Smurfocalypse chapter 67: Hefty the Supersmurf
Exactly two days after setting out on their journey Hefty had successfully led his forces to the surface of the plateau. With the changing of the seasons the plateau and surrounding forest was a different looking place, but there didn't seem to be any predators in the area, and this particular part of their new world never really ever posed a threat except for Balthazar's dragon. The hike to the top of the plateau was rough, but they made it and when they did Hefty would allow them to catch them their breath.
"Alright Smurfs, take a breather." Hefty said.
The knights took off their packs and sat on the plateau in the sun. Archer was crafting himself a new bow as they waited for Hefty's orders. Archer had his longbow with him, but had lost his bladed combat bow in the fight with the blackhearted and was making a replacement as he sat on the plateau with the other Smurfs.
"I'll send Zarus out to circle the perimeter one last time, I think we are safe here." Falconer said.
"It never hurts to double check." Hefty said.
Falconer nodded and looked to Zarus.
"One more time." Falconer said and motioned for Zarus to go.
The Common Kestrel took flight and circled the area one last time.
"Do we need to go over what the formula we brought with us does again?" Hefty asked.
"Increased strength and the power of flight for two hours." Timber said.
"Right. We have two hours to make the most of this formula, and then it's gone." Hefty said.
"It would never take us two hours to fight an opponent." Farmer said.
"Maybe, maybe not we don't know this for sure. We still don't know how to kill the blackhearted." Hefty said.
"Maybe it's like with the Smurfette demons. You have to remove the head." Farmer said.
"It's a possibility I mean what are they going to do? Grow another head?" Hefty said.
Once Zarus was done circling the plateau and watching over it with his superior eyesight the bird returned to Falconer, and with everyone present Hefty had enough sitting around.
"Is that bow about finished?" Hefty asked Archer.
"Almost." Archer said as he worked.
"I hope you Smurfs are ready. Because today's challenge will not be easy for any of you." Hefty said as he stood up.
Hefty removed the formula of strength from his pocket and popped off the cork with his thumb.
"Once I take this formula I will come at you all with all I've got. There will be no holding back. Your mission today is to defeat me." Hefty said.
Hefty had the skill to defeat ever Smurf present as he was, but once he took this potion he would likely be unstoppable.
"We will use training weapons only. No tricks when fighting a fellow knight." Hefty said.
The Knights removed all their battle weapons and reached for their training weapons. Archer postponed the crafting of his new bow, retrieved his training bow and arrows, and joined the others around Hefty.
"A word of advice⦠If you decide to fight me one on one at a time. I will win today." Hefty said.
Hefty then splashed himself with the potion. The magic entered his body through every pore on his skin and empowered him. The other Smurfs watched as Hefty picked up a rock the size of his fist and crushed it in his bare hand. He then drew his two handed training sword and rushed Timber immediately swinging it nearly hitting the Smurf in the face as he just barely dodged. Farmer came in for the flank from behind, but Hefty turned and swung his sword at Farmer with such strength it caused an arc of wind to fly from the sword and sent Farmer flying. Hefty continued his pursuit of Timber, swinging his sword once reaching the Smurf only for Timber to parry the attack with his axe. The weapons clashed and Timber was sent sliding back from the recoil. Hefty remained unscathed. As Hefty and Timber spared Clockwork came in to attempt to rush into Hefty from the side. Hefty dropped his sword momentarily and grabbed Clockwork by the waist as he attempted his attack and threw the wooden Smurf clear across the plateau. He was then struck by a training arrow, and noticed that Archer was putting pressure on him with arrows. Meanwhile Zarus circled Hefty from far above and began to pursue him all the while Archer was firing arrows as him. Sweepy closed in for an attack, swinging his mace at Hefty's gut. Hefty dodged, and then was grabbed by Zarus. Right then and there the bird could have killed Hefty quite quickly with a bite to the neck, but obviously didn't. Instead Falconer ordered Zarus to fly Hefty several feet above the plateau.
"Let's see if the formula really allows you to fly!" Falconer said.
"Why didn't I think of this? Good idea Falconer!" Hefty said.
"Drop him!" Falconer said.
Hefty was hating this. Perhaps the only thing he truly feared was heights, but he was doing well to mask it. Zarus screeched and then released Hefty from his grasp. Hefty began to fall towards the earth quickly, but just as he was about to hit the ground he stopped in mid-air and began to float. Hefty then flew after Falconer with great speed and tried to attack him from above, but was stopped by Zarus when the bird flew into the Smurf sending him flying forward threw the air. Hefty came to a stop, and as he stood in mid-air Clockwork jumped up to engage him in combat again. The artificial Smurf came in quick with a right hook, but Hefty grabbed his fist and once again threw him clear away from the fighting. Hefty dashed down from the air itself and began swinging his sword at Sweepy. Sweepy being much faster without the armor on was able to dodge nearly every swing. The last swing was parried by Sweepy's mace. The Smurfs held their ground pushing their weapons against each other until Sweepy's was literally sent sliding backward on the smooth stone ok plateau surface. Hefty let go causing Sweepy to suffer from the sudden recoil. He stumbled a couple steps forward completely missing Hefty with his mace. This earned the Smurf a punch to the gut that hurt so badly it caused Sweepy's eyes to bulge as he half screamed half coughed. Sweepy fell to the ground and grasped his gut in pain, and clearly was no longer able to fight.
"That's one down." Hefty warned just before being shot by three rubber tipped training arrows in the ribs causing him to wince.
He was then approached from behind by Timber who had his axe raised high in the air above his head ready to go in for a sneak attack, but Hefty saw the axe cast a noticeable shadow over him which warned him of the oncoming attack. Hefty turned around and struck Timber in the side with his sword sending Timber flying in one direction, and his training axe in another. Meanwhile Clockwork tried to go for the rescue to save Sweepy who was still down and recovering from Hefty's intense punch. Hefty went to intercept when he saw Zarus swoop down from above with his talons out and had to perform a combat roll to avoid being either attacked or picked up. Hefty immediately transitioned the roll into a kick off the ground where he once again took flight and made his way straight for Falconer with such speed the Smurf could not run away. Hefty swung his sword with all his might at Falconer releasing a gust of wind seemingly from the sword which sent Falconer off his feet. He was then caught by Zarus, and the falcon transported Falconer to the opposite side of the plateau before safely dropping him. Falconer then readied his own special training weapon, a Smurfgun that fires beanbags. Falconer motioned to Zarus and the Falcon nodded as though they had an unspoken understanding of their next move. Falconer reached for the potion Brainy had given him in his pocket, and popped the cork off with his thumb as Zarus perched on his arm guard. He then splashed the formula onto his falcon rather than himself. It was time to take it up a notch.
