A/N Happy Belated New Year's my lovely readers! Here's the chapter that should've been uploaded a while ago but wasn't because my time management is shit. Oh, Mirio refers to Tamaki as Maki-Boy and Tamaki calls Mirio 'Mario' because nicknames are cute :D

Tamaki paced around the room in panic. Let's explain the situation.

Last year at exactly 12:00 am, 1st of January, Tamaki and Nejire became a couple. Pretty cliché, right? There's currently only a week before New Year's Day, which means that there's only a week before their 1-year anniversary. And- you guessed it- Tamaki has no idea what to get Nejire.

'Nejire is absolutely unpredictable! That makes this whole thing 500x harder than it was before... maybe I should ask Mario?'

Yup he was panicking. Asking Mirio what type of present Nejire would want was absurd.

'Or maybe I could ask Mario to ask Nejire what type of present she would like? That's a great idea! Great job Tamaki. And now you're praising yourself. Woo-hoo.'

Ever since Nejire and him got together, Tamaki has shown more confidence as Nejire would pull him by the ear whenever he talked bad about himself. She promised him that if anyone insulted him, she would teach them a lesson. Tamaki himself was no exception.

Making his mind up, Tamaki stopped pacing around his room and marched down to Mirio's room.

"The door's unlocked Maki-Boy!" Tamaki heard Mirio's muffled voice and kicked open the door... literally.

"Maki-Boy what the actual fu-" Tamaki cut Mirio off.

"INeedYouToDoAFavourForMe" Tamaki said it so quickly it didn't even sound like a sentence.

Mirio blinked. Tamaki blinked. Mirio blinked again.

"Okay what?" Mirio raised his eyebrow, breaking the comical silence.

"I said, I need you to do a favour for me." Tamaki replied in a slower and more understandable tone, almost like he was talking to a toddler.

"Of course I will! Let me guess, you want me to ask Hadou-Chan what she wants as a gift because you have no idea what to get her." Mirio stated.

"How did you-" Now it was Tamaki's turn to get cut off.

"Bros always know what the other is thinking Maki-Boy. Honestly. Anyway I promise to get your answer by Friday!" He promised, a determined look on his face.

"F-Friday?! But Friday's in 2 days! How will you get Nejire's opinion by Friday? You know how she is..." Tamaki exclaimed, not expecting it so soon, since today was indeed a Wednesday.

"Well you need the weekends to get her the gift since New Year's is on Tuesday." Mirio mentioned while rolling his eyes at his best friend's poor memory.

"Bu-" Tamaki was once again cut off. Poor child.

"Oh~ look at the time. It's already 10:38 pm. We need to get up nice and early for training tomorrow so off to bed Maki-Boy!" Mirio changed the topic.

Tamaki rolled his eyes at his brother's antics and walked to the door, not bothering to fix it.

||||~~~~||||~~~~Friday~~~~||||~~~~||||

Tamaki heard a repetitive knock on his door and immediately knew who it was.

"Mario, what does she want?" Tamaki asked while opening the door.

"She said she wants a…an animal keychain. And…she also said that she wants…some jewellery too!" Mirio panted out as he stepped inside the house, seemingly he ran here.

"Alright then! I'll get some jewellery for her and you can get an animal keychain." Tamaki said after thinking for a bit.

"Please explain to me why I need to get her something." Mirio asked while raising his eyebrow.

"Well you did ask her right? Won't it be weird if you ended up not getting her anything?" Tamaki scolded lightly.

"Yeah you're right...well bye Maki-Boy I actually have to go check on Eri-Chan!" Mirio waved a goodbye as he walked out of the house, this time actually taking his keys.

||||~~~~||||~~~~Monday (11:50 pm)~~~~||||~~~~||||

So Tamaki is doing exactly what he was doing when we started this chapter, pacing around his scarcely decorated room. Except this time Mirio was there too to offer support.

"Mario, what if Nejire doesn't like the gift I got her?" Tamaki asked, again.

"Dude! That's the 57th time you asked me that! And yes I did count." Mirio facepalmed at how nervous the boy was. "Look, Maki-Boy. She's going to love the gift you got for her. It's Hadou-Chan we're talking about, you know she'll love any gift that comes from the heart." Mirio calmed Tamaki and put a hand on his shoulders.

Tamaki smiled softly but gratefully.

"Thanks, Mirio." Tamaki thanked.

"TAMA-KUN OPEN THE DOOOOOORRRR!" And you know who that was right?

"Nejire there's a key under the mat." Tamaki sighed. Ok his nerves were bundled again.

'But no joke...what if she doesn't like it?'

Mirio, sensing Tamaki's thoughts, put a hand on Tamaki's shoulder and gave one of his infamous grins.

Tamaki smiled back at him and turned his head as he saw Nejire enter their house.

"Guys! Look what I got for you~!" Nejire sang in a cheerful tone.

"Hadou-Chan! You have to wait until New Year's starts. Don't tell me you forgot." Mirio held his hand out in a stop motion as Tamaki chuckled.

She puffed her cheeks out in an adorable manner before taking out her phone.

"Hey guys~ let's do a countdown to New Year's!" She suggested, showing them her phone which showed a countdown.

They all grinned at each other.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!" They all screamed in unison (yes even Tamaki).

"Now then, Tama-Kun, Togata-Kun, look at what I got you! Please~" Then Nejire did what the boys called her biggest weapon; the puppy dog eyes.

"Alright then! Me first!" Mirio shouted in excitement. Nejire laughed at that before handing over a yellow box.

He got a manga set. The full set of Fushigi Neko no Kyuu-chan.

"Omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg! Thank youuu Hadou-Chan!" Mirio's enthusiasm startled Tamaki who was standing at a too close distance from the hyper, jumping blonde. He slowly inched away.

