History: Oliva Queen spent years of her life researching Native American history. Over that time, she had taken up archery as a hobby. A fire destroyed the museum, leaving Queen distraught. A friend of hers suggested she explore the Lost Mesa, which he heard was a 'gold mine' for artifacts. A waiter overheard the words and took them literally, following Queen to the area.
Arriving at the mesa, Queen met Quoag and Roy Harper. Quoag raised Harper after the boy's parents were killed in a plane crash. The waiter and his gang arrived after them and attacked, killing Quoag and forcing Queen and Harper to flee up the mesa. It was there Queen stumbled across a giant gold idol.
Taking Quoag's bow, Queen and Harper held the criminals off until a thrown stick of dynamite dislodged the idol and sent it crashing down the mesa where it crushed the criminals.
Taking Harper back to Star City, Queen dubbed herself the Green Arrow, with Harper calling himself Speedy. Battling a variety of crooks, the Green Arrow and Speedy helped found the Seven Soldiers of Victory and later joined the wartime All-Star Squadron.
After the war, the Green Arrow slowly retired from crime fighting and focused more on her museum work. She fell in love with professional archer Casey King and married him. Her daughter Oliva would later take up the mantle of Green Arrow (see Green Arrow II)
Powers: The Green Arrow is one of the world's greatest archers. She used regular arrows at first, but during the war she started experimenting with arrowheads. She developed arrows with explosive heads, arrows with various types of gas inside the head, or arrows with thin lines attached. The Green Arrow was a decent hand-to-hand combatant and later developed a high-powered car later dubbed the Arrowcar.
The Green Arrow also built a headquarters she dubbed the Quiver (the top floor of her apartment building, converted into a lab/gym space and rented under a series of different names), although it was later reported as the Arrowcave for some reason.
Based on characters and concepts created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp.
Cheated a bit on this one but Bernard King you might recall his inspiration as Arrowette (the first one)
