Prologue

A glowing mass of light shimmered from the surface, into the depths, its call echoed. A moment spared for the silence that resumed. -But nothing came. Lonely was the shape upon the surface, relic memento to a time long since passed. Another shout into the abyss reamed into the depths. Nothing returned the call, but a singular wreck. A relic, of a place and time that once was, that would've been. Upon the waterlogged steel frame were impressed the identity of a vessel that will never be, in this world. Aboard in her sunken corridors, the device that had brought the misfortune that wrecked this world, to this world.

The surface vessel sailed the open waves unperturbed, its own kind not knowing of struggle since their rise to power, and for certain, not knowing a fearsome predator stalks its prey. Hidden amongst the curtain of the abyss, a dark mass follows the echoes of its call. Drawn in by the allure of yet another kill to its name. A prized badge to wear and an achievement which will strike fear into these enemies as she has done to her other foes in her long and bloodied past. Closer now, the veil of death lifts to not obstruct the grim work to occur.

"Warship, consistent sonar signature. Frigate or Destroyer-Escort Type. Japanese in origin." The mass observed its prey with sound, passively trying to identify it. A submarine-killer for sure, or rather if it were a normal warship, it would be a submarine-killer. "It serves as a sensor picket. Let's make this one disappear without a trace." The mass unconsciously traces the features around its habitat, "We would benefit from this small pocket in their sonar. Let's corral her to her needed destination"

The mass faded from visibility, merged with the abyss to begin her grim hunt. The warship of old-world make, but unnatural origins oblivious to its fate. Now tightening the noose around this string of fate, the destiny of this Destroyer now sealed. To become one with the chorus and join the countless, caught in her deadly haunts. A slip of the waves, a calm approach. Nature silenced at the prowl of a grimmest reaper. Narrow Strait, crossed the threshold. A time ill met, a fate forever sealed.

A desperate twist of the rudder, slow to respond. A delay in the bays which littered the deck. A swivel of weapons, now out of aim of death. A fate it will abide, crimson fills the air. An eerie holy chorus calls its name "Yuzuki, massive sonar response. Mark 56 Special AP Torpedo collides somewhere behind the main superstructure." The Sonar Operator reports, "Massive radiation spike of some unknown substance stowage. . . probably penetrated and ignited" the Caucasian man finishes. "Seems your hunch was correct. . . Fancy a gander, Madame Red?"

The mass grows and then finally breaches the surface. A Dark Submarine which dwarfs over the wreckage of its victim, another symbol joins the count on her forward dive planes. Nearly overtaken by symbols of various ship type icons. A dark haired-red eyed woman emerges from the conning tower of the submarine and gazes into the wreckage, a pitiful excuse for a destroyer, even as it melts into silver sand and a mess of a second world war destroyer.

A few men joined her out on her conning tower, watching the flaming and umbering wreck slowly slip beneath the waves. "I shall inform command about this, you three are going to take us towards Iwo Jima." she coldly directed her men, "You know where to find me should we encounter anything along the way." the men saluted and nodded at her orders, "Yes ma'am" one replied. They had turned their backs on the now leak of silver sand on the surface, returning into the conning tower.

The submarine once again began to sink into the abyss, blurring beneath the surface until it too faded into the blue, only the aftermath left in its wake. The seas turned black and red, her kill card and a forewarning to her new enemies that she will start hunting them. . yet her focus remains the same, her mission: Find a missing super battleship.

Author's Note:

Hello again people (and hello to the people of the Arpeggio Fandom)! I have returned, and this time with a completely new story! This one is a story I have been sitting on for a really long time. At first it wasn't a Fanfiction story and it was really short, but at the advisory of one of my friends, I have made it into an in-depth story. . . which did, in fact, turn it into a Fanfiction. The OC world I am having be kinda the cause of the Fog's creation, has its own overarching story and this part of that story was maybe a paragraph of off-handed comments from characters long. As you can tell, that has changed. Things will be explained in due time and I will be using the Manga as reference for the Fog and not the anime (the anime fog is kinda easy by comparison, literally five human destroyers ganged up on I-401 and broke her Klein Field. That's not an obstacle to avoid, that's just a nuisance).

I don't think there's a moment in the chapters to come, every 9th from now on, to explain the weaponization of the new element being presented so to TL:DR it, Special Metal, very heavy, very pointy. Also, the Destroyer didn't have its Klein Field up, so got hit. That is all for now. I'll post the Ch 1 proper on the 9th. Until then, Have a good timezone people, and a wonderful day.
