Cardona groans, trying to blink some sand out of his eyes. "Ugh, dammit," he mumbles, spitting dryly. "Everyone ok?" he calls out, trying to put some strength back into his voice and failing.

"No," Mox gruffs from his left, Matt's head twisting to look in that direction. "Goddammit, what was that?"

"Something attacked," Heath says, voice muffled as he struggles to unearth himself from another pile of sand a few feet away from where Matt and Mox had landed. "Son of a bitch, this is all caked up in my hair."

"Be lucky your hair isn't as long as it used to be," Matt says, leaning over to try to help him. Heath rolls his eyes but glances thankfully over at him as they work together to get each other standing.

Once everyone's relatively back on their feet, Mox holds his digivice out, scanning for the cause of the explosion. "See anything?" he asks the digidestined and their partners scattered around the beach.

"I," Matt Rehwoldt says, then hesitates. "I think I do," he calls out. Mox, Cardona and Heath all turn towards him, then falters. "It's bad, isn't it?" he asks, looking down at the shadow looming over him.

"Matt, move," Heath urges his fellow Impact colleague, frowning. "Hurry-"

But before he can even figure out where to go or what to do, something large crashes down against him, pummeling him back into the sand.

"MATT!" Heath yells, the last thing Matt hears consciously before his body gives up and everything fades to darkness.

"Indaramon," Mox says through gritted teeth, fingers clenched around his digivice. "I should've known to expect something like you."

Indaramon sneers even as he lifts his trumpet shell back into his arms. "Maybe," he muses. "Maybe not. Either way, looks like your little friend just paid for your lack of planning, either way."

Cardona grits his teeth, glancing from Mox to Heath. "What do we do?" he hisses.

Mox glances over at Betamon and nods briskly. "Follow my lead," he says to the others, lifting his digivice up. "Digivolve now!"

The resulting light is blinding but only the humans seem bothered by it, Indaramon barely yawning as he waits. Heath and Cardona falters at this, but struggle to maintain their composure as their partners begin the process of digivolving alongside Betamon. "Soon as we get him to move, you two check on Matt."

Cardona and Heath nod, already waiting to do just that.

Plesiomon appears first and sweeps over Indaramon, slamming his full weight down upon him. Indaramon snarls and tries to blast him with him trumpet, but Plesiomon avoids and flows past Indaramon, the digimon's ego sending him lunging forward after Plesiomon.

"Go!" Heath calls to Cardona, and they run together to the crater Matt is trapped inside of. "Matt, hey man, c'mon-" He's scared almost to touch him, Cardona reaching in and tapping his face. "Come on, buddy."

"He's still breathing," Cardona offers helpfully, moving his hand down to check his pulse. "Pulse feels strong. Let's see if we can wake him up."

Heath nods anxiously, the two of them trying to focus on their friend even as the battle rages on in front of them.
