This is a Legends and Lattes fanfiction. I own NONE of the characters or concepts, they all belong to Travis Baldree. The newest book, Bookshops and Bonedust is out, too.
This story has SPOILERS for Legends and Lattes, if you have not read it yet STOP NOW. And small spoilers for Bookshops and Bonedust too.
Questions and Conversations
One: Tandri and Gallina
Gallina used one of her MANY knives to clean her nails as she looked across the table at Tandri. The succubus shifted uncomfortably under her glare.
"Yes?" Tandri finally asked.
"Viv is a friend of mine, and we've been through a LOT together," Gallina said, "I don't want to see her get hurt."
"I have no intention of...," Tandri started.
"And she's not as worldly as she likes to seem," Gallina added. She sighed, "In fact she's pretty damn clueless."
Tandri sighed, "I know."
Gallina nodded, clearly well aware of how romantically inept Viv was.
"I'm not going to do anything unless she wishes," Tandri said diplomatically, "I like her too much for that."
Gallina studied her a moment, then nodded reluctantly.
Tandri looked at her and realized, "You liked Viv too?"
Gallina nearly choked on her drink. Recovering she growled, "HOW DID YOU KNOW?"
"Well, you just confirmed it," Tandri noted. Gallina scowled as she gently asked, "Why...?"
Gallina made a face, "The timing was never right. When we first met, I was hoping she'd sponsor me to the mercenaries and I didn't want to mess that up. Then after, the dwarf girl was chasing her..."
"Dwarf girl?" Tandri asked, interested.
"Viv should probably tell you THAT story," Gallina noted.
Tandri pouted but accepted that.
Two: Talvus and Madrigal.
"Thank you, again, for helping Viv," Talvus said quietly.
Madrigal calmly sipped her tea, "You're welcome, of course."
"Why did you do so much?" Talvus asked hesitantly.
Madrigal looked thoughtful as she said. "I may seem like a simple criminal, but I take my obligations seriously."
Talvus nodded slightly.
"They were under MY protection," Madrigal said flatly. "And that bastard burned them down."
The uncharacteristic curse surprised Talvus a little.
"So yes, I helped them rebuild, it was the least I could do," Madrigal said.
Talvus nodded.
Apparently feeling she had to explain herself more Madrigal added, "And there was my reputation, of course. If someone under my protection was hurt, I look bad. so..."
Talvus drank his tea, hiding a small smile. Apparently Madrigal wasn't going to admit she was fond of Viv.
"And Fennus?" Talvus asked/
"Is a dead man."
End?
Notes: One is set somewhere in the middle of Legends and Lattes, Two is set after the end. It made sense for me that someone in Viv's old party might be worried Tandri might be taking advantage of her. I liked the idea of Madrigal feeling she HAD to justify helping Viv and being unwilling to admit she just liked Viv.
