakotsu greeted her.
"Hey yourself. I needed that rest! What are you doing here I thought you were gonna be at the restaurant today?" Kagome asked.
"Well I planned on it but Ayumi came in and told me she's got it covered. So I decided to come home and see my bestie!" Jakotsu stated as if it was obvious.
Kagome nodded. Ayumi was a key holder at the restaurant. She never dealt with the manager paperwork but she had spare keys to open and close if one of them wasn't available. Bankotsu tried offering her a manager position but she told him she had no interest in it and being a key holder was fine for her.
"So my dear, tell me. How's the mommy search coming?" Jakotsu questioned as he handed her a mug of coffee.
Kagome frowned. "Honestly I haven't really been trying since we got here. Everything has been so crazy. I plan to do some research today before meeting with the Shikon clan at the club tonight. I want to look them up too. You know on the island we didn't really have a lot of internet access so I only know what the papers have put out about them."
"Don't you think asking them directly is a good way of getting to know them?" Jakotsu asked her.
"I mean yeah but I don't wanna make a fool of myself. Kami forbid they start talking about events I have no clue about!" Kagome cried out.
"Kags, baby, you're hopeless. But do as you please. But first let's get cracking on that mother of yours!" Jakotsu exclaimed excitedly.
Kagome nodded and grabbed her laptop, bringing it to the kitchen island for them both to see. They took a seat on the bar stools situated at the island.
Kagome frowned. "I don't even know where to start Jak." She said solemnly.
"Well type in your father's name and see what comes up?" Jakotsu suggested.
Nodding Kagome typed in her father's name. Immediately an article came up of a brutal divorce over 20 years ago. Kagome and Jakotsu exchanged frowns seeing the date of the article. It was around when Kagome was two. Opening the article Kagome read out loud.
"On Wednesday June 7th 2000 Ismau Takana and Korari Yamamoto went to court to settle their almost 3 year long divorce and custody battle. Isamu was facing domestic violence charges and he was denied custody. Takana swore revenge on Yamamoto claiming she cheated on him with a demon." Kagome looked at Jakotsu with wide eyes then back at the screen. "Shortly after filing for divorce Yamamoto was mated to business tycoon, Akira Higurashi, she even gave her daughter his last name." Kagome gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. Tears welling in her eyes she shakily continued. "Immediately following the verdict, Isamu stormed out the court room and was never seen or heard from again."
There was a long silence as Kagome started at the screen rereading the article over and over again as silent tears fell down her cheeks.
"Kags? Are you okay?" Jakotsu asked as he put his hand on her shoulder giving it a light squeeze. This was a lot for him to process so he could only imagine how Kagome was feeling.
Kagome didn't say anything as she searched for Korari Higurashi's daughter's disappearance. Immediately several articles came into view. Titling 'Missing toddler BOLO!', 'TAKANA KIDNAPS HIS OWN DAUGHTER', 'Akira's mate sells her daughter to her ex-husband'. The list went on and on. Kagome started shaking her head, her mind going a mile a minute. Jakotsu noticed and immediately went to calm her. He put his arms around her and held her to his chest. Her knees felt weak, and she collapsed sobbing into him.
"It's okay sweetie. It's okay let it out." He consoled her.
Kagome cried even harder. How could her father do this? What was his reason for taking her away from her mother? He told her mother died! And here she was alive! She had just unofficially met her mother days ago as her server! This was all too much to bare.
"Jak, what am I going to do? She's mated to Akira Higurashi! I highly doubt they'll just welcome me with open arms. I have so many questions. What is happening!?" She cried out.
"Kaggie, I don't know but let me tell you everything will be okay. Why don't you talk to her personally?" He suggested. "I don't know much about how the demon clans work but I'm sure she will believe and accept you. As for the clan I don't know sweetie. I really don't and I wish I did."
Kagome sighed and got out of Jakotsu's hold. She told him she needed to be alone for a while and she'll see him at the club tonight.
"You're still going? After finding out?" Jakotsu asked her surprised.
