Chapter 1

Valerie Gray was a lot of things. Smart, cunning, calculating. But above all else, she was stubborn as a bull. It had been days since she had been left in the Ghost Zone by Danny Phantom. He might have said he was all Phantom, but he looked enough like Danny that she didn't care to know the difference.

Since the incident, she had spent every waking moment trying to repair her hover board so she could escape. As she reached for one of her components, her arm brushed up against the medallion that hung around her neck. She didn't know what would happen if she took it off so she kept it on at all times. Something had changed in the Ghost Zone not long after she'd been left there. And she had a sneaking suspicion it had something to do with that time ghost, Clockwork, she thought she heard Danny call him.

Not that it mattered. Danny had effectively destroyed any remaining hope she had in the idea of good ghosts. One day she would bring Clockwork down just like every other ghost. But first she had to get back to her world so she could repair all her equipment. She was so close to getting her glider sky worthy again, but her lack of food or water for the last couple days was causing her hand eye coordination to tank. She just couldn't get this one wire in it's tiny slot due to the awkward angle. "This is all because I trusted that stupid, arrogant, too powerful for his own good, Danny Phantom!" She shouted to herself.

Suddenly the wire slipped into place, locking itself down. "Finally," Valerie exclaimed. "That should be the last part!" She turned the glider over and hit the manual switch at the back. With a high pitched hum the glider came to life. It was still pretty beat up, but as long as it could get her to a portal it was good enough. Valerie was so focused on her success at repairing her glider that she didn't notice the ghostly figure approaching her from behind.

"Excuse me," came a deep voice. Valerie spun around as fast as she could, and prepared to aim one of her blasters at whatever snuck up on her, but as she stood her vision went dark and she was hit with a wave of dizziness. She fell to her knees, preparing for the worst. "Oh my, are you alright?" The figure asked.

With her vision finally returning, Valerie opened her eyes and looked up to see what looked to be a polar bear standing on it's hind legs. She would have screamed in fear if she had the energy for it. Instead it was all she could do to muster a "Who are you?"

The creature smiled at her, at least she thought it was a smile, and replied "I am Frosh, a warrior of the Far Frozen. We received a message from The Great One that one of his friends had gone missing. Am I correct to assume that you are Valerie?"

Valerie narrowed her eyes. This creature knew her name. Whoever this "Great One" was had to be pretty dangerous. "What would you do if I said yes?" She asked. It wasn't a confirmation or a denial of her identity. She would gauge his reaction before deciding what to answer. Although her only real option right now was to run. She had instinctively tried to pull a weapon on him earlier even though she knew all of hers were busted. And that was besides the fact that she was so hungry and dehydrated that she didn't think she could even aim properly, let alone fight him.

"Then I would escort you to the nearest ghost portal and return you to your home." Frosh offered his paw to Valerie who flinched away from it. He didn't let it bother him. Plenty of other ghosts were frightened by his people's appearance. This reaction was more than expected from a human. "Please understand, I mean you no harm," he tried to reassure her.

Valerie was still weighing her options. On the off chance this ghost could lead her back home, it would make things much easier. But if he was lying, she could end up in an even worse position than she was already. Though at least this time she had a working hover board she could use to escape. A thought occurred to her. "If you don't mind my asking, who exactly is this 'Great One' you mentioned?"

Frosh looked taken aback for a second before realizing his mistake. "Oh I'm terribly sorry. It often slips my mind that generally only the people of the Far Frozen use that title. The Great One is the savior of the Ghost Zone, Danny Phantom."

Valerie took a step away from the creature. Did this thing worship her own weaker Danny? Or the more powerful one that had trapped her here. Either way, she wasn't taking the chance. "I'll find my own way home, thank you," she replied cooly.

Frosh was taken aback. He was led to believe this girl was a friend of Danny's. To say this reaction was unexpected would be an understatement. Quickly regaining his composure, he said "I understand. But my people did promise The Great One that if we found you, we would ensure your safe return. So at least allow me to point you in the right direction." He turned and pointed to his right. "The nearest portal is that way. Please use caution. The path is very-" he turned back to where Valerie was only to find that she had left while he was talking. "-dangerous." He sighed. "Please be safe, young Valerie. It's much too soon for you to become a resident here."

