Chapter 3

The school year had been uneventful to Julia and now she was on summer holiday. It was the first of July, Julia's eleventh birthday. Julia and Bradley were in the kitchen, she sat on a chair at the table and Bradley put her favourite cake, a chocolate cake with pink icing on with eleven candles.

Julia smiled and blew them out.

Bradley then gave her a present; it was wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper. She unwrapped it and saw a book.

"Oh, Warriors the new prophecy: Midnight!" exclaimed Julia. "Thanks dad!" Julia loved to read, and she was obsessed with Warriors by Erin Hunter. She liked cats.

"I knew you'd love it" said Bradley chuckling.

Bradley owned a paint store and made fairly good money. He did his best to support his daughter.

Julia then heard the sound of the mailbox.

"That must be the mail," said Bradley.

"I'll get it," said Julia.

Julia got up from the chair and went to the front door. The mailbox was attached to the wall, she reached inside and grabbed the mail and went back inside.

She looked over the mail, there were a couple bills, some birthday cards from some family friends at the Baptist church she and her dad went too. Bradley's family were Baptists, he didn't go to church much when Paige was around, but ever since she disappeared, he and Julia went all the time.

Julia didn't have to many friends at school, but she had a lot of friends in the church. Some of her dad's acquaintances had taken a liking to her.

But then Julia noticed a letter that had her name on it.

To Julia Elizabeth Castros

6 Victoria place

Leicester Leicestershire

Julia noticed there wasn't a return address on it, so she didn't know who it was from. Turning it over she noticed it had a red wax seal. She could see the initials HW on it.

She walked into the kitchen and handed the mail to her dad, as he went over it, he noticed she was staring at the letter.

"What is it, Julia?" he asked.

"I got a letter," said Julia. "But I don't know who it's from."

Julia opened the envelope and read it.

Dear Julia Castros we are pleased to announce that you have accepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please find a list of all books and supplies necessarily, term starts September 1st. We will send you you're list no later then July 31st

Signed Minerva McGonagall headmistress.

Julia looked at her father in even more confusion.

"What's it talking about dad?" she asked.

Bradley had listened to her reading and his olive-green eyes opened wide.

"There's something I have to tell you" he explained solemnly.

Julia looked at her father in surprise, but she sat down and listened.

"Your mother's a witch" he began.

"A witch?" said Julia in disbelief.

"Princess," he explained. "You've always said a lot of strange things have happened your whole life. Well, the reason is because you're a witch just like your mother."

"Are you a witch too?" Julia asked softly.

"No," replied Bradley. "I'm a muggle."

"A what?" asked Julia.

"Muggles are what witches call regular people like me," explained Bradley. "Paige and I have known each other since we were kids. We were neighbors and best friends. Paige was a muggle born, a witch that's born into a family of non magic people, but overtime she began to notice strange things about her and she was accepted into Hogwarts, it's a boarding school for witches. I was the only one she ever told about Hogwarts and magic."

Bradley looked at the letter.

"So, professor McGonagall is your headmaster," said he muttered looking up. "She was your mother's transfiguration teacher when she was a student a Hogwarts."

Julia was unsure of what to make, she loved fantasy and was interested in the whole wizarding world. But it was so much for her to take in.

"Paige was quite excited for you to go to Hogwarts," he said. "You know it's what she would want."

Julia thought about what her dad said, she had never been the type of girl who'd wanna attend boarding school, but it did sound interesting. So, she agreed to give it a try.

Author's note; Julia's found out she's a witch, in the next chapter she'll be going shopping for her school supplies.
