Before we entered Isran quarters, I stopped Serana, which in turn looked at me puzzled. " What is it ?" She asked me.
I looked at her and gave her the most reassuring smile I could muster up, which in turn made her tense posture loosen up a bit.
" Before we go in there, I must say something," I said. Serana looked at me a bit puzzled before she nodded.
" I still have my doubts about trusting you, but I believe it's the right thing to do. And I want you to know that I believe it when you say that you truly wanna help." My remark made her smile a little.
" Thank you.." she said.
I pinched her arm a little in the hopes of reassuring her a bit more. After that, we opened the door.
As we walked in, Isran was sitting at his desk. His big axe was hanging on an armor rack. The man looked up from his ledger. He was probably working on some administration.
" So the odd couple is finally here." Isran said as he looked at us sternly.
I could feel that Serena slightly tensed up at that remark. I nudged her a little, which made her relax a bit. After that, I locked eyes with Isran. " So, what do you want us to do?"
Isran expression changed from stern to serious as he got up from his chair and paced around a bit.
" Seeing as we now have the elder scroll, we have to find a way to read it. The only way of doing that is to find a moth priest."
I looked at Isran, a bit puzzled.' What the hell is a moth priest?' I thought to myself.
But before I could say anything, Serana spoke up.
" Where would we find such a priest, mostly man like that are cooped up in a study for most of their lives."
Isran smiled a little, which got me suspicious as to why he suddenly smiled at Serana.
" Well, vampire, the divines have smiled on us. There is a moth priest in Skyrim at the moment." His word choice vampire gave away he still had resentment for Serana by simply not acknowledging her name.
" So, do you know where to find him?" I asked Isran.
The man smiled again, but this time with a sadistic hint. " Well, that is for the both of you to find out. I expect results and not another failure Dracar." The last part shot at me. For failing two times.
I glared a bit at Isran as I found it idiotic to go on a wild goose chase across Skyrim, searching for one person.
" Do you have any idea how big Skyrim is? We could be searching for months and still not find him!" I said, a bit agitated.
Isran looked at me as stoic as ever.
" You will figure it out, and I do not need to remind u that we are in a hurry."
I glared at the man again and nodded. After that, I made my way towards the exit, a bit pissed. But before I could get out of the room, Isran spoke up again.
" One thing, maybe it is best you two leave that elder scroll here... I wouldn't want you two to lose it."
Serana turned around, and I could feel the atmosphere getting dense as she let out some of her vampiric power.
" We get it you don't trust me, that's fine. But the elder scroll stays with me! So get that I don't trust you with it just as much as I would trust a skeever with a piece of cheese." My eyes widened a bit at that remark as I held in a chuckle. Isran, however, wasn't as amused as me, but he conceded in the end.
" Fine."
Serana and I finally made our way out of the castle, and as soon as we were out, I began to laugh. Which made Serana look at me puzzled.
" What?" She said as she raised her eyebrow at me.
" Nothing in particular, but I just can't shake the thought of Isran as a skeever munching on the elder scroll, haha," I said as I burst into laughter again.
Serana began to giggle a little, which made my heart flutter a bit. She really has the voice of an angel, and it's even better when she giggles like that.
She looked at me, amused. " I must admit that must be an amusing sight to see."
The both of us laughed a bit more as we made our way down the slope and towards. The palisade wall once there, the guards opened the door for us, and we made our way down to the lake. Along the way down, I noticed Serana glancing at me a few times.
But didn't think anything of it, we made our way through the narrow mountain pass. Serana made a few remarks about how uncomfortable she felt being confined to such a small space.
As we approached the exit, I could hear Serana's sigh of relief. The sun was shining bright as it lit up the canyon with an orange hue. Serana put her hood on, and we made our way towards Riften.
" I think it's best if we start in Riften and make our way from town to town. Asking innkeepers and guards would be our best bet. Wouldn't you think so?" I asked Serana.
Serana, who was still enjoying the nice weather, turned to look at me and patted me on the helmet.
" Aren't you the smart man now." She teasingly said.
I quirked my eyebrow at her, which she couldn't see, obviously.
" What's that supposed to mean, huh?" I said with an annoyed tone.
Serana just began to smile innocently.
'She is toying with me again. God, I don't like this side of her.' So I thought as I stomped past Serana, which in turn began to laugh. Her melodic laugh reached my ears and made my heart race a bit faster.
