Chapter 101
Bruce fiddled around with a lot of buttons that were on a panel.
Scott stood before them in front of the van dressed in his Ant-Man uniform. The back of the truck was open to prying eyes.
Steve, Natasha, and Everleigh stood beside Bruce blinking slightly in concern wondering if this plan was even going to work.
"Okay, here we go. Time travel test number one. Scott, fire up the uh... the van thing." Bruce said, looking up at Scott.
Scott opened up the portal.
"Breakers are set, and emergency generators are on standby," Steve told Bruce with a nod of his head hoping that this plan was going to work out.
"Good. 'Cause if we blow the grid, I don't wanna lose Tiny here in the 1950s."
Scott, Natasha, and Steve gave Bruce a panicked look.
"Excuse me?" Scott questioned looking at Bruce. He was beginning not to like the idea of how Bruce was talking.
Everleigh shook her head lightly. "He's kidding." She leaned forward to talk to Bruce in a very calm tone. "You can't say things like that!"
Bruce looked at Everleigh seeing the glint in her eyes. "Just... It was a bad joke."
Natasha's eyes slid over to Bruce. "You were kidding, right?"
Bruce looked at Natasha rubbing the back of his neck. "I have no idea. We're talking about time travel here. Either it's all a joke, or none of it is." He said softly to her. He turned his attention to Scott giving him a thumbs up. "We're good! Get your helmet on, Scott. I'm gonna send you back a week, let you walk around for an hour, then bring you back in 10 seconds. Makes sense?"
"Perfectly not confusing," Scott said letting out a soft huff.
"Good luck, Scott. You got this." Steve said with a nod of his head.
"You're right. I do, Captain America."
Bruce then pressed a button and Scott disappeared into the Quantum Tunnel. "On the count of three. 3... 2... 1!" He said before pressing the button again.
A teenager was now in the Ant-Man suit. "Uh, guys? This...this doesn't feel right."
Everleigh's brow raised slightly in concern. What on earth happened? How could that be possible that he was a teenager?
"What is this?" Steve questioned his brows pinched together in worry.
"What's going on?" Bruce questioned blinking a few times.
"That...who is that?" Natasha questioned pointing at the younger version of Scott.
Bruce presses other buttons to try and fix the problem. "Hold on."
"Is that Scott?"
"Yes, it's Scott!" The teen said before being sucked back into the tunnel and coming back as an old man. "Ow! My back!"
Steve looked at Bruce with concern in his eyes. "What is this?"
"Can I get a little space here?" Bruce said, looking at Steve.
"Yeah yeah. Can you bring him back?" Steve questioned holding his hands up knowing that Bruce was getting a little concerned about the whole thing.
"I'm working on it!" Bruce said, tapping at the side of the button pad, trying to pull Scott back.
After a moment another person appeared in front of them and this time it wasn't a teen, adult, or elderly man in the ant man suit, but a baby!
"It's a baby," Steve said, rubbing the back of his neck feeling his nerves almost becoming shot.
"It's Scott."
"As a baby!"
"He'll grow."
Everleigh pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.
"Bring Scott back!" Steve demanded as he looked at Bruce.
Bruce motioned to Natasha. "When I say kill the power, kill the power."
Natasha nodded her head. "Oh my god." She said as she walked over to the generator.
"And... Kill it!"
Natasha pulled the lever down and everything shut down.
Scott stumbled out of the back of the van looking rather distressed. "Somebody peed my pants."
"Oh thank god."
"But I don't know if it was "baby" me or "old" me...Or just "me" me."
Bruce held up his hands in a very dramatic way. "Time travel!"
Steve said nothing, shaking his head and walking away.
"What? I.I see this as an absolute win!"
Everleigh let out a breath, shaking her head lightly. "It's not a win Bruce." She said coming over to Scott. "Come on, let's get you some fresh clothes and a shower." She led the very distressed Scott away from Bruce and Natasha.
"I'm sorry," Scott said as they walked away from the group wringing his hands together. "I thought that it would work."
"I'm sure Bruce thought the same thing… the person that we need to help us, won't help us," Everleigh said softly as she shook her head as she walked.
"You're saying we need Tony."
"Yes. Bruce may be smart, but Tony is different from Bruce." She said as she opened the door to the room that Scott would be staying in. "Here's your room. I do apologize for what happened today."
Scott shrugged his shoulders. "It's not your fault Miss Vincin."
"Call me Everleigh, Scott. We've fought on the same side before."
Scott nodded his head slowly. "You never did get caught did you?"
Everleigh let out a soft laugh. "No, of course not." She mused with a cheeky smile. "They couldn't track me all that well."
"Well, that is good that you were never caught."
"Go and get cleaned up and we'll figure it all out later," Everleigh said softly. "We can only hope Tony would agree to help us…"