"You're welcome Togata-Kun!" The two then shared a big hug. With Tamaki in the background, sweat-dropping at his friends' antics.

"I've always wanted this, it seemed so cute!" Mirio and Nejire finally let go of each other.

"Glad you liked it! Your turn Tama-Kun. Open it! I'm sure you'll love what I got you." Nejire claimed with her head held high. Tamaki's eye twitched unnoticeably.

'Tell me why I'm friends with them again?'

He took hold of the box shrouded in black paper and tried to stifle a chuckle at the poor wrapping skill. Mirio was so focused on ripping it apart to get to the needed part that he completely overlooked the unique packaging. But what was inside made up for the gift-wrap.

Tamaki's mouth fell open in shock and his eyes sparkled with happiness as he looked up at his girl. It was a silver ring with a butterfly moulded at the top with intricate designs.

"You're right. I love it."

Just those simple words brought a large grin to Nejire's features. Tamaki returned the smile with equal amounts of enthusiasm and even signalled her to come embrace him.

As expected, Nejire jumped straight into his arms. Tamaki encircled his arms around her waist tightly and felt a familiar warmth spread in his chest when she rested her head in the curve of his neck.

It was a nice, quiet moment. A break from all the noise and excitement of New Year's. Well, that was until they heard a clicking sound.

The two lovers immediately whipped their heads in the direction of the sound. Of course, it was Mirio holding a camera directed at them.

"…Right, so when you two were getting all lovey-dovey I rushed upstairs to get your presents that aren't wrapped and instead stuffed in two gift bags because I was lazy." He told them with his hands waving about. That was also when they finally noticed the two bags on the table that weren't there before.

"Yay!" Nejire exclaimed, letting go of her boyfriend and running to the bags. "Which one is mine?" She referred to the two different coloured carriers. They were both notably small.

"The blue one." Mirio answered.

"Oh, what's this, what's this?" She asked while shaking the small box after taking it out of the bag. Before any of the two men could answer she wrenched the lid open and marvelled at the cute thing in her hands.

"AWWWW IT'S SO CUTE!" Nejire screamed while staring at the squishy keychain. The actual chain was thick and a metallic gold colour. The squishy was a plump, pink rabbit with small ears, limbs and a poker face. It was holding a cup of green tea in one paw.

"Thank you, Togata-Kun!" She gave yet another tight embrace to the taller man.

"Alrighty Maki-Boy. Your turn." They both turned to the slightly scared boy and Mirio shook the present threateningly.

Tamaki gave a nervous chuckle and opened the box. Once again, he was surprised.

"Woah. Just Woah." Tamaki muttered as he saw the familiar outline of a butterfly. The butterfly's wings had a detailed design and was on a keychain. And on the keychain, there was also the letter T, for his name, Tamaki.

"Man you guys keep surprising me today…My presents are nothing compared to yours." Tamaki said. He meant it to be a compliment, but Nejire and Mirio were offended.

"How dare you say something like that! Tama-Kun I'm sure your gift is one of the best I'll ever get!" Nejire told him, brows furrowed. Mirio furiously nodded his head in agreement.

"Now hand over our presents so we can prove you wrong with our amazing reactions!" He said, looking around the room to spot where the two gifts were placed.

"Uh- Okay then…" Tamaki took out two elegantly wrapped boxes and handed one of them to Mirio.

Mirio opened up the box to find a book with a dark green cover which said in bold white, "101 Dad Jokes". It may have been something simple, but Mirio was beyond pleased.

"Thanks for giving me 101 more jokes to tell in class! Oh Kami, I'm going to annoy the fuck out of you guys." He cackled mischievously and held the book up to the ceiling.

Tamaki slightly regretted his choice but was relieved at how happy Mirio looked.

"Me next, me next!" Nejire chimed cutely, holding her hands out.

"O-Oh. Right. Yes, here!" He silently gulped, handing over the present. 'Will she like it?'

'Poor guy is drowning in nerves.' Mirio thought.

They both watched as Nejire opened the gift, one more anxious than the other. They then heard a loud gasp from Nejire.

It was a heart locket. There was a smaller heart in the middle and outlining it was a complex but beautiful design. There was a pink rose on the left side of the smaller heart, and the words 'I Love You' on the right side.

Nejire's eyes sparkled in amazement, "Oh my God, it's so pretty! Tamaki how much did this even cost?!" She asked him.

"…150,000 yen (£962.55, CAD $1651.50, USD $1363.80 and €1120.65)." Both Nejire and Mirio gasped when they heard the amount. Mirio inconspicuously glared at Tamaki.

This was what he was worried about. Tamaki mentally prepared for the amount of scolding he'll be getting from Mirio after all of this is over.

"Th-That much for me? But why?" She was genuinely confused about how much money he was willing to spend on her.

"If it wasn't obvious before, then read what the locket says."

Nejire looked at the silver locket that bared the words 'I Love You'. She was so moved that her eyes began watering. She really chose a great guy, didn't she?

"There's a photo inside, open it." Tamaki said.

Inside the locket was a photo of them on their first date, courtesy of Mirio from behind the bushes. They both had smiles on their faces and donned warm clothing to protect them from the frosty winds of December. Around that time, Tamaki was still courting Nejire and a few weeks later they had gotten together.

Nejire was so overcome with emotion that the tears slowly gathering in her periwinkle eyes finally fell. She ran into Tamaki's arms and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you, I-I love it! I'm never gonna take it off!" She sniffled. Tamaki placed a comforting arm around her shoulders and cast a glance at Mirio.

Mirio gave him a thumbs up and had a smug smile on his face.

'Told you she would like it.'