" No, I think that is a good point Dracar, maybe we could even visit the mage college. They would certainly know where the priest is."
" Good point, we should go there after searching in Windhelm."
As we walked in between the mountains towards Riften, I caught Serana glancing at me again. ' Why is she looking at me so much. Is she suspicious of me or something? Maybe it's nothing, or is it?' So I thought to myself, and I trailed back a bit while I was in my thoughts.
Serana stopped in the middle of the road, which made me bump into her.
" Hey, what's the matter? Why did you stop?"
I looked at Serana, but her gaze was locked on something. I looked in the direction she was looking at, and my mouth fell open in shock.
Riften was on fire, and substantial smoke clouds were rising from the city as a red hue hung above the city from the inferno that raged. Then my attention turned towards a fireball that a trebuchet shot from across the lake. The imperials were attacking the city.
" Well, that scraps Riften from the list," Serana stated as she watched the inferno rage on.
We watched as a few refugees fled the city from the northern gate but were followed by a few imperial soldiers.
I watched in horror as the civilians got slaughtered by the imperial soldiers. I clenched my fist as I screamed in rage. This wasn't the first time I saw what the imperial army could do. They are ruthless even against their own. I could know in Cyrodill I served in the ninety-sixth legion under general Auralian Brutus. The same man who chased me out of Cyrodill for my crimes against my family.
Then something in me snapped as I saw a child running for his life. And saw that the imperial soldiers were firing arrows at him for fun. So without thinking, I sprinted towards the child. Leaving Serana behind dumbfounded at the speed I was running at.
As I quickly approached the kid, I saw that an arrow was closing in on the child. Seeing that I was not going to make it, rage burst through my whole being, and I felt the same power from when I fought the dragons. And with all my might, I shouted. **FUS** A shockwave emitted from the voice and burst towards the child. The kid, in turn, ducked down, and the arrow directed towards him was flung away. As I did this, the imperial soldiers at first looked shocked before grabbing their bows.
I grabbed the shield which was strapped to my back and covered the kid and me. As the impact came, the arrows hit the shield, and I looked at the frightened child who was sobbing behind me. Then, with my most kind and caring tone, I spoke to him. "It's okay now. I will save you."
I looked behind me to see that Serana was no longer there; instead, I saw a massive bolt of lightning firing towards the soldiers. The light of which blinded me as it shot past me.
Serana, with her superhuman speed, was quick to be by my side. I picked up the kid and gave him to her. " Get him to safety. I got this." Serana nodded and sprinted to safety.
I got up on my feet and readied my shield and Nightbane, which was glowing furiously. It almost seemed it was reacting to my rage. I felt the sword buzz a bit as the runes on its edge were shining brightly.
An arrow was shot towards me. I ducked down, but it managed to hit the top of my helmet. The force of the arrow was enough to hit the helmet of my head. Now revealing my face, I glared at the soldiers.
" Give up. You can't win against us! Do you see our numbers ?" One shouted as he got his shield up.
" Tough talk for a man targeting innocent people and children. How about a real challenge."
The soldiers didn't fare well on that remark as they charged me in rage. The first one came up to me. He was a dual wielder, a knife in one hand and an imperial sword in the other. As his knife connected with my shield, I bashed it forward, stunning the guy for a moment. I swung Nightbane as hard as I could. The soldier tried readying his sword but to no avail. Nightbane swung right through the imperial steel like a hot knife through butter.
The steel shards flung in the eyes of the imperial as he screamed in agony. However, I didn't get to finish the guy off as two other soldiers pounced at me. But, with my shield, I managed to block the guy to my left. And I parried the other with Nightbane.
I kicked the guy on my left in his kneecaps and swung my shield in the other guy's head, making him tumble backward. As he stumbled back, I stabbed Nightbane in his chest. The guy fell down with a loud thump. I screamed loudly as I bashed the other guy with my shield. I swung Nightbane at his head as he was stunned by the impact, cutting it clean off.
After a while of fighting hard, I got surrounded by about ten imperial soldiers. I managed to glance at Serana which was charging up a lightning bolt, but I shook my head as I saw many soldiers running out of the gate towards me.
The imperial soldiers all charged me at once. I ducked down just in time to dodge a sword directed at my head. And managed to kick the guy away. As the next was already charging me, bashing his Warhammer at me. My shield took the brunt of the damage, but I felt my arm tingle from the impact as it became more challenging for me to hold my shield.
