Chapter 61 – The Thoughts of Another

The seven racers stood perfectly still, each facing the others as they made a conference circle. "Wait." the green haired Treeopon asked, "How did we all get here? Last thing I did was travel through one of the memories from my old races."

"We just went through a memory as well." Syls said, "The four of us were kinda stuck for a whole at what to do."

"Wait." Honor said, "You took others into your memory?"

"Well, yeah!" Syls said, "Rainbow Dash and Breeze were a big help in the last memory."

"Nice!" the red-haired pilot asked, "That means everyone here can see…"

"DON'T YOU DARE!" his gunner shouted, "You already brought us through that embarrassing memory three times!"

"Wait, you can repeat your memories?" Sselekk asked.

"Yeah." the pilot answered, "Just gotta think about em."

"That means you can select what memory to travel through as well as take others with you." the Hylop thought out loud.

"If that's the case, then does that mean we have to go through a specific memory in order to finish the race?" Chivalry asked.

"But which memory are we supposed to use?" Krisskkil asked.

"It has to be something really important if that's the case." Tris said, "One we all have a big part in."

"Why is that?" the Sunik female gunner asked.

"We were able to interact with our memory." she responded, "If it weren't for Rainbow Dash someone innocent would have been hurt bad."

Throughout this, the blue pegasus had been thinking. Everyone had made a point, the memory they had to choose had to be important, so important in fact that it had to trump all other memories. Suddenly a thought popped into her head, "What if the memory we need, isn't any of our own?" she asked.

This caught all others by surprise, "What do you mean?" Honor asked.

"Breeze do you still have that recording from the secret track we took last time?" she asked.

"Oh yeah!" Syls and Tris said at the same time.

"Is that what we missed?" one of the other pilots asked.

"It's what you destroyed." Krisskkil said as he looked to his pilot.

"I…" Sselekk began to say, and then thought about his response, "Wasn't exactly thinking straight." he finished.

"I'm gonna send you all a file, just watch the video." Rainbow Dash informed them, "I think we all have to be on the same page for this."

"Wait, but I brought you into my memory without you knowing about it." Syls said.

"I have a feeling that the more ponies…or aliens know about this memory, the better." the blue pegasus said, "If this works, then we'll need to be ready."

"What are you thinking little creature?" Sselkk asked.

"She's a pony." Krisskkil suddenly said, surprising his pilot, "Her name is Rainbow Dash, and she too is my friend. I wish you would stop treating her like an enemy."

Sselkk stayed quiet for a spell, thinking, and then turned to his gunner, "She is an enemy of the empire, she seeks to thwart the grand plan." he said, and when he saw Krisskkil's face fall, he added, "However, 'Pony' is her race, therefore I will address her by that title, as for her name…" he said and glanced right at her, "We'll see." Krisskkil smiled, knowing something that only he knew just as Sselkk turned back to Rainbow Dash, "So, little pony, what are you planning? If you need a squadron then it would be prudent to inform your troops."

"You'll see, I actually hope I'm wrong with this one." she said in response.

Back outside, Twilight sparkle flapped her wings, placing her hooves against the stone where the symbols once rested, "There was definitely magic here!" she said as she patted the smooth surface, "But's it's gone now."

"But really? Magic?" Pilit asked as she sat nearby with her computer, a flat screen that stretched almost as wide as her chest, "Place the sensor up to the stone, maybe my instruments can pick up the residual energy."

"HOW DO YOU HAVE A SENSOR FOR MAGIC?" Twilight asked from her position above.

"I built it from scratch and calibrated it every time you or Rarity used levitate." she said, "Did you know you leave quite a bit of residual energy when you teleport?"

"That's an invasion of privacy!" Twilight argued as she came down to meet with the young Treeopon.

"I'm sorry." Pilit said as she shrank back into her shoulders, "I stopped using you and Rarity when we got the light spear though."

Twilight growled a bit in her disapproval and then gently grabbed the small disk from Pilit, "I just wish you would have said something, I would have gladly helped." she said and flapped her wings to rise back up to the flat spot where the sign used to be and held the disk up to the wall.

"I'm…actually getting a signal." Pilit said, "And a very familiar one."

"Don't look at me." Twilight said, "Am I even using this thing correctly?"

"You're fine, and it's not you." Pilit announced without looking up from the screen, "It's the same energy as from the spear."

"Really?" the purple alicorn asked as she just hovered there, "That would indicate that this spear and the magic that cast the symbols came from the same source."

"But magic isn't supposed to be available here on Bacromus…or even in the entire Terranuilian system!" Pilit said, and then looked to her screen closer, "This is incredible."

"Does this mean that Rainbow Dash's magic surging through her racer is actually legal?" Twilight asked as she floated back down to the ground.

Pilit finally lifted her head, thought in her eyes as she looked to the pony princess, "It…wouldn't be a stretch. I could probably put a case together with our findings if I had to." she said.

"I just hope that they're alright. They've been in there a long time." Twilight said as she turned her head towards the sold slabs of stone that once were open gates.

"That…" the Sunik girl began.

"…is unbelievable." her pilot finished.

"It's everything we saw." Breeze announced.

"To think." Krisskkil said and turned to his pilot, "Such a rich history all but destroyed."

"I get it Krisskkil." Sselekk said in slight anger.

"Still, if this works then that means it was all real." Tris said.

"The chance to truly live history." Honor said, "A rare chance indeed."

"So, we all think about this instance, and take everyone into it as well?" the Hylop asked.

"I think so, it might be as easy as just experiencing it, but…" Syls said.

"Everypony just be ready for anything. We aren't going to know until we get there." Rainbow Dash said, "and…be careful. The last thing I want is for somepony to get hurt."

She got nods as her response, Sselekk looking to the sky, "Our disrupter bolts should work like stun shots…for smaller enemies."

"Just be careful." she ordered the others. They all took a deep breath, and closed their eyes, focusing on what they had just viewed, no one sensing a thing, no change, no noise. Then, they opened their eyes.

"Nothing happened." the Sunik girl said.

"Guess it was all fake after all." the red haired Treeopon said, just as something speed right by him. The seven of them started to move, each of them falling in line as they moved from their position.

"I can't see anything." Honor said, "It's pitch black!"

"Follow me!" Rainbow Dash suddenly said, and began veering side to side in a wide pattern.

"Why should we trust you again?" the red-haired pilot asked, just as they passed by what looked to be a large cliff side revealing the actual scene of battle. "Oh." was his response.

There, at some distance, a large jet-black serpent roared like a dragon, its head pointed to the sky as it flicked its tail to throw balls of dark energy. Above it, a serpent made entirely of light weaved around in the sky while it dodged the dark blasts to retaliate by throwing small bolts of light.

"The Egas!" Tris said.

"IT'S REAL?!" Sselekk asked in surprise."
