Chapter 8: The Legend of the Invasion of Hyrule
Kirby, Snake, Bandana Dee, King Dedede, and the Duck Hunt Dog and Duck had wound up in the jungle-like biome of Faron after their escape from Dreamland. Snake led the group through the trees and vines as he was the most experienced in this case.
"Ugh! Are we there yet? I'm tired!" King Dedede complained. "Quiet penguin! You may be a king, but you ain't my king," Snake said who was annoyed as it was the 50th time King Dedede asked that question. "So, Mister Snake. What's the plan?" Bandana Dee asked. "Well first of all, call me Snake. Second, we're going to get through this jungle and find supplies. We might stay here awhile if that star of yours doesn't recharge or any spaceship doesn't come, if they're friendly anyway," Snake said. The dog barked and the duck quacked.
Snake looked at a tablet he had and it seemed to be leading him. "Once we get through this, we should be able to see exactly where we're dealing with," Snake said. "Finally! Maybe get some grub cause I'm starving!" King Dedede yelled. "Quiet!" Snake chastised. Snake cut the vines and leaves and they finally made it to a point where they could see the entire land. Snake looked. "You gotta be kidding me," Snake said. "What?" Bandana Dee asked, "Whoa." Everyone looked at the land and witnessed the giant land of Hyrule. "Huh? I don't see why you complained," Bandana Dee said. "Well, look at that," Snake said as he looked at the castle in the distance. "Hey! Why do they have a better castle than me?" King Dedede asked. "We're in the medieval times! The worst place for us to be in. These people are famously paranoid," Snake said.
Snake laid down a pack with some of his gadgets and he grabbed a set of goggles that also allowed him to hear from afar. "I love the spy motif by the way," Bandana Dee said. "Thanks," Snake said. Snake looked ahead and scouted the area. "Let's see," he said. He looked and looked until something caught his eyes… or more like his ears. "Come on Link! Impa! Let's move it!" yelled straight into Snake's ears. "Argh!" Snake yelped as he quickly lowered the volume.
Snake noticed the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, quickly running towards what seems to be a village. She was running so fast that Link couldn't keep up with her, and he was on horse. "Come on! We must take this gem to Purah! It's a discovery we must undertake immediately!" Zelda yelled. "Hm," Snake mumbled as he took a closer look at the Convergence Crystal Zelda had. "Princess!" Impa yelled as she chased her, "Slow down!"
Snake took off his goggles. "Alright, looks like I know where to go next," Snake said. "Where? Cause I don't want to walk anymore," King Dedede said. "It seems I found the princess of this place. I think it's a good idea to start civilly with her, at least so the knights don't kill us with a guillotine," Snake said. "And if that doesn't work?" Bandana Dee asked. "Then we'll hide in a cave as outcasts of society," Snake said.
It was night as the group hid in the bushes by a trail. "Why do we have to hide here?" King Dedede asked. "Quiet," Snake whispered, "We're gonna wait till the princess comes so we can talk to her." "And what if she doesn't come through?" Bandana Waddle-Dee asked. "Shh," Snake shushed.
In the path, Zelda, Impa and Link were walking through. Zelda held some parchments and was looking further into the Sheikah Slate with pictures of the Convergence Crystal. "It definitely held great amounts of energy. Although it seems that it does fry most of the Sheikah tech, so if we upgrade the tech then maybe it could adapt to the energy," Zelda mumbled. "The Princess sure loves her research," Impa said. Link nodded.
"Alright, all of you stay here while I go negotiate," Snake whispered. He looked and noticed someone was missing. "Where's the pink one? Kirby?" he asked. Snake and everyone looked around until the dog pointed and everyone saw that Kirby was now in the middle of the trail, ahead of Zelda, Link and Impa. "Well, I say things are going great," King Dedede said sarcastically in a whisper. "Quiet," Snake said.
"And so, I am not sure how the new energy devices will be made. Maybe if we add-" Zelda said but stopped as she tripped on top of Kirby. "Princess! You okay?" Impa asked. Link ran ahead. Zelda sat in the dirt and then stood up to wipe it off her clothes. "Yes. I am fine, but what did I trip on?" she asked. She, Impa, and Link looked, initially thinking it was a round pink rock until Kirby stood up. Kirby turned around. "Poyo!" he said excitedly with a wave.
