Chapter 3: New Life, New Car
Calypso really did speak the truth about what was going on here in Blackfield, things were a total mess and there were signs of a flame brewing somewhere within the complex. He didn't say a word as he kept silent to let his message sink in before the trio soon found themselves in a parking lot outside where a helicopter had just touched down onto the pavement for the TM host to hop aboard. It was at this moment where he broke the silence to address Vincent on what would happen next.
"I have nothing else to say Mr. Monroe, you saw everything you needed to know and now you stand at the edge of two paths that have an end. The first is that you take my offer and fight for the truth which will change everything. The second is where you go back into the world and fade into obscurity - if the police haven't caught you within weeks of your escape, but at least you and your dear friend can live knowing you're both back in the real world where it's safe, right? So, what will your final choice be?"
The decision was easy, considering the fact that Vincent compartmentalized everything and rationalized the quest he wanted to undertake. There was a moment where he looked at Connie for some sign of approval from her, and despite her hesitant expression, she gave a careful nod to him for the journey the two would soon embark on.
"I'll do it. What's the next step for me?" Vincent said with conviction in his words.
Calypso reached into a pocket and pulled out a set of keys with a devilish smile playing across his face, later tossing them to the fresh faced contestant for him to catch from midair. "Your own entry vehicle of course! You have three options to choose from, so pick wisely." He said before pointing towards three other vehicles stationed on the lot, not bothering to stick around as he quickly made his way towards the heli and boarded it.
"Good luck you two, you'll need it!" With those last words, the helicopter took off and left both Vincent and Connie to figure out where to go from there.
The first was an orange modern looking muscle car that seen some scrapes here and there before being converted into a suitable killing machine. It featured armor built into certain sections of its body including two heavy chainguns strapped to the front end where the fenders are located, several parts such as the windows have been swapped out for better protection in the main cabin of the vehicle but overall it seemed to be well rounded for the competition, it looked like a '09 Ford Mustang GT from what Vincent was able to recognize.
The second car had a more regal look to it, carrying a large twin barreled turret built into the passenger side window whereas the driver side was left untouched. Its body seemed more hardy than the previous car due to most if not all of it being layered in metal on metal while still retaining the appearance that it can go from 0 to 60 in just about 3 seconds, even with a pair of heavy metal rods wielded into the front and rear bumpers. Connie immediately pointed out that this was definitely a messed up one of a kind '01 BMW E64 M3 based on the iconic yet disfigured front end and dual exhausts, the girl certainly knew her cars after being around him for so long.
The final one was a rather twistified version of a '94 Toyota Supra with the main defining feature being a long hi-cal turret stretching past the passenger side of the vehicle, ending just above the front fender with a catch bolted onto the barrel to keep the weapon on target as a belt fed ammunition into it from the trunk. There was almost no armor on the thing so it screamed high risk/high reward for anyone daring enough to drive it.
At the end of their extensive inspection of all 3 cars, the two took a moment to consider their options. They didn't expect to take up so much time here but Calypso had already set the stakes high for the duo to be rather careful about things moving forward.
"I'm kinda leaning towards this one Vince. Muscle cars are pretty tough already, and two big guns are hard to beat.." Connie said as she took up a seat on the hood, later crossing a leg over another with a smile on her face as she watched Vincent knock on the metal armor that encased the BMW.
"That's because this one would be too heavy to make the most of all... this. And don't even get me started on that barebones sports car." Something about this was off, did Calypso intentionally customize these cars in such a way that only one was going to be effective in combat? He wasn't sure but his rudimentary knowledge on this subject led him to believe it'd be best to stick with the car that Connie picked.
"I guess we'll use that one, seeing as its the safe bet to make here." His words made Connie cry out in joy as she hopped off and quickly went over to give him a tight hug.
"Yes! Now come on, come on! I wanna get out of here and head back into the city already!" This in turn made Vincent chuckle at her words and finally open up the doors to the mustang, later getting comfortable in his seat before sliding the key into the ignition and twisting it. Its motor quickly came to life with an aggressive sounding growl that demanded the owner to treat it with respect, and not long after, roared with activity as Vincent floored it out of the asylum's parking lot to then break through a fence gate on the way out from the compound.
