Relief
The meeting was anything but easy. From having to bring up her father's death to subjecting Heine to mockery within her cell, it all didn't matter too much. What did matter was her people's safety.
Viper was on edge the entire time, thinking and hoping that the kingdom of Grace would be gracious enough to help her people live.
She'd presented her own life and nearly prostrate herself in front of the grace embassies in hopes of saving her people from extinction.
It was only when the little girl with the Group whose name she'd come to learn was Alice, took a weight off her shoulders.
"For now, we'll figure out what to do with you after we take you back to our hideout. We'll take temporary custody of you and Heine. Leave the negotiations with the kingdom of Grace to me. If you're moving to our city, at the very least, I'll guarantee the lives of your people."
Everything felt lighter than air at the sound of those words.
Not because it gave her some sort of comfort regarding her own safety or personal interests. No.
But a small comfort for her people, now having hope that they would survive.
She couldn't be more grateful.
