Chapter 3: D.A.D.A Class
The sun hung low in the sky as Spyro and Hunter made their way to the academy, the cool breeze carrying a sense of anticipation. The school was abuzz with activity as dragons of various tribes and colors hurried to their classes. Spyro, still puzzled by the mysterious whispers, couldn't shake the feeling that something significant was about to unfold.
As they entered the academy, Qibli, a fellow dragon from their winglet, approached with a knowing smile. In his claws, he held a small jade scale, intricately carved with symbols.
"Hey, Spyro, Hunter! I've got something for you." Qibli handed each of them a jade scale. "This is your key to the Jade Winglet's secret hideout. Just tap it against your desk, and it'll open up, revealing all the books you'll need for your classes."
"Wait, is it just the ones Fern gave us?" Hunter asked.
"Well, yeah, I guess," Qibli said. "But does more than that."
"What do you mean by that?" Spyro tryed to pry.
"You'll see." Qibli winked. Must have a thing for mischief... Hunter thought.
Spyro and Hunter exchanged curious glances, but decided to follow Qibli's lead. The academy had more secrets than they initially thought.
In Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the teacher, a wise and elderly dragon named Professor Ignitus, began the lesson. The classroom was adorned with magical artifacts, and the air crackled with latent energy.
"As you know," Professor Ignitus began, "this class is crucial for every dragon, especially in these uncertain times. Today, we'll focus on basic defensive spells. Let's start with the Shield Charm, Protego."
The students listened attentively as Professor Ignitus demonstrated the incantation and wand movements. Spyro and Hunter, sitting side by side, tried to replicate the spell with varying degrees of success. Spyro Mastered the Charm with ease. Hunter, on the other hand, sent red sparks practically everywhere.
"Well done, Hunter," Professor Ignitus replied. "But we'll work on the Stunning charm, Stupefy, Later." The entire class, besides Spyro, Laughed. Hunter felt his Cheeks burn. Yep, this is me, He thought, annoyed, the only person in the world who tries to do Protego and ends up with Stupefy.
As the class progressed, Spyro couldn't help but feel a strange connection to the magical energy. The whispers grew more distinct, almost like a chorus echoing in his mind. He heard his name, fragments of destiny, and a mention of heroes.
Across the room, Hunter, who struggled to keep his attention on the lesson due to the mist that seemed to cloud his vision, inadvertently knocked over a stack of books with his Wand, Trying to do Protego. The teacher shot him a disapproving look, and Spyro couldn't help but chuckle. Hunter shoved him, Muttering, "Why are you the way that you are?"
After class, Qibli approached them again, his eyes glinting with mischief. "How was your first D.A.D.A. class? Exciting, right?"
Spyro nodded, still mulling over the strange connection he felt during the lesson. "Did you hear those whispers too?"
Qibli's expression grew serious. "Whispers? No, I didn't hear anything unusual. Maybe it's just your vivid imagination."
Spyro decided not to press the matter, but the feeling that something significant was unfolding lingered. As they made their way to the next class, Spyro caught a glimpse of two mysterious Humans who always seemed to be a step ahead, sharing a quiet conversation in the hallway.
The bell chimed, signaling the end of classes for the day. Qibli looked at Spyro and Hunter with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Time to check out our secret hideout. Follow me."
They followed Qibli to a door that seemed to be carved into the cavern.
"Whoa." Hunter and Spyro breathed.
"This is awesome!" Hunter exclaimed, "This is the Jade Winglet Hideout?"
"Yep, this is it," Qibli said. "Ready to look inside it?"
"Of course!" The two shouted, "We're ready when you are."
The trio tapped their jade scales against the door, revealing a hidden chamber filled with books, scrolls, and magical artifacts. The room was a treasure trove of knowledge and secrets.
Spyro couldn't shake the feeling that their journey at the academy was just beginning, and the whispers in his mind hinted at a destiny that awaited them.
Meanwhile, in his office, the headmaster, Silver, observed Spyro and Hunter's progress with a watchful eye. He muttered to himself, "The whispers grow louder. It seems their destinies are intertwined. Hunter, my boy, your ancestors have long-guarded secrets. It's time you learn about your legacy."
