Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 105 of God of Lies and Mischief and the Woman of Many Faces. Thank you to those who have left reviews for this story. It really does mean a lot to me. Since we are in the section where things go up in the air, I'm here to announce that I will also start posting the Loki series story most likely every Monday when I update this story. I know that the Loki story is a long time waiting and honestly I'm rather excited for it. Without further ado chapter 105. ENJOY!
Chapter 105
Tony flew through the air in his Mark 85 with Everleigh invisible on his back knowing that the younger woman needed to keep herself out of the sight of her past self. He scanned the interior of the tower and saw the original versions of themselves apprehending Loki. "Got to hustle, Cap. Things look like they're just about wrapped up here." Tony said over the com.
"Got it. I'm approaching the elevator now." Steve said over the com.
Hulk growled, making Loki kind of shrink down.
"If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now." Loki said softly trying to deflect the fact that he had lost.
"All right, get him on his feet. We can all stand around posing up a storm later. By the way, feel free to clean up." Tony said, looking at the fallen god. Not caring that Loki wanted a drink. That time had come and gone and he wasn't going to honor it now.
Everleigh moved forward tiredly and pulled him up off of the ground not noticing the look that Loki had on his face seeing how tired she was and how her magic was weakly calling to him.
Thor put a set of cuffs on his brother.
Everleigh looked at Loki's eyes and saw that they were finally green. She pursed her lips knowing that it wasn't all that easy to have his own brother arrest him.
"Uh, Mr. Rogers. I almost forgot that suit…" Tony watched Cap walk around in his 2012 suit. "Did nothing for your ass."
"No one asked you to look, Tony." Steve grumbled over the comm.
"It's ridiculous." Tony whispered.
"I think you look great, Cap. As far as I'm concerned, that's America's ass." Scott said, doing a salute.
Everleigh tried her best to not groan at what Scott had said. "I don't see how this is relevant." She said softly making sure that she wasn't heard by the older versions of themselves.
"Who gets the, uh, magic wand?" Natasha questioned holding it in her hand.
"STRIKE team's coming to secure it." Tony said, waving his hand as he moved away from the team to finish off the glass of whiskey that he had prior.
A team with Rumlow and Sitwell entered the room.
"We can take that off your hands." Sitwell said as he took it from Natasha.
"By all means. Careful with that thing." Natasha said handing it to him not wanting to be responsible for the thing any more.
"Unless you want your mind erased. And not in a fun way." Clint said, shaking his head.
"We promise to be careful." Sitwell said with a firm nod of his head.
"Who are these guys?" Scott questioned looking at the group.
"They are SHIELD...Well, actually Hydra. But, we didn't know that yet." Tony explained to the man who was shrunk down.
"Seriously, you didn't? I mean...they look like bad guys."
"You're small, but you're talking loud."
"Come on boys… no time for bickering. We need to watch them to make sure we don't miss our window." Everleigh pointed out softly, keeping her voice down rather low.
"On my way down to coordinate search and rescue." Steve said as he headed towards the elevator.
Loki suddenly transformed into Steve. "On my way down to coordinate search and rescue!" He transformed back into his normal self. "I mean, honestly! How do you think you'll be…"
Suddenly Thor slapped a device on Loki's mouth to keep him quiet. "Shut up."
Everleigh simply shook her head. She knew that there was no way that Loki would have kept his mouth shut about what Steve had said and kind of went bantering back with his brother like it was a normal thing for him to do. "Shall we?" She slowly walked as Thor dragged his brother towards the elevator.
"All right, you're up, little buddy." Tony said as he looked at the briefcase that held the Tesseract in it. "There's our stone."
Scott laid on Tony's shoulder. "Alright. Flick me."
Tony flicked Scott onto his 2012 self right into the beard.
Everleigh came into view from being invisible. "Well good shot." She said softly as she watched the Avengers get into the elevator.
Hulk went to follow but found it was full. "Move."
"Whoa!" Thor said, holding up his hands.
"Whoa, whoa. Hey! Buddy. What do you think? Maximum occupancy has been reached." Tony said, looking up at the green fighting machine.
"Take the stairs."
"Yeah."
Hulk drew his fist back as the elevator closed.
"Stop. Stop!"
He followed through with the punch making a dent right in the door. "Take the stairs! Hate the stairs!"
Tony swallowed the lump in his throat knowing that he was rather glad that the Hulk hadn't completely ruined the elevator door. "All right, Cap. I got our scepter in the elevator just passing the 80th floor."
"On it. Head to the lobby." Steve said on the com.
"Alright. I'll see you there." Tony turned his attention to Everleigh.
Everleigh nodded his head. "I'm sure that Steve has Hydra under control. He knows what he needs to do."
