Chapter 34 – Get Boosted

Rainbow Dash growled as she came upon another dead end, this one looked as if one of the cliffs had crumbled away and filled the path with its debris. "Horse Feathers!" she said to herself as she turned around.

"I'm not sure there is a way over there from here." Breeze said as he kept his eyes open for any kind of path.

"There's gotta be." she said, and turned back onto her original path, "The ones that actually got through said there were many different paths."

"So, you're thinking that since they connect at the end, there has to be a connection somewhere along this route." her gunner said.

"There just has to be." she said, nearly pleading with herself.

Suddenly, the two of them could see another set of blasts shoot up into the sky, a set almost right next to them. "That must be Honor and Chivalry." Breeze said, "And I could hear the blast shots, they must be just on the other side of this wall."

"Well, do you think that the Stun Canon would get through the wall?" she asked as she turned the ship to the wall.

"No," Breeze said, "There's really no impact to do it."

"What about the Flame Wing?" she asked.

"Flame Wing?" he inquired.

"Yeah. The stream of fire when we flap our wings." the pegasus explained.

"Well, maybe. We'd have to find a really thin wall for it to work though." Breeze told her.

"Well, what can we do?" she asked.

"Just keep going I guess." Breeze said and watched as she turned back to the path. It wasn't long until another path presented itself to her on the side she needed to go down. Slowly, she followed it, careful to keep her eyes open as she made her way down, and suddenly found a path to her right, one that opened up to a straight shot right to the final gate and the only two ships that had made it, Silver Blitz and Honor Guard.

"There they are." she said as she smiled, and turned to line herself up for the race. Suddenly, one of the walls to her right shattered, collapsing to rubble as a giant ship came into view ahead of her. Breeze and Rainbow were both shocked to say the least, the giant ship had broken through the wall with very little damage to its hull and now it turned in the same direction as Rainbow before taking off at a high speed.

"GET MOVING DASHIE!" Breeze shouted, snapping Rainbow Dash out of her shock to get her to push her throttles as hard as she could. The boost given by the lighter ship quickly closed the gap, leaving them just a few feet behind the much larger ship as the two of them raced for the finish line. The blasts from the cannons on the Sunik ship began, Breeze stopping each of them as he pinpointed each shot, "I can't get a clear shot at their shields, not without putting us at risk." he told her.

"Well, we are behind them." She said and leaned forward to bite down on the trigger in front of her, the front grills of the ship shined in the same color as Rainbow's Stun Bolts, and after a few seconds, a large blast of energy shot forth, colliding with the shields of the Sunik ship, and for the first time since the races had started, their shields shattered. "It worked!" she shouted in glee. Her smile fell when once again, the engines of the Sunik ship lit up brighter than before, and they quickly pulled away.

"They have a Turbo?" Breeze asked in surprise.

"No…" Rainbow said as she could feel the confidence slip from her.

Back in the garage, Tusks slammed his fists into the desk, "Is this really all that it can do {snort}?" he asked in defeat.

"This can't be," Pilit said, "This can't be its top speed."

Rainbow Dash gritted her teeth in frustration, "I'm not letting them beat me again." she growled as Breeze tried to keep any bolts from the Sunik ship from actually hitting them, "I can't let them hurt my friends."

"I can't get ahold of Syls or Honor." Breeze said, "Neither one of them is picking up."

"I'm not gonna let you hurt them." Rainbow said and somehow, she began to glow faintly. The cyan light traveled from her, and through the cables of her controls across the seams of the outside of the ship and finally through the cables leading to the B336. The engine began to hum loudly and pushed the glow through the cables in the back leading to the jets.

"What's going on?" Twilight asked in shock, getting everyone in the room to look at the screen with surprise.

"I'm gonna stop you." Rainbow said, and the wings of her ship folded together, flattening themselves to the sides of her ship, "YOU WON'T GET AWAY!" she shouted, and the wings lit up, all seven of the jets in the back shifting colors to create a rainbow contrail and the machine doubled in speed. A ring of colors erupted from the point where her speed increased, a sonic Rainboom erupting from the machine's trail as they sailed in closing the gap, with a split-second decision, Rainbow once again bit down on the trigger in front of her, firing the blast of concentrated energy right into the Sunik ship, once again dispersing a shield before Breeze, in hast and confusion, shot the ship's hull, shutting down several of the thrusters, causing the giant ship to veer a little to the side letting the Rainbow Trail pass them before the two ships crossed the finish line, the Rainbow Trail just seconds before the giant ship.

Honor and Syls looked up after the Rainboom had gone off, the shock wave colliding with them and shifting them away from the middle of the track, allowing Rainbow Dash, glowing from power, to pass right by and slow down. The Suniks, due to some of their thrusters being nonfunctional, were forced to come to a slow stop, the pilot growling in rage as he slammed his fists into the console.

Breeze stayed there, in his seat, and somehow found his grin stretching from ear to ear, "THAT WAS AMAZING!" he called out and opened the hatch to the outside. With swift movements and a few Air Flash's, he made his way to the windshield of the Rainbow Trail, "You did it, R.D. You beat that guy and saved our friends." He continued looking into the cockpit, and his smile fell into a concerned frown, "Rainbow?" he asked. She lay there, hooves on the controls, wings lip in their controls, and her head hung down eyes closed and resting her chin on the trigger of the Stun Canon. "Rainbow Dash!" he called out.

"What's wrong?" Syls asked as she exited her ship.

"She's out cold!" Breeze shouted in concern. Syls looked shocked, while Tris turned to her coms to get ahold of Tusk's garage. Breeze used his magic to press the button to open the cockpit, and jumped in. He felt her pulse with his nose, and breathed a sigh of relief, "She's only asleep." he said.

"Was she tired or something?" Syls asked as she climbed into the Cockpit as well.

"No, but whatever she did to get that speed boost took enough out of her to make her fall asleep." he reiterated.

It took some time, but the team was able to get Rainbow Dash back to the garage. Blade carefully maneuvering the Rainbow Trail Mk.2 back in to do a checkup while the blue pegasus slept. "Well, the condenser plate is fried." he said, getting the attention of Breeze.

"What does that mean?" he asked.

"It means we found the limit to her new Stun Canon, it's two shots and then the energy condenser plate gets fried." his brother explained.

"Can you find another one?" Breeze asked.

"We still have plenty." Writch said, "We've been planning this thing since day one of working together."

"Lucky us." Breeze said.

"But remember, we can't come out to the tracks to make quick repairs like this, so it's two shots and you're done with the canon. No more for that race." Blade said, trying to drill it into his brother's head.

"Two shots got it." Breeze said and turned his head, glancing down the hallway where Rainbow Dash had been taken.

"She'll be fine Breeze." they all heard Pinkie Pie say, "This is Rainbow Dash, she'll be up and racing in no time."

"I hope you're right Pinkie." he said.
