Episode 38: Battle
Rhinos, cheetahs, lions and jackals fought with brutality in the Outlands, Dogo and Bedor had reunited with Gorger and the rest of their forces. Kion approached them between the battle. "We must bring down the rhinos first, they´re liquidating us!" He gestured away to show them the impetus with which the rhinos were killing their soldiers. "I have a plan." Kion looked at them with a convinced glance. "My cheetahs will distract them, then we´ll attack them from all fronts, jackals and lions."
Bedor looked at Gorger and his king. "That could work."
"Alright, Kion." Dogo nodded at him.
Bedor howled and started to run towards one of the rhinos. "Mbweha!" He killed a cheetah on his way, biting his neck strongly and throwing him to the ground, panting and running with conviction, starting to be followed by his warriors. "End with the rhinos, brave Mbweha!"
Dogo, Kion and Gorger followed them, Kion looked up and let out a noisy roar. "Ferezans!" The cheetahs began to group around him. "Distract the rhinos while we take care of them!" The cheetahs chirruped affirmatively. "Lions and lionesses of Mufasa´s kingdom! Fight them with courage and boldness! Bite and blow until there´s nothing left of them!" Kion roared with bravery, more roars and chirrups of the same kind were heard afterwards.
Rani and Kiara had heard Kion´s command as well, they ran rapidly towards his horde, being chased by two cheetahs. Baturu looked at them from a high rock and let out a growl, he then jumped to the ground and rushed towards them. One of the cheetahs scratched Rani´s hind leg, she groaned and stopped her steps suddenly, the cheetah then also stopped running, but somewhat late as Rani had already jumped at her, getting her head inside her jaws, biting strongly and killing the cheetah rapidly, barely managing to hear her final scream. Rani looked at her wounded leg for a moment then licked it a couple of times, she then turned in order to keep following Kion and Dogo´s warriors, but a brutal blow came from behind her, scratching her face badly, she screamed intensely by the pain and fell to the ground. Rani looked up and saw Baturu standing before her, walking menacingly while chuckling evilly, licking the blood on his claws. "No spurious royalty like yours can beat me, Rani, so called queen of the Pridelands." He growled strongly at her.
Rani gasped by the pain on her bleeding face. "You´ll never be king, Baturu."
"I´ve always been king! Don´t you see the greatness of my army! The loyalty tha..." Baturu got suddenly blowed by Kiara, he staggered as he looked at her with rage and pain, his face was bleeding just as Rani´s, he covered his face with a paw. "You filth!"
"There´s more where that came from!" Kiara growled at him daringly. Baturu roared with rage and ran towards her, he jumped and then got tackled by Rani, she grunted while scratching his face with her sharp claws, cutting his eye badly, making him scream by the pain. Baturu turned over violently while throwing a desperate blow at her face, she grunted and fell to the ground then stood up and moved away from him while rubbing her face.
"Gah! Idiot!" Baturu stood up while growling at her, his right eye was bleeding, as well as several cuts on his face.
"My king!" Denji arrived and tackled Kiara, she groaned and bit his mane with strength, then threw him aside, Denji hit the ground a couple of times until laying next to Baturu, screeching and groaning.
"Stand up, Denji! Stand up!" Baturu exclaimed at Denji.
"Yes...king!" Denji got onto his paws while shaking his head and growling at the two lionesses. He rushed towards Rani and jumped towards her, raising a paw, with his claws ready to strike, she dodged him and let him fall over the ground then rushed and with a growl of rage she started to bit his neck with strength, grunting and munching continuously. "Gah! Help...m..!"
"Denji! No!" Baturu exclaimed with great worry and anger, he tried to go stop Rani but Kiara got in his way, tackling him while trying to bite him. Baturu resisted her attacks by blocking them with his paws, he roared with desperation and hit her head with his own, making her scream by the pain and fall down. Baturu rapidly got onto his paws and rushed towards Denji, finding out that Rani had ran away. "Denji...Denji!" He approached him, Denji was bleeding out, coughing blood and breathing brokenly.
"K...king." Denji could barely talk. A tear ran down his fur. " I...I´m s...sorry."
"Denji, no." Baturu sat down next to him, with a lump in his throat. "Denji!" He screamed with wrath and sadness.
"P...please...finish what y...you started." Denji sobbed while groaning and panting.
"What we started..." Baturu sobbed. "We started this...son."