Valerie had taken the chance to slip away while he wasn't looking. She may not trust that creature, but right now it was her best shot to get out of this place, so she followed generally the direction he had indicated. She hoped she was close. She had no idea how much longer she could last without food or water. And with the portal being as small as it was, it would be really easy to miss if she was even slightly off on her course.

The exhaustion of the day was starting to set in and her eyes started to feel heavy. She knew it was dangerous there, she knew she could easily miss the portal if she wasn't alert. She knew all of that. But try as she might to stay awake, her body demanded rest and slowly shut down.

"What do you mean you know?!" Danielle's scream reverberated across the park. Danny had to cover his ears to protect his hearing from the shrill sound. So maybe reacting so casually to what would otherwise be a huge bombshell was the wrong way to go about things. Danielle looked at him expectantly, not so patiently waiting for an answer. She kind of reminded him of Sam at that moment.

"I said I already know he's back on Earth," he said. Seeing that she was about to say something else, he quickly added, "Look, a lot's happened since the last time we saw each other." He was about to say more when his phone started ringing. Pulling it out of his pocket, he checked the caller ID. Sam. He opened the phone and brought it up to his ear. "Hey, Sam, what's up?" He answered.

"Well Desiree was so big I could see her from my house. Just wanted to let you know that help's on the way," Sam answered. Danny could hear the wind rushing past her, and could only assume she was speeding towards him on her electric scooter. "You still at the park?"

"I am, but I handled it already," Danny replied. He glanced back over to Danielle, noticing the very annoyed look on her face. "But something else did come up. Grab Tuck and meet me at my place. We'll talk there."

"On my way," Sam replied before hanging up.

"So I assume you're going to make me wait until we all get to your house before you answer any of my questions," Danielle asked impatiently.

Danny turned to see her with her arms crossed and tapping her foot in annoyance and sighed. "Look, we'll fill you in on everything that happened with Vlad when we get home." He transformed to his ghost half and waited for Danielle to do the same, looking at her expectantly.

Danielle sighed but transformed anyway. "You don't know as much about Vlad as you think you do…" she mumbled. She floated into the air, Danny following suit, and they flew to Fenton Works together.

Desiree was still incredibly angry as she entered the gaudy building the ghost boy called home. The rumor spread quickly through the Ghost Zone that Danny Phantom had started being less violent with invading ghosts, preferring instead to try and reason with them. Even going so far as to protect some from from the other ghost hunters in the area.

Desiree had simply wanted to explore the human realm, even staying clear of humans lest they vocalize some wish she would be forced to grant. She hadn't wanted to draw any attention. But that little twerp who found her didn't care to listen to a word she had to say. But the more Desiree thought about the child, the more intrigued she became by her. He looked very similar to the older Phantom, but she acted like that sour girl in black he was always with.

Desiree continued to ponder the similarities as she floated through the open portal. She rolled her eyes at that. If these fools didn't want ghosts coming here, why leave the portal open? She was about to make her way back to her lair when a high pitched humming caught her attention. She followed the sound to the source and found a sleeping girl in a tattered red and black suit floating on a beat up hunk of metal.

Desiree recognized the girl, and while she didn't know her name, she knew she was a sort of ally to Phantom. From the direction she was traveling, it looked like she had been aiming for the portal. Though with her current trajectory she was bound to miss it.

Desiree thought about just leaving her be. It wasn't her problem after all. But the ghost boy had shown her kindness tonight, giving her a choice for once in her afterlife. She sighed as she moved to the back end of the girl's device and aimed her squarely at the portal before letting go. The device advanced forward, on it's way home with it's precious cargo. Desiree smiled, satisfied with her good deed for the day, and continued on her way home.

Danny and Danielle touched down outside Fenton Works, changing back to their human forms. Just as they were about to open the door, Danny had a realization. "Oh crud. I just remembered you've never actually met my parents," he said. "And unlike me, they actually know the rest of our family. What am I gonna tell them?"

"Danny, it's fine," Danielle reassured him. "I'll just turn invisible! It'll be like I'm not even here," she said as she vanished from sight.

Danny smiled at her, or where she was at least. "Good thinking, go hide in my room. I'll be up as soon as I can." He opened the door and was immediately hit with a green ball of slime. "Right after I shower."

