Prologue:
Jay was blinded by the lights, and there were color blurs everywhere. He couldn't place the voice, but he recognized it when he heard it. How far away was he?
"Jay Walker, are you able to reply?" A person wearing a white coat said. His vision began to clear up enough for him to recognize that he was in a hospital. As Jay surveyed his surroundings, he focused on a single individual.
Cole.
Cole stood and moved in the direction of Jay's hospital bed. Coles had cuts on his torso and bruises all around his face, which Jay saw. His gi was ripped, but it appeared that he was wearing it.
"We succeeded, Jay, we won the fight," Cole exclaimed with a feeble smile.
"Mr. Brookestone, since you know he's awake, you should definitely get medical attention," Assisting Cole to leave, the physician said. Jay felt annoyed, depressed, and perplexed. He just felt awful, and he wasn't sure why. Like he had a head injury, or anything that prevented him from recalling. A stabbing pain tore through his chest as he attempted to sit up. He grabbed onto his stomach with a painful yelp.
"Take care of yourself, Mr. Walker. You will be in the hospital for several months due to severe injuries sustained from a stab wound that pierced clean through your torso.
What….?
Jay slowly but surely remembered. His mind was filled with flashbacks, and every one of them involved suffering, regret, and neglect. Maybe even betrayal. Was everything that he went through.. worth it?
