They're down, they're losing. All is lost, the Digiworld, the earth, there's no hope. Nothing cane be done. Wade Barrett gasps and looks over, locks eyes with Heath Slater. He grits his teeth and groans, dropping his head back down to the ground.
Mox is being rampaged by Darkness Bagramon and Seth is incapable of moving. Can just lay there and watch, heart beating fast and painful in his chest. He thinks he's dying, too.
Shinsuke closes his eyes and thinks about Kazuchika Okada and his other NJPW brethren back in Japan, unaware of what's happening. How quickly destruction is befalling them all. "I'm so sorry," he breathes out, digging his fingers into the dirt and shuddering as he waits for everything to fall dark, lifeless, around him.
There's nothing to be done, no way to fix this, nothing that Wade, Shinsuke, Seth or Mox can think of. it's awful, they were trusted to lead their individual groups of Digidestined to success while saving the planet and yet here they all are, scattered along the battle field, their abilities as digidestined completely useless right now.
Seth actually crawls a little closer to Mox, reaching a hand out. "I'm sorry," he mumbles.
Mox barely moves, just blindly gropes out until their fingers lock together, and exhales slowly, squeezing Seth's hand in silent recognition.
Across the way, Wade struggles to roll over, still looking over at Heath, not wanting to die in the dirt like this, but unsure how far he can really get. He crawls, gritting his teeth, until he's closer to the others, casting a glance around at the other downed Digidestined before Heath is before him, and he can grab at him. Memories of what a horrid leader he had been during Nexus and Corre flashes through his mind and he swallows hard, watching Heath's face as he struggles to breath. "I'm sorry," he says aloud, causing Heath's eyes to snap open in surprise. "For it all, I'm sorry."
Heath's eyes soften and he rests back, his head tilted so he can stare back at Wade. "Ya were always forgiven," he mumbles, exhaling through a shudder. "Never a question."
There's nothing more really to be said as Darkness Bagramon begins to fill the sky overhead, turning everything into a dark mess of grey. Seth and Mox, Heath and Wade, Shinsuke all watch, unable to do anything to stop it, when Darkness Bagramon laughs, holding his hands out towards them. "You all have apologized," he says. "Now say your goodbyes!"
The darkness that crashes down towards them is overwhelming, can be felt even from so far away. Mox and Seth begin clinging tighter to each other, unable to believe that after all of these years, this is how it's going to end.
"Look at me," Mox yells over the rushing sound of it approaching. "Rollins! Look at me!"
Seth finally turns his head and their eyes lock and Mox nods, squeezing his hand tighter. "Don't you dare look away," he says through gritted teeth.
Seth doesn't.
