"What are you two doing here?" asked Lauren while looking at her parents with a shocked expression.
"We came to apologize," said Mr. Peterson.
"A lot has been happening since you left home and we now realize how wrong we were for the way we treated you," said Mrs. Peterson. As the two spoke, there was no doubt from their expressions that they were truly remorseful.
"Oh come on, you two can't honestly accept her for being like this," said Emma's mother while motioning at Lauren.
"It's not natural!" she said.
"Neither is hating your child no matter the reason," said Emma who along with Vivian moved to stand with Lauren and Kate. Mr. Black then came up with some police officers.
"This is the woman, officers," said Mr. Black while pointing at Emma's mother.
"What are you doing?!" asked Emma's mother as she was put in cuffs.
"You're under arrest for trespassing and public disturbance," said an officer while leading her away through the crowd of onlookers who cheered as she was dragged off to the parking lot.
"Are you alright?" asked Vivian to Emma.
"Thanks to you," said Emma while hugging her.
"Were you two telling the truth when you said you were here to apologize?" asked Lauren as she approached her parents but kept some distance between them just in case something happened.
"Yes," said Mrs. Peterson.
"After you left things got hard for us, so we went to a support group for parents of gay kids," said Mr. Peterson.
"And it was there that we learned so much and realized that how we reacted was not right," he said, sadness setting into his expression while looking down at the ground.
"I still don't know if I can trust you, so I'm not going home with you and I'm planning to still go through with the plan that I have for after camp," said Lauron.
"But I'll give you another chance in my new life," she said.
"Whatever you want to do," said Mrs. Peterson.
"Alright, with all of this out of the way, let's get back to having a good time," said Mr. Black, getting everyone to separate.
