Hello there! I hope it's not too late to say Happy New Year. I had promised season two of BOF, but I am still working on it. This was particularly inspired by a certain series I watched about a woman being cheated on by her best friend. I apologize for the delay in releasing season two of BOF. Rest assured, I am putting in my best efforts to ensure it lives up to your expectations. Season two aside, this idea came to me before the end of the year.

Here is the prologue. I will give you a brief background on it that will not appear in the summary. Jan Di knows Jun Pyo is cheating on her with Jae; in fact, she finds out a few months after her first miscarriage, and she attempts suicide, but she's saved by the masked man who promises to watch over her and protect her from any harm. As the story progresses, Jan Di discovers the masked man's true identity and forms a deep bond with him, leading to a complicated love triangle between the masked man who marries Jan Di, giving her a new identity with her son, Jan Di, and Ji Hoo, including Jun Pyo, who has been drowning in guilt after causing harm to Jan Di.

The italics is a song inspired by my favorite musician who sang Broken Vow

"Where did I go wrong?" she choked with a sob, covering her mouth hoping nobody noticed what she was seeing and her presence.

Tell me her name I want to know. she began her voice filled with pain.

The way she looks and where you go.

I need to see her face—I need to understand

Why you and I came to an end?

Tell me again I want to hear!

How broke my faith in all these years?

Who lays with you at night when I'm here all alone?

Remembering when I was your own.

I'll let you go,

I'll let you fly,

Why do I keep asking why?

I'll let you go,

Now that I found,

A way to keep somehow.

More than a BROKEN VOW

Ji Hoo was distressed. He grabbed Gu Jun Pyo's collar and asked him a question that seemed to have been plaguing his mind for the past three days. "Gu Jun Pyo… I need to know. Can you tell me where Jan Di went wrong? What could she have possibly done to make you cheat on her for three long years without feeling any guilt?"

Yi Jeong and Woo Bin could sense the tension in the room and quickly held Ji Hoo back. Despite his friends' efforts, Ji Hoo was determined to get an answer out of Gu Jun Pyo.

"Just tell me why, Gu Jun Pyo. Why did you do it?" Ji Hoo's voice quivered with a mix of anger and hurt as he pleaded for an explanation. The room was silent, the weight of his question hanging heavily in the air. "Why is she not good enough for you?" Ji Hoo's voice was getting louder. "Moreover, you did it with her best friend—Ha Jae Kyung. Why Gu Jun Pyo? If you had told me, I wouldn't have allowed her to get married to you in the first place." Ji Hoo's eyes burned with a fierce determination, his heart pounding with the need to understand. His words echoed in the room, leaving Gu Jun Pyo speechless. The silence stretched on, each second only intensifying Ji Hoo's desperation for an answer.

Gu Jun Pyo's heart sank as he took a deep breath, his eyes filled with remorse. He knew he had made a grave mistake, and the consequences were going to be severe. "It's not that Jan Di isn't good enough," he finally replied, his voice filled with regret. "I was young and foolish, and I made a terrible mistake. I can't justify my actions, but I thought I would be having a one-night stand with Jae—"

"Jae?" Ji Hoo interrupted him before bursting into laughter. "She is no longer a monkey, but she is still Jae." Ji Hoo chuckled, shaking his head. "You really messed up, Jun Pyo. If only I had listened to my grandfather's advice and married her before you came back, my Jan Di's life wouldn't be a joke right now, Gu Jun Pyo."

Jun Pyo's face paled as he realized the extent of the damage he had caused. The weight of his regret grew heavier, knowing that his actions had not only hurt himself but also those he cared about. He had cheated on his wife, Jan Di, with Jae Kyung, and now the truth was out.

"File for a divorce." Ji Hoo ordered, his voice stern and unforgiving. "I don't care if she is pregnant, but I want you to cut ties with Jan Di, or I will tell her everything."

"Ji Hoo," Yi Jeong and Woo Bin chimed in, trying to calm him down. "Please calm down."

But Ji Hoo was not in the mood to be pacified. He was furious at Gu Jun Pyo for what he had done to Jan Di and was determined to make him pay. "And you two…" he turned to Yi Jung and Woo Bin. "You knew our best friend was cheating on his wife, and you let him go through with the wedding? And even after the wedding, he continued cheating? What kind of friends are you? What are you made of?" Ji Hoo's voice trembled with anger as he confronted Yi Jeong and Woo Bin. "I trusted you both, and yet you stood by silently while our best friend betrayed the woman he claimed to love. How could you let him hurt Jan Di like this? Are loyalty and integrity meaningless to you?" His disappointment was palpable, his eyes filled with a mix of hurt and disbelief.

