Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 89 of God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. I want to thank those who have left reviews. It does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story. It means a lot that you guys have remained reading this story as it goes on. But it gives me an idea to write another story perhaps and focus a bit more on a character that loves Loki and perhaps start earlier than what I did with this book by having the story begin before Thor and go through those movies. Might be a bad idea I never know though. Enough of my ramblings though. We're on our way to starting the next movie Avengers Infinity War and I have a feeling that this one is going to be a bit rough to write. Without further ado Chapter 89. ENJOY!
Chapter 89
Everleigh had every right to be worried when she had noticed that ship coming towards them. She should've known that something was deeply wrong when it started to blast at their ship when they weren't even armed with any weapons. The screams of families on board with no soldiers really left to fight to protect them thanks to all of the problems that they had with trying to get off of Asgard.
Loki held her back with him near the Black Order.
"Loki what…"
Loki held his finger up to his lips, shushing her. He was going to make sure that she wouldn't end up getting killed by the Black Order. He knew that they were dangerous and deadly to deal with.
Everleigh looked up at Loki with scared eyes. Her heart pounded in her chest as she could hear the warning coming across the PA in a distress call to anyone.
"This is the Asgardian refugee vessel Statesman! We are under assault, I repeat, we are under assault – The engines are dead, life support failing! Requesting aid from any vessel within range... We are 22 jump points out of Asgard. Our crew is made up of Asgardian families, we have very few soldiers here! This is not a war craft, I repeat, this is not a war craft!"
Loki held her close to him as he narrowed his eyes as Ebony Maw walked among the bodies of fallen Asgardians.
"Hear me, and rejoice. You have had the privilege of being saved by the Great Titan. You may think this is suffering. No... It is salvation. Universal scales tip toward balance because of your sacrifice. Smile... For even in death, you have become Children of Thanos."
Loki's eyes slid over to Thanos.
Thanos looked through the large window that not too long ago that Loki, Thor, and Everleigh had been looking out. "I know what it's like to lose. To feel so desperately that you're right... yet to fail, nonetheless." He grabbed Thor by the head bringing him up to his feet. "It's frightening. Turns the legs to jelly. I ask you, to what end? Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same. And now, it's here. Or should I say... I AM." He held up his hand to reveal the gauntlet that already had the power stone inside of it.
Thor spat some blood out of his mouth, his eye narrowing at Thanos. "You talk too much."
Thanos's eyes traveled over to Loki and Everleigh. "The Tesseract, or your brother's head. I assume you have a preference."
Loki looked up at Thanos rather coolly. "Oh, I do. Kill away!"
Thanos put the gauntlet onto Thor's temple and used the power stone.
Thor groaned out in pain trying to not show it.
Loki cringed and looked away feeling that Everleigh had turned to face him a bit closer trying to hide her face from what was happening to Thor. "ALRIGHT, STOP!"
"We don't have the Tesseract. It was destroyed on Asgard." Thor snapped, narrowing his eyes at Thanos.
Loki glanced at Thor knowing something that he didn't know.
Everleigh's brow raised as she pulled back from Loki to see him lift his right hand into the air and the Tesseract revealed itself into the open.
Thor groaned in frustration. "You really are the worst, brother."
Loki kept a hold of the tesseract while Thanos came closer to him. "I assure you, brother, the Sun will shine on us again."
"Your optimism is misplaced, Asgardian."
"Well, for one thing: I'm not Asgardian. And for another... We have a Hulk." Loki said as he grabbed Everleigh and dived out of the way as the Hulk emerged to fight against Thanos.
Everleigh groaned as she looked up at Loki. "You really have to stop doing that."
Loki let out a soft laugh as he looked at her. "I know you don't like being knocked around darling."
Everleigh gave him a sour look crossing her arms as she looked at him. She turned her attention to where Hulk was fighting with Thanos. Her eyes widened when she saw Hulk get beaten down to the ground.
Thor tried to get involved only to be stopped by Ebony Maw being binded to the ground.
"Allfathers... let the dark magic flow through me one last... time." Heimdall said softly only to have the BiFrost only take Hulk and Everleigh away from the ship. He was willing to go the distance of protecting the two of them to get help to alert everyone that danger was coming their way.
INIFINTYWAR
Doctor Strange walked down the stairs of the Sanctum Sanctorum. "Seriously? You don't have any money?" He questioned as he looked up at Wong who was walking behind him.
"Attachment to the material is detachment from the spiritual." Wong said as if it wasn't wrong that he didn't have any money.
"I'll tell the guys at the deli. Maybe they'll make you a metaphysical Ham on Rye."
"Oh, wait, wait, wait, I think I have 200."
"Dollars?"
"Rupees."
"Which is?" Doctor Strange questioned as his brow raised.
"Uh, buck and a half."
"What do you want?"
"I wouldn't say no to a Tuna Melt."
Suddenly Bruce and Everleigh crash landed through the stairs of the Sanctum.
"Thanos is coming. He's coming…" Bruce mumbled softly.
Steven shared a look with Wong transforming his gear into his fighting attire. "Who?"
Everleigh groaned as she carefully used her very depleted magic to rise up out of the hole that they had made. "Thanos… a mad man… he has one stone already…"
Doctor Strange looked over at her with a worried gaze. "You look like you've been through…"
"Hell? Yeah pretty much. But we're in huge danger now. We were brought here by the BiFrost by Heimdall to protect us and alert you about the dangers that are headed our way…"

This is the end of Chapter 89. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I tried my best to write it out, and I think I did a fairly good job with it. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Reviews help me keep going with writing. I kind of feel terrible tearing Everleigh apart from Loki like this with Heimdall saving her. I will update soon next week on Monday. Until next time.
