The sound of my gasps filled the otherwise silent room as I felt my life force returning to me. I slowly opened my eyes and met bloodred eyes staring back at me. A worried expression was plastered on her beautiful face as her wavy black hair flowed in front of my face. The familiar smell of sweet candy mixed with roses filled my nostrils. A slight blush crossed my cheeks as I noticed just how close Serana was to me.

A loud groan escaped my mouth as I tried to sit upright. I was unable to, however as I noticed that Serana was straddling me, her legs pushed tightly against my thighs. I felt heat rise to my groin as I felt her hips pushed up against it.

Her breath brushed my skin as goosebumps littered my skin. I felt a shiver go through my aching body as she inched ever closer.

"Serana...what are you..." I tried but was cut off by the feeling of her cold hands cupping my face softly, tracing my jaw with her fingers. I shivered at her touch as she pulled my face in closer.

Her warm breath touched my lips as her breathing was ragged and irregular. I felt my heartbeat race as her lips softly touched mine. They were so soft as she kissed me intently. She grabbed the back of my head to pull me in deeper as she deepened the kiss. Finally, I gave in to her as I parted my lips softly. Eagerly letting her in as our tongues wrestled each other, I softly grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to me as I softly traced my fingers along her back.

A soft moan escaped her lips as I caressed her. She softly began to grind on my groin, making me moan in return. She grabbed hold of my curly brown hair as I returned the favor and ground into her.

My mind began to cloud with excitement as feeling her tasting her filled my entire being with lust as our soft kissing turned into a ragged steamy makeout session. She then fell on her back, pulling me on top of her I flinched as my body was still sore from the fight. But quickly forgot about it as she once again ground against my groin. Her soft lips slowly parted from mine as she looked at me. Her eyes were hungry as she looked at me longingly. Biting her lip as her hands reached up towards me, her fingers softly tracing from my jaw down to my neck, shivers went down my spine as I locked eyes with her my eyes was filled with lust for the beautiful woman lying under me.

I was shaken out of the pleasant feeling by a feeling of hunger as my eyes were now focused on her neck. The sudden urge to bite her overwhelmed me like nothing I've felt before. I began to tremble as realization struck me a panicked expression crossed my feature.

"Serana, what did you do?!" I asked her in a panicked state, quickly distancing myself from the confused female vampire as I stood upright, looking at the female vampire with a questioning gaze. Serana tried to grab hold of me, but I slapped her hand away from me.

"Dracar, I had no choice..." Serana replied with a soft apologetic tone as her voice trembled.

My feet trembled as I fell to my knees. I slowly parted my lips as, with shaking hands, I felt sharp fangs now present in my mouth.

"Serana, I-I didn't want this..." I said. My voice trembled as I began to shake my head violently.

"Dracar, you were dying. I had NO choice!" Serana yelled. " I couldn't lose you! My heart could not have handled that."

"Serana, how could you ! You know what I think about your kind!" I replied as a feeling of betrayal filled my being. "YOU HAD NO RIGHT !"

Serana now stood up, tears in her eyes as she looked at me, distraught.

"WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO, HUH ?! SHOULD I HAVE LEFT YOU TO DIE?!" She screamed at me as she shook her head violently.

"YESS! I WOULDN'T WANT TO TURN INTO ONE OF YOUR KIND IF MY LIFE DEPENDENT ON IT." I yelled back at her as the feeling of anger and disbelief took hold of me.

**smack**

A red handprint formed on my cheek as Serana's hand connected with my face. All the anger left my being as I was dumbfounded at what had just happened. I slowly touched the side of my face as I felt it burn. I looked at her and saw a shaking woman in front of me. Tears flowed down her face as she looked at me with an angry expression.

"You fucking idiot...! don't you get it? I can't let you die... I can't let you die be-because I love you." She said as she continued to shake as her voice trembled and broke with every word she spoke. "I don't care if you are going to resent me for doing this! I can't lose you as well-you are all I have left Dracar..."

Her words repeated in my head. We just proceeded to stand there looking at each other in silence. A thousand thoughts crossed my mind, and before I knew it, my body closed the distance between us. My hands softly grabbed hold of the trembling vampire as I softly embraced her.

