In memory of White Wolf Publishing before getting absorbed completely into Paradox Interactive
BEFORE WE BEGIN
DON'T SKIP! This is important information for those that are about to read this fanfiction about the World of Darkness. There are gonna be some major changes and let you know about my own interpretation of WoD along with what will be included, what is not gonna be in it, and so on and so forth. But I will try to keep it lore accurate as I can. So hear me out:
Number 1: I am not gonna use 5th edition (or version 5) of World of Darkness. I know that there are some people out there that do love the 5th editions, but I don't personally. Mostly because of the stupid naming, or rather renaming, of all the bullshit there is. I am not calling the Followers of Set Clan Ministry. I don't care how much vitae you have shoved up your ass, it's not Clan Ministry or Clan Bitchery, it's Clan Setite. Or Followers of Set. That is one of the dumbest changes they've done. Not only that, they got rid of the snake powers that Clan Setite was known for so it will be added back in. Also, there will be no Clan Hecata. Because having all those necromatic vampires united to make one clan is dumb and erased what made the clans that have joined unique.
My dad used to collect the old World of Darkness game books (2nd edition) and he agrees with me on the stupidity of these changes. When I was 7, I read the comic sections of Werewolf: The Apocalypse when he wasn't looking because I thought it was cool. I...really didn't get involved with the game. The reason why I am making this now is because of Hunter: The Parenting. A YouTube show that was once known for making WH40K: If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device and I loved that series. Unfortunately, that series was forced to get cancelled because of Game Workshop who wanted to release their own animations and bring down the hammer on those that did make the series. Hunter: The Parenting is a good series and I love it and it has become my main inspiration to make my own WoD series. To be honest, I thought if I delve deep into the world would be easy. In truth, it wasn't. So for those that like to watch stuff on YouTube or a fan of WoD, check out the series because it is really good and do a reaction video of the series so you can share your thoughts with others no matter if you are a fleshtuber (a person that doesn't use virtual avatars) or a vtuber (virtual tuber, pretty self explanatory).
Back on topic. Hecata is both a clan and a sect, so Hecata will be a sect...probably. Plus, I am not calling Clan Assamite its new name, Banu Haqim. It has always been Assamite and will always will be. Plus, they will remain an independent clan rather than being in the Camarilla. Same with Clan Setite that had joined the Anarchs. To me, Clan Setite joining the Anarchs makes no sense. However, I will include the new Hunter Orgs from 5th edition to give the story more flavor.
Number 2: I am also gonna include stuff from Chronicles of Darkness (CofD). And yes, I am well aware of the controversy of Beast: The Primordial and the horrible things that one of the creators (Matthew McFarland) has done. Can't do Beast: The Primordial without that bit of information when I was watching videos about the game. (And please don't bring this up ever in the reviews.)
Moving forward. There are some interesting stuff in Chronicles of Darkness (despite the controversy) and I heard that some people like it and some not so much. It's like comparing Warhammer Fantasy with Age of Shitmar. True, but there are some cool shit in it that I thought would be cool to add. Such as Hunter: The Vigil. Instead of the Imbued, you got regular people that are divided between Compacts and Conspiracies and they are regular humans that focus more on street-level rather than being an Imbued, a superhuman that has been granted by higher beings called, Messengers. However, in Hunter: The Vigil, the hunters become Slashers, people that have become serial killers that kill both normal people and the supernatural alike. The FBI in both Reckoning and Vigil has apartments that deal with the supernatural such as the Vanguard Serial Crimes Unit (VSCU) and the Special Affairs Department (SAD). In this version, both of them are fighting over the a large sum of grant money in a similar manner both the FBI, CIA and NSA do in real-life. However, not everything from CofD will be added. For example; Vampire: The Requiem has some interesting stuff in it such as the bloodlines and clans that aren't in Vampire: The Masquerade. However, in this story, the bloodlines will form their own clans and will either be independent or joined a sect. But that's not unusual for bloodlines to become clans. In Vampire: The Masquerade, the Gargoyles were originally created by a Tremere sorceress created them as a new addition of the clan to be used as workers (slaves to be more precise to other Tremere clan members) until they started a revolt against their masters and became an independent clan. True, it states that they are a bloodline but are a clan nonetheless.
Number 3: Here is what will be added to the story:
+Vampire: The Masquerade (with bloodlines from Vampire: The Requiem)
+Werewolf: The Apocalypse
+Mage: The Ascension
+Wraith: The Oblivion
+Changeling: The Dreaming
+Hunter: The Reckoning
+Kindred of the East (YES the Kuei-Jin exist and part of the lore, so shut the fuck up!)
