History: Sir Ystina was a new arrival at the court of King Arthur in the early days of the 6th Century A.D. when a dying knight, Sir Fallon, crashed into the hall. Fallon had been mortally wounded by the ogre Blunderbore. Arthur moaned at the loss of Fallon, but Ystina jumped and swore to slay the monster. Made a knight on the spot, Ystina was outfitted with armor and given Fallon's blade.
Riding north in the dead of winter, Ystina became lost and nearly froze to death before encountering the wizard Merlin. Merlin, sensing a great density about the knight, enchanted the armor and blade. Merlin also opted to give Ystina's horse wings, mostly as a lark.
Thus armored, Ystina found Blunderbore and waged battle with the ogre. Ystina slew the ogre but in the process was buried alive in ice.
Ystina would stay frozen in ice until 1941 when Dr. Moresby, a curator at the New York Museum of Natural History, led an expedition to northlands of the UK. Reviving them, Moresby brought them back to America. Moresby worked out a deal with Ystina, he would teach the errant knight about the modern day if the Shining Knight would teach him about the real King Arthur. He also helped Ystina gain the new identity of Justina Arthur, assistant curator and student.
With the enchanted armor and sword, the Shining Knight became dedicated to fighting evil, later joining the Seven Soldier of Victory and the wartime All-Star Squadron.
The Shining Knight swore to stay in the present day, but Moresby discovered a parchment detailing the reign of Queen Ystina the Good, who would restore the land after the death of Arthur. To date Ystina is unaware of the parchment or the implications this may have.
Powers: The Shining Knight is a master of 6th level combat. The armor of the Knight is enchanted and totally impervious to harm. The sword is equally enchanted and capable of cutting through everything that was known by the 6th Century (i.e. iron and steel but not titanium). The Shining Knight's steed, Winged Victory, is capable of flight.