"Yes, I can't sit in my room and cry about it all night. I need to just face it." Was Kagome's reply before she disappeared into her room. Once in her room she erected a barrier as she sank to the floor and stared at the window in disbelief. Her mind racing. She couldn't believe her father had lied to her all these years. Actually, she could that was exactly like him. Why did he take her what was the purpose? Was it for her Miko powers? Kaede told Kagome she was one most powerful Mikos she's encountered in almost 50 years.
'I should have known. Of course, father only wanted me for my powers. That's why he had Kaede train me so hard. Gosh I hope she's okay and made it out of there. Then there's my mother. Korari Higurashi mated to Akira Higurashi. If I was taken when I was two almost three and they were already mated then he knows me. Don't dog demons have an amazing sense of smell? I wonder if he'd be able to smell me and confirm I'm telling the truth?' Kagome growled in frustration at the last thought. She felt completely lost. Looking at her phone she saw it was time to start getting ready for the club. She was lost in thought for hours. Getting up she headed to her closet and picked out a black mini skirt and a tight cropped tank top that laced up in the front. The opening of her shirt showed the skin between her breast where a tattoo of an arrow going through a crescent moon laid. To top off her look she paired black heeled knee-high boots and a small clutch for her cards and ID. Adding her usual necklace, she pulled her hair into a half up half down style with two long pieces of hair framing her face on either side. For makeup she did light eyeliner and mascara with a shimmery lip gloss.
'I got to thank Jakotsu again for updating my closet. I feel so confident in these new clothes.' She giggled to herself. She grabbed her phone and keys and made her way to her car to head to the club.
At the club
Jakotsu was already at the club with Bankotsu. Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Daichi, Sesshomaru, and Rin had arrived before them, and gad reserved a section for everyone.
"Hey Jakotsu when is Kagome coming?" Bankotsu asked.
"She should be here soon. She had a rough morning, but she told me she would for sure be here" was Jakotsu's reply.
Inuyasha sipped on his whiskey on the rocks. He was semi excited to see Kagome. Since his demon had made it known she was his mate he had been craving to see her and speak to her. He wore dark wash baggy jeans and a red Armani Exchange t shirt with red and white air forces. His usual long hair was tied into a ban bun at the back of his head showing off his ears.
"Yash you gonna be okay?" Sesshomaru asked him.
"Keh. I'll be fine. I'm not gonna attack the wench." Inuyasha gruffly replied.
"I simply hope no man tries to talk to her. It would be quite interesting to explain why you killed some male for talking to a woman you barely even know." Miroku added. Inuyasha growled at him and was about to reply when he smelt her. His demon purred inside him excited to finally see his mate again. Inuyasha whipped his head around and saw her. She looked stunning. Her heels only added a few inches to her height but she still stood shorter of him. He took notice of the tattoo and wondered how many more she had hidden, he wanted to find them.
"KAGGIE!" Jakotsu exclaimed seeing her and waving her over.
Kagome made her way over and said hi to everyone. She took a seat next to Inuyasha and Jakotsu. Ordering herself a Malibu Blue Hawaiian she started conversation with the girls. They quickly hit it off. Speaking to Daichi she learned he was Korari's son. She felt ecstatic to learn she had a brother. Inuyasha she immediately took notice of his gruff exterior, but something about him made her want to know more about him. Throughout talking to everyone she found herself most interested in his replies. She maintained eye contact when talking to him and he held it strongly. By her third Blue Hawaiian she was ready to start singing.
"Jak I'm gonna get up there. I've had enough liquid courage." Kagome announced.
"FINALLY!" Jakotsu exclaimed. "I was waiting for you to be ready! I've been ready to sing and dance on table tops."
Kagome laughed at him, and they made their way to the Dj booth to get a track going. Kagome gave the Dj a track to play as she came prepared to sing her own songs. A bit depressing at first but she needed to let this one out before letting loose completely.

"Yeah go ahead I got her." Inuyasha stated while wrapping an arm around Kagome to keep her up.