The next guy managed to get a cut in my side. As I fell down slightly, I pushed him away with my shield. And thrust Nightbane in his stomach, which made him scream in agony. The guy with the Warhammer hit my shield again. But this time, it was too much for my arm to handle as I dropped the shield. I managed to get up from my knees and launch myself at the guy sticking the knife at my belt and thrust it in his neck.
I rolled away from the next guy charging me. Then, as his sword connected with the ground, I kicked it away and punched the man in his groin, which made him fall down as I got on top of him, ready to kill him. But, instead, I was hit on the back of my head with a sword pommel.
I groggily tried to get up but was hit again, which made me lose consciousness.
Serana watched in horror as she saw me go down. She held the kid tightly to her chest. But sighed in relief as she saw my body get dragged by two soldiers towards a captain. Behind me lay an onslaught of dead imperial soldiers.
With her superhuman hearing, she listened to what the soldiers were saying.
" Commander, we caught him. What should we do with this one?"
The commander scratched the back of his heart.
" Tie him down, and we take this one to Solitude. He doesn't appear to be wearing rebel armor."
The soldier glared at his commander.
" But sir, he killed at least ten-man!"
The commander began to unsheath his sword. "Do you want to be eleven, huh? He comes with us towards the capitol, got that!" The man said authority, evident in his tone.
Serana sighed in relief. " Thank the divines, say kid are you doing okay?" The small child looked up at Serana and wiped his tears from his face. Then, with a slight whisper, he spoke."I think I am. Where is the sir that saved me?"
Serana looked at the boy with a sad expression on her face. " He got captured..." The boy looked down at the ground.
But then Serana thought of a plan as she looked at the kid.
" Say, boy, do you wanna go on an adventure?" The boy looked up at her and nodded excitedly. "Sure!"
As I got dragged towards the imperial camp and placed in a prisoner carriage. The imperials sounded a horn which meant that they were moving out.
As the commander left a garrison at Riften, the army made ready to March back to Solitude.
As the army was moving, they were stalked by Serana and the kid.
On the second day of the March back, I woke up. My head was banging as I felt an unbearable headache. I tried touching my head but noticed I was tied down. My vision was not yet clear, but I could make out that I was in a cart. ' Ugh, not again...' I thought to myself.
My vision cleared up a bit, and I looked around the carriage to see I was sitting alone in it. Next to the carriage was the commander riding on his horse. He glanced at me for a bit before turning his attention back on the road before him.
I looked at our surroundings and saw that we were hallway past Rorickstead. My attention turned towards the commander as I heard that he was clearing his throat.
" So why did you attack my soldiers? You don't look like a stormcloack." The man remarked, looking at the battered Dawnguard armor. It was in bad shape from fighting the soldiers.
I looked up at the man and scoffed. The man, in turn, glared at me. " You know you will be hanged for this. You better speak."
I looked at the man again and glared. " If you call that soldiers of the imperial army. Then my name is Akatosh." Which earned me a quirked eyebrow from the man.
I continued.
" That scum you call soldiers were killing innocents. Shooting arrows at a running kid for fun!"
The man began to laugh. " My soldiers wouldn't do that. You are a lying idiot, and you will be hanged in Solitude." So the commander told me as he rode off.
I spent the rest of the journey in silence, sometimes dozing off and looking at the scenery, trying to make my peace with the world.
" I am sorry, Neala... Unfortunately, I couldn't avenge you and our kids.." I murmured in sadness, reminiscing about my dead wife and kids.
As I looked up, I saw the silhouette of Solitude coming up in the distance. Merchants were making their way towards the city as well, carrying their goods.
We made our way past the first gate as I looked at the banners of the city. The flag was red with black stripes on it. And a white wolf was in the middle of it all. Then, finally, the cart was stopped, and a soldier grabbed me out of it. He dragged me along and pushed me forward a bit.
I proceeded to move towards the inner gate of the city. It was a large ornate gate with two wolf heads engraved in each door. Making our way into the city, I looked to my left to see an executioner stand. I sighed a little as that would be my final stop. As I looked to my right, I saw a tavern *the winking skeever* it said.
There were a few shops left and right and a marketplace buzzing with activity. The cities civilian population were looking at the soldiers and celebrating their victory. ' If only they knew what atrocities their proud soldier's committed.' I thought.