"I am sorry, Dracar... I can't lose you. My heart wouldn't be able to take it." Serana said as she sobbed and shook in my arms.

I thought back to my dead wife as flashes of her laughing face flashed through my mind. I felt as if I was betraying her, but I couldn't ignore the intense feelings I had gotten for the female vampire that was in my embrace. Turmoil filled my heart as a part of me wanted to kiss Serana again, and another part screamed at me to not betray my dead wife.

"Serana...I..." I tried to speak, but a lump in my throat prevented every sound from leaving my mouth.

Serana looked up at me. Her eyes seemed to study mine as she looked at me with a saddened expression.

"It's okay, Dracar... you don't have to say you feel the same." She softly spoke. Her voice was filled with disappointment. "I know how much your family meant to you, and I can't ask you to love me if your heart isn't ready."

I locked eyes with her as my mind screamed at me to grab her face, kiss her and tell her I loved her. But the memories about my family prevented my feelings from leaving my heart.

Serana then softly touched my face as she lovingly kissed my neck. Shivers went down my spine again as I hugged her tighter this act seemed to unravel my feelings.

"Serana...I.." I began, "I feel the same way about you, but I just can't give you my heart yet. It is all just too fresh... I will need time to process the loss of my family." I said as I softly caressed Serana's back. She nuzzled her face in my chest as she hugged me tighter.

"That's fine, Dracar. I can wait for you. Just please don't resent me for what I have done to you.." She replied, her voice barely audible.

"It's okay, and I understand I have the rest of eternity to make peace with this new reality," I replied with a sarcastic tone, softly brushing my fingers through Serana's black hairs.

She softly punched me.

"You ass."

We stood like this for a while, embracing each other before finally moving away from each other.

_

The jetty rocked softly on top of the waves as the silhouette of Volkihar castle grew smaller on the horizon. Serana and I were sitting in the small boat in silence as the dim light of the moons reflected on the water illuminating our faces. It wasn't long before we reached the coastline. A slight feeling of hunger resided within me. I couldn't say I liked the feeling, but it was part of my reality now. At least I was alive as flashes of that God-awful fight flashed before my mind. If things had turned out only slightly different, we wouldn't have made it out alive. I glanced over at Serana which seemed to be gazing out into the distance. She had the second scroll strapped on her back.

I began to ponder at how Serana had gotten out so fast. The last thing I remembered was killing the dragon, and the next moment I was back in Valerica's study having a steamy moment with Serana.

"Say Serana, how did you get out of the soul Cairn so fast? Last I remembered, those abominations surrounded us." I remarked Serana turned her attention towards me as she smiled softly.

"Well, I wouldn't have made it in time if it wasn't for some unexpected help." She replied.

I quirked my eyebrow at her as a confused expression crossed my face.

"What kind of unexpected help?" I asked her, wondering what miracle helped us out of that mess.

Serana chuckled.

"You probably aren't going to believe me if I told you." She said with a mysterious tone.

I began to get agitated.

"Speak woman by the divines," I exclaimed.

Serana looked at me with an amused expression before she continued. She was taking pleasure out of my confused state.

"Well, remember that dragon that almost killed you?"

I nodded. "What about him?"

"Well, he offered to help us but on only one condition that you grant him the chance to fly in the skies above Tamriel again. " She replied as she grinned, waiting for my reaction. She got just what she was waiting for as my jaw dropped open.

"You are speaking of that undead mess of rotten flesh!? I would be a fool to unleash that abomination into this world! No, no, no, and besides that, how do I even do that ?" I said with disbelief evident in my tone, waving my hands in a disagreeing fashion. I grimaced at the thought of seeing that thing again. It was almost as terrifying as that humongous black menace threatening the world.

"Dracar, I made a promise. If it weren't for that dragon, your soul would be doomed to roam the soul Cairn for the rest of eternity. You owe it at least a small favor." Serana scolded me. Her voice was stern and commanding.

I sighed in defeat as I lowered my head, dismayed at what was going to happen. She was once again correct, but I was not too fond of it.

"Fine. How do I summon him." I spoke with a defeated tone in my voice.

"You have to shout its name, and he will appear. At least that's what he told me." Serana explained. "I believe his name was Durnehviir."

