Harry couldn't belive what he had read. He had finally gotten his Hogwarts acceptance letter.
He was somewhat confused as the Letter had come in, in the summer for his mom according to his Aunt but; he couldn't care less.
"I gotta tell Aunt Petunia." He said with a smile.
Harry was laying in his bed with a bright smile, two days had passed since Harry had gotten the Hogwarts acceptance letter.
Aunt Petunia was quite confused when Harry had taken her into her room so excitedly.
"What is it Harry?" Petunia asked while crossing her arms.
"Look, it's my Hogwarts acceptance letter." Harry said excitedly whole handing the letter to Petunia.
"Well, Congratulations." She said while smiling and grabbing the letter.
Inside her, her heart throbbed a little as she looked at the letter that had been her only dream.
"You'll be a great wizard Harry." She said controlling her feelings. Well atleast trying to control them.
"Hey Auunt Petunia, was my dad a great wizard?" Harry asked curiously.
Petunia's breath sharpened as she thought of James Potter. The man who had taken her sister away from her.
"I have no doubt he was." She replied trying her best to give her a smile.
"So uhh, I guess we don't have to buy the books." Harry said with a small smile.
"I suppose not." She replied.
Harry was currently reading the book on spells. Apparently they were called charms and the first two spells he could learn were the "Lumos" charm and the "Nox" charm.
They were simple in theory, Lumos would make a small light appear on the tip of a wand making it like a bulb; while Nox would extinguish the light.
"A flick of the wand or slight jab in any direction." Harry read the wand movement needed to use the Nox spell.
"A Single Counter-Clockwise Loop." He read the movement for the Lumos charm.
"That's pretty easy." He said as he moved his hand around trying to practice the movement.
'I wonder why the spells work, I mean there's gotta be some reason.' Harry thought after some reasoning. Math's and Science had taught him there was always a reason for something to happen.
However the books on magic never gave a reason they simple told him to "Imagine" the spells and make his "Intent" clear.
"I can't wait to get to Hogwarts." He said with a smile.
Knock! Knock!
Harry looked confused as he heard the knocks, Aunt Petunia was out at a friends, Vernon was at his job and Dudley was at his after-school tuition.
He quickly went downstairs and opened the door. His eyes widened when an extremely large man was standing infront of the door. The man had a beard and a stomach coming.
"Ahh you must be harry." The man said in an accent.
(A/N I'm not going to write any accents, so you could just imagine them)
"Uhhh how do you know my name?" Harry asked while he looked at the man.
"Oh who doesn't know about The-Boy-Who-Lived."
The man said with a laugh.
"Maybe you have the wrong Harry?" Harry asked confused.
"No no that scar of yours is special to you only." The man said.
"Oh where are my manner, I'm Hagrid Gatekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Groundsat the Hogwarts." Hagrid said cheerfully.
"You work at Hogwarts?" Harry asked shocked.
"Of course I do, now if I ask where are your uncle and aunt?" Hagrid asked.
"Oh they're not home." Harry answered truthfully.
"That's a good thing, say how about we get you your school supplies?" Hagrid asked with a smile.
"Uhmm I'd have to aske Aunt Petunia." Harry replied.
"Oh just right a note." Hagrid said.
"But.. You know what sure." The excitement to get to Hogwarts clouded Harry's mind as he quickly went inside to write a note of him leaving for a bit.
Harry was standing next to Hagrid as he stood infront of a pub called "The Leaky Cauldron".
'Maybe following some random guy saying he's a part of hogwarts.' He thought with skepticism.
They entered the shop as Hagrid went and greeted the man at the counter.
"Hello Hagrid, the usual?" He asked.
"No this time Tom, I'm on school buissness." Hagrid replied. Tom's eyes landed on Harry.
"Oh a first yeat, nice to meet you kid. what's your name." Tom asked with a smile.
"Harry." Harry replied.
Tom's eyes widened as he looked at Hagrid for conformation. Hagrid nodded to answer the man's answer.
"My God Harry Potter. It's a pleasure to meet you." Tom said extending his hand out. Harry shook his hand.
"Harry Potter."
"The-Boy-Who-Lived."
Multiple murmurs came as Harry was surrounded by a crowd of people.
"Couls you sign this." A man said giving him a book.
"Can you write a note for my daughter?" Another asked.
Soon the entire pub had gathered Harry and were asking him things.
"Sorry people, we have to get school supplies." Hagrid said making way for Harry to move.
Harry looked at the wall infront of him in confusion. "Are you sure this leads to a magical marke?" He asked.
"Oh Harry, The magical world is all around of us." Hagrid said as he pressed a few bricks with his umbrella.
The wall started to open up as Harry saw a giant market with thousands of people shopping.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley." Hagrid said with a smile.
Harry's eyes widened in awe. Thousands of wizards and witches roamed the Alley. Children, Adults and Teens.