I was pushed towards a winding road up towards what I presumed were the city's barracks. The structure was imposing, to say the least. Brick walls surrounded a central plaza, in which an oblivion gate stood. The soldiers led me towards a door leading towards the city's prison. On my way down, I overheard a conversation.
" Good work legate Rikke! With this victory, we are at Ulfric's doorstep."
" Thank you, general Tullius. We caught a prisoner, he isn't stormcloack, but he fought our soldiers relentlessly."
" Good, I will interrogate him later."
I was pushed again before I could hear the ending of his sentence. Then, as I was lead down a spiral staircase, I was met with a significant prison hall with multiple cages.
The soldiers opened a jail, and I was violently pushed into it. After that, the gate was closed.
" Hold your arms out the bars, prisoner!"
The guard told me. As I did it, the soldier removed my shackles, and the guard left the room.
'Great.. just great! Imprisoned again, I need to find a way out of here. Well, at least Serana and the kid made their way out of there safely.' So I thought to myself as I banged my head on the prison bars.
Serana and the kid were walking down the main road in the city. The little boy grabbed her arm, which surprised her a little. She looked down at him and smiled. " Are you okay?" She asked him.
The boy looked up at her and smiled. " With you, here I am." That made Serana's heart flutter a bit. A human felt safe with her. A vampire granted he didn't know she was a vampire but still. It made her feel good that someone accepted her and trusted her.
" I am a bit hungry, though." The kid said as he twisted his thumb a little. Serana looked down at him with a warm smile.
" Why we can't have that? Can we let's get something to fill your little stomach." She said as she pinched his belly. The kid began to laugh a little as Serana tickled him. They made their way towards the market, and Serana bought him a slice of sweet roll.
As the kid was happily munching on his food, they made their way towards the Palace.
Once there, Serana was halted by a guard.
" Stop state your business."
Serana looked at the guard. " I have to speak to the jarl."
The man shakes his head. " No can do the jarl is busy now get out of here."
Serana glared a little before a smirk crossed her pretty face. She flipped her hair to the side as she got reak close to the guard and charmed him.
" Can I get in nowww?" She purred in his ear.
The guard's cheeks glowed a bright red as he opened the door for her.
" Thank youuu," Serana said excitedly.
Serana and the boy were greeted with a nicely decorated hall and a spiral stair leading toward an upper level. She and the boy made their way up the stairs. And she was greeted with the sight of a court busy in counsel.
She cleared her throat and addressed them.
" Excuse me, and I need to speak with the jarl."
The jarl looked up at Serana from her conversation. She was a red-haired woman her striking features made Serana not wanting me to meet her.
" I am busy in counsel. So you will have to wait."
The woman said as she shooed Serana away with a nonchalant hand.
" I really can't do that. So the matter is of great importance to me."
The jarl looked at Serana, annoyed.
" Fine, state your business."
Serana held the kid in front of her.
" My friend is wrongfully imprisoned here, and I came seeking Justice."
Serana managed to say with the most respective tone.
" How come your friend got imprisoned here. And I will be the judge if it's wrong or not." The jarl remarked as she looked at Serana, now more interested than before.
Serana cleared her throat as she began explaining why I was imprisoned.
After a while of explaining and a few shocked faces expressions on the faces of the Nobles. After hearing this, the jarl turned her attention to the boy.
" Is all this true little one."
The boy simply nodded as he hid behind Serana's leg.
" Then I got no choice. We have to release this man. And punish the ones responsible I won't tolerate the slaughter of my people."
Serana sighed in relief as she and the jarl made their way down toward the barracks.
I was fiddling with a piece of straw as I heard the door of the prison open. I could make out a few voices, one female scolding the general I heard previously.
" General Tullius, I don't condone the slaughter of innocent people. And from what I heard, the man you imprisoned tried to save them."
" I had no idea, jarl Eilisif, the people responsible will be punished."
As I looked up towards the location of the voices, I began to smile. I saw serana and two people, one man clad in imperial armor. He was an older guy with short gray hair. And a woman in luxury clothing with fair red hair and a beautiful face.
The older man commanded a guard to open my jail. And Serana pounced on top of me, hugging me tightly.
" You idiot, I thought you were done for. Don't ever do something like that again!"