"We thought—"

"SHUT UP! Ji Hoo interrupted, his voice now raised with frustration. "Your excuses don't matter anymore. Actions speak louder than words, and your actions have shown me that you value your friendship with him more than you value Jan Di's well-being. I can't believe I ever considered you both my friends."

The voice of Ga Eul echoed behind the four boys. "So, it's true," she asked. Upon approaching him, she asked, "Is it true you've been cheating on my best friend, Jae Kyung?"

"Ga Eul?" Yi Jeong, her husband, muttered, "What are you doing here?"

Ga Eul ignored her husband's question as she slowly stood in front of Gu Jun Pyo. "Answer me, are you the father of the baby Jae Kyung is carrying now?" She asked and added, "Are you the father of Ji Min?" Ga Eul's voice trembled with a mix of anger and hurt as she confronted Gu Jun Pyo. Her heart sank at the thought of her best friend being betrayed by someone she once trusted.

Gu Jun Pyo's face turned paler as he stuttered, "I…I don't know what you're talking about."

A sound of slap hit his face as Ga Eul's hand connected with his cheek. The room fell silent as everyone watched in shock, including Ga Eul herself, who couldn't believe what she had just done. Her eyes filled with tears as she replied, "I saw you with Jae Kyung the night before you left for your honeymoon with Jan Di. Gu Jun Pyo. Don't lie to me!" She exclaimed. "Why did you marry my best friend, yet you were cheating on her?!" she asked, grabbing the collar of Jun Pyo, her voice trembling with anger and hurt. The tension in the room grew thicker as Ga Eul's words hung in the air, leaving everyone waiting for Jun Pyo's response.

His face turned pale, his eyes avoiding hers, and he finally muttered, "I...I made a mistake. I don't have an excuse."

The tension in the room grew thicker as everyone awaited his response.

"You know, that Taiost from the temple was right… The bonded suffer, but the bondless suffer even more," Ga Eul uttered softly. "You and Jan Di are not soulmates. You forced your way into her life, and now this…" Her voice cracked with emotion. "I should have listened to that Taoist to save my best friend from you," she said as she walked away, leaving behind a trail of shattered trust and a broken friendship. Her words echoed in the cold silence, a painful reminder of what was lost.

As Ga Eul exited the room, the tension between Ji Hoo and Gu Jun Pyo reached a boiling point. Without warning, Ji Hoo launched himself at Gu Jun Pyo, his fist connecting his best friend's face with a sickening thud. Gu Jun Pyo stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock and pain.

Before he could recover, Ji Hoo delivered another brutal blow, sending Gu Jun Pyo crashing to the ground. The impact echoed through the room as Ji Hoo's rage continued to boil over. He was consumed by betrayal and anger towards his once closest friend.

In a desperate attempt to protect himself, Gu Jun Pyo threw a hard kick at Ji Hoo's abs, the impact causing Ji Hoo to double over in pain. But even as he gasped for breath, Ji Hoo refused to back down.

"This is for cheating on Jan Di for three years and breaking her heart repeatedly," Ji Hoo seethed with anger, his voice thick with emotion. His face twisted in pain; he dodged another punch from Gu Jun Pyo, his eyes blazing with fury.

As the two friends-turned-enemies continued to fight, the room was filled with a sickening sound of flesh colliding with flesh. Each blow was fueled by a deep sense of betrayal, as Ji Hoo was overwhelmed with memories of Jan Di's pain.

Despite the pain and the anger, Gu Jun Pyo refused to give up. "I love Jae…she is the only girl that made me feel like I was a man," he said, his voice shaking with emotion. He punched Ji Hoo in the face, the sound echoing through the room.

Ji Hoo's determination only grew stronger as the fight escalated. He was driven by a need to teach Gu Jun Pyo a lesson. But even as he fought, he couldn't help but wonder if their friendship could ever be salvaged. Each blow left a deep sense of betrayal, forever shattering their friendship. "Then why didn't you marry her instead of Jan Di? You jerk?" Ji Hoo's words cut through the air, filled with anger and disappointment. Gu Jun Pyo staggered back, his face contorted with pain and regret. "Why did you marry her?"

Gu Jun Pyo's eyes filled with remorse as he struggled to find the right words. "I didn't marry her out of love, Ji Hoo," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "It was a decision made out of duty and obligation for my company's reputation and my family's expectations."

"Company? I will make sure that by the end of this day, your company will lose all its investors. You and your love for Jae will not be able to save it. I promise you, Gu Jun Pyo. Ji Hoo's voice was filled with determination as he made his threat. "Your actions have consequences, and I won't let you escape them."

