Disclaimer: Naruto don't belong to me
A/N: hey I'm here with a new series focused on Naruto and Hinata because it fits them better I guess. Enjoy!
Chapter 1: Purple notebook
She was pretty, popular, hot, confident, sexy, smart, she had a banging body. Sakura Haruno was everything Naruto wanted in a girl.
She had vibrant green eyes that he couldn't get out of his head. Anytime she looked his way he would trip over himself, he could get lost in the depths of her eyes that captured him in a trance. Her delicate, cute as a kittens nose and pink pouty lips that fit so perfectly together. She was a dream.
He'd flirt with her but when she flirted back he got shy. He wasn't use to her being flirty with him, so it always threw him off guard.
Watching her walk like a model through the hallway that was her runway on mornings became a daily thing for him.
She had just passed him leaving the sent of sweet cherry. He loved the way she flipped her hair and swung her hips.
Sakura knew she was hot, the confidence she had made her more attractive. The way she carried herself, she knew her worth. But at the same time it was effortlessly done, she didn't have to try to be perfect. She just was.
With dreamy eyes he walked behind her like a puppy, focused on nothing but her. That was until he bumped into a small frame.
Or more like they'd ran into him.
He glared down at the person for a split second. Before she could look up his face morphed into a curious, confused one. He stared as the small girl looked up at him in panic. Her face as red as tomatoes, her wide lavender eyes flickered up at him with embarrassment.
He'd forgotten about his earlier pursuit on Sakura. He was curious about the petite girl in front of him. What she was in such a hurry for that she ran into him?
...
He was perfect, smart, athletic, handsome as hell, mysterious. She didn't want to like him, like all the other girls at their school. He was the bad boy that invited danger, the one with a motorcycle and leather jackets. She couldn't tell a soul that she wanted that danger in her boring life. She had never paid attention to Sasuke before, until that one time they met after school. Since then she'd notice him more and more often.
"Hinata, could you be a doll and do me a favour and tell your cousin I'd stop by later." He'd spoken to her, she was so consumed in her thoughts she hadn't realized he'd stop in front of her. Even though she was staring straight at him.
Sasuke was a bad boy, but he was nice to her, maybe it had to do with her being Neji's cousin. "Hm, right." He nod his head at her and continued walking. He turned back and saw her still staring, shaking his head he winked at her before looking ahead. Hinata blushed deeply, she felt weak in the knees.
She'd realized she had just been staring at him just now with out a reply. Embarrassed she ran, her bangs slightly covering her eyes. She was running blindly and regretted it after she pretty much slammed into someone when she turned a corner.
Looking up at the blond boy Hinata blushed more, he was staring down at her with blue eyes. They were pretty, she notices. "I'm so sorry, Naruto." She bowed her head in a quick motion to show that she was indeed sorry. Then she took off again, this time watching ahead of her.
She could feel those blue eyes following her, it made her feel crazy. Judging her for the clumsy mess she usually wasn't. Being a Hyuga she would not act this way, she had to carry herself with grace.
Who was she kidding, that was her in front of her father's business companions. She was a mess any other day, just a little.
...
Naruto stood there looking at the small girl run away from him. Losing interest he shrugged his shoulders, he step forward wanting to clear the empty hallway only to stop.
"What the?" He bent down to take up what he almost stepped on. A small, purple notebook covered in pink hearts and flowers. It looked more like a diary than a notebook for school.
It had 'H.H' in golden prints at the right corner.
He looked up to find the Hyuga girl but she was long gone. Temptation crept at him to take a peep of the inside but he fought the intrusive thoughts and shove it in his bag. He would give it to her later.
He had to find Sakura first.
...
Hinata plopped down next to Tenten in their mathematics class looking pale. She was so distraught by how her morning was going. Of everything that could happen to her.
"What's up with you today? You look paler than usual." Tenten inspected her, she even went as far as to place the back of her palm on Hinata's forehead to check her temperature.
"I lost something very important." Just saying that out loud made her want to curl into a ball and cry. Her heartbeat drowned out all the noise of her classmates around her. Just the mere thought of someone finding her book made her want to jump into the ocean. Drowning or being eaten by sharks felt easier to deal with than what she thought of to come.
She shut her mouth when she saw Naruto walk into the classroom. He looked at her and she just knew, he had it and must have looked through it. His expression said it all, it couldn't mean anything else. She felt sick. The sudden urge to throw up came over her.
He didn't look away, he smirked? Did he? Was she hallucinating? He definitely knew.
