Chapter 2: Chance Encounter

A/N: Hey everyone! Glad to see you guys are excited about the prequel story! Since it's Hazbin Hotel month I thought I'd treat you all to another chapter! Once the show is out and I've seen all the episodes I'll get back to La Vie En Rose (need to figure out how to weave in that show and Helluva Boss nicely).

Now that Blitzo has the book he can start his business! How did his first day on the job start out?

This is the extended version of chapter 'How it all began' from La Vie En Rose. Hope you like the extra parts!

Disclaimer: I don't own Helluva Boss or Hazbin Hotel; I just own my characters.

Enjoy!

Stumbling out of the portal, Blitzo tripped and fell face first into the pavement. Grumbling out a curse, he dusted himself off and pulled out the book he snagged from Stolas. After three attempts, he finally got the portal to close. Looking at the book, he raised an eyebrow.

This was a fancy book he managed to steal from the Goetia Prince. It was a pain in the ass and he almost had to sell his ass to get it but it was worth it. Now that he could travel to the mortal realm he could start his business.

He looked at the photo as well as the location his client gave him. This guy looked like he would be an easy target. Middle aged man. Looked like a nerd who did nerdy things like bird watching in the park and taking photos.

He didn't see why this client wanted the loser dead but when money was involved, he wasn't going to question it.

Tucking the photo away, he pulled out his pistol. Before he left the circus he managed to steal one of his dad's guns as well as a handful of bullets. Wasn't the best way to start a business but once things picked up he would be able to buy as many weapons as his wished.

Blitz-o the clown was dead and Blitzo the hitman was up and ready to go!

This job was going to be easy.

The bells rang as school was let out for the day. Students rushed outside as they basked in their long awaited freedom. Everyone rushed over to join their groups and talk about how their classes went. Jocks talked about practice, the popular girls talked about the cutest outfits they saw, pretty much everyone had someone to talk to.

And then there was Jennifer.

Making her way out of the building, she gripped her backpack and sighed. She didn't know what she did to piss God off but it seemed like she was an outcast wherever she went. She was a quiet nerdy girl who liked anything that had to do with the theater. One would think she would get along with the drama club but even they thought she was too much for them. Maybe it was because of her over the top red hair that she was born with, or because everyone knew about why she was living with her grandma instead of her parents. Either way, they didn't want to take the time to actually know her and decided to shun her like the plague.

It sucked but sadly she was used to it. Her grandma, not so much. The poor woman couldn't understand why no one wanted to be friends with her precious Jenny but clearly she didn't know that people were natural born assholes.

Speaking of assholes, her history teacher was a huge one. For her class project for the month, everyone in the class had to group together and put a presentation about one of the historical timelines they were covering. And wouldn't you know it, her classroom had an odd number bunch so that meant she had to do this project all by herself. No three people teams, it was ether a set or you're on your own.

She wasn't pissed off about being alone. She was smarter than most of her classmates so she knew she would pass with ease. It was explaining to her grandma why she was all by herself again that was going to be a problem. She went through all the excuses in the book and now she was out of ideas. If her grandma found out the real reason she was on her own, she knew the old lady would set the school on fire. While that was a tempting idea, she didn't want her grandma to go to jail for arson.

Not wanting to go home right away, Jenny decided to talk a little walk and clear her head. Whoever said High School years were the best time in anyone's life was a god damn liar.

Did Blitzo say this job was going to be a breeze? Oh no it was a fucking hurricane right now.

Zipping between allies and scurrying behind structures, he ran for his life.

Seemed like he was a natural born screw up since he made a huge rookie mistake. He was sitting up in a tree, watching his target as the guy was busy taking photos of birds in the local park. His leg was starting to fall asleep from watching the target for so long that when he went to take the shot, his leg gave in and he slipped and fell. The gunshot startled the target and turned to see where the noise was coming from. Sure enough, the man was greeted to the sight of a terrifying looking imp.

Naturally the man yelled saying he saw the devil, which alerted everyone who was in the park. Knowing the mission failed, Blitzo hurried out of the park where the target tried to chase after him.

It seemed like at this rate his first day in the moral realm would be his last. If he wasn't killed he knew he was going to be experimented on.

He kept running, hoping he would lose the target so he could return home in one piece.

Off on the bridge that sat over a lake, Jenny sat on the railing looking at the water. She wasn't supposed to be sitting up there since it was dangerous but it's not like anyone noticed her to begin with. She just had to make sure she didn't fall in.

She sighed as she kicked her legs back and forth. She didn't know what she was going to tell her grandma about this school project. She could just keep quiet about it but people talked in this city so it would get back to her grandma.