"Are you threatening me?" Gu Jun Pyo's eyes narrowed as he stared at Ji Hoo, his anger simmering beneath the surface. "You have no idea what you're getting yourself into," he warned, his voice laced with a dangerous edge. "But mark my words, Ji Hoo, I won't go down without a fight. And if you think you can destroy everything I've built, you're gravely mistaken."

"You've ruined Jan Di's life... I have nothing to lose," Ji Hoo replied, his voice steady and resolute. "I will do whatever it takes to make sure you pay for your actions."

Gu Jun Pyo's expression hardened, and his gaze locked with Ji Hoo's. "We'll see about that," he sneered a hint of defiance in his voice. "But remember, Ji Hoo, revenge has a way of consuming those who seek it."

"FYI, I am not like you, and this isn't revenge," Ji Hoo calmly responded, maintaining his composure. "I am merely seeking justice for Jan Di," he added, his eyes filled with determination, and he was gone.

Woo Bin and Yi Jeong had decided to stay out of the fight between Ji Hoo and his best friend and let them resolve their issues independently. They knew that interfering would only worsen matters and potentially cause more harm than good. As they watched from the sidelines, they couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the sight of their once tight-knit group falling apart. It was a painful reminder that betrayal could test and break even the strongest bonds.

"I wish I had stopped Jun Pyo the day I found out," Yi Jeong said, his voice filled with regret.

Woo Bin nodded in agreement and added, "I should have realized the signs earlier. Jan Di is also our friend, and we should have stopped their wedding before it was too late."

Yi Jeong sighed heavily and said, "I wonder how Jan Di will feel once she finds out Gu Jun Pyo is cheating on her with her best friend. It's heartbreaking to think about the pain she'll go through when she discovers the truth. We should have protected her from this betrayal."

Woo Bin nodded solemnly, his expression filled with remorse. "We failed as friends by not intervening sooner. Jan Di deserves better than this, and we need to find a way to support her through this difficult time."

"I'm worried about her, especially now that she's pregnant. She could also lose the second child," Yi Jeong added, his voice heavy with concern.

The weight of the situation seemed to grow heavier as Woo Bin's words hung in the air. "We should have supported Ji Hoo to be with Jan Di from the beginning," he said, his voice filled with regret.

Yi Jeong nodded and replied, "Just like Ga Eul said, The bonded suffer, but the bondless suffer even more." He recalled all the times when Ji Hoo and Jan Di were bonded but couldn't act on their feelings due to circumstances. Now, with the added complication of Jan Di's pregnancy, the stakes feel even higher, and the potential for loss feels unbearable.

"I remember when we went to the temple a week before Jun Pyo and Jan Di's wedding," Woo Bin began with a sad smile. "The red knot appeared on Ji Hoo and Jan Di's wrists, symbolizing their bond and commitment to each other. It was beautiful, but we ignored it, saying it was meant for Jun Pyo and her instead. Do you remember?"

Yi Jeong nodded, recalling how he tore the thread when they weren't looking, hoping to break the bond between Ji Hoo and Jan Di. He had convinced himself that it was for their own good, but now he couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for his actions.

"Do you think Ga Eul will tell her the truth?" Woo Bin asked curiously, breaking the silence. "She is your wife and a best friend to Jan Di."

"All I know is that she's going to Jae Kyung's place to confront her for her betrayal," Yi Jeong replied, his voice tinged with concern. "I hope Ga Eul can find the right words to explain everything without causing too much pain. Jan Di deserves to know the truth, but I worry about how she will handle it."

"We can tell her after she gives birth and has had some time to recover," Woo Bin suggested, hoping to ease the burden on Jan Di.

It was around 10 p.m. when Ji Hoo showed up at Jan Di's house, surprising her with her favorite bowl of noodles that he had secretly learned to make for her. Jan Di's eyes widened in disbelief as she saw Ji Hoo standing at her doorstep, holding the steaming bowl of noodles. The aroma filled the air, instantly making her mouth water, but the smile was wiped off when she saw his bruised face and swollen eye. Concern washed over Jan Di as she rushed to his side, gently touching his injuries. "What happened to you?" she asked, her voice filled with worry.

Ji Hoo hesitated for a moment before finally confessing, "I was in a fight."

"Come in, Sunbae," Jan Di urged, leading Ji Hoo into the house and guiding him to the living room. She quickly grabbed an ice pack from the freezer and gently placed it over his eye, trying to ease the pain and reduce the swelling while softly caressing him unconsciously.