"Hinata?" Tenten waved her hand in front of her face but she was to out of it to pay attention. Jumping up from her seat she bolted out the door. Tenten was about to go after her but stopped when she saw the loud blonde on her tail. That was strange Hinata and Naruto never really talked much. Did she miss something?
...
Naruto had gym class, they ran around the indoor gym to warm up before playing volleyball. He'd gotten a chance to see Sakura in her gym uniform. Short red shorts and a white t-shirt, she was a sight for sore eyes, he was mesmerize by the way her pink hair floated around her.
He'd spend the entire class trying to show off his skills for her. But stupid Sasuke stole the spotlight and scored the most. It was just three point more than him, this pissed him off.
He was even more pissed when Sasuke kept winking at Sakura. Sasuke was the biggest flirt he'd known. Made all the girls blush, but he was picky with the girls he'd hook up with.
After class he went to the locker room to get his stuff and change his clothes. Grumbling under his breath he wanted to wipe that stupid smirk off of Sasuke's face so badly.
That was until Kiba snatched the purple book from his bag. He had forgotten about it. "What's this, a diary? Or a girlfriends diary? Nah you're gay so it's not a girls." He held the book in the air dodging Naruto's attempts to get it.
"Don't be a dick man, give it back, and fuck you." Naruto failed in his attempts.
"Nope, Finders Keepers losers weepers uh." Naruto had tackled him causing him to drop the book. Kiba tried to grab at it again but Naruto blocked him, he yanked his shorts up giving him a wedgie. "Ok OK I give up." Kiba tapped his shoulder rapidly, when Naruto let go he dropped to the floor in pain. Naruto laughed at his friend, most in the locker room laughed.
He snatched the book away from Shikamaru just in time before the curious boy could open it. Shikamaru put his hands up in surrender not wanting the same faith as Kiba. Who was still on the floor. Naruto shoved the book in his bag again but it opened a little in the process. A sketch caught his blue eyes.
He didn't want to, he really didn't.
But curious about that sketch he found himself locked in a bathroom stall opening the book. There were multiple pages of sketches and poems, all about Sasuke. The bad boy of their school. Of course she liked the Uchiha, all the girls did.
Not his Sakura though, he's never seen them hanging out. She didn't seem interested in his stupid 'bad boy' persona.
He couldn't see why a girl like Hyuga would like Sasuke though. She was one of the smarter girls. One that probably looked both ways before crossing the road, keeping in safe. Sasuke was trouble, always getting into fights, always breaking the rules. Hyuga seem more of a conserved girl.
Not wanting to do more damage he stuffed the book in his bag and went to mathematics class.
…
Hinata close the bathroom door and lean her back against the wall. Now someone knew her secret, such a private secret, it was one thing to know she like him.
It was another to know she spent her time drawing and writing poems about him. It was creepy since Sasuke and Neji were friends, and he came to their house all the time.
There were some that were perverted and cringe worthy. Like the one she drew of him in a towel. She'd run into him in the hallways once when he stayed over at theirs. He was indeed in a towel. She'd almost blackout that evening.
Another time he'd acted sweet towards her when he came over early and Neji wasn't home yet. It was only a few minutes together. He had her heart racing that afternoon, she'd wrote the corniest poem about it.
The thought of Sasuke knowing about the book made her want to cry. She'd probably die of embarrassment.
He'd probably be creep out by her? He'd never speak to her again? He'd tell Neji? If Neji found out she'd have to run away from home for sure.
She heard the bathroom door open a bit loudly and heavy footsteps walked in.
"You in here?" It was Naruto, he was walking in front of each stall looking for her.
She held her breath not wanting him around, she hoped he'd leave if she stayed quiet. She needed a few minutes to pull herself together before dealing with the problem.
He must have peep under the stalls because he slowly pushed the door open to where she was.
There eyes met and his expression soften when he looked at her. She was certain she looked like a deer caught in headlights.
She felt like one, with eyes wide and breath ragged. She felt cornered, with him blocking her only path to escape.
"Hey Hyuga, you dropped this earlier in the hallway." He pulled out the book from his bag to hand her, she grabbed it and held it to her chest protectively.
She could've acted like it wasn't hers but that could lead to more trouble. It was best to just face this head on and try to lessen the damage.
"D-did you look in?" She was certain he did, his guilty expression said it all.
"No...I...well...I didn't mean to look." He held his hands up in defence. But that didn't do much for him as she glared.
