Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 48 of God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. Thank you to those who have left reviews. It really does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story. I do apologize though for the last chapter being so short. I hate writing short chapters and always have found them rather irritating when I can't get them to the length that I want. I hope this chapter will appease everyone with length and make it worthwhile. Without further ado chapter 48. ENJOY!

Chapter 48

Everleigh sat in the room that Clint had given her to be alone in since he and Laura knew how she was with being around others with her given gifts. She didn't blame them for allowing her to have a room to herself, in fact she was fairly thankful that they kept this room open for her. She nibbled at her lower lip thinking of the twins that were running around with Ultron and causing so much trouble. She knew that she needed to figure out Wanda's gifts quicker if she was going to be any help to the team.

She hated the fact that she was blind sided with such a gift that the woman in red had. She had never seen any sort of gifts like that before compared to her own. But then again she didn't even think it was possible to have super speed that almost broke the sound barrier. Her head slowly raised when she heard a knock on the door. She got up to her feet and answered the door. "Nat what is it?"

"Fury is here."

Everleigh nodded her head and followed the redhead down into the kitchen where Nick was waiting for them.

"Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself time. My contacts all say he's building something. The amount of Vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing." Nick explained to them.

"What about Ultron himself?" Steve questioned crossing his arms.

"Ah. He's easy to track, he's everywhere. Guy's multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an angle on any of his plans though."

"He is still going after launch codes?" Tony questioned his brows furrowing slightly.

"Yes, he is, but he's not making any headway."

"I cracked the Pentagon's firewall in high school on a dare."

"Yeah, well, I contacted our friends at the NEXUS about that."

"NEXUS?" Steve questioned his brows furrowing slightly in concern.

"It's the world internet hub in Oslo, every byte of data flows through there, fastest access on earth." Bruce explained.

"So what'd they say?" Clint asked, looking at his former boss.

"He's fixated on the missiles, but the codes are constantly being changed." Nick explained to them bluntly.

"By whom?" Tony asked.

"Parties unknown."

"Do we have an ally?" Natasha asked, crossing her arms.

"Ultron's got an enemy, that's not the same thing. Still, I'd pay folding money to know who it is."

"I might need to visit Oslo, find our "unknown."" Tony explained looking over at Nick.

"Well, this is good times, boss, but I was kind of hoping when I saw you, you'd have more than that." Natasha said, looking at Nick.

"I do, I have you. Back in the day, I had eyes everywhere, ears everywhere else. Here we all are, back on earth, with nothing but our wit, and our will to save the world. So stand. Outwit the platinum bastard."

"Steve doesn't like that kind of talk."

"You know what, Romanoff?" Steve said, giving her a look.

Natasha smiled mischievously at him.

Everleigh shook her head lightly at Natasha's antics.

"So what does he want?" Nick questioned looking at Steve.

"To become better. Better than us. He keeps building bodies."

"Person bodies. The human form is inefficient, biologically speaking, we're outmoded. But he keeps coming back to it." Tony explained remembering what he knew.

"When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed." Natasha said, looking at the two smartest men in the room.

"They don't need to be protected, they need to evolve. Ultron's going to evolve." Bruce said, shaking his head.

"How?" Nick asked.

"Has anyone been in contact with Helen Cho?"

"Last I heard she was on her way home, but I haven't heard from her since." Everleigh explained to the group knowing that wasn't a good sign.

ULTRON

"I'll take Natasha, Everleigh, and Clint." Steve said, looking at the group.

"Alright, strictly recon. I'll hit the NEXUS, I'll join you as soon as I can." Tony said with a firm nod of his head.

"If Ultron is really building a body…"

"He'll be more powerful than any of us. Maybe all of us. An android designed by a robot."

"You know I really miss the days when the weirdest thing science ever created was me."

"I'll drop Banner off at the tower. Do you mind if I borrow Ms. Hill?" Nick questioned looking over at Tony.

"She's all yours, apparently."

"What are you gonna do?" Steve questioned rather curiously.

"I don't know. Something dramatic, I hope." Nick explained.

"I'm gonna finish re-flooring that sunroom as soon as I get back." Clint told his wife softly.

"Yeah, and then you'll find another part of the house to tear apart." Laura mused softly.

"No. It's the last project. I promise." He kissed her softly.

Not too much later they were well on their way to try and save the day.

This is the end of chapter 48. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I've tried my best with writing this chapter out.
