kimkey prompted: "And since, you mentioned this is a somewhat new universe, is it possible to have a teacher's conference? After all, maybe Damon gets tired of going so Enzo goes so boyfriend doesn't kill anyone and defend his new Bambino?"

Damon flips up the desk part of the chair and still squirms to adjust. These were not meant for anyone over the age of 18. Heck, he's seen some of the football players. How do they possibly fit in here? He glances over at Stefan who's tapping his foot, anxiety written in his green eyes. Damon reaches over and squeezes his arm.

"Don't worry, Bunny, you won't be in trouble," he says.

"That's not what I'm worried about," Stefan mumbles. "I don't want you flipping out on Tanner."

"If he deserves it, I absolutely will."

Stefan makes a face. "This is why I hate parent teacher conferences. You can't keep your cool."

"I can be cool." Stefan snorts. Damon holds up his hands. "I can!" His son shakes his head. "Don't doubt my powers, little boy."

"That's another thing. You don't need to refer to me as your baby or little boy or whatever. Tanner doesn't need more fuel."

Damon shakes his head. "If he tries anything, he'll have me and your papa to deal with." He checks the clock. "Where is he anyway?"

Stefan doesn't say he's relieved Enzo is late. Maybe he'll miss History all together and they can just go to the next class.

The door opens and Stefan expels a sigh of relief when William Tanner walks in. He never thought he'd be so happy to see his teacher. Damon raises from his seat, giving Tanner a curt nod.

"William," he says, his voice low.

Tanner puts on a fake smile. "Damon." He offers his hand, which the vampire reluctantly shakes. Tanner glances over at Stefan. "Hello, Stefan." All the teen offers is a wave.

The adults take their seats. Tanner flips through some folders on his desk. A telltale smirk comes across his face once he reaches the desired name. Stefan frowns. Damon rubs his arm, giving him a soft look. Stefan gently pulls away.

"Ah, yes, Stefan." Tanner clears his throat. "I suppose we should start off with the good." He looks over at Damon. "Your brother…"

"My son," Damon corrects.

Tanner sighs. "Yes, okay, your son has a pretty good attendance record. Just a couple of absences."

"Which were excused due to him dropping."

"Yes, I'm well aware. Given the Little Education Policy, I legally cannot let this affect his grade. So long as he makes up the assignments." Damon doesn't miss the brief scowl. "Which he always does."

"Stef is very responsible."

"His grades…"

The door swings open, causing the three to look up. Damon beams at the sight of his husband. Tanner's scowl grows. Stefan tilts his head up, praying that this goes well.

"Excuse me, I'm conducting a conference. You need to wait your turn."

"Ah, but it is my turn." Enzo strides across the room. "You see the St. John next to the Salvatore? That'd be me."

Tanner raises a brow. "Excuse me?"

"I'm Enzo St. John. Stefan's papa."

Tanner looks between him and Damon, blinking rapidly. "I thought you were Stefan's father."

"It's 2011, Tanner," Damon narrows his eyes. "Are you telling me that you're not aware children can have two dads?"

"I…of course…I just…" Tanner sighs, looking back at Enzo. "You're late."

"Apologies, I had to finish up some work." He slides into the empty desk beside his son, ruffling his hair. "How ya doing, Stef?"

Stefan shrugs. "I just want this to be over."

"We'll make this quick then, yes?" Enzo asks Tanner.

The history teacher sighs. "If there will be no further interruptions. I was just telling your boyfriend…"

"Husband."

Tanner breathes through his nose. "Husband. I was telling your husband that Stefan's attendance is okay for the most part. He makes an effort to make up his assignments when he misses class due to dropping. I was moving onto his grades."

"Ah, they're impressive, no?" Enzo grins. "I know vampires aren't eligible for honor societies and the like, but our little boy is very smart."

Stefan blushes, especially off Damon's nod in agreement. Tanner doesn't look fazed.

"He does well, mostly pulling As. However, that's not what I wanted to talk about," he says, flipping to a different part of the folder. "Your son has an issue with classroom decorum."

Damon arches a brow. "What does that mean?"