I was surprised at her sudden affection as I slowly got out of the hug. However, it made me feel a bit uncomfortable as I was still conflicted about how I should feel towards her.
" I'm okay. Thanks for getting me out of this mess." Serana took a few steps back and turned her attention towards the general.
As she crossed her arms and looked at the man judgmental. The man began to break a sweat. " What is it?" He frantically said while he scratched his head.
" Your soldiers committed great atrocities in Riften. And that boy, how will he ever recover from this? He is homeless and has nothing left!" She lectured the imperial general. Finally, Jarl Eilisif made her way in between the two.
And she smiled at Serana reassuringly. " I will take care of the boy, now. Do you two need anything else?"
I perked up from my position. " Wel actually we are in search of a person of great interest. He is a moth priest and of grave importance to our cause."
They both were in deep thought as jarl Eilisif shook her head. The general, however, seemed to remember something. I looked at him hopefully as that would narrow down our search fastly.
" Actually, such a man has come by here, and he asked me for an imperial escort towards the mage college. As I remember correctly, they took the road through dragon bridge. If you two are fast, you could still catch them. They left just a day ago." The old general said.
I looked at Serana excitedly, which in turn smiled at me. " Thank you! That will narrow down our search so much. If I can get my gear back, we will be on our way."
A guard handed me my gear, and I swiftly put it on as I didn't want to miss the priest and end up looking for him again.
As we were about to say our goodbyes, jarl Eilisif stopped us. " Wait, I will send word to the stable. You guys can take two horses at my expense. See it as retribution for your misfortune."
Serana and I looked surprised but didn't turn down the gracious over. However, I didn't mention that I hated horse riding. It was the most uncomfortable thing imaginable.
After saying our goodbyes and Serana was glaring one more time at the unfortunate general. Which shifted a little under her judgmental gaze. After that, we made for the stables.
It wasn't a long walk with the mountains to our left and the city's view behind us. Then, finally, we walked down the sloped path towards the stables.
After talking to the stable boy, we got our hands on our two horses. I made sure I got the one that looked the most docile. Owh, how very wrong I was. Because after riding a while, the horse started to buck and kick. I tried holding on for dear life as the horse just seemed to go berserk.
" Whoa boy, whoa! AHHH." A loud thump was heard together with the shackle of my armor as I connected with the ground. And Serana's hysterical laughter filled the air.
" Uhm, excuse me, sir, you seem to have fallen from your horse. Do you need some assistance?" She said as she smirked at me with a wide grin.
I glared back at her, which made her grin even wider.
" What are you grinning at, huh? You think this is funny?" I replied as I got up and dusted myself off.
Serana laughed a little. " No, I wouldn't dare laugh at you! You are way too fearful!" She remarked as she made sure to put the effort in sounding as innocent as she could.
I sighed in defeat. " Could we just maybe switch horses? I don't think that one likes me so much." I said as I pointed at the horse, which was scrapping his hoof on the ground.
" Sure thing owh brave hero," Serana replied with a mischievous grin.
I rolled my eyes at her and approached her horse. However, serana didn't get off of it.
" What's the matter? get off," I said as I looked at her with a questioning gaze.
" Would you be so kind as to help me off? I can't get off on my own." She replied with an innocent smile.
" You really like to tease me a lot, don't you?" I asked her. She just smiled as she stuck her hands out to me, grabbing my shoulder. I grabbed her by the waist and helped her off, which got us real close to each other. She was so close now that I could smell an intoxicating sweet smell coming from her. It dazed me a little as I felt heat rise to my cheeks.
" What's the matter Dracar..." She purred in my ear as she flicked me on the nose. And walked towards the other horse, and I swear she was giving her hips an extra sway with each step.
I just stood there flustered at the whole ordeal gazing at her graceful movement. " You coming?" She said as I could see she was on her horse. So I got out of my daze and mounted mine.
I held on to the rein tightly and rode closer to her. All the while groaning, I felt really uncomfortable on the horse.
Serana gave me a puzzled look as she heard me groan and sigh. Then, as we rode into Dragon bridge, she spoke up.
" Okay, spit it out. Why are you groaning and whining like that?" She asked me as she gave me the same puzzled look.
