Chapter 106

Frigga looked at her ladies that walked with her having a feeling that someone was there that was trying not to be seen. "My ladies, I'll see you after. Go on."

Thor tried to hide behind a large post, but was shocked when he turned to see his mother right behind him.

"What are you doing?"

"Aah!"

"Aah!"

Thor felt his heart racing inside of his chest. "Oh, God!"

Frigga smiled a small soft smile. "You're better off leaving the sneaking to your brother."

"Yeah, I was simply just going for a walk, and uh…" Thor said trailing off as he tried to hide the big belly that he had gotten during the last five years.

Frigga looked at Thor, her brows furrowing together at what he was wearing. "What are you wearing?"

"I always wear this. This is one of my favorites."

Frigga put her hand on Thor's face to take a good look at him. "What's wrong with your eye?"

"Oh, my eye. That's... you remember the Battle of Haroquin? When I got hit in the face with a broadsword?" Thor stumbled over his words.

"You're not the Thor I know at all, are you?"

"Yes, I am."

"The future hasn't been kind to you, has it?"

"I didn't say I'm from the future."

"I was raised by witches, boy. I see with more than eyes, and you know that."

Thor attempted to hold his tears back but he couldn't. His emotions got the better of him. "I am totally, totally from the future."

"Yes, you are."

"I really need to talk to you."

"We can talk."

The two of them hugged one another.

Rocket tried to sneak up on Everleigh who was sound asleep on the bed.

Everleigh's hand went out catching Rocket in a purple aura.

Rocket held up his hands. "Whoa whoa whoa."

Everleigh's blue eyes flashed purple. "Who are you and what are you trying to do?" She demanded looking at the racoon.

"I'm here to help you."

"Do what?" She questioned her lips curling in anger.

"You have the Aether inside of ya don't you?"

Everleigh moved her hand and the purple light around Rocket disappeared. "You wish to take it away?" She questioned her voice rather softly.

Rocket blinked a few times remembering how the Everleigh he knew was, and this was a completely different version of her. Less haggled by time and not dealing with loss. "Yes, I can help you."

Everleigh took a breath as she looked at him. "How can you help me when even Thor or his family know how to help me?"

"I have something here to help."

Everleigh took a breath and nodded her head. "If you think that you can do it. Then yes, alright."

"His head was over there... His body over there... What was the point? I was too late. I was just standing there. Some idiot with an ax." Thor explained to his mother. He knew that he needed to speak with her to understand why he had done what he had done.

"You're no idiot. You're here aren't you? Seeking counsel from the wisest person in Asgard."

"I guess, yeah."

"Idiot? No. A failure? Absolutely."

"That's a little bit harsh."

"You do know what that makes you? Just like everyone else."

"I'm not supposed to be like everyone else, am I?" Thor questioned looking down feeling a bit disappointed in himself.

"Everyone fails at who they are supposed to be, Thor. The measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at being who they are."

"I really missed you, Mum."

Everleigh lifted Rocket up into her arms.

"Thor! I got it!" Rocket hollered out to the God.

"Get that rabbit!" A guard called running after them.

Everleigh looked down at Rocket. "Do you trust me?"

"Trust you?"

"Answer me Rocket, do you trust me?"

"Yes."

Everleigh grinned. "Good." She said suddenly before vanishing with him in her arms.

Rocket's eyes went wide as he vanished with her. "What is this?"

"A gift." Everleigh said with a cheeky smile.

"Ma, I have to tell you something." Thor said softly.

"No, son. You don't. You're here to repair your future, not mine." Frigga said, shaking her head.

"But this is about your future."

"It's none of my business."

Everleigh appeared out of nowhere with Rocket in her arms. Her brow raised as Rocket got out of her arms.

"Hey. You must be Mom. I got the thing. Come on, we got to move." Rocket said moving forward.

"I wish we had more time."

"No, this was a gift. And you're going to be the man you're meant to be."

"I love you, Mom."

"I love you. And eat a salad."

Everleigh came up behind Frigga.

"Come on. We gotta go." Rocket said, grabbing onto Thor's pant leg.

"Goodbye." Frigga said softly as she grasped Everleigh's hand on her own.

"Three... two…"

"No, wait!" Thor said, holding out his hand.

"Wh- what am I looking at?" Rocket questioned confused.

"Oh, sometimes it takes a second."

Suddenly Mjolnir came to his hand. He looked rather happy knowing that the hammer still saw him as worthy. "I'm still worthy."

"Oh, boy."

"Goodbye, Mom." Thor said tearfully.

"Goodbye." Frigga said softly as the two of them vanished before their eyes.

"I have to admit that this is the strangest adventure that I've ever been on. And it seems the future hasn't truly been all that kind to your eldest son."

Frigga nodded her head slowly knowing that was very true.