+Mummy: The Resurrection
+Demon: The Fallen
+Promethean: The Created
+Beast: The Primordial
+Geist: The Sin-Eaters
+Changeling: The Lost
+Hunter: The Vigil
+Deviant: The Renegades
+Orpheus
Here is what will NOT be included:
+Werewolf: The Forsaken
+Mage: The Awakening
+Mummy: The Curse
+Demon: The Descent
Let me get to the reasons. I know that some do love some of the stuff, but it is rather difficult to combine certain things. In both Demon series, it is hard to do so since the demons from Demon: The Fallen are more biblical while Demon: The Descent have more technological demons. If I had to choose which one I'm gonna use: I choose The Fallen because there are some biblical stuff that will be mentioned in the prologue. True the concept of AI Angels becoming self-aware is a good concept, but I prefer the original because of the Apocalyptic Forms. For the werewolves, there are some major differences between Apocalypse and Forsaken such as terminology, antagonists, and what the werewolves support (Gaia and Luna). So, I'm sticking with Werewolf: The Apocalypse because I like the lore and setting of it and I have read the comic of the 2nd edition book. Not to mention that there are a lot more Fera breeds to make it more interesting rather than just have garou (werewolves) alone. But the garou are called something else in CofD. And I like the dark and grittiness of World of Darkness compared to Chronicles of Darkness.
I got some mixed reviews of both Mummy games. Resurrection and Curse. To me, I kinda like Mummy: The Resurrection because it does have ties to two very distinct vampire clans: Clan Setite (Followers of Set) and Clan Children of Osiris. True, the CoO aren't around anymore after the sixth maelstrom, but I would put them in. Because fuck metaplot which 90% of players do all the time. As for Mage, I choose Ascension. Why? Like with the vampires, lore. The Tremere are a clan of vampires that were members of the Order of Hermes that turn on their order and had what is known as the Massasa War. Not only that, there is a lot of shit in Ascension that I do like compared to Awakening. True, Awakening has a great deal of interesting lore, but I like the Technocratic Union as the morally grey antagonists compared to Awakening.
Now for the other stuff that are in there you may have noticed such as the two changeling settings. I know that The Dreaming is way harder than The Lost, but there is a reason. When the fae are losing what little they can get, they have turned to kidnapping mortals and replacing their souls with other faefolk to replenish their numbers. Plus, there is something important you should know. In this world, the Forced Seeming (the CTL version of the Seeming) are being used to spread folklore, stories, and legends to various parts of the world in exchange for removing the curse (turning back to a mortal) as part of a bargain after getting kidnapped if they do a good job. If they did, then they get their original human soul back and have their memories wiped and get the copy of that person back into the Hedge. Those that don't are gonna remain a fae forever as they escape and find a freehold, or destroy the copy of that person in order to try to get their life back despite being a fae, or just accept their new life as a fae and enjoy it. That last one there is a very rare case though.
Wraith and Geists maybe similar since they are, well, ghosts, but there are some differences. Wraiths go through the Shadowlands (also known as the Underworld) and require fetters in order to maintain some form of contact with the mundane world (or Skinlands in their terminology). These include unfinished business, finding out what it is, and come to terms with their death in order to move on. Geists, on the other hand, don't have fetters as they drank from the rivers of the Underworld and possess a corpse in order to be alive again or be bounded to a living person and merge with them. Orpheus is actually about people that can astral project themselves and communicate with ghosts. All three are different yet very interesting. And I already talked about the two Hunter games so moving on to the last stuff.
Prometheans I find interesting and you cannot have an array of classic horrors without a Frankenstein monster. They are reanimated corpses that lack souls so they go on a journey to get a soul of their own via a pilgrimage while able to disguise themselves as normal humans by alchemical means. I know we got Mummies, but the Osirian Prometheans lack the Ba and Ka (soul) so they have to do something for Osiris. So imagine two different types of mummies working together while on a journey. Deviant: The Renegades are like a dark and edgy version of the X-Men but without the X-gene. I'm an X-Men fan since the original 1990's X-Men Animation and the 2000's X-Men: Evolution. Lastly, Beast: The Primordial and the Begotten, which are mortals that have the souls of monsters like mountain giants, dragons, lamias, etc. or more modern nightmares such as Slender Man, the Rake, and other such creatures that give nightmares and feed on them that are actually meant to teach their victims a lesson and Heroes make sure they stay in line and not go too far or they get destroyed.
So I have a question for you: What actually lurks beneath New York City's abandoned tunnels? Other than the Tzimisce Antediluvean, obviously. Is it a vampire waiting to capture unsuspecting urban explorer to feed on? Is it a Begotten that is protecting its lair? Is it a Ratkin that is making a home for itself? Is it a Deviant that has escaped and trying to hide? Is it a Sluagh or a Bogey fae that made its territory in the tunnels? Or is it a Zeka Promethean lurking in the shadows to avoid being seen? Or is it a Wraith that is trying to find out how to move on by looking for its lower half that has been cut by a train? Or is it a Slasher that seeks out its new target? Or is it just a construction worker making sure the city keeps on running?