Jenny didn't want to stress her grandma out. The poor woman had enough on her plate raising her and keeping a roof over their heads.

If only she had a friend. Then all of her troubles would be over.

Her prayers were answered because at that second, Blitzo zipped past her on the bridge. He bumped into her which resulted in her falling off and landing in the lake.

She screamed as she fell.

When Blitzo heard a loud splash, he skidded to a stop and looked behind him.

Jenny struggled to stay to the surface as she flailed her arms around. She couldn't swim and since the lake was deep, she was in trouble.

"Help!" she cried.

She tried to stay up but her head kept going under the water. She continued pleading as she struggled. Blitzo made a face and turned around. It wasn't his fault this stupid girl decided to sit somewhere dangerous. Besides, he needed to save his ass before someone would probe it.

"Please help me!" Jenny pleaded.

Blitzo balled his hands into fists when he heard her plea. Growling, he turned around and hurried over to the lake.

"Christ on a stick"

He reached the edge of the lake and dove into the water. Swimming over to her, he wrapped his tail around her and pulled her back to the grassy area. Jenny coughed and spat up water when Blitzo pulled her back on land. Her red hair got in her face when she fell in. Pushing the messy strands away, she wanted to see who rescued her.

"Thank you so much for savin-"

She felt her throat close up when instead of seeing a person, she saw a demon instead. Her eyes grew wide when she saw a red and white devil like creature with big horns and a pointy tail.

She was about to scream when Blitzo pointed his gun at her head.

"You let one sound out and I'm throwing you back in that lake to drown" he hissed.

Jenny was terrified that she had a gun pressed to her head…for about three seconds.

"Don't you mean you'll blow my brains out?" she asked in confusion.

"Since you have a gun pointed to my head an all"

Blitzo scowled and pulled the gun away.

"Do you know how hard it was for me to snag even five bullets? It costs a fortune to buy a whole case of them and I'm not made out of money. I'm not letting these go to waste" he snapped.

Jenny made a face at that.

"You think I'm not good enough to be shot at?" she barked.

Blitzo raised an eyebrow at her response.

"Do you want to get shot?" he slowly asked.

Jenny crossed her arms and gave the imp a dull look.

"Everyone knows you shoot someone to keep them quiet. If you threw me back in the lake I might be able to get out and alert someone. If you shot me, I'd be dead and you wouldn't have any witnesses. You save slow painful deaths for someone you hate and quick clean ones to get the job done. Duuuuhhhh!"

Now it was Blitzo's turn to be completely dumbfounded.

"That's really disturbing that was the first thing you thought of when I pointed a gun at you-I mean it's true…but still disturbing"

Jenny shrugged, clearly not bothered.

"Crime tv is more educational than reality tv" she said.

"THE DEVIL!"

Both of them turned when they heard someone shouting. It was Blitzo's target from earlier.

"Shit!" Blitzo snapped.

He wasted his chance to get away because he saved Jenny. With how close the guy was, he knew he couldn't get away.

Jenny didn't say anything as she watched what was unfolding. She suddenly grabbed Blitzo's hand and tugged him along.

"This way!"

The imp stumbled over his feet as he tried to follow after Jenny. The human lead them to the trees that lined the dense forest. She ran through the trees, going farther and farther into the forest. When they reached a clearing, she stopped. The two of them hunched over as they regained their breath.

"Nobody ventures this far into the forest so we're safe" she said.

When they finally caught their breath, Blitzo looked at the human in confusion.

"Why did you do that?" he asked.

Jenny looked at him and shrugged.

"You saved me from drowning so I'm just returning the favor" she said.

"You didn't have to do that, but you did so I wanted to show my thanks"

Blitzo studied her for a moment then put his gun away. He had a feeling he didn't need it around this human.

"You know it's a bad idea to help a demon from Hell, right?"

"I've never met one before so I wouldn't know" Jenny teased.

She held her hand out to him.

"I'm Jennifer. My friends call me Jenny…well, that's if I had friends"

Blitzo looked at her hand then slowly accepted it.

"The name's Blitzo. The O is silent"

The two of them shook hands.

"Thanks again for saving me" Jenny said.

Blitzo allowed himself a small smile to appear on his face.

"Yeah, well this is a one time gig. Don't expect anything out of this, okay?"

They let go of each other's hands and sized each other up. This was the first time that they met someone that wasn't the same species so this was all new to them.

"Soooo what exactly are you? I heard creepy Herbert calling you the Devil but I'm getting the feeling you're not" Jenny said.

