Chapter 54

Everleigh waited with Steve and Thor outside of the new Avengers facility waiting for Tony to arrive.

Tony pulled up in his car and got out of it a smirk on his face seeing the three of them waiting for her.

"The rules have changed." Steve said, looking at Tony.

"We're dealing with something new." Tony said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Well, the Vision's artificial intelligence." Steve pointed out to Tony knowing that it was something new that they would all have to deal with at some point.

"A machine."

"So it doesn't count."

"No. It's not like a person lifting the hammer."

"Right. Different rules for us."

"Nice guy, but artificial."

"Thank you."

"If he can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone. It's safe with the Vision and these days, safety is in short supply." Thor pointed out to them.

"But if you put the hammer in an elevator…" Steve trailed off looking at Thor, his brows furrowed.

"It would still go up." Tony pointed out to Steve.

"Elevator's not worthy."

"I'm going to miss these little talks of ours." Thor said with a laugh.

"Well, not if you don't leave." Tony pointed out to Thor.

Everleigh nodded her head slightly looking at Thor. But she had a feeling that he was thinking of something.

"I have no choice. The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last few years. That's not a coincidence. Someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us. But once all these pieces are in position…" Thor pointed out.

Everleigh swallowed the lump in her throat. She hadn't thought that the stones meant something. She had a feeling deep inside of her chest that something wasn't right.

"Triple Yahtzee?" Tony questioned looking at Thor.

"You think you can find out what's coming?" Steve questioned curiously.

"I do. Besides this one, there's nothing that can't be explained." Thor returned to Asgard, the Bifrost burning a sigil into the grass that he had once been standing on.

"That man has no regard for lawn maintenance. I'm gonna miss him though. And you're gonna miss me. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears." Tony mused as he and Steve walked to his car.

"I will miss you, Tony." Steve admitted softly.

"Yeah? Well, it's time for me to tap out. Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book and build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up."

"The simple life."

"You'll get there one day."

"I don't know, family, stability. The guy who wanted all that went in the ice seventy-five years ago. I think someone else came out."

Tony turned to get into his car. "You alright?"

"I'm home."

Tony got into his car.

Steve turned to see Natasha standing with Everleigh. Steve came over to the two of them. them. "You want to keep staring at the wall, or do you want to go to work? I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall."

Natasha turned her head to look at Steve. "I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes. How do we look?"

"Well, we're not the '27 Yankees." He said handing Natasha a tablet.

Everleigh let out a soft laugh shaking her head lightly at the thought.

"We've got some hitters."

"They're good. They're not a team." Steve admitted softly.

"Let's beat 'em into shape."

They walked into the training room where Rhodey was in his War Machine suit, Vision floated down to the ground. Sam arrives in his falcon suit and Wanda floats down in a new uniform.

"Avengers...!" Steve said, looking at everyone.

Everleigh let out a soft chuckle as she looked at the new recruits. "This won't be easy."

This is the end of Chapter 54. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best with writing this chapter. Thankfully this was the last chapter of The Age of Ultron meaning that I'm finally done with one of the hardest movies that I have tried to work on. I hope that I did alright with this section of the story. I hope that future chapters will come a bit easier than this section did. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I'll update next week. Until next time.
