Chapter 60

Hiccups POV:

It was nightfall and I was sitting at a campfire in the middle of the woods where Wolf Fang's hunting group was attacked. I was completely alone since I sent Toothless back to the village incase the wendigo attacked the tribe, which I now knew was named Blackfoot, while I was away and I felt as if this was something I needed to do on my own. I had a bow with arrows that had dry grass wrapped around the point where tip was so I could ignite them for the wendigo. I just hoped I'd be able to stop it before it was able to claim any more victims. I went over everything I knew about wendigo's that Spirit Roamer told me before I left the village to confront the demon. They were once humans who gave in to cannibalism, which made them vulnerable to evil spirits, who turned them into wendigo's, they are only vulnerable to fire, they are incredibly powerful and master hunters who were both stealthy and knew every inch of their territory making it impossible to hide from them. I kept my ears open and my eyes peeled for any movement whatsoever for the beast but all I saw were birds, the occasional rodent and not much else. It was then I looked up and saw a bald eagle staring at me from one of the branches and smiled remembering my spirit guide from the soul cave.

I chuckled as I looked up at the eagle before it let out a screech that I somehow knew was a warning. I then felt a shadow land on me and quickly rolled out of the way as a creature around the size of a monsterous nightmare stabbed a claw into the ground where I was just sitting. I saw it had an elks skull over its head with glowing yellow eyes that seemed to be wedged into the back of its own skull as it let out an inhuman screech at me. I couldn't get a good look at it since the only light was from my fire and a small bit of moonlight coming through the tree branches. It pounced at me and took another swipe but I ducked out of the way and slid between its legs before I ran to the fire. I dived to the arrows and lit one as the beast pounced towards me. I rolled out of the way and used the arrow to stab it in the leg making it roar in pain before it ripped the arrow out and ran away while holding its burning wound. I breathed heavily as I stood up from my near death experience and looked around to see if the beast had just gone a few feet away to wait for me to lower my guard. When I was sure it was gone I walked up to the tree it had struck and saw the part that had been struck was missing a large chunk. I stared at the damaged tree part and said.

"Okay if that was the wendigo then I can't let it hit me or I'll be a dead man." I walked back to the fire pit and looked up at where the bald eagle once was and saw it still sitting there. "Thanks for the heads up on the wendigo." It just screeched before flying over me in a way that was familiar. "Are you my spirit guide?" It just flew onto a tree branch before it walked behind the tree trunk and disappeared. "I'll take that as a maybe." Before I sat down by the fire but kept my guard up through the night.

3 days later

It's been five days since my first fight with the wendigo and in those five days I have had more brushes with death then anywhere else in the places I've visited and I'm including my first trip to Greece with what the people of Greece call my labors. Everyday when I was out fishing or hunting the thing would come down from above or from behind and tried to kill me. I was often warned of its surprise attack by the bald eagle who I'm beginning to truly believe is my spirit guide. I had never been able to get a good look at the wendigo since it always attacked at night, in the shade of the trees and moved to quickly for me to get a good look at it. On one occasion the wendigo came close to ending me when it caught me by surprise and swatted me into the river I was fishing in. Before it could deliver the final blow I was able to dodge out of the way of its claws that were coming towards me. While it was recovering I ran for my fire as I dodged the wendigo's strikes as I listened to its roar and screech. When it pounced towards me I dropped to the water and slid across the wet ground towards the fire. As soon as I reached it I grabbed a part of the wood that wasn't lit and swung it at the beast striking the flaming part into the wendigo's arm making it screech in pain and flee into the forest. That was the main problem since the wendigo always fled into the forest and disappear before I could follow. It is this reason that I was now standing in the center of a circle of lit long torches looking in a large clearing with one of the long torches in my hand. I looked up at the full moon and knew this would be the right time and perfect place to face the beast and finally put an end to our hunts. I looked around at the forest with my face being illuminated by the flames as I yelled.

"WENDIGO!" I saw nothing. "WENDIGO COME OUT AND FACE ME YOU WORTHLESS BEAST AND BRING AN END TO OUR HUNTS!" Still nothing. "COME OUT AND PROVE YOURSELF AS A TRUE HUNTER AND SEE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO BRING ME DOWN!" It was then a loud screech ripped through the air as the wendigo came out of the trees as I glared at it. "YES, COME AND FACE ME DEMON!"

It screeched as it charged at me as I picked up the burning torch in my hand and got into my fighting stance. It leaped over one of my torches towards me as I dodged out of its strike and in the light of the flames I was finally able to see the true image of my foe and I was both horrified and disgusted by what I saw. The wendigo had the elk head covering his head with glowing yellow eyes in the back of the skull and I am glad that the skull covered the head since if the body were anything to go by it would give me nightmares. The body looked like a rotting corpse that just crawled out of a grave with matted fur that was covered in mud and it was so thin its ribs were actually sticking out of the chest. It had claws that were covered in both blood and mud, as was the muzzle of the skull. It looked like something out of a nightmare and knew that in killing it I would be doing not only the tribe a favor but every creature in the land since it was something that should never have been unleashed on this world. It roared at me as I stabbed at its chest with my torch but it dodged it and swiped at the stick knocking it to the side but I pulled it back so his claw grabbed the flame. It screeched and pulled its claw away as I smiled before it took another swipe at me but I held the torch up to try and block it. Unfortunately, the torch was broken in two by the strike before the wendigo was able to use this opportunity to smack me to the side. I slid across the grass and stopped when I hit one of my torches. It was as I finished shaking off the pain that I saw the wendigo coming towards me from above.