"We're dead," Snake whispered. "Wait. Maybe Kirby's got this. After all, cuteness works 90% of the time," Bandana Dee said. "I'm way cuter than Kirby," King Dedede mumbled. "Shut up," Snake whispered.
"What is this?" Zelda asked as she poked Kirby in the forehead. "It is quite adorable," Zelda said, "Although its squishy structure means it's likely not a Goron child." "Princess, shouldn't we be concerned? We don't even know what it is," Impa said. "K-k-Kirby!" Kirby said.
"See, it is called a Kirby," Zelda said. "I think we should also be concerned that it can talk, well at least say some words anyway," Impa said.
"Alright, send the dog," Snake whispered. The dog tilted his head. The dog ran outside and jumped on Kirby and licked him, making Kirby giggle.
"Well look at that. The dog seems to be fond of it," Zelda said. "Where did that dog come from?" Impa asked. The duck also came out of the bush and quacked. "And now there's a duck," Impa said.
"Okay, do you think that the cuteness factor worked yet?" Snake asked. "Yeah, I think so," Bandana Dee said. "Good, cause I'm coming out now!" King Dedede exclaimed. "Wait!" Snake yelled.
Too late. King Dedede had jumped out of the bush and onto the trail where everyone could see him. "That's one fat Rito," Impa said with her eyes wide with shock. "Hey! Who ya callin' fat?" King Dedede asked, "Greetings Princess! I am the esteemed royal king of Dreamland, King Dedede!" "Who?" Zelda asked. "Wow, rude. Maybe I'll declare war-" King Dedede said. "No! No! Just shut up penguin!" Snake exclaimed as he came out with Bandana Dee. "Excuse my accomplice here," Snake said.
Link pulled out the Master Sword and Impa pulled out her kudachi. "Alright, who are all of you and why shouldn't we imprison you in the dungeons?" Impa asked. "Calm down. Just call me Snake. You see, we were hoping we could get some help," Snake said. "Help with what?" Zelda asked. "Well, you see…" Snake said.
Snake recapped everything that's happened to them. Zelda, Link, and Impa were shocked. "You rode on a star?" Impa asked. "Yes, it sounds crazy, but it is all true," Snake said. "It doesn't really sound crazy to me," Bandana Dee said. "How did that talk without a mouth?" Impa asked. "I find that offensive," Bandana Dee said. "So what is it you need?" Zelda asked. "Refuge, supplies. Maybe a way to get off this planet," Snake said. "Well I'm not sure about that last option, but perhaps we can arrange something in the castle," Zelda said.
"Princess, may I speak to you for a second," Impa said. She took Impa into a bit in the bush while Link was left with the others. "So, big guy. What's your hobby?" Bandana Dee asked. Link tilted his head in question. Impa spoke with Zelda, "Princess, how can you be sure we can trust them. Their story is crazy. What if they work with the Yiga?" "Well, it's a feeling I have. I'm not sure what, but I think they were brought here for a reason," Zelda said. "I don't know. I don't like this," Impa said. "Do not worry Impa. I'll make sure I'll have guards to watch over them if they cause anything worth of suspicion," Zelda said. Impa inhaled and exhaled deeply. "Just be careful," Impa said as she knew she couldn't convince Zelda otherwise.
Everyone was allowed a place to stay at Hyrule Castle, with guards outside their door. "Hey! I am a king! I deserve a top of the line room!" King Dedede complained. "Shut up! You ain't a king here," Snake scolded, "We appreciate the room." Zelda nodded.
It was morning in Hyrule. Zelda had come in with some breakfast. Then he asked the group to join her out in the courtyard. "Ma'am, what exactly are we doing here?" Bandana Dee asked.
Out of nowhere, a shadow flew above them. The silhouette of a bird flew above them, then as it descended they realized it was a bird person. "Apologies, but as you know I am always the first," he said. "Everyone, this is the Champion of the Rito, Revali," Zelda introduced. "Ah, I see I have an audience today," Revali said boastfully. "Why does he seem to be very punchable?" Snake asked in a whisper. "Maybe because he is," Bandana Dee whispered.