All who were magical, all who were like him. Harry entered the alley and couldn't help but feel excitement wash over.
"Where are we going to go first?" He asked Hagrid.
"Well the most important thing is to go to Gringotts." The half-giant smiled and started to move.
Harry's eye's grew wider as he stared at the snowy white building which was massive compared to the shops below him.
His eyes landed on a small figure standing beside the bronze doors.
"Is that-?"
"A goblin, yes it. Now let's get going." Hagrid said cutting of Harry.
They entered the building and were met by a second silver door with engravings on it which read.
"Enter, Stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there."
Harry couldn't help but sweat at the goblins blatantly threatening any theives, but he couldn't complain at their bold approch.
"You shouldn't even think about robbing the lot of them." Hagrid chuckled as he read the engravings.
They entered through the second door and entered the Gringotts Bank.
Harry was slightly puzzled by the two goblins, that bowed when they entered, but they quickly made their way to the front.
"We are here to get money out young Harry's vault." The man told the goblin.
"Do you have the key?" Hagrid looked around the key and gave it to the goblin.
"This seems to be in order." The goblin said while gazing the key.
"Ooh a letter from Professor Dumbledore it's about You-know-what in vault 713." Hagrid said while giving the man a vault.
The goblin grabbed the vault. "I'll have someone assist you, Griphook!"
"I have a vault to my name?" Harry asked shocked.
"Of course you do, did you think your parents left you empty handed?" Hagrid said with a smile.
"But why do you have the key?" Harry asked confused.
"Well by law your magical gaurdian is Professor Dumbledore, so he had the key to you magical bank anf gave it to me." Harry was confused by the answer. Dumbledore was the stronger wizard of their time and he was his gaurdian.
"Hello, follow me." A goblin approched the two, whom Harry assumed was Griphook.
They were led to a door which Griphook graciously unlocked and let them enter.
Harry looked once more puzzled as he saw the railway in the door.
Whistle!
Griphook whistled as a cart appeared infront of them. They all got in easily, well accept Hagrid who had to squish his way in.
They made their way to the giant underground bank, Harry noticed that the goblin didn't stear the wheel.
'Must be magic.' He though with excitement.
They reached a vault as Harry read the number 687.
"All yours." Hagrid said.
Harry got out the cart with the goblin who made his way to the vault and opened it with the key.
"As your family's personal accountant I am required to tell you that you have, 50,625 Galleons, 8,675 sickled and 565 Knuts." The goblin told him.
Thankfully Harry had the gist of magical currencies due to Aunt Petunia. Knowing the currencies values also made Harry quite shocked.
This amount of money could let him live life with working for atleast a decade, it was a small fortune.
"Seeing your surprised face I am to assume you do not know of your heritage, so again as your accountant I have to infrom you this is your trust vault it only contain 10 percent of your family vaults value." The goblin told him with a cough.
This left Harry even more shocked, this meant that he had around Half a Million Galleons in his bankd and was set for his entire life.
"Uhmm how much should I take." Harry muttered to himself as he entered the vault filled with a mountain of gold.
He grabbed a couple hundred and exited the vault.
"I can give you an endless storage pouch for 10 galleons." Griphook said with greedy smile.
"Sure." Harry handed him 10 of the golden coins.
Snap!
With a snap of his finger Harry saw a pouch appear in his hand. The goblin gave it to Harry who looked surprised.
He quickly put the coins in the small bag and was awed as how the coins went in eventough they should have filled the bag.
Harry got back in the cart as the made there way to get to the other vault.
"Vault 713." The golin said as he stepped out with Hagrid.
Hagrid went and opened the vault and took out a small pouch and put it in his pocked. Harry saw the pouch and was intrigued as to what it was.
"What's in the pouch?" Harry asked as Hagrid entered the cart.
"Sorry Harry can't tell you, It's school buisness." Hagrid answered.
"You know its quite surprising you have your books alreay, but I guess it will be making our time easier." Hagrid said as he made his way to a shop.
"Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions." Harry read as he quickly entered.
"Say Harry could I go and get something to eat, I've been starving since the morning.," Hagrid asked.
"Sure." Harry smiled as he saw the half-giant blush.
"I'll be right back." He said as he walked off.
Harry entered the shop and was greeted by a witch in all mauve.
"Hogwarts dear?" She asked with a bright smile.
"It's quite rare to see a First Year shopping this early, but I guess it's better to be punctual. Wiat one minute I have another girl who I just fitted." The woman said with a smile as she went to the back of the shop.
"Hey." Harry heard a voice. He turned around and saw a blonde haired girl with blue eyes wearing a green dress.
"Hogwarts?" She asked.
"Uhh Yeah." Harry said nervously.
"You know sis when mom said you should be more friendly, this isn't what she met." Harry saw another girly slightly younger with brown hair and blue eyes.
