I leaned forward with both of my cheeks resting in my hands, sitting on one of the benches at the de Sainte-Coquille square; my best friend sitting next to me. He was grounded for a long time, and though his parents haven't chosen his whole punishment, he wasn't allowed to be out; unless it was to go to school. I kept telling him to go home before his parents found out, but he refused. Saying he wouldn't leave me alone in my time of need.

"Why did this have to happen?" I asked as he hugged me tightly, tears began to form in my eyes before falling onto the concrete.

"I can't even tell my parents." I confessed in a whisper as he leaned forward to match his eyes to my eye level.

"Do you…want me to come with you?" he asked as I shook my head.

"I'm sure you've been through enough with your parents. I don't want you to go through that again with my parents." I replied wiping tears from my face.

"Be lucky we have Ms. Mana's class today." He said as he helped me up, leading me to the academy. We took our usual seats, waiting for the rest of our classmates. Leonel leaned over towards me and said in a whisper.

"Remember, you're not alone. I'm here for you!" Giving one of his sweet smiles. Sheesh if I were meeting him for the first time, I would still assume that he was a girl! Or at least gay…I made a snort sound trying to hide my laughter as Leonel tipped his head to the side, furrowing his brow.

"Wh-what's so funny?" he asked, I just shook my head and waved my hand, gesturing for him to ignore me. The classroom door opened as Ms. Mana stepped in, with Leann and Orland trailing behind her; they took their seats as Ms. Mana stood in front of the class. In her usual sing-song voice she exclaimed "Good Morning, class!" Wow. Ms. Mana is never sad it seems! At least, I've never seen her upset, but then again…her life's probably been perfect. The only flaw she deals with is her overprotective father; but next to that, she didn't have to deal with an unprepared pregnancy like I do.

The bell rang, as the school's yard was flooded with teenagers, I took a left walking slowly to my house, trying to gather up my courage. I had to tell them! I shouldn't hesitate any longer. The longer I wait, the more difficult it'll become to tell them. I grabbed the knob, but before I could twist it, I overheard my parents and Barrett arguing; I let go of the knob to listen.

"Wh-what do you mean my daughter is pregnant?!" Dad's voice boomed.

"Sh-she didn't tell…" but before Barrett could finish.

"AND BY YOUR SON?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND, BARRETT!"

"Wh-what does this have to do with me?! I didn't tell my son to screw your daughter! But the situation is very familiar, isn't it?" Barrett snapped.

"Don't you DARE!" Dad exclaimed.

"P-please, can't we just…calm down?" Mom asked with a shake in her voice.

"Oh, I'll calm down…AS SOON AS I BEAT YOUR KID INTO A PULP, BARRETT!" The front door swung open as I saw my dad's raging eyes.

"Get inside, Clara! I'll deal with you later." he commanded.

"W-wait, dad!" I said.

"Inside NOW, Clara!" I have seen dad mad before, but never this mad! It was like his eyes could shoot fire with his glare! Mom placed her arm around me and led me inside. I didn't know what to do or say, but I knew I was scared. Barrett had left in an attempt to stop dad.

"Wait here." Mom ordered with a sigh as she walked back outside.

"JACK!" Mom's voice called as my eyes widened, "GET IN HERE, NOW! WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THIS LIKE CIVILIZED INDIVIDUALS!" Did…did my mom just get super scary angry ? I have never in my life heard her shriek in a tone like that. I blinked, waiting for another sign. I wanted to leave, but, honestly, I was too scared to leave the house now after hearing mom scream like that.

A few seconds later the front door opened as mom stepped in, dragging dad in by the ear.

"Ow! Okay, Rosalind! Okay! I'll do whatever you say! Just let go of my ear!" Mom pulled him straight to the dining room and sat him on the chair. Dad rubbed his ear, as mom looked over towards me. I took the hint and immediately rushed towards the dining room, taking a seat in the chair in front of dad. I didn't want to make mom mad too!

"Whenever you're ready to explain yourself, Clara." Mom said in a calm tone as I felt my face go white.

"Wh-what is there to explain, Rosalind?" Dad asked as mom shot him a glare, causing him to tighten his lips together.

"N-no, dad's right!" I said, "There isn't really a good explanation for my situation. Except that the reason it took so long to clean up after Leonel's birthday party was because…" I sunk down into my chair "We weren't cleaning up the whole time after the party." I squeaked, as I noticed my dad's eye twitching in anger.

"Well, there's really nothing we can do, now." Mom said as dad became flustered.

"Wh-how can you be so calm, Rosa…okay I'll shut up, now." Dad said the last sentence with slight fear as I noticed mom glaring daggers at him again.

"Anyway, Barrett said he'll be back here with Leonel around four to discuss visitations. Which means that I want you on your best behavior, Jack!" Mom said sternly as I heard dad gulp.

Time seemed to go by slowly as we waited for four in silence. The clock read 4:16 PM as a knock rapped on the front door.

"I'll get it." mom announced, as she hoisted herself from her chair, causing dad, who was starting to get out of his seat, to sit back down and pout. Mom peeked through the peephole before opening the door.

"Hello, Barrett, Leonel! Please, come in!" Mom stepped to the side, allowing them to enter our house. I noticed Leonel was blushing and I couldn't really blame him. This was super embarrassing for me as well. They took a seat at the dining table, Leonel taking a seat next to me. His face turned white, as I noticed he had locked eyes with my dad in front of him, dad giving him murderous glares.

"Best behavior, dear." I overheard mom mumble to him through gritted teeth while walking past to take a seat next to him as dad's eyes widened and his face turned white.

There was a long moment of awkward silence before Barrett broke it.

"So, when are you due?" he asked, I looked over towards him and blinked.

"Uh, due?" I asked, confused.

"Uh, yes…when are you supposed to give birth?" My eyes widened at Barrett's question; I hadn't a clue of when I was supposed to pop a baby out of me.

"I…I don't know…" I stuttered, blushing slightly. Barrett laced his fingers and pressed them on his lips in a thinking manner, turning his attention towards my parents..

"Do you think you should take her to see Natalie or Ray?"

"Yes, they would probably be able to answer the question of when the baby will come." Mom answered.

"I'll ask Dorothy to make an appointment." Barrett said as mom nodded.

"Yes, thank you, Barrett. Please, let us know of any of the days and times that will work for her." Mom said. There was another moment of silence.

"We can discuss visitation matters after the appointment." Barrett began, "Come on, Leonel…it's getting late." Barrett lifted himself from his seat as Leonel did the same. Barrett began leading Leonel towards the door.

"Uh, wait!" Leonel said, rushing back towards me. He stopped in front of me and began wringing his hands.

"W-would it…be okay if I…c-came with you to the appointment?" He asked with a blushed face, pushing a strand of hair behind his ear.

"I don't see why not." I answered with a shrug, his lips curled into the goofiest smile.

"I-I'll see you at school tomorrow." he said, giving me a wave, before leaving with his dad.

"Open flower field, butterflies fluttering all around. The calming sound of a nearby waterfall." I looked over towards dad who was saying all of that in a tense manner.

"Uh…what did he…" but before I could finish my question, mom wrapped her arms around my shoulders affectionately.

"Le-let's just leave your father to his thoughts." she said, as she led me towards the stairs.

"Skippity skip through the flowers."