Number 4: I'm gonna mix the stuff of our world with the story. And yes, that includes the events of COVID-19. However, this one is a bit...um... Okay, I know I said that I will try to keep it as lore accurate as possible, but I would like to throw a wrench into this world like the gremlin I am. So, Pentex does exist since it is related to Werewolf: The Apocalypse and you can't have the Werewolves without their biggest antagonist: The Wyrm. In this version of the World of Darkness mixed with our world, Pentex isn't all that powerful. For example; this world has GI Joe, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and Pokemon while Pentex make cheap knock-offs such as Action Bill, Mega Power Teen League, and Pocket Beasts and sell them for cheap. They may not be successful as the real thing, but it has become successful in brainwashing children into unknowingly worshipers of the Wyrm.
Another thing to add is that in 2012, Pentex, the main death cult corporation, had many undercover interpol agents that revealed many of the dastardly practices. The one's that aren't supernatural. Stuff like improper waste management, pollution, oil spills done on purpose, dumping toxins at suburbs, illegal whaling, manufacturing of biological weapons, industrial sabotage, false insurance claims. Because of this, Pentex had a choice; pay for their crimes or have their subsidiaries nationalized in various countries. Pentex chose to pay the price and accept various government oversights to make sure they do proper jobs at disposing waste and resource gathering, ended all insurance frauds and sabotage, and stopped all illegal activities. The Wyrm didn't liked that. So it started sticking its parts on other companies and works. These include, but not limited to: The Lorax Movie, Electronic Arts, Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, YouTube, Hollywood, Twitter, Facebook, Hasbro, and even going as far as political parties such as Wagner in Russia and MAGA of the United States. This also includes Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin as puppets of the Wyrm. And to make matters worse, it has gotten into vtubers. So yes, your favorite waifu is actually a brainwashing agent of the Wyrm that forces you to give away money, dedicate yourself to fapping and refusal to touch grass. [Apologies for those that love vtubers.] If you have seen the movie, THEY LIVE!, then you have a good idea on what to expect. Also, some restaurant locations such as McDonald's & Burger King will be replaced with O'Tolley's Family Restaurant.
Want more information about the Wyrm, go to the White Wolf wikia site for more details.
So expect stuff from our reality intertwining with stuff from World of Darkness (and stuff from Chronicles of Darkness). Oh, and the story takes place in 2024.
Number 5: DISCLAIMER WARNING! (Please see below for more details.)
Number 6: Please checkout Hunter: The Parenting for it is the reason why I am making this story and inspiration. If you know someone with a YouTube account (either they are fleshtuber or vtuber), please have them do a reaction to the series because it is underrated and needs more attention. We already got people doing reactions to The Amazing Digital Circus and it is a great series, but I would like my favorite vtubers react to Hunter: The Parenting. Especially when it does ads and things at the end of the credits. I think the series needs more love and attention along with support since they had to fire some of their staff members when Games Workshop shut down their series, If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device. (Probably due to the influence of the Wyrm.) And I like to see everyone's reaction to it. You can get Nuxanor, InternetCity, Markiplier, Ironmouse, Bubi, Sinder, Silvervale, Haruka Karibu, and whoever is your favorite while checking on the tube. Make sure they also react to the video essay when they caught up with the main series.
For those that are into World of Darkness already, I would recommend two video games. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (the original) and Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. Play VTMR first if you are interested in Diablo-like games and team tactics as you go from 1199 medieval Prague to 1999 London and ending it in New York City on New Year's Eve. That's one way to time travel into the future. As for VTMB, you might need to download the unofficial patch. Luckily, there is a website that has it so you don't have to go on Steam to download it and hunt down the unofficial patch. It's GOG dot COm and it has the patch. Also, checkout the two mods if you want more Vampire Clans to mess with such as Bloodlines: Antitribu and the Final Nights. If you want to play as a Hunter, try Unofficial Patch Plus as it does provide a Hunter campaign along with all the other stuff that was cut in the final version. There is also the Hunter: The Reckoning video game trilogy during the original Xbox, PS2 and GameCube days if you are interested.
Also, if you guys want to make an audio drama of this story on YouTube; go ahead. Make sure you give credit where credit is due. I would like to make my own audio drama but I am unable to get a YouTube account. I had one, but it has now become impossible for me to get in as it was years ago when I wanted to watch the Devil May Cry anime before I discovered other sites to watch it on in English dub. Due to the many updates and not being able to use it for so long resulted it being perma-locked. So, if you want to start your own YouTube channel and need something; use this story. Although, voice acting is expensive so be careful when setting up.