ENDGAME
Everleigh and Tony stood close to one another dressed in some shield gear to mask their identities of who they were.
Tony's hand went up to his comm making sure that it was on. "Thumbelina, do you copy? I've got eyes on the prize. It's go-time."
"Bombs away. Is... is that Axe body spray?" Scott questioned over the comm.
Everleigh tried her best not to groan.
"Yeah, I had a can just for emergencies. Relax. Can we focus, please?" Tony said a little flustered about the whole thing. They needed to have this go right.
Everleigh swallowed the lump in her throat as she watched the younger version of herself which was battered and bleeding. She felt her heart wrench inside of her chest as she saw how close she was to Loki.
"I'm going inside you. Now." Scott voiced over the comm.
"May I ask you where you're going?" Pierce questioned looking at them.
"To lunch and then Asgard. I'm sorry, you are?" Thor questioned as he looked at the man.
"Alexander Pierce. He's the man, one of the folks behind Nick Fury." The 2012 version of Tony replied.
"My friends call me Mr. Secretary. I'm gonna have to ask you to turn that prisoner over to me."
"Loki will be answering to Odin himself." Thor said, grasping his hammer tighter in his hand.
"Oh, he's gonna answer to us. Odin can have what's left. And I'm gonna need that case, that's been SHIELD property for over 70 years."
"Hand over the case, Stark." One of the Hydra agents said, narrowing his eyes at Tony.
"This is escalating too quickly." Everleigh said softly to Tony.
Tony breathed in sharply. "All right, move it, Stuart Little. Things are getting dicey up here. Let's go."
"I'm not gonna argue who's got the higher authority here, all right?" 2012 Tony said as he looked at Pierce.
"You promise me you won't die?" Scott said over the comm rather nervously.
"You're only giving me a mild cardiac dysrhythmia."
"That doesn't sound mild."
"I need the case." Pierce said, looking at them.
"I know you got a lotta pull. I'm just saying…" 2012 Tony said.
"Okay. Then give me the case."
"Do it, Lang!" Tony said sharply into the comm.
"Get your hands off!"
"Window's closing. Pull my pin!"
"Here goes!" Scott said over the comm.
Everleigh turned her head away as the younger version of Tony dropped the case.
"Stark?" Pierce questioned rather concerned.
"Stark!" Thor said in alarm.
The younger version of Tony fell to the ground.
"Look, he's convulsing. Give him air! Medic!" Pierce shouted.
"MEDIC! You guys, some help!" Tony called out disguising his voice making sure that they weren't seen.
"Stark, you- your chest machine?" Pierce questioned as they tried to help Tony.
Scott pushed the case towards Tony.
Loki looked at the case rather befuddled of what was going on.
Tony grabbed the case. "Good job. Meet me in the alley. I'm gonna grab a quick slice."
"Tony watch…" Everleigh said as suddenly the Hulk came from the staircase slamming into Tony knocking him to the ground and causing him to lose the tesseract.
"NO STAIRS!"
Loki felt something hit his feet looking down seeing the tesseract there. He leaned down picking it up.
The younger version of Everleigh grabbed onto the tesseract trying to get it out of his hold before they both teleported away.
"You'll be fine, Stark. Stay with us! I'll try something, okay? I have no idea if it's gonna work." Thor said as he used Mjolnir as a defibrillator on the younger version of Tony. "YES!"
Tony groaned softly. "That worked a treat. That was so crazy!"
"I had no idea if that was gonna work."
"The case?"
"The case. It's, uhh... Where's the case? Where's Loki? Loki!" Thor then looked around even more, noticing that Everleigh wasn't there. "Lady Everleigh?!"
Scott let out a breath concerned. "That wasn't supposed to happen, was it?"
"Oh, we blew it." Tony said with a groan as he saw Everleigh holding out her hand to him.
"Loki!?"
Tony grasped Everleigh's hand and she hoisted him up to his feet.
"Well, we really bungled that up…" Everleigh said, letting out a soft breath. "This isn't good… now Loki has the tesseract… and my past self is gone too… I can't imagine what that is going to do to the timeline."
Tony let out a breath shaking his head lightly. "We're going to have to figure out what to do next."
"That's an understatement Tony." Everleigh said softly as they headed towards the exit. "Steve isn't going to like this."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This is the end of Chapter 105. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. It took me a bit to figure out where I was going to have this go because it's not easy trying to write this all out. I hope that I did this chapter justice of course, but I know that it will be interesting with trying to write out the Loki series which will be released as well today and updated weekly along with this story. Hopefully I won't fail in writing this future story out and continuing on writing this story. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. I will update next week. Until next time.