His parents came running up to the door. "Danny? I'm so sorry," his mother said, lowering the Fenton Foamer. "Our ghost detection alarm went off earlier so we were waiting for it to come out."

Oh, duh. I sent Desiree back through here, Danny thought, smacking himself in the forehead. "It's alright, mom. I'm gonna go clean up. Then I have some homework to get done," he said as he made his way up the stairs.

"Study hard, sweetie! Your father and I are gonna go patrol the town for whatever set off the ghost alarm," Maddie shouted after him as she and Jack ran out the door.

Jack popped his head back in after a beat. "And don't forget to clean the lab!" He shouted before following after his wife.

One thorough shower later, Danny walked into his room to see Danielle waiting for him with Sam and Tucker. "Hey Danny," Tucker greeted. "We were just keeping Danielle entertained while you were in the shower."

"The girl has more energy than you did at that age," Sam said tiredly.

"Tell me about it," Danny replied. "She just about cracked a rib when she hugged me earlier." Looking around, he noticed they were still missing someone. "Hey, where's Jazz?"

Tucker and Sam glanced at each other before answering. "Well we were gonna grab her," Tucker started.

"But you know how she gets with ghost stuff," Sam finished for him.

"Guys, she's my sister!" He threw his hands up to emphasize his point. "I can't hide the fact that I have a clone slash cousin she's never heard of forever." He didn't miss how Danielle flinched when he said clone. He knew she was sensitive about her origins. It made her feel like she wasn't her own person.

"You're right, Danny," Sam said as she stood up. She made her way to the door, stopping to give him a kiss on the cheek. "I'll go get Jazz."

Danny smiled after her before turning back to his room. He stopped when he saw the Cheshire grin on Danielle's face from where she sat on his bed. "So you two finally hooked up, huh," she asked. "I always knew you would," she said smuggly.

"Hey, get in line," Tucker said. "I had bets with half the school that they'd end up together before you were even born," he announced proudly.

"Oh really," Danny said, glaring at him. Tucker flinched at the tone in his friend's voice. "And just how long have you been betting on my love life?"

"Uh, since middle school?" Tucker asked weakly. Danny nodded. He turned intangible and overshadowed Tucker. Danielle watched as Tucker stood up and walked to the bathroom. She heard the shower turn on followed by him shouting "Hey!"

Danielle giggled to herself as Danny appeared before her. Tucker walked in with a towel around his soaked head, trying to save his wet barrette. "Not cool, dude," Tucker mumbled.

"Neither is betting on two of your friends getting together," Danny replied as he sat on his bed next to Danielle who was still trying to get over her giggling fit.

"If you're done picking on Tucker," Sam said as she walked back in. "I found Jazz."

"Hey, Sam said you had some important ghost stuff to-" Jazz stopped as her eyes landed on Danielle. She looked between the girl and her brother, making note of the similarities between them. "Uh, who's that," she asked.

"Jazz, don't freak out, ok. This is Danielle." Danny explained to Jazz everything about Danielle's origin. From her creation as Vlad's willing pawn, to her betrayal of Vlad when she realized he didn't actually love her, to when she needed to be stabilized to keep from literally falling apart.

Jazz listened intently to every heart wrenching and gruesome detail. When Danny finished his story, she sat next to Danielle and grabbed her in a gentle hug. "It'll be ok now. You always have a place to stay here," she said.

Danny was shocked his sister was taking this so well, but he had to step in. "Jazz, we can't tell mom and dad about her."

Jazz look up at him, surprised. "Why not? Once we explain who she is, I'm sure they'd love to take her in."

It was Sam's turn to speak up. "Have you already forgotten, Jazz? Clockwork reset the time stream. They don't know Danny has ghost powers anymore," she said.

Danielle perked up at that. "Hold on. Clockwork? Time stream? What happened while I was gone," she asked.

Danny smiled. "You're in for one heck of a story, kid."

A/N: This is your final warning to read "A Glitch in Time"before continuing this story if you haven't already, as in the next chapter, I won't be glossing over the plot like I did with Dani's backstory. Also, don't get used to chapters coming out this fast. I try to update as soon as possible but sometimes a chapter just takes longer to write.