"Are you a demon?"

Blitzo rolled his eyes.

"I'm an Imp, bitch. Very big difference" he said.

Jenny held her hands up in defense.

"Sorry! I've never met anyone from Hell so I don't know how anyone looks like down there" she said.

Blitzo's annoyed look softened a little.

"Fine I'll give you that"

"What's the difference between an Imp and a demon anyway?" Jenny asked.

"Demons can either be Hellborn or they used to be human and got fancy powers by making deals with shady individuals. Imps are natural Hellborn deities and we've been around since the dawn of time. It's a lot more complicated than that but your puny human brain can't comprehend such complex knowledge" Blitzo explained.

"What about you? Are all humans this laid back when they come face to face with other worldly creatures?"

Jenny hummed as she thought about that.

"I guess so? I mean I know there are a lot of people who try to prove that there is life outside of ours like Ghosts and Aliens. Hey, if beings from Hell exists does that mean Aliens exist too?!"

"How the fuck would I know? I've never met one" Blitzo said flatly.

"Aw man. I thought you might know why they always want to probe people in the ass" Jenny said.

"Why would you want to know that?!" Blitzo barked.

"Because that's the most random thing to happen when you get abducted. They could pick at your brain and study the human mind but nope! They'd rather see what was inside your ass"

Blitzo looked at her oddly.

"…I'd think you were a freak if I wasn't thinking the same thing" he said.

"We're forgetting the situation we're in right now. I'm not supposed to be seen by humans. The fact that two people have already seen me is bad news. No one can know about this"

"Oh I wouldn't worry about creepy Herbert. Nobody believes most of the stuff he says. Last week he said the world was coming to an end when an apple fell on his head" Jenny said.

"And as for me. If told people about you, they would think I'm crazy and throw me in a nut house. I don't know about you but the thought of being in a padded room and tied up in a straightjacket does not sound appealing to me"

Blitzo narrowed his eyes at her.

She was bluffing, he knew it.

"What makes you think I'll believe you?"

Jenny held her pinky out to him.

"If I pinky promise to keep quiet about you, will you believe me?"

Blitzo looked at her dumbfounded.

"What are you, five? Who the fuck does pinky promises anymore?" he barked.

"Or we could do a blood pack" Jenny offered.

"No thanks, I don't need your dirty human blood mixing with my Imp blood" Blitzo said.

He held out his pinky and linked it with hers.

"Just a heads up for next time, never ever make a deal with a Hellborn being. It doesn't end well"

"This isn't a deal, this is a promise" Jenny clarified.

"I promise not to say anything about you and in return you have to promise me something"

"Why the fuck do I have to promise you something?!"

"That's how pinky promises work. Since we made one, you can't back out of it" Jenny teased.

Blitzo rolled his eyes. First he had to deal with an annoying Goetia prince and now he had to deal with an annoying human. Fuck his life.

Jenny looked at her watch and noticed the time.

"Crap! My grandma is going to skin me if I get home late!" she said.

She started running off but stopped and turned to Blitzo.

"Are you going to be ok here or do you need to hide somewhere?"

Blitzo was a little surprised that this human was concerned about his wellbeing. But he wouldn't show that he was touched.

He pulled out Stolas' book and waved it in front of her.

"I have my way of getting home. I won't do it now cause I don't need you knowing all of my secrets. Get home before it gets dark out, kid"

Jenny smiled a little and waved.

"Thanks again for saving me, Blitz"

"Remember, that was a one time thing so don't get any ideas" Blitzo warned.

Jenny laughed and hurried out of the woods.

When Blitzo was alone, he sighed and slumped forward. This was not how he planned his first day on the job to be. He failed to kill his target, got spotted by a few humans and now one of them knew more than she should about him. She might have promised that she wouldn't say anything but he knew humans were chatter boxes. She was going to slip up and reveal that an Imp made its way to the mortal realm.

He opened up the book and used the spell to open a portal back to Hell. He looked at his pinky finger for a moment. He could still feel the warmth from Jenny's finger from when they made their promise.

Shaking his head, he went back to being serious. He didn't care that he made a pinky promise with a human. He needed to cover his tracks before anyone else saw him.

"I'm gonna have to kill that bitch" he muttered to himself.

It seemed now that he had two targets he needed to take care of. Looks like it was overtime for Blitzo.

A/N: Oh Blitzo who are you kidding? We all know you won't do it lol.

So Blitzo's first day on the job wasn't great but something good came out of it.

Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! Please review and tell me what you thought of it!

Take care!