Denji smirked lightly. "S...Son?"
"Denji, please, hold on..." Baturu spoke with a broken voice. "We can cure you!" He started to cry.
"It´s..." Denji started to close his eyes. "...over...for m...me." He smiled at him again. "Father."
"Please..." Baturu stroked his face with his. "Please! Don´t leave me!" He nuzzled his forehead, hearing no response from him. "Denji..." He kept crying and licked his face. "She will pay for this..." Baturu let out a scream of hatred, anger and thirst for revenge. He laid down next to him, resting his head on his neck, crying bitterly.
Meanwhile, Kiara was being carried by a group of jackals, the ones that had been tasked with rescuing the wounded. They walked rapidly behind rocks, between cracks and gorges, hiding from the battling hordes. One of the jackals gasped when seeing a lion approaching them, roaring and drooling, enraged, fierce and hostile. "Guys...guys, we got company!" The young jackal exclaimed with great fear and worry.
The leading jackal looked over his back and his eyes widened when seeing the lion approaching them. "I..." He hesitated before ending the phrase. "...I´ll stop him." The jackal looked at his comrades. "You keep hurrying, get her in the refuge."
"Dhabihu, no!" The jackal at his side said, with eyes of sadness.
The lion was getting closer, his roar echoed evilly in the gorges. Dhabihu looked at his comrade with a convinced glare. "I must." He smirked at him with a parting look. "Fulfill the mission, Aidizi." Dhabihu separated from the group and rushed to the opposite side, towards the fierce lion.
"No!" Aidizi cried out loud, still hurrying, carrying Kiara along with his comrades, full of tears and gasps of desperation.
Dhabihu and the lion jumped towards each other, the young jackal bit his shoulder while the strong lion bit his back, piercing his fur and skin strongly, Dhabihu screamed and groaned but didn´t let go the lion´s shoulder. Both fell to the ground, still biting, the lion shook with strength while turning on his back, getting Dhabihu against the rocky ground, he leaned on him aggressively, biting repeatedly. Dhabihu cried and screeched while closing his eyes, strengthening his bite even more, making the lion to screech loudly. The lion kept biting until the jackal´s back was totally torn apart. Dhabihu died, his jaws slowly loosened from the lion´s shoulder. The lion pulled his snout away from him then spat on his corpse, he then looked around and walked while trying to find any sign of the jackals and the unconscious lioness, but the search was in vain.
After a couple of minutes, the group of jackals arrived at the cave they had chosen to shelter the wounded, it was medium sized, dark and rocky just as the gorge that led to it, the wounded were laying all over the ground, cheetahs, jackals and lions, with injuries of different grades. "Careful." One of the jackals said while they lowered down Kiara, gently placing her on a flat surface, at the cave´s bottom, next to a cheetah.
"Dhabihu." Aidizi was crying bitterly.
"He was the bravest of us all." A comrade of his said. "The best way to honor him is to finish the mission. Just as he said."
"Will she survive, Pili?" Another jackal gestured at Kiara.
"I don´t know." Pili looked around, seeing all of the wounded. "Same for all these."
Meanwhile, Kion was holding from the flesh of a huge rhino, his jaws didn´t let go, he pierced the gray skin of the huge animal stronger each second, frowning and growling with bravery. The rhino shook violently, trying to get Kion and other two lions off his side, with no results. The cheetahs scratched and bit his face while avoiding his sharp horn with graceful jumps and crouches. Two jackals got under his belly and teared it apart with quick, strong and precise bites, then they moved away when the rhino fell to the ground, bleeding from his belly and side, letting out his last groans and snarls. "Tuendelee!" Kion exclaimed with an intense verve, telling the warriors to continue in their path to victory.
"Tuendelee!" Dogo, Bedor and Gorger replied along with other warriors, rushing to go for their next victim, a powerful rhino that was battling another group of lions and cheetahs, the jackals there fought with the enemy felines, who were lions and cheetahs as well, in order to let their allies finish the rhino without hassle. Kion, Dogo, Bedor and Gorger arrived at the battle, Kion approached the rhino and jumped at him, biting its neck strongly, Bedor went for the rhino´s side this time, Gorger and Dogo helped battle the cheetahs and the lions from Baturu´s forces, it was a ferocious fight between lions and cheetahs from both sides, jackals as the allies of Mufasa´s kingdom and the big rhino that served Baturu´s will.