After agreeing that Inuyasha would take Kagome home and telling him where exactly she lived, everyone left and Inuyasha loaded her into his car and sped off to her apartment. The ride was definitely a struggle for Inuyasha. Being in such close proximity to his mate yet not able to touch her. But he knew she was in no position for his advances and he promised his father he'd let her come to him naturally. He also couldn't take advantage of her while she was drunk. This was his mate. Kagome talked his ear off about nonsense the whole ride but he listened intently. Smiling at her silliness. He loved the sound of her voice. Once he got to her building he carried her up to her apartment. The whole time she giggled and rubbed tried to rub his ears. Inuyasha could feel himself getting excited from her attempts so he quickly shut her attempts down with a low growl. She giggled at his growl but stopped trying to grab his ears.
Reaching her door he set her down and grabbed her keys to unlock the door. They walked into the apartment and Inuyasha helped her take her makeup off and take her hair down. When she started taking her clothes off he quickly turned around to give her privacy. In her drunken state she didn't even realize he was standing there. Once dressed and cleaned Inuyasha grabbed a bucket, water bottle, and two aspirins and put them by her bed. Kagome walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. He froze.
"Tank youuuuuu Inu!" She said quietly.
He turned around to face her and replied. "Of course Kagome. Let's get you to bed."
He picked her up and laid her down in her bed. As he pulled away she gripped the front of his shirt and pulled him to her. Noses touching, she looked in his eyes.

His face went red and he had to fight himself to not give in. "You're drunk Kagome, that's not what you want." And he tried to pull away again gently.
Kagome refused to let go and slammed her lips against his. Inuyasha was unable to stop himself. He kissed her back vigorously, his going immediately probing for entrance inside her warm cavern. When she opened her mouth he gripped the back of her head keeping her to him. Their tongues battled for dominance and ultimately Inuyasha won. Kagome slowly pulled back, biting his lip as she did. This urged Inuyasha more and he once again captured her lips. The battle began again until Inuyasha pulled away before he lost all control.
Kagome smirked at him and gave him a peck on the lips. "I really wanted that." She said lowly, her eyes fighting to stay open.
Inuyasha smiled lightly and replied. "Me too."
Kagome smiled back and laid her head on her pillow and in seconds was fast asleep. Inuyasha sighed to himself. He knew he couldn't stay without loosing his control. He kissed her forehead, tucked her under the blankets and left her apartment. Turning all the lights off and making sure her door was locked he left to his hotel suite smirking to himself Inuyasha finally got an answer to one of his questions. Her lips were definitely as soft as they looked.
The next morning
Kagome woke to her phone ringing loudly. The sound caused her head to feel like it was going to split into two. She groaned and rolled over to see who was calling and to stop the god awful noise. Seeing it was Jakotsu she quickly answered it.
"What do you want so early in the morning?" Kagome growled out.
"Just wanted to make sure you're still alive you were completely wasted last night. And it's not morning sweetie it's 2pm." Jakotsu replied.
"Huh?" Kagome said and checked her clock. "Oh fuck." She groaned.
"Don't worry about it I got the restaurant covered. Sooo tell me what happened after Inuyasha dropped you off last night!" He squealed.
"Inuyasha brought me home?" She asked.
"Uh yeah Kags. You were so wasted there was no way you could drive, so Yash offered to bring you home." Jakotsu told her.
"Oh. I don't remember actually."

Kagome hung up quickly and sighed. She decided to get a shower before getting dressed and heading to the hotel the clan was at. She made her decision to speak to Korari. Sitting up from her bed she noticed a bottle of water and pain pills alongside a little sticky note.

In the shower she scrubbed her body and washed her hair and face. When she was done she got out and wrapped a fluffy towel around herself. Going to her closet she grabbed a pair of light wash ripped jeans and a white short sleeve cropped t shirt that had 4 buttons in the middle. She grabbed a matching pair of bra and panties in white silk. Going to her bed she set her clothes on her bed, grabbed her unscented lotion and began to moisturize her body. She put her undergarments and clothing on before sitting at her vanity to do her hair. She ran a brush through it then brushed it into a ponytail atop her head with small baby hairs on the side by her ears. Kagome put a face moisturizer on, rubbing it into her skin. She fixed her necklace, so it sat perfectly in her chest above her cleavage. For makeup she did a little mascara, eyeliner and clear lip-gloss.