My stomach twisted and twirled as I really didn't want to do this. I had walked to a clearing as I wasn't sure what the shout would do. I glanced over at Serana with a pleading expression. Serana inturn shook her head in refusal as she urged me to get on with it.

"I don't break my promises Dracar, get on with it."

I once again sighed in defeat as I grimaced at the thought of seeing that dragon again.

** Dur neh viir **

To my surprise and horror, the dragon seemed to materialize out of thin air in front of me. I took a few steps back as I instinctively unsheathed my sword. The now materialized dragon turned its head to look at me.

"Ah, Qahnaarin, you have survived. I am delighted to see you again after our battle. Thank you for keeping your partners promise." Durnehviir spoke up, slowly stretching its wings.

"I thought you were dead?" I replied

"Cursed, not dead. Doomed to exist in this form for eternity. Trapped between laas and dinok, between life and death." It replied as its voice sounded shrieky.

"How did you end up in a place like the Soul Cairn?" I asked, intrigued as to how a dragon could get into a position like him.

"There was a time when I called Tamriel my home. But those days have long since passed. The dovah roamed the skies, vying for their small slices of territory that resulted in immense and ultimately fatal battles." It started to explain as it paced around a bit.

"Were you a part of those fatal battles ?"

"I was. But unlike some of my brethren, I sought solutions outside the norm to maintain my superiority. I began to explore what the dovah call "Alok-Dilon," the ancient forbidden art that you call necromancy." It continued.

"So you sought the Soul Cairn for answers?" I asked, quite intrigued.

"The Ideal Masters assured me that my powers would be unmatched, that I could raise legions of the undead. In return, I was to serve them as a Keeper until the death of the one who calls herself Valerica." It spat out his voice filled with anger, and I could almost detect a hint of sadness.

"I suppose they forgot to mention Valerica's immortality?" I questioned the dragon.

"I discovered too late that the Ideal Masters favored deception over honor and had no intention of releasing me from my binding. They had control of my mind, but fortunately, they couldn't possess my soul." It spoke as the dragon seemed to lower his head in shame.

"Is that why you're free now?" I said as I raised an eyebrow.

"Free? No. I have been in the Soul Cairn too long, Qahnaarin. The Soul Cairn has become a part of what I am. I could never fully call Tamriel my home again, or I would surely perish. I only hope that you will allow me the precious moments of time here through your call." Durnehviir asked me, his tone filled with a hopeful tone.

"We will see about that. You have to promise me something first, and why do you call me 'Qahnaarin?'" I asked, intrigued as the meaning of the word was unknown to me.

"In my language, the Qahnaarin is the Vanquisher, the one who has bested a fellow dovah in battle. Speak your demands. I am willing to make any deal to roam the skies of vus again." He almost uttered out in blind desperation.

"First of all, when I summon you, you aren't allowed to attack any humans. Second of all, if I am in trouble and I call upon you, you will fight with us. " I demanded.

"Qahnaarin, it would be an honor to fight side by side with such a worthy ally. As for the humans, you needend worry as my only wish is to fill my lungs with the air of vus again and roam the skies flying aimlessly around this beautiful world that is my only wish." Durnehviir said, bowing its head to me. "I will even teach you a new shout the next time you summon me, but if you will excuse me, Qahnaarin time is running short, and I want to feel the air under my wings again as I sore across this realm."

I nodded and tracked the dragon with my eyes as it took flight. It was roaring loudly as he flew out of sight.

Serana walked over to me as she softly touched my shoulder.

"That was a good thing you did, Dracar." She said as she too watched the dragon fly off into the distance.

"I hope so. I will never forgive myself if he kills an innocent person. " I remarked, gazing at the spot where the dragon materialized.

"He will keep his word, Dracar, and you are the only one that can grant him his wish. It would be foolish of him to break his promise with you." Serana spoke up, clearly confident in the deal I struck with the dragon. "Owh and Dracar, you are handsome commanding a dragon. 'So powerful, " Serana purred in my ear, which made me shiver.

I decided it would be fun to mess with Serana a bit as a mischievous smile crossed my lips. I quickly turned around to face the female vampire *here comes payback.* I thought to myself as I inched closer to a now flustered female vampire.