The ground shook as a boulder, seemingly made of magma rolled in. Then it was revealed to be a mighty creature with a white beard and skin tough as rock. "Ah ha!" he yelled out with his deep voice. "Who's the Rocky here?" Bandana Dee asked. "Why little guy?!" he yelled. "Girl," Bandana Dee said. "Oh. Sorry. Well I am the Mighty Daruk! Champion of the Goron!" he yelled. The Duck Hunt dog barked. Suddenly Daruk froze and became an icy form of pale. The Duck Hunt barked again. "AH!" he screamed as he cowered and used his shield ability. "Oh. I forgot about that," Zelda said.
"So, the big guy is afraid of dogs? Who would've thought of that," Snake commented. Suddenly lightning struck beside Snake, and a woman appeared. She was a sort of desert warrior. "Says the oddly dressed one who's afraid of a little lightning," she said. "I'm not afraid. Just startled," Snake said. "He He He! You were so scared," King Dedede laughed. "Shut up!" Snake scolded. The desert woman laughed. "I am Lady Urbosa. Champion of the Gerudo," she said, "And it's a pleasure to meet all of you."
"It is also a pleasure," said a gentle voice. "Hey! She looks like she could be related to Kine," Bandana Dee said. Kirby nodded. "I am Mipha. Champion of the Zora," she said. Then all the Champions, including Link, went up and did a cool pose. "Cool," Bandana Dee said. "These are all the Champions of Hyrule. They will aid in defeating the Calamity Ganon when it returns," Zelda said. "What's a Calamity Ganon? And please tell me that's a special Ice Cream cone," Snake said. Kirby salivated. "What's an Ice Cream cone?" Impa asked. "Are you serious?" Snake asked.
Right when Zelda was about to explain, out of nowhere came a bunch of smoke that surrounded everyone. "What is this?!" Urbosa yelled as she and the other Champions grabbed their weapons. Link immediately grabbed his sword and kept Zelda behind him. As the smoke cleared, Yiga Clan soldiers surrounded everyone. "Yiga. Of course," Urbosa said. Leading the Yiga was the top dog, Master Kohga. "Kohga? I thought you disappeared?" Impa questioned. "When did this happen?" Zelda asked. "Shortly before I found you. I was going to tell you but you did kinda run off," Impa said. "Hello! Are you ignoring me?!" Master Kohga yelled. "Kohga! Must you always intrude!" Urbosa yelled. "Of course! It's the only way Lord Ganondorf can accomplish his destiny!" Master Kohga yelled. "Ganondorf?" Zelda questioned. "Now! All of you are going to die!" Master Kohga yelled. He then noticed Snake, Kirby, Bandana Dee, King Dedede, and the Duck Hunt Dog and Duck. "Hey! Who are the new guys? Doesn't matter! Kill them!" Master Kohga ordered.
The Yiga soldiers all charged in. "Can you fight?" Revali asked. "Yeah. Why?" Snake asked. "Because I don't want to pick up your slack," Revali said as he flew up. "Can I just punch him? Please?" Snake asked. The Yiga caused some smoke, leaving an opportunity for Snake.
Mipha held off some Yiga when Bandana Dee came in and poked the Yiga away. "You have skill with that spear," Mipha said. "Thanks! You too!" Bandana Dee yelled. The Duck Hunt Dog bit one of the Yiga in the ass while the Duck pecked at the Yiga's head. While Daruk kept his distance from the dog, he still smashed some of the Yiga away. Revali rained arrows from above and even with the smoke his shots were still precise.
King Dedede spun around, smashing many of the Yiga as Impa threw some kudachi straight into the Yiga. Link kept striking down some Yiga while guarding Zelda. "What?! No! Stop winning!" Master Kohga yelled. Master Kohga noticed a cardboard box behind him. "Huh. Maybe there's a secret ultimate weapon in here!" Master Kohga yelled. Suddenly the box opened and Snake came out. "Got ya!" Snake yelled as he grabbed Master Kohga. "What?! Let go!" Master Kohga yelled. Kirby charged in. "Ha! Like that thing will hurt me," Master Kohga scoffed. Kirby kicked Master Kohga so hard that it sent him to a wall.