I didn't want her to know, but her serious gaze made me feel obligated to tell her. And something told me that I wasn't going to get out of this conversation. As she raised her eyebrow at me again as to say *speak up*
" Okay, okay, when I was a kid, I used to love horses. But I didn't fare well when I first got on one. The blasted animal really didn't like me. The first part went really well when I got upon him until that stupid animal decided it was done with me. He bucked and jumped violently, and I lost grip of the rein. I was launched almost six feet in the air... That day I decided I would never ride a horse again." So I explained to her as I gripped my rein tighter. Serana began to laugh loudly, and I glared at her.
"It is not funny! That shit hurt like hell!" I exclaimed as I put my free hand in the air and made some gestures.
Serana just looked at me, amused content with the story, and she began to ride closer to me. And put her hand on mine that was holding the rein. I felt heat rise towards my cheeks again as she softened my grip on the bridle.
" You need to loosen your grip a little." She said softly as she gave me the sweetest smile. I could feel the horse relax a bit from its previous tense stature.
Without me realizing it, we were already halfway past the bridge. It was an excellent ornate bridge. Two dragon heads met in the middle of the bridge. I would almost call it beautiful if it weren't for me actually meeting the dangerous creatures in real life.
Serana nudged me out of my amazement and pointed towards a flipped carriage. " There is a cart laying there! But, shit, we are too late!" She yelled as she kicked her horse which galloped towards the carriage. I did the same, and soon we were both next to the carriage.
I got off my horse and investigated the scene, and two dead imperial soldiers were lying next to the carriage. And blood splattered all around it. I almost puked as I saw that one of them had greyish skin. He had been sucked dry.
Two feet from the soldiers lay another body. It was a vampire. I looked up at Serana. " We are too late..." I sighed in defeat, but then Serana pointed towards a trail of blood spatters going up the road.
"From what I can see, this scene is fresh; maybe if we follow that trail, we will be able to follow them." She remarked.
We got back up on our horses and got in a full gallop following the trail.
The trail led to a cave entrance, and I grimaced at the thought of a cave filled with vampires and their thralls waiting for us in it. Serana nudged me and spoke up. " You ready to go in."
I sighed. " Not really, but I think that with you with me, I will be okay."
That made Serana smile, and we proceeded to make our way into the cave. The cave was damp and wet, and the trademark iron stench of blood filled the cave. After we made our way through a series of narrow cavities. The cave opened up in a massive cavern with what seemed like an old fort smack in the middle. We stood atop a small lookout with stairs leading down a slope towards a bridge leading over a small creek.
I focused my eyes to see two pairs of glowing eyes hanging low to the ground. " Deathhounds," Serana remarked. " They are extremely dangerous, Dracar. Watch out for them."
" I know they killed a companion of mine while I was making my way towards your crypt," I replied as I unsheathed my crossbow.
I aimed to where a pair of golden eyes were and shot. A wail was heard as the dog fell down. The other one, however, noticed us and bolted towards us. Serana, with her superhuman speed, ran towards it and planted her knife in its throat.
I made my way towards her, and we sneaked across the bridge. We were making our way towards the entrance of the fort.
In the gateway stood two thralls. I pointed towards Serana's knife and made a gesture of slicing my neck. She nodded at me, and we sneaked over there, both grabbing one of the thralls and slashing their throats.
I really felt sorry for them as I was once in the same position. But we couldn't afford to alarm the vampires. So I scouted the inner courtyard, and after seeing there were no enemies, I gestured to Serana that we could move.
We made our way towards a tower and made our way up the spiral staircase. But alas, we were noticed by a scout standing up top.
We got in a fight with the vampire, Serana firing a bolt of lightning towards the vampire and me bolting up the stairs. As I got up, I stuck Nightbane in its stomach, Making quick work of the vampire.
We proceeded further upwards and were met with two vampires. And I could see the moth priest was enveloped with a strange ball of magic.
One of the vampires spoke up. " Ah, Serana and her human meat lump. How good of you two to join us! We were just about to seek for you and that scroll." The man hissed at Serana.
Serana scoffed at the vampire. " You couldn't even best me on your greatest day Malkus!" She yelled as she bared her fangs at him.
" You bitch!" Malkus yelled as he charged Serana. I wanted to help her but was put off guard by the other vampire shooting a lightning bolt at me.
I managed to block the bolt with Nightbane and charged the vampire. I glanced back at Serana to make sure she was alright. But she seemed to hold her own against the man.