Going back to her closet she found a pair of black Uggs with bows on the back. Grabbing socks and a black leather jacket she quickly finished putting her look together. Standing in front of her mirror she gave herself a look over and smiled to herself. She turned around to grab her purse when her phone started ringing again. Caller ID read 'Jak' so she quickly answered it.
"What's up Jak?" Kagome said.
"Well considering it's almost 4pm the Shikon Clan changed the lunch to dinner since SOMEONE practically died on us all day." Jakotsu seethed.
"Oh. Heh oops? I'm sorry. What time and where is the dinner I'll be there. Is it fancy?" She asked.
"You're fine miss missy. But yes it's fancy, it's gonna be at the Sounga restaurant at 6pm so you may want to get ready."
Kagome sighed realizing she now had to change her outfit right after she got dressed and replied "okay I'll change quick and head over there."
Hanging up Kagome made her way back to her closet and picked out a formal black dress and silver heels to wear. Quickly getting undressed she walked over to her vanity to do her hair. She took it out her ponytail and brushed it out. She parted her hair on the right side and pulled it back into an elegant bun. Sounga was an extremely classy and high priced restaurant so she wanted to make sure she looked the part. Once her hair was done she put diamond stud earrings in. Keeping her necklace on she grabbed a silver cubic zirconia tennis bracelet and placed it on her left wrist. She smiled to herself in the mirror and got up to put the dress on. The dress was all black. The strapless bodice hugged her curves and had satin material in intricate pinches and ruffles. The bottom of the dress had the same satin material but had a lace overlay. She paired it with silver heels and jewelry. Keeping the same makeup on she reapplied her lip-gloss and grabbed a silver clutch and put her phone wallet and keys in it.
At Sounga
Everyone was sitting at a long table conversing among themselves. Kagome was sitting between Inuyasha and Jakotsu, Sango was across from her. Sango asked Kagome lots of questions about her favorite things and activities. Kagome could tell the two of them could be great friends. All peaceful chatter stopped when Akira asked Kagome how she grew up.
The tablet went dead silent and Jakotsu looked at Kagome and squeezed her hand under the table. This was her opening. She took a deep breath.
"Well, I lived with my dad on Miyako Island. Never really had access to internet until I started working at the diner with Jakotsu. My father had a drinking problem. He was a raging alcoholic and often got frustrated. I never knew my mother. My father told me she died when I was young." Kagome took a deep breath to push her tears back, then continued. "He often told me I was useless and would talk down about my mother to me. When I was 12 he let my cousins and his brothers and friends feel me up and they'd pay him. He often beat on me when something wasn't done right or to his liking." Tears started leaking from her eyes. "When I was 17 his friend paid him so he could have sex with me. But he couldn't get it up..so he…." Kagome took a few deep breathes to calm herself. "He took a broomstick and used that on me." A sob forced its way out her throat. Jakotsu wrapped an arm around her and told her it was okay. "The day we left the island he beat me worse than ever before. He slipped up and told me my mother was alive. So I left with Jak in the middle of the night. I've been searching for her since." As she finished speaking she looked to Akira and Korari.
All the demons were fighting their inner demons. They screamed at them to find the bastards that hurt their pack mate. Inuyasha was having the hardest time controlling his. His mate endured so much suffering and he was helpless. The fight was getting harder and harder until he felt a hand on his. He looked at his lap where his clenched fist was and saw Kagome's dainty hand atop his. He grabbed her hand in his and laced their fingers together. She gave his hand a small squeeze. Inuyasha looked at her but she was still looking at Akira and Korari.
Toga cleared his throat. "I'm so sorry you went through that Kagome." He said sincerely.
Kagome smiled at him and shook her head. It was the past there was nothing that could be done. Korari called her name and asked her if she had any idea who her mother was.
"No. All my father had said was that she left him for a demon." Was Kagome's reply.
Korari and Kagome locked eyes. "Kagome, I think you're my daughter." Korari said softly.
Kagome smiled softly. "I think so too."