"OW! WHY DID THAT HURT SO MUCH?!" Master Kohga screamed. The Yiga numbers dwindled until the heroes outnumbered them. Then a bunch of knights were coming down the stairs. "It's over Kohga!" Urbosa yelled, "Now you must face the consequences of your crimes!" Master Kohga stood up and cracked his back, "(ow, that hurt). Oh! You think it is over! It's not over until Lord Ganondorf says so!" he yelled.
The knights were coming down the stairs, weapons ready until suddenly a loud roar was heard. A beam shot out from the sky and blasted the knights directly. "No!" Zelda yelled. "What was that?!" Snake yelled. "I don't know," Impa said. Master Kohga laughed maniacally as a giant winged creature flew through the sky. "That's not a Rito," Revali said. "That thing. It's almost the size of a Divine Beast," Zelda said.
Landing on Hyrule Castle was a giant dragon with a serpentine tail. It had giant claws and its scales were metallic. It inhaled in and yelled a loud screech into the air. It looked towards the Champions. Revali flew up and shot arrows at it, but the arrows couldn't penetrate the scales. "It's tough!" Revali yelled. Urbosa snapped her fingers and summoned lightning but it did nothing towards the creature. The creature yelled and flew up, causing a large breeze that pushed everyone back.
"What is this thing?!" Impa yelled. From the castle, it seemed to talk. It had an eerie, raspy voice. "The crystal. Find the crystal!" it yelled. "The crystal?" Snake questioned. "No. I know what they're looking for," Zelda said. She went up to Revali, "Revali! Get to Purah's lab and get the crystal there," she said. "I suppose I am the fastest," Revali said. Revali flew up and headed towards Purah's lab.
Bandana Dee threw a spear at the dragon. "Ha! Take that!" Bandana Dee yelled. "Good job!" King Dedede said. "No! This is bad!" Impa yelled. "How?" King Dedede asked. The dragon suddenly landed in front of them as Master Kohga approached. "Ha! Lord Ganondorf sent him!" Master Kohga yelled. "Remember your place Kohga!" the dragon scolded. "Yes, Lord Ridley," Master Kohga said. "Ridley. So that's your name," Snake said. "Yes, and it will be the last thing you hear," Ridley said. Ridley charged up and shot a beam out from his mouth. Link stood at front with his sword and held the beam back.
"Go! Go! Link won't be able to hold him back!" Impa yelled. "Oh no you don't!" Master Kohga yelled as he charged ahead. Urbosa charged and held him back. Ridley stopped shooting his beam and that pushed Link back. Ridley raised his tail and aimed it towards Zelda. Daruk came in front of Zelda and used his protection barrier. A claw then went straight for Link and Mipha came in to stop the claw. "Go! We'll deal with these monsters!" Urbosa yelled. "Hey! That's a little rude," Master Kohga said. Link was about to charge in. "Not today Little Guy! You need to protect the Princess!" Daruk yelled. Link gasped and realized what he needed to do next. Mipha then spoke to Zelda, "He'll take care of you. Just make sure you take care of him." "No! Wait!" Zelda yelled.
Link grabbed Zelda's arm and along with Impa ran. "Alright. This should cover us," Snake said. Snake threw some smoke grenades and was able to mask them. Everyone who was left ran into a forest where they could be safe for a while. At that moment, Revali had flown back and found them with the Convergence Crystal in his talons. "I have retrieved it, but I saw the mess from up there. We won't have much time," he said. "We must get it away from Hyrule. We cannot let it fall into their hands," Zelda said as she held it. "Okay, but where exactly will we go?" Bandana Dee asked.
Suddenly, the crystal began humming and shining brightly. "What's happening?" Snake asked. The crystal shined a blinding light that all of sudden made everyone along with it disappear. Ridley flew over the forest and found no one and roared in anger.
Link awoke in a space away from anything that seemed familiar to him. He looked around and only saw a bright light trailing its path towards something. Kirby awoke in a similar space, as well as only seeing the bright light leading towards something. They too only saw seven other lights leading towards the same direction. Then suddenly, everything turned dark, and they awoke witnessing the stars above them.