"Is it better now?" she asked, concerned.

"Yes, Jan Di," Ji Hoo replied, feeling some relief as the pain subsided. He closed his eyes and sighed in happiness, his anger subsiding along with the swelling. Being in her arms and feeling her hands caressing him was heavenly, and Ji Hoo knew he never wanted this moment to end. He felt a sense of comfort and security that he hadn't experienced in a long time.

Ever since she got married, their friendship has altered significantly. They were no longer as close as they used to be, and he couldn't help but miss how things used to be. Her life now revolved around Jun Pyo, her husband, and she seemed to have forgotten their shared memories and inside jokes. It was a bittersweet realization for him as he realized their bond had changed, and he couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness. Ji Hoo understood that people grow and priorities shift, but he couldn't help but long for the effortless connection they once had. Despite this, he knew he had to accept the changes and cherish the memories they had created together.

"Is Gu Jun Pyo around?" Ji Hoo asked.

"No," she replied sadly. "Jun Pyo told me he had a lot of work to do."

Of course, Ji Hoo knew that it was a lie and that Gu Jun Pyo was intentionally avoiding her for the sake of his mistress. He couldn't help but feel anger and disappointment toward his friend. Even after feeling guilty, he still dared to go and find his mistress when Jan Di, his pregnant wife, was in the house alone with nobody looking after her.

"At what time will he come back?" Ji Hoo asked.

"When he sleeps out, he returns in the morning and then leaves again."

"If that's the case…" Ji Hoo said, pulling Jan Di to sit beside him. "I will stay and look after you while he's gone. I will pamper you just like before."

Jan Di looked at Ji Hoo sorrowfully because she knew everything from the start and pretended to be innocent. "Did you receive the song I composed?" she asked.

"Yes, I did, but why such a sad song?" Ji Hoo asked.

Jan Di let out a deep sigh and lowered her gaze, her voice trembling with sadness. "It's just that… this song reflects exactly how I feel inside, Ji Hoo. The lyrics express the intense pain and loneliness I've been hiding from everyone, even myself." She paused for a moment, her eyes filling up with tears. "I don't know how to deal with this overwhelming feeling of emptiness, and I'm afraid of what might happen if I keep pushing it away."

Ji Hoo's expression softened, his eyes filled with empathy and concern. "Jan Di," he said gently, "you don't have to face this alone. I'm here for you, no matter what. You can always talk to me about anything that's bothering you, and together we'll find a way to make it better."

Jan Di looked up at him, her heart full of gratitude and appreciation. She leaned into his touch as he placed his hand on her cheek, feeling the warmth of his palm against her skin. "Thank you, sunbae," she whispered, "your presence means more to me than words can express. Just being with you makes me feel less alone."

Jan Di looked up at Ji Hoo, tears streaming down her face. She had been struggling with some personal issues for a while now, and it was starting to take a toll on her. Ji Hoo had always been there for her through thick and thin, and today was no different.

Ji Hoo sat down beside her, placing a comforting arm around her shoulders. He looked into her eyes and smiled gently, his thumb tracing gentle circles on her cheek. "I understand," he said softly. "But please, Jan Di, don't keep your pain locked up inside. Let me help you carry the burden, and we'll find a way to improve things together."

Jan Di nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, Ji Hoo," she whispered. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Ji Hoo chuckled, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. "You don't have to do anything alone," he said. "I'm here for you, always."

Jan Di took a deep breath, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Okay," she said softly, "but can we just eat the noodles you brought me now? I've been craving them for days, and I'm starving."

Ji Hoo nodded, his heart swelling with love for this amazing woman. "Of course," he said, "let's eat first, and then we can talk about anything you want." He took her hand in his and led her to the table, feeling grateful for the opportunity to be there for her. "And how is the baby?" he asked, knowing that it would help Jan Di to talk about something positive for a change.

"The doctor said I should be stressed about the development of the fetus since it's still delicate. You know what Sunbae…I envy Ga Eul and Jae Kyung. Their pregnancies were smooth, but mine has never been smooth because I ended up with a miscarriage, and now I fear this one won't make it up to the fourth month. Is God angry with me?" she asked.

"Jan Di-ah," Ji Hoo said softly, pulling her into his arms and holding her tightly. "I understand that you're feeling scared and overwhelmed right now, but please don't blame yourself or question your worth. Miscarriages can happen to anyone, and it doesn't mean that you've done something wrong."

"Is something wrong with me?"

"Nothing is wrong."

"Where did I go wrong?"

This was the first chapter…

I need to know if I can go on with it or not. 10 comments and I will continue with this.