"Shut Up. I won't get you Ice cream if you continue being annoying." The girl said annoyed and slightly embarrassed.
"Here you go dear." Madam Malkin's returned and gave the girl her robes.
"Follow me Mr?" Madam Malkin's asked.
"Potter, Harry Potter." Harry replied.
"Oh my, we have a celebrity in here, don't worry I wont reveal your secret." The witch winked.
Harry walked around with Hagrid around Diagon Alley. "Next we need to get your wand." Harry's eyes opened up in excitement.
They made their way to the wand shop but on their way Harry's eyes landed on a particular shop.
It was an animal store, Harry's eyes landed on a beautiful snowy owl in the shop and couldn't help but be mesmorized.
"You wanna get an owl?" Hagrid asked as he looked at the owl.
"Yeah." Harry said with a smile.
"They are misuderstood ones. Quite useful in sending messages as well." Hagrid said with a smile.
Harry walked out of the shop with the beautifull owl in a cage. Harry had learned that the owl was a female and SHE was quite the fiesty one.
"Now to get you your wand." Hagrid said with a smile.
The two reached an old wooden shop with a sign that read "Olivanders : Makers Of Fine Wands Since 382 B.C."
'Surley that sign isn't accurate right.' The boy though as he entered the store.
The store was quite small with lots of boxes in there. Hagrid had to stay outside because of how small it was.
Bam!
A man appeared infront of Harry, the boy jumped back as his heart started to beat faster.
"I've been waiting for you Mr Potter." The silver eyed man creepily said.
"You know me?" Harry asked.
"Of course I do, almost everyone in Magical Britain does." The man said eerily.
"I guess they do." Harry said annoyed.
"Hate attention just like your mother, oh my where are my manners my name is Ollivander." The man said with a smile.
"You knew my mom?" Harry asked with surprise.
"Yes feels like last night that I sold her, her wand. Ten and a quarter inches, swishy made of wellow. Your father on the other hand, had a Mahogany wand Eleven inches, Great for transfiguration." The man said.
"How do you remember that?" Harry asked.
"I know ever wand that I have ever sold Mr Potter, Wand making is a special art that only a me and a few others do. Remeber Mr Potter a wand is your partner. For that reason the Wand chooses the Wizard." The man said with a smile.
"Now please extend your doninant arm." The man asked. Harry put out his right arm and the man meassured it with some measuring tape.
Ollivander went and took out a small wand and gave it to Harry.
"Every Ollivander wand has a core of a powerful magical substance, Mr. Potter. We use unicorn hairs, phoenixtail feathers, and the heartstrings of dragons. No two Ollivander wands are the same, just as no two unicorns, dragons, or phoenixes are quite the same. And of course, you will never get such good results with another Wizard's wand" Ollivander said with a smile.
"Right then, Mr. Potter. Try this one. Beechwood and dragon heartstring. Nine inches. Nice and flexible. just take it and give it a wave." Harry took the wand and waved it around a bit, but Mr Ollivander snatched it out of his hand almost at once. He had also felt the aura of the wand and it didn't fe right to him so he knew it wouldn't be for him.
"Maple and phoenix feather. Seven inches. Quite whippy. Try --" Harry tried -- but he had hardly raised the wand when it, too, was snatched back by Mr. Ollivander.
"No, no -here, ebony and unicorn hair, eight and a half inches, springy. Go on, go on, try it out."
Harry tried. And tried. He had no idea what Mr. Ollivander was waiting for, Suddenly boxes started to fly around as Ollivander quickly took the wand out of his hand.
"Definitely not." The man said with a smile "Could it be?" He said after a few seconds.
Ollivander went to grab a wand and came back with a dusty old box.
"Try this holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple." The man said with a weird glint in his eyes.
Harry grabbed the wand and he felt an immediate warm ferling. He gave it a twirl and he felt an amazing sensation. The aura of the wand was warm, welcoming.
"Curious, How curious." The man said while staring the wand
"What's curious?" Harry asked.
"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Potter. Every single wand. It so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather -- just one other. It is very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when its brother why, its brother gaveyou that scar."
Harry swallowed his spit and sweat started to form on his face, he had learned from Hagrid about the man who gave him his scar.
"Yes, thirteen-and-a-half inches. Yew. Curious indeed how these things happen. The wand chooses the wizard, remember... I think we must expect great things from you, Mr. Potter... After all, He- Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things terrible, yes, but great."
Harry shivered. He wasn't sure he liked Ollivander too much.
"How much for the wand" He wanted to get out from this place and now.
"Seven Galleons." The man answered. Harry quickly gave him the galleons and made his way outside the shop.
"That was weird." Harry muttered out.
"He's always been a weird man Harry." Hagrid said with a chuckle.
"Now should we get you home." Hagrid said. Harry looked at the sky and realised it was evening.
'I'm screwed.' Aunt Petunua was going to skin him alive when he got home.
Petunia was worried.