Serana yelped as I swiftly grabbed Serana's arms and held them locked tightly behind her back as I pushed my chest firmly against hers. Inching my face closer to hers, I smirked as Serana's face turned a bright red. I softly brushed a few strands of black hair away from her ear, ensuring my voice was as low and husky as possible.

"Hmmm, is that so? Good to know." I whispered, making sure my breath touched her ear. A smirk grazed my face as I felt her shiver.

I then quickly let her go and turned around, walking away as nothing had happened. I was leaving a very flustered vampire standing behind me.

"Are you coming ? We need to get this scroll back to castle dawnguard. " I said as nothing had happened.

"I? uh... I- yess I am coming." Serana said, barely able to speak.

_

A soft, cold breeze grazed my face as slowly the silhouette of solitude came into view. A few glints of yellow light were glowing on the horizon, illuminating the giant pine trees with an orange glow as dawn was encroaching on the land. Banishing the darkness of night away, long shadows of the trees and rocks were cast on the ground as the sound of birds singing their morning song grazed our ears. The soft cracking sound of snow being flattened by our feet was just barely audible.

Skyrim was waking up to a new dawn.

Generally, in a time like this, I would have taken off my helmet. But due to my new 'situation,' the beams from the sun hurt me, although the feeling was minimal. It was uncomfortable and annoying enough for me to keep my helmet on. Not that it helped, as it didn't spare me from the awkward feeling. It felt as if the sun drained me from my life force. I could almost sympathize with Harkon.

"Say Serana, why did you not side with your father?" I asked Serana, trying to start a conversation to distract me from the awful feeling.

Serana looked at me with a quirked eyebrow as she crossed her arms like saying, 'what are you on about.

"Well, that should be obvious, Dracar. He is, you know ''evil'' and I am just a plaything for him, a pawn. Why do you ask?" Serana said with a confused tone.

"Well, now that I am a vampire, I feel what you feel, and that sun is obnoxious. Like how do you deal with it? I can barely focus, it feels like it drains me, and I feel weaker." I proclaimed, squinting my eyes as the sun grew brighter with every passing minute.

Serana looked at me with a serious expression as she sighed.

"Well, that is because you haven't fed yet..." she explained.

My stomach twisted and twirled at this remark as the thought of me feeding of an innocent person almost made me puke.

"You mean I have to feed to feel normal again... You know I am not going to do that right." My voice was filled with adversity as just the thought of it made me feel sick.

"You have to Dracar... Or else you will go feral like that vampire we encountered in the crypts," Serana said with a remorseful tone.

I began to panic at this fact.

"Can't I just feed from you? like you did with me?!"

Serana shook her head as she looked at me with an apologetic smile.

"That won't work, Dracar, and a vampire can't get sustenance from another vampire... if that were the case, we wouldn't have to keep human cattle." Serana replied as her eyes averted from mine.

This was a big problem for me. Being a vampire was already a big no-go for me. Sadly I didn't have a choice. But to also hurt innocent people was out of the question. I could never do something like that. My principles wouldn't allow it. Bedsides that what if we are found out and have to fight our way out? That way, I wouldn't be any better than Harkon.

My mind raced as this dilemma wasn't something so easily overcome. Serana noticed my emotional state and closed the distance between me.

"I know this is very hard for you, but you have to if you want to keep your sanity..." she softly spoke up.

"Hard for me? Serana, this is out of the question I refuse to do it." I replied, "There must be a way to avoid this?!"

Serana sighed as she looked at me with a troubled expression.

"What do you propose? There isn't a cure for being a vampire, you know." She remarked her voice sounded stern.

"Don't you know a vampire that has some blood laying around? I refuse to feed from a human being; Serana, I want you to understand that." I remarked urgently.

Serana shook her head as she rubbed her forehead.

"There is one that I know of which isn't far from here. But I need you to promise to be discrete." Serana finally spoke up.

I nodded as I followed Serana, which took a turn towards the docks of solitude. The docks were bustling with life fishermen were hauling their baskets filled with fish as they engaged in trivial conversation with each other. A few merchants praised their goods from their stalls. As dockworkers were unloading large barrels of goods and commodities, large cranes hoisted the bigger cargo of board overseen by imperial guards. A band of children clothed in rags stole a few apples and made a run for it. I chuckled as the stall keeper chased them but was tripped by a kid, making him fall from the dock in the cold ocean. The kids laughed for a bit before making a quick escape.