Thinking fast I grabbed the torch that was behind me and pulled it forward so it was leaning towards the wendigo. It screeched as it impaled itself on the torch through the chest before flailing around like a fish and throwing its arms and legs around. It was quite a horrific thing to see as I rolled out from underneath it and watched it was lit up with blue flames while it let out an inhuman screech that was so horrible I covered my ears to try and block it but it did nothing to dull the sound. I could only watch as its body was slowly engulfed by the flames and slowly turned into ashes before the skull, which was the only thing that remained, fell to the ground at the base of the torch while the body was engulfed in flames as its ashes fell to the ground. When the skull fell though I saw the beasts face for a second and that image will haunt me till the day I die. I was grateful its face only lasted a few seconds before the flame engulfed it since if I saw it for much longer I would have thrown up and I admit I would've looked away but I couldn't no matter how much I wanted to. Once the body was nothing but ashes I stood up and looked down at the skull before picking it up and shrugged as I looked down at it and said.

"Proof of the beasts death and a trophy from this fight." I shrugged before I set up camp for the night before I make my way to the point where Toothless is meant to pick me up since I told him to come check that place every two days.

Afternoon

Toothless and I had just landed in the village and everyone ran to greet me probably wondering if the wendigo was no more. I smiled as the people came up to us but made way for Spirit Roamer and Chief Iron Bear who were smiling at me as I dismounted. When they made it up to me Spirit Roamer hugged me before letting go and keeping his hands on my shoulder as he said.

"I am glad to see you alive and well Soaring Eagle as I feared that the wendigo would have taken your life as it did others."

"It takes a lot more than that to kill me." He smiled.

"The beast has been slain then?"

"The wendigo died by fire leaving only the elk skull and its ashes." He smiled.

"You have freed the spirit from the demon and it now soars among the ancestors thanks to your aid."

"I was just trying to do the right ting for the tribe and for the land."

"And for that we shall all be truly grateful for generations to come but the spirits have told me that your work here has not been finished yet."

"What does that mean?"

"It simply means that there are more obstacles on your path in this land." I nodded.

"Do you know what these obstacles may be?"

"I'm afraid I do not but I shall see if the spirits will tell me where these obstacles but for now you must rest for the upcoming challenges." I nodded before I walked into the crowd to answer questions.

4 days later

Life had pretty much gone back to normal for me after I had come back from my Wendigo hunt besides the people looking at me with a lot more respect. Besides that the children would often come up to me and ask me to retell them about my battles with the wendigo while the men would often ask me to join them on hunts. Because of this I rarely spent time in the village since I was often out helping the men hunt for food or collect herbs. As for the women, they thankfully were nowhere near as bad as the women from other places and mostly stuck to complimenting me and offering me places at their sides during the bonfires. As for the skull of the wendigo, it was now on my ship in storage where it would remain until I got home and could put it in my trophy room. I was also able to finally how they were able to construct their arrows and I had to say their methods were beyond impressive in making their arrows beautiful, accurate and deadly. Now I was once again in the sweat lodge with Spirit Roamer and Iron Bear going over the past few days and there was something Spirit Roamer wished to speak with me about. I looked at both men before turning to Spirit Roamer and said.

"What did you wish to speak with me about Spirit Roamer?" He looked down at the ground.

"My friend you rescued our land from a truly evil spirit and although you may have been able to overcome this obstacle another has formed."

"What do you mean?" I curled up my fists. "Is there another evil threatening the tribe?" He shook his head.

"Not our land but in the land of one of our brother tribes of the Great Plains." I uncurled my fists. "I believe you already know the shaman of this tribe?"

"How would I know him?"

"Your journey in the spirit world was not only a journey for you to find your spirit animal but a message to the other tribes." It then hit me.

"The old man in the open plains I saw." He nodded.

"Exactly!" He tossed water onto the rocks to make more steam. "He is the tribes shaman and the spirits showed him to you because his tribe is in need of your aid."

"But how will I find their tribe?"

"I can only direct you in the direction of the Great Plains but as for finding the right tribe all I can say is trust in your spirit guide and he will not lead you astray."

"I'll leave in the morning." He nodded as we continued to sweat out impurities.

