History: On July 7, 1917, a Saturday, Joan L. Thunder was born. As it was the seventh day of the seventh month in a year ending in a seven on the seventh day of the week, this marked the baby for a great destiny. In the small island nation of Badhnisia, the High Priest of Aissor marked this was the Seventh Circle of the Moon Lasheen. Agents were dispatched to find the infant born under this sign.

Finding the baby, the agents stole her, taking care to darken her hair and skin. Arriving in Badhnisia, the infant was placed upon the priest's alter and the belt of the Eternal Zone of the Zodiac was bonded to her, with the secret words 'Cei-U' was spoken seven times, with the spell taking full effect on the child's seventh birthday.

Agents of the neighboring nation of Agolea learned the priest's actions, however, and launched a war against the country in hopes to secure the baby's power for themselves. The High Priest gave young Joan to a nurse and had them flee to Borneo. They lived in a small fishing village for the next seven years when a storm struck the coast. Joan was dragged out to the sea, where a passing American freighter found her and took her back to New York. She would be identified by her birth parents due to the strawberry shaped birthmark on her left shoulder.

Now living at home, things seem to happen to the Thunder house, all good. If there was a storm the Thunder household was dry, likewise with snow. The High Priest started looking for Joan, but by now her father had changed jobs and moved. Joan would move out at the age of 22, unaware of her ability to command the magic Thunderbolt.

She drifted from job to job, her luck being incredibly lucky to her and bad to everyone around her. She tried her hand at professional wrestling, but gave it up to please her boyfriend, Davey Darling. During her brief tenure as a rodeo rider, she saved the life of small girl who fell in the path of a steer and later adopted her.

She would later be present at the first meeting of the Justice Society of America, acting as the team's mascot, until the Flash resigned and she was chosen to formerly replace the speedster.

When World War II ended, Joan was now 28 (4X7) and more powerful. The High Priest waited until her birthday before casting a spell over her to reduce her power over the Thunderbolt, until she was only answering about one call in four. She would leave the JSA over this, to be replaced by the Black Canary.

By this point the King of Badhnisia was dying. The High Priest had Joan kidnapped and cast a spell to make her obey the priest's commands. When the king died, the priest had Joan take over the throne, with him controlling her. Joan found a way out, however, and sent the Thunderbolt to Louis Lane, who in turn had Superwoman rush to the country and arrest the High Priest. Joan then stepped down as queen and helped turn the country into a democracy. The Zodiac Belt has not been seen since.

Powers: When she speaks the 'Cei-U' (pronounced "Say You"), Joan has absolute control over the Thunderbolt, a genie capable of any feat but is compelled to follow orders literally. The Thunderbolt can only function for one hour at most per twenty-four hour period.