"Decorum is defined as behavior in…" Tanner's swiftly interrupted.

"I know the definition of decorum." Damon rolls his eyes. "I mean how is Stefan not displaying it?"

"Your son has the tendency to interrupt class. I can't get through one lesson without him piping up." Tanner pushes forward a stack of yellow slips of paper. "Here are the copies of the referral slips I've had to write for him this term alone."

Damon picks one up and looks it over. "This isn't very specific. He talked back? How, exactly?"

"I believe this was during our lesson on the Renaissance. I was talking about the root of the word when your son interrupted."

"I was correcting your pronunciation," Stefan argues. "That's all."

"You see, this is the issue," Tanner says, folding his hands. "Stefan seems to think he can just speak whenever he wishes."

Enzo sits up straighter. "Are you saying he can't participate in class?"

"I encourage participation. What I do not approve of is trying to make me look bad in front of the entire class."

Stefan scoffs. "I don't…"

He trails off when he sees the stern look in his teacher's eyes. Stefan sinks down in his desk. Damon glowers at the teacher.

"Did you pronounce the word wrong?"

Tanner shakes his head. "That's irrelevant…"

"No, it's not. How did you say it?"

"I fail to see what this has to do with anything."

"If you feel our son was disrespectful, just say it," Enzo says in a challenging tone. "You see, Damon made sure Stefan is fluent in Italian and I help support that. I would hate to think he isn't learning."

Stefan picks a poster of Washington crossing the Delaware and stares at it. He's never wished more that he wasn't a vampire so he could tune out this conversation.

"Fine. In the interest of moving forward," Tanner barks. "I said, Rinasmento."

Enzo smirks. "And I'm assuming Stefan told you it's Rinascimento."

"Which is the proper pronunciation," Damon adds.

"I am well aware of that."

"Then why didn't you say it that way?"

"It's irrelevant," Tanner bristles, refusing to let them interrupt. "My point is, this happens often. I make a mistake and Stefan feels the need to call out and correct me."

"Perhaps you should study up on the material yourself. That way a 17-year-old isn't embarrassing you."

"You are the teacher after all," Enzo adds. "It's shouldn't be up to my son to teach the class."

Tanner grits his teeth. "I see exactly where Stefan gets his disrespect from."

"No, see, we make sure we are raising a very respectful little boy."

Stefan's cheeks turn bright red and he sinks down in the chair. Enzo puts a hand on his shoulder and continues.

"We also know he is a very bright and clever student. As long as he is respectful when correcting you, I do not see the issue."

Damon nods in agreement. "It isn't Stefan's fault that you aren't doing your job."

Tanner narrows his beady eyes. "I don't know where the two of you get off…"

"As Stefan's fathers. This is a parent-teacher conference after all. Who says it just needs to be about our son's behavior?" Damon smirks. "Perhaps we should talk about the education he is getting. It's very important to us that Stefan is getting the best. He may know a lot, but we know there's things he doesn't. It's why we made a hefty donation to the school to update the textbooks. Have you not read yours?"

Tanner slams the folder shut, shaking his head.

"This is going nowhere. The two of you clearly don't care how your son behaves. I am not going to waste my breath."

Enzo rises to his feet. "I know one thing. You keep giving my little boy a hard time and we're going to have a problem. Damon has already addressed your behavior with the principal once. I'll have no issue going down there."

Tanner's face is as red as Stefan's. The tiny timer on his desk buzzes. Damon stands up.

"I believe that means it's time for your next conference. Hopefully they don't let you walk all over their child." He glances down at Stefan. "Let's go, buddy."

Stefan bolts from his seat and dashes out. Enzo and Damon follow behind him, holding the door for the next parent… Klaus, with Elena and Jeremy in tow. Damon smirks, knowing Tanner's getting back to back lectures. Stefan folds his arms over his chest, pouting. Luckily, the hallway is empty.

"You two really had to go that hard on him?"

"Oh, don't be like that, Bambino," Enzo says, patting his back. Stefan's cheeks burn further. "You know we have your back."

"Yeah, but I still have to deal with him every day."

