Chapter 76
Everleigh and Loki appeared in a puff of green magic which was only them appearing to him in an illusion.
Thor sat against the wall, praying quietly to himself, but Loki and Everleigh could hear him. "Odin, I bid you take your place in the halls of Valhalla… Where the brave shall live forever. Nor shall we mourn but rejoice for those that have died the glorious death."
Loki's voice rang out at the every end of his prayer with rejoice for those who have died the glorious death.
Thor looked up, giving him a hard look seeing Everleigh standing by his brother's side. He felt a stab in his chest thinking that his friend had betrayed him by standing by Loki's side.
"It hurts, doesn't it? Being lied to. Being told you're one thing and then learning it's all a fiction."
Thor picked up some stones that had fallen from Korg's leg and started to casually throw them through Loki's illusion as well as Everleigh knowing that they really weren't there.
"You didn't think I'd really come and see you, did you? This place is disgusting."
Everleigh looked over at Loki with narrowed eyes. "Seriously Loki. That's the only thing that you can say?"
Thor threw another stone through Loki not caring that Loki wasn't there, he was more angry on knowing that Loki didn't help him out of this problem that he was in.
"Does this mean you don't want my help?"
Thor threw another rock.
"Look, I couldn't jeopardize my position with Grandmaster, it took me time to win his trust. He's a lunatic, but he can be amenable."
Thor threw another stone through Loki disinterested in what his younger brother was saying.
Everleigh let out a soft breath shaking her head. "Thor, you're a grown man." Everleigh snapped, getting fed up with the whole thing of having stones thrown through her illusion and Loki's. "Start acting like a man instead of a spoiled child not getting his way."
Loki's brows furrowed as he looked over at Everleigh; he didn't expect her to give his brother what for, for how he was acting. "What I'm telling you is, you could join me at the Grandmaster's side. Perhaps, in time, an accident befalls the Grandmaster, and then…"
Everleigh's tongue clicked against her teeth as she looked over at him. Her blue eyes narrowed at the black haired man. "Is that all you ever think of? Taking over places?" She grumbled out her hair and eyes changing color in anger to a dark shade of black for both her hair and eyes.
Loki let out a breath as Thor threw another stone looking rather bored. "You're not seriously thinking of going back, are you? Our sister destroyed your hammer like a piece of glass. She's stronger than both of us. She's stronger than you. You don't stand a chance. Do you understand what I'm saying to you?"
Thor simply scowled at Loki.
"Fine. I guess I'll just have to go it alone. Like I've always done."
Everleigh rolled her eyes seeing Thor smirking.
"Would you say something?"
Thor looked around the floor for more stones, but he was out of them. He had thrown them all through the illusion.
"Say something!"
Thor finally looked right at Loki and Everleigh, speaking rather fast and curtly at the whole thing that Loki had said. "What would you like me to say? You faked your own death, stole the throne, stripped Odin of his power, stranded him on Earth to die, releasing the Goddess of Death. Have I said enough, or do you want me to go further back than the past two days?"
Loki's eyes burned as tears threatened to fall from his eyes.
Thor stared coldly at his brother.
Loki tried to compose himself to keep himself from going off of the rail.
Everleigh took a breath shaking her head as she carefully put her hand on Loki's arm soothing him some from ending up going off of that rail.
"You know, I haven't seen this Beloved Champion he talks of, but I've heard he's astonishingly savage. I've placed a large wager against you tomorrow. Don't let me down." Loki said as he and Everleigh both shimmered and the illusions vanished from the sight of Thor.
RAGNAROK
Everleigh looked over at Loki simply shaking her head moving away from him.
Loki let out a breath and looked at her seeing the irritated look that was on her face. He knew that taunting Thor was probably not the best thing for him to do.
Evereligh moved towards the bed that was in the room that they had been to share for the last two weeks that they were there in Sakaar. She sat down on the bed rubbing her face softly. "You just had to taunt him… in more ways than one, didn't you?"
Loki looked over at the dark haired woman, he had to admit that it was fairly scary seeing her with such dark hair and eyes. He just didn't quite understand why her form had shifted in such a way. Perhaps she didn't have full control over her abilities just yet. Or perhaps it was for another reason. "I'm sorry."
Everleigh shook her head lightly. "You want to take over Sakaar. Is that all you ever think of? Ruling? That's all you want to be is king and not have anyone stand in your way? Look at what happened on my planet. You lost, and that wasn't even you that did that, you were under deep mind control." Everleigh's hair and eyes shifted back to their normal color. She let out a soft breath. "And what is worse." She got up to her feet. "I believed that you were doing all of this to protect me from the GrandMaster. Not to get into his good graces and kill him."
Loki looked at her, feeling his heart clenching in his chest in a way that he never thought that he would feel. Did he grow to care for this witch from Midgard? No, he couldn't, but it would explain all of his actions as of late trying to save her from the Aether, so she wasn't killed from it. Revealing himself to her not so long after his supposed death, and now protecting her from the GrandMaster pretending to be husband and wife to make sure that the GrandMaster wouldn't do anything to her.
"Is this all you ever wanted Loki? Just to rule and not have someone by your side no matter what? Honestly you could be so much more than a king… you could have someone…" Everleigh swallowed the lump in her throat, shaking her head lightly as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She wouldn't let him know that everything that he had been doing was hurting her badly. "Nevermind." She said softly, looking away from Loki. He would never want anyone who would just want him for him and no other reason.
Loki looked at her, seeing a few tears slid down her cheeks. He felt his feet move towards her not liking the idea that she was crying because of him. He wiped a tear that slid down her cheek. "What are you trying to say?" He questioned softly, unsure of what Everleigh was saying.
Everleigh took a soft breath shaking her head lightly. "It doesn't matter, does it? I care about you Loki and it's not because of being a prince. I care about you for who you are."
"It does matter." He pointed out to her softly knowing that he probably now hurt her with how he was acting.
Everleigh looked up at Loki. "How am I to trust you?" She asked softly, pursing her lips together nervously.
"I may be a god of Mischief and Lies, but I don't lie when it comes to matters of the heart."
Everleigh shook her head lightly, not liking the idea of Loki admitting that he didn't lie about matters of the heart.