The vampire in front of me caught my attention again as he shot a fire spell towards me. I grit my teeth as he burned my left arm. The searing feeling put me off guard as the vampire swept me off my feet with a quick kick.
It pounced on top of me, and I struggled to get it off me. Slamming my gauntlet in its skull didn't seem to help.
* Damn, this one is stronger than the others I fought.* I thought to myself as I struggled with this one superhuman strength.
Then serana shot a lightning bolt in the vampire's side, which made it roll off me. I looked towards her to see that Malkus used her distraction to pounce on top of her. However, I couldn't help her as the other vampire limped back on its feet.
We clashed swords, and I managed to get the upper hand. ** Fus** I shouted at the vampire to make it stumble back. After that, I swiftly stuck Nightbane in its head as I quickly turned around to aid Serana.
But what I saw horrified me Serana was tearing the flesh out of Malkus's neck with her bite. " You taste awful, Malkus." She said stoically as she got up from him.
She looked at me and her gaze changed as she saw my horrified expression. Then, she approached me, but I backed away a bit before regaining my posture.
" Are you okay?" I asked her trying my best to seem normal.
Serana uttered a simple yes as she notioned to a glowing stone. " I found this stone on him. I think we can use it to free the priest."
The stone glowed with a blue hue surrounding it. I looked around for a mechanism to put the glowing stone on its pedestal. Then, finally, seeing an altar atop a flight of stairs.
I proceeded to walk towards it, putting the stone on a pedestal. And after a little beam of blue light emitted from it, the ball of magic was dispelled, freeing the moth priest.
The man still seemed dazed and, in a blind rage, proceeded to attack Serana. " He is charmed! I could charm him, in turn, to calm him down."
" NO," I yelled back as I made my way towards the struggling duo.
I hit the man on the back of the head with my sword pummel. And after a while of waiting in uncomfortable silence, the man finally woke up.
" Wait, where am I ?" The man said, still a bit dazed. I looked at the man with a sympathetic smile.
" You are safe. My name is Dracar, and this is Serana. We came to find you." I replied. The man looked at me, puzzled.
" That's great.. my name is Dexicon Levitus. But, wait, girl, i-i-is that an elder scroll?!" The man stammered.
" Yeah, that is the reason we came to find you. We need you to transcribe the scroll for us. It is of great importance." I told the dazed man.
" I can't do it here. Do you have a safe place where I can study it?" He asked me.
I nodded. " Yeah, it's called fort Dawnguard, and there you will be safe to study the scroll. Do you know how to get there?"
" Yeah, I think I know the way!" The man replied as he hastily got up and, without a word, sprinted towards the exit. He was leaving both of us dumbstruck.
I looked at Serana which looked back at the ground. She was probably still angry at me for looking so horrified.
After a while, we, too, decided to get out of the cave.
After coming out of the cave, Serana and I got up on our horses and rode in an uncomfortable silence after a while. Then, finally, I decided to break the tense atmosphere.
" So, are you okay, Serana? Maybe we should find a place to sleep." I asked, looking at the black-haired woman. Her gaze turned towards the road. She just simply nodded.
We found a small village not too far away from Morthal. It was called Uthgard. And there were only a few houses and an inn. So we tied our horses down and made our way in the inn. Laughter and song filled the air as we came in, and the warm fire gave me a nice feeling. I walked towards the innkeeper and paid for accommodation and two meals. I sat down beside Serana and decided to relieve the tension between us.
" I am sorry, Serana, I shouldn't have looked at you the way I did," I said apologetically.
Serana sighed a little. "It's okay. I'm used to it." She said as she looked down at her plate. I shook my head and touched her arm.
" No, it is not. You saved me back there again... And I was just shocked, that is all... It's just because of my past. Don't let it get you down. I'm really sorry." I tried again.
She gave me a small smile. " No, really, it's okay, Dracar. I get it you fear me for what I am... I will try to be more considerate." She said in a low whisper. After that, she got up and asked the innkeeper for a separate room. As she walked in it, leaving me alone toying with my food, feeling like a massive cunt.
I decided it was best to try again tomorrow and went to my room as well.
** So guys, there you have it, chapter six.
Let me know what you think... It seems Dracar fucked up big time. Will Serana forgive him for this. And as always, let me know what you think. Even negative feedback is welcome, and it helps me grow as an aspiring writer; I still am learning a lot, and all feedback is welcome. See you guys in the next chapter. Have a good one**