We proceeded to walk up the sloping path leading up to the capital. To our right was a small farmhouse with a windmill. A stable boy was playing with his dog as the rest of the workers carried hay to the stables. A messenger delivered a few letters to the landlord before hurrying on to his next delivery.

After turning to our right, we were met with the first defensive line of the city. It was a small gatehouse with a tower to the right. Two soldiers stood guard. Their armor and shields bore the sigil of a wolf. As they eyed us suspiciously, but lucky for us, they let us through. As I looked up in front of me, the main gate was coming closer. The large walls of the city seemed to be reasonably defendable as archers patrolled the wall, its crenellations made for ideal spots to pick off enemies attacking the walls.

Making our way through the gate and past the winking skeever, I made a mental note to visit the place as the smell of something delicious being cooked in there filled my nostrils.

It wasn't long before we walked past the imperial headquarters and the market where merchants were busy selling their wares. Compared to the rest of Skyrim, Solitude was way more sophisticated than the rest and seemed more like an imperial city. Even the architecture was more Cyrodillic.

Making our way through the large crowds of people, a magnificent building came into view. Its roof was adorned with bright blue roof tiles, which reflected the sunlight making me squint my eyes as the uncomfortable feeling returned.

I wondered where Serana thought this vampire would be. Surely it resides in a place like that. That would be a death sentence. My curiosity got the better of me as I looked over to Serana.

"Serana, what would a vampire possibly do here." I finally asked in a curious tone.

Serana turned to look at me as she quirked her eyebrow at me.

"What? Don't you think a vampire can live in a place like this?" She replied with a curious tone.

"Well, if I think about vampires and their lairs. A bustling city doesn't come to mind if that is what you mean. A palace seems even more unlikely. " I replied.

Serana looked at me with an agitated expression.

"You really are ignorant Dracar, most of us aren't feral bloodsucking beasts that prefer exile and preying on innocents. Most of us live a normal life and want to exist peacefully alongside humans. At least until we are found out and hunted..." Serana replied with a saddened tone.

"That wasn't what I was implying, Serana. It's just you never hear from a vampire peacefully coexisting with humans." I said as I tried my hardest not to offend Serana.

"Well, that's because we try our hardest not to get found out. Until one of us has a slip-up and gets killed simply for what we are..." serana replied, her gaze was filled with remorse and anger. "But to answer your question, when I was here pleading for your life to be spared, I sensed a vampire in the court. I presume it is the court wizard, but I am not sure."

Once again, I was plagued by an unholy feeling of hunger. It terrified me to the core as my eyes began to dart, searching for a meal I could only barely contain myself when I smelled the scent of blood. As my eyes focused on a kid that tripped on the cobblestone ground.

Serana seemed to notice this and looked at me with a severe expression.

"Are you okay?" She said as worry filled her voice.

"I... am! Can we just quickly find this vampire? This insatiable hunger is killing me." I growled through gritted teeth as it took all my willpower to keep me from pouncing on that boy.

We quickly made our way to the main entrance of the blue palace. A guard stopped us but was quickly persuaded by Serana as she charmed him.

Once inside, we were greeted by a beautiful court hall. The walls were adorned with beautiful artwork. A red carpet led up toward two winding staircases leading up towards the Jarls throne room.

Once there, we were greeted by the Jarls housecarl. His colossal stature surprised me. This man was a giant. He was clad in ebony guard armor adorned with golden stripes and the emblem of a wolf on his chest plate. As strains of red hair flowed from under his helmet. He looked at us with a stern expression.

"State your business, citizens! Jarl Eilisif isn't expecting visitors." His hoarse Nord voice commanded.

I wanted to speak but was cut off by Serana.

"My friend here has contracted a rare magical sickness... We are looking for your court wizard. We really need some help." Serana said in a most urgent tone.

"He doesn't look sick. Remove his helmet so we can see." The housecarl commanded. I panicked a bit at this cause if they would remove my helmet, they would see what I am.

I looked over at Serana as my heart rate raced but was surprised to see her nod as she calmly removed my helmet. I awaited the coming reaction from the housecarl but was surprised as he took a few steps back, looking at me with a worried expression.

