Prologue

She'd been silent for almost the whole trip so far. It was strange, given the talkative nature of the blue-eyed miko seated in the car's passenger seat. A heavy air seemed to loom over her, and her bright blue eyes had adopted a faraway look inside them. She merely observed the passing scenery, but he could tell that she wasn't truly taking any of it in.

They stopped at a stop sign, and he reached to turn off the noise coming from the radio. The sudden silence did the trick, and she slowly tore her gaze away from the window at her side.

"What's wrong?" she asked after a slight delay. Her hand fell to join her other on her lap. With no other cars in sight, he didn't bother to move.

"What're you asking me for?" Inuyasha remarked. "That's what I was gonna ask you."

"What do you mean?" Kagome asked, blinking innocently as she tilted her head to the side. While the simple gesture made his chest feel warm, he ignored it and let his hands fall from the steering wheel.

"You haven't said a word since we left," he remarked. "At first, I thought you were just tired," he continued, rubbing the back of his head. "But you've just been staring out the window lost in your head for hours now." Kagome opened her mouth to say something, only to close it a second later when the words couldn't form. "It's not like you. It's weirding me out."

She glanced down at her lap, sighing softly when she realized she'd been called out.

"Did you even wanna go in the first place?" he asked, referring to their destination. He watched as she unfolded the letter she'd received in the mail for the umpteenth time since they'd left. While he didn't know the specific contents of it, he knew enough.

A memorial service for a childhood friend of hers. A friend who'd died long ago.

"Of course, I want to go," Kagome responded, refolding the letter with gentle motions. She held it with a delicate grip, not letting the paper wrinkle. "I just…-" She paused and sighed. The nagging feeling in her chest refused to go away. Distant memories kept coming back to her- one much more prevalent than the rest. She didn't like the feeling it left her with.

"Seven…- Eight…- Nine…- Ten!"

Upon reaching the last number, she pulled her hands back from her eyes as she turned. A melodic tune echoed through the room, the loud buzz of talking parents and screaming children nearly loud enough to drown it out.

The rainbow lights shining down on her from overhead made their game a bit harder, not that any of them really cared. Just as she was about to go off and search for her friends, a person in a bulky, yellow rabbit costume stepped in front of her. Taken by surprise, she froze as she looked up at the person blocking her path away from the corner she counted in.

She wasn't sure where they'd come from, but the hallway marked off for staff to her right seemed like the best guess.

"Hello there!"

Right away, an awful feeling snaked up her spine at his presence. The suit, while it looked like Bonnie- the rabbit animatronic in the band- was a strange shade of yellow. It wasn't an animatronic, either. She wasn't sure how, but she could vaguely make out the silhouette of the man within the suit. She looked away from him, looking for a path to take that'd lead her to her mother, or perhaps even just one of her friends. To her growing unease, there was none.

She took a step back, but that did nothing. All it did was lead her further into the corner.

"Do you wanna see a fun surprise?" he asked. Even though she shook her head, he still took her by her wrist and pulled her along as he returned to the hall labeled Staff Only. "Come on!" He encouraged. "It'll be loads of fun, I promise!"

She tugged to free her wrist from his grip, to no avail. "Let go of me!"

Her shout was drowned out by the background noise, and it was mere seconds later that she was already halfway down the hallway with the stranger garbed in the yellow costume.

No matter how hard she tried, she wasn't able to tug herself free as he dragged her further and further down the hall.

She wasn't sure as to what had happened after that moment. The memory just cut off abruptly, and the weight of it gnawed at her brain. The next thing she could remember was her hearing her mother's voice, and she had somehow gotten away to get to her.

"You just what?" Inuyasha asked, and Kagome realized how abruptly she'd gone silent. She sighed and brushed the hair from her face.

"It's been such a long time since I saw any of them," she eventually said. He could tell by her scent that that wasn't what bothered her so much. "It'll probably be so awkward after so long." She glanced at him, a wry smile flashing across her face. "I kinda feel bad that I can't tell you more about them to help you know what to expect out of them," she added shortly after.

With their meetup plans fully made, Kagome had explained to her childhood friends about her companion tagging along. He wouldn't stick around for long, after all since he had other things to attend to while she was busy. For the most part, they were excited to meet him either way.

"Eh, don't worry about that," Inuyasha scoffed in response. Kagome sighed, not at all surprised or offended by the words.

"Are you at least gonna tell me what's actually bothering you?" he asked, taking full advantage of her silence.

Knowing she'd been found out, Kagome breathed another sigh. No reason to dance around it anymore.

"All of this so suddenly…" she trailed off, picking her words carefully. "It just brought back some memories I didn't know I had, and I can't really make any sense of them, either."

"Yeah?"

She nodded. "I can't even gauge if it's a good thing or bad. Some of them at least feel far from positive…" she trailed off. She shook her head then, brushing the thoughts off entirely. "I might just be overreacting." At least, that's what she hoped it was. "I'm sure I'll feel better once we actually get there," she added with a laugh that felt a bit too forced.

She knew she was likely just making excuses so she didn't have to entertain the looming thoughts dancing through her brain. Either way, it succeeded in making her feel a tad bit better.

For now, at least, it did.

Auroua-chan: I've been working on this for a little bit. The rating may change later down the line due to violence and stuff.

Following chapters will be a bit longer than this.

I also have plans for an Inuyasha crossover with the FNaF movie

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Folllow, thank you!

Bye for now~