"And now he knows if he wants to treat you poorly, you have two fathers that will come down here," Damon tells him. Stefan sighs. "Are you really upset with us?"

Stefan makes a face. "No…I guess not. I just…you guys are too protective."

"Always." Damon wraps an arm around him. Enzo does the same on his other side. Both dads kiss their son on the cheek. Stefan squirms, trying to hide a smile. "Where to next?"

"French. You can keep the fangs away. Mrs. Pomater is very nice."

The next few conferences go well. Stefan is getting mostly As in all of his classes and his teachers sing his praises. In the classes he's in with Bonnie, Elena, Tyler and Matt, they mention he occasionally chats a bit too much, which earns him a Look from his dads. Overall, none come close to Tanner. Stefan feels at ease as they enter Caroline's classroom. She smiles at Enzo and Damon, giving them each a hug before they all settle into the comfortable chairs she had the comfortable consideration to bring.

"Stefan is doing very well," Caroline says. "I try to keep the books challenging for my supernatural students who may have read the classics one too many times. Stefan still takes it all seriously. His essays are well-written."

Damon grins, wrapping an arm around his son. Stefan blushes a little under the praise. "That's what I like to hear."

"My only concern is how much he chats in class," she continues. Enzo clears his throat, once again giving his son a look. Stefan squirms. Caroline chuckles. "However, I have the same issue with Elena and Jeremy in their respective classes. No doubt Klaus has gotten the same report from their teachers. I also had to tell Sheila, Vicki and Carol the same thing." She isn't supposed to share information on other students, but Damon and Enzo know the guardians won't mind. "I think I'll have to move their seats."

"We approve," Enzo says. "Stefan knows that's disrespectful."

Stefan nods. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Forbes-Mikaelson."

Caroline smiles. "I understand, Stefan. As I said, you are a very good student. It's tempting when you're around your friends. And I am glad that you are adjusting so well. You're still fairly new to Mystic Falls High."

"Everyone has been really great," he says. "It's a lot different than when I came here in the 90s."

"I'm glad to hear it."

"Is there anything else we should be aware of?" Damon asks.

"You two are raising a very sweet, responsible boy." Stefan smiles a little. Damon rubs his arm, beaming proudly. "He is always willing to help people, which is really where I think the chatting comes from. Here, let me show you the project he and his group completed. They worked very hard on it."

Enzo and Damon marvel at the diorama that Stefan built with Elena and Bonnie. They get to read a couple of passages from his essays. After thanking Caroline, the family exits the classroom together and head out to the parking lot. Stefan looks between his dads, fidgeting nervously.

"So…you're not completely disappointed in me?"

Damon frowns. "Are you kidding me? We're so proud of you, Bunny Boy." He kisses the side of Stefan's head.

Enzo nods in agreement. "We got to hear all about how smart our bambino is," he smiles, pinching Stefan's cheek. The young vampire blushes, swatting at his hand.

"I mean, apparently I talk too much during class."

"We know you'll improve on that." He pulls Stefan close to him and kisses his forehead. "You know, one of the reasons I was late is I was prepping lasagna for dinner. Your favorite since you're such a good boy."

"You didn't know I'd get a good report," Stefan points out.

"Of course we did," Damon says. "We know our baby. That's why I also picked up your favorite ice cream for dessert."

Stefan chuckles. "You're biased. You have to think I'm smart."

Damon chuckles. "Nah, we know it." He smirks. "Unless you don't want double chocolate ice cream sundaes and your papa's lasagna?"

"I never said that," Stefan has a smirk of his own. "Even though I know Papa's going to end up feeding me."

Enzo shakes his head, keeping a tight grip on him as they walk to the car. Damon holds his son's hand. "If I don't, it's just going to get all over you."

Damon "We're not going to embarrass you"

Stefan, by the end of it all "I am going to put myself up for readoption...unless papa makes me food"

Enzo just gives the "I feed all the people" vibes. Damon does his best but he really isn't the best cook. It's why he and Stefan often eat at The Grill in the other fic. He can pick out ice cream like nobody's business!