"That looks awful! I will get Sybill at once! for now, you can proceed towards the jarl but keep your distance!" The man yelled as he quickly ran through a door to the left of us.

I was dumbfounded as I looked at Serana with a surprised expression.

"How can they not see what I am?" I asked her, perplexed at the Nords reaction.

Serana smirked as she mystically twirled her fingers.

"Illusion magic does wonder, my dear Dracar." She purred softly, touching my cheeks.

We made our way further in the hall and were met with a surprised Elisif. And members of the court who were busy discussing politics.

"Owh, it's you two! How have you two be- by the divines, what happened to him?!" Jarl Elisif said as a horrified expression graced her features.

Gasps erupted through the crows as they all noticed me.

"What abomination did you turn me into, Serana?" I whispered as I nudged the female vampire, which could barely contain her laughter. I made a mental note to get back at her for this torture.

"Whatever do you mean, Dracar? To me, you still look like that stunning man you always were." Serana purred as she looked at me with a cheeky smile.

"God woman, you are a deadra in disguise." My remark made it even harder for Serana to contain her laughter as she shook slightly.

"My friend here contracted a rare magical sickness. We could use the help of your court wizard." Serana finally replied to the Jarl which nodded in agreement holding her hand in front of her mouth, preventing her from puking.

I watched the display with a slightly agitated expression as Serana was having way too much fun out of my misery.

Finally, a door opened, and a robbed figure and the Jarls housecarl came walking through it.

"Sybill, please tend to this man. He has contracted an awful disease. You need to help him." Jarl Elisif commanded as she turned her gaze from me quickly.

The hooded woman looked at me with a quirked eyebrow as she inspected my features. She gazed over at Serana and then back at me before leading us to her laboratory. She locked the door behind her making sure nobody was coming in the room as she removed her hood.

"So what do you two want? I seclude myself from vampires for a reason." She spoke sternly as she looked at us both.

"We are sorry to bother you, but my friend here was turned recently and refuse to feed on humans. I don't want him to go feral. Can you provide him with some blood?" Serana asked politely.

Sybill paced around her room, occasionally glancing over to us.

"And why do you think I intend to help you?" Sybill responded.

"Well, because you are a good person. Otherwise, you would have aligned yourself with a vampire covenant." Serana replied stoically, pointing out the obvious.

"That is true, but why does your friend refuse to feed himself as he turned unwillingly?" Sybill responded, narrowing her eyes at Serana before turning her attention on me. "Turning an unwilling human, how stupid can you be."

Serana lowered her head as she looked towards the ground. I noticed the animosity the older female vampire had for Serana and decided to rectify the situation.

"It isn't that simple, I was dying, and she saved my life. I refuse to hurt innocent people. She didn't have any bad intentions. It's just my principles. It isn't her fault. I am thankful." I replied to Serana's defense

Sybill scoffed as she strode around.

"Bagh! She must have charmed you."

"I would never! Can you please just help him!" Serana spoke up as her voice filled with anger.

"Fine. But you get only three vials. After that, you have to fend for yourself. You will either have to live with your new reality or find a cure which is impossible." Sybill scoffed as she handed me a pouch with vials filled with blood-red liquid.

The insatiable hunger plaguing me took over, and before I knew it, I downed an entire vial in one swift gulp. A feeling of disgust came over me, but I was overwhelmed by the overpowering sense of strength and power filling my being. I felt rejuvenated as my skin felt warmer, and as I looked in the mirror, I saw my greyish skin turn back to a healthy color.

"Now that I helped you two get out of here and never come back. As I said, I avoid other vampires for a reason." Sybill said sternly as she unlocked the door.

I gladly obliged as I was still contemplating what I had just done and how it went against all my principles.

We made our way through the halls, and without saying goodbye to the Jarl, we headed into the city again.

Mixed feelings went through my head as I was relieved that I felt better but was disgusted at drinking human blood. My only solace was that I could spend a lot more time with the female vampire. But the daunting feeling of betraying my morals by feeding on another human terrified me.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice Serana talking to me. Only after feeling her hand on my shoulder, I turned around.

"Dracar, are you okay?" Serana said with a caring tone. I turned to look at Serana with a saddened expression.

"I don't think I can do this, Serana, being a vampire that is..."