Her expression hardened from a victim to the attacker. Naruto actually got chills from this, he took a step back when her hand tightens around the book.
"You're such a jerk, how could you look." Her glare intensified, he was surprise at her tone of voice. How could her soft voice from earlier sound so deadly.
She felt exposed, no one knew about her book, not even Tenten. Her vulnerability had quickly turned to defence, she had to fix this.
"Do I have to pay you to pretend you didn't see anything?" She knew how her peers were or how some of them could be. Blackmailing, manipulative, vindictive, evil people.
"What, no, I'm not here to blackmail you, what the frig Hyuga, seriously you think I'm a asshole." He looked offended by her words. She felt a little bad but wasn't certain if she could trust Naruto.
She knew him from their classes together. He was always making jokes and laughing with everyone.
He was know to be a good friend, from what she's heard, he did pull pranks a lot. She didn't know how he'd be towards her. They weren't friends.
They never really talked. She could count all their interactions on one hand. And she bet he couldn't remember any of them.
"Do you even know my name, stop calling me Hyuga." She raised her voice annoyed at him. She knew he didn't. Nobody called her Hinata besides Tenten and Sasuke. She'd learn to accept it because no matter how much she corrected people they'd forget and still call her by her last name. It was still very annoying.
"You're names Hyuga isn't it." He said matter-of-factly, he was right but he knew what she meant. He was being difficult on purpose.
"Jerk." She rolled her eyes at him.
"Do you even know mines?" He said rolling his eyes at her. He felt bad that he didn't know her first name. He felt worst that he only knew her sir name because of Neji.
She knew what he was doing, but it wasn't going to work.
"Yes Naruto, we have a lot of classes together." She wished she didn't know him, give him a taste of his own medicine. But she knew all her classmates and their names. She wasn't surprised people knew her as Hyuga, and that was only because of Neji.
"I know, look I'm sorry, I'm just trying to return your book." He did look genuine when he said this. Naruto was still annoying to her, he looked in her book when he didn't even know her first name. He knew one her deepest secret an he couldn't even say her name.
"After you looked at it." She mumbles under her breath. She kind of wanted to flush the book down the toilet, soak it in the face sink until it bled ink. Get rid of the evidence, her shame.
"That's not fair, I didn't, it was an accident." He protested, he wanted her to understand he didn't mean to invade her privacy like he did. It was a honest mistake. It was human nature to be curious, it got the better of him when he was trying to do the right thing.
Nobody else would've returned it, or defend it the way he did against Kiba. He was doing good, he needed her to see that.
"Yeah right, whatever." She was done, she just wanted to take her book back to class, that they were missing right now. Great she wasn't one to miss class. It was Naruto fault.
"Wait, ok listen, I like Sakura, I can't draw like you, you're amazing by the way, I'm not poetic like you, but I do notice her hair styles or when she cuts it even just a little. Or how she goes crazy when she's passionate about something. I know how it is ok. I'd draw her or write poems about her if I could, but I can't. So please forgive me and let's start over." Naruto looked at her, he could see a change in her face.
Hinata was a bit taken aback by his confession, he just spilled his secret to her so casually. She wasn't surprised he like Sakura, one of the pretty, popular girls at their school. She had half the school drooling over her.
"But that look you gave me was, judging and seemed blackmail ish." She sounded unsure.
"No I was just trying to figure out if it was really yours, don't worry I wouldn't tell a soul. Or you could tell people what I said just now." Naruto stepped a little closer wanting to rest his hand on her shoulder but he didn't. He was a physical person, he wasn't sure if she was.
"Ok, fine, deal." She caved, she couldn't stay mad at people for long, she didn't like drama, and she could tell he was being genuine. She just wanted to be done with this. It was good that Naruto seemed to want it over with too.
"Ok good." Naruto smiled in relief to be on her good side. He didn't know why her being mad at him was bugging him so much. Then again he didn't want Neji on his ass. And he did feel bad for invading her privacy.
"It's Hinata." She found herself saying with a small smile.
"Huh?" Naruto asked confused, before it could properly sink in what she was saying she spoke again to clarify.
"My name is Hinata." She chuckled lightly. Hinata unsure about what else to say or do she began walking away, out the girls wash-room she waved at him. "See you around. Uzumaki."
"See ya, Hinata." He grin feeling good about himself, all the guilt gone now.
"Ew Naruto you pervert." Ino turned her nose up at him, he was confused why she was scolding him. "Get out of here." She shoved at him pushing him out. Then he realized he was still in the ladies room.