Afternoon the next day

Me and Toothless were flying over the wide open fields watching a large heard of Buffalo stampede beneath us as I kept an eye out for any villages. Before I left this morning Spirit Roamer and Iron Bear told me a bit about the tribes of the Great Plains and how they are tribes that move around a lot and mostly follow the buffalo herds to hunt them for food. They also live in cone shaped tents known as teepees that they used as their homes. Once the herd had come to an end we continued our search for the tribe but still came up empty as we came in for a landing I looked around at the empty fields that went on for miles with nothing in sight. It was then I felt a shadow go over me and looked up to see a bald eagle fly over me. It was then Spirit Roamer's words of trusting my spirit guide echoed through my head so I watched as it circled above us once before taking off in another direction. I patted Toothless telling him to follow the eagle which he was quick to do.

We followed the eagle for half an hour before it took off into the skies and disappeared from sight but I knew why since I could see multiple cone shaped structures known as teepees in the distance. I knew this was the home of the tribe I had been searching for as we closed in on the teepees. When we were close enough I had Toothless come in for a landing since we didn't want to spook any of the people. When we were right outside the village there was a large group of armed men waiting for us. They all glared at me before an elderly man with long grey hair with an eagle feather in it, wearing a leather cloak with what I recognized was a medicine stick pushed his way through the crowd. I recognized him from my trip to the spirit world. He walked up to me and looked me up and down a few times before putting his hand under my eagle necklace and examining it as he asked.

"Are you the man the spirits call Soaring Eagle?"

"Yes I am." He smiled at me.

"Thank the spirits you have come."

"Why?"

"I have prayed to the spirits for a champion to save my people from the the great head and they have sent us you."

"What in the world is the great head?"

"There will be time to speak of this later but for now we must explain to the village who you are and why you have come."

"Okay but can we start by you telling me your name?"

"I am Thunder Dancer." It was then a man wearing a headdress with multiple feathers walked up.

"Thunder Dancer who is this pale face you speak with?"

"Chief Stone Face, this is the champion Soaring Eagle who the spirits have sent to aid us in our time of need." He turned to me.

"You are the Soaring Eagle?"

"That's the name I go by while in these lands."

"Is it true you vanquished a wendigo?"

"How'd you find out about that?"

"Thunder Dancer was told this by the spirits when he asked if you'd truly be able to defeat the head that consumes our people."

"Head?" Thunder Dancer answered.

"The great head is a giant head with wings, talons and rows of sharp teeth, which devours people."

"Understood." Chief Stone Face raised an eyebrow.

"This does not disturb you?"

"I've seen stranger things in my life."

"Really?"

"You'd be surprised at the things that are out there." He nodded.

"We must discuss this at some point but for now you and your mount may rest in the village until the great head returns." I nodded before he led me into the village of teepees.

2 days later

I was waiting out in the field near the village with my star sword that had appeared in my hand an hour ago, which I took as a sign, that tonight I was going to face the great head. Like with the Wendigo I left Toothless at the village to protect it if I wasn't able to stop the beast and like the wendigo he took some convincing but he eventually gave in. As I waited I mentally went over the past two days I've spent here with the tribe. It had been interesting with me learning their name was the Clatsop tribe. I often spent my days helping them hunt buffalo, gather herbs and helping out with what I could in their way of life. I was surprised how different but at the same time how different their way of life was to the tribes of the forest. I looked up at the sky waiting for the great head to make its appearance since a lot of the people had lost loved ones to this ravenous spirit and its insatiable hunger. It was then I heard a loud screech rip through the air as a large shadow fell upon the ground ahead of me. I looked up and was horrified to see a giant head with bat wings coming out of its cheeks as hair covered the whole head except the face and the two large talons coming out of the bottom. As I stared at it all I could say was.

"And I thought Snotlout had a big head."

I felt its eyes land on me as it let out another screech before diving towards me before I dived out of the way of its open talons. As its claws scraped over the ground I got a better look at the size of the great head and saw it to be around the same size as Gobber and that wasn't counting the legs with the talons. It let out another screech before taking to the skies once more as I kept my eyes on it. It dived for me once more but this time when I dodged it hovered over the ground and began swiping at me with its claws. I was barely able to dodge its strikes before I was able to stab one of its legs with my sword making it screech in pain before taking off again. I knew this wouldn't kill it but it did make it very angry if the glare with its glowing red eyes was anything to go by. I knew that an angry beast was worse than a hunting one so I needed to end this soon as I could and when I saw its hair blowing in the wind I knew how. I placed my sword in my belt leaving both my hands free when it dived for me again I stepped to the side and grabbed onto the hair on the back of its head making it fly off with me. It did some sharp turns and dives trying to shake me off by I held on tightly and riding dragons where I did this often it wasn't too difficult until I began pulling myself towards the head. When I reached the base of the hair the head screeched again as I used the rest of its hair to climb onto the top. I used one hand to hold onto the hair and the other to take my sword and raised it up with the blade facing the head as I yelled.

"NOW DIE MONSTER!"

I stabbed my sword into the head making it screech once more in pain before it began falling to the ground. It landed hard digging up dirt as it scraped across the ground, throwing up dirt as it went. As it scraped I saw it began to glow with blue flames so I quickly tore my sword out of the top of its head and jumped off rolling across the ground. When I stopped rolling I watched as the head was engulfed in the blue flame forming a large blue bonfire. When the fire died out I walked up but kept my sword at the ready until I was right in front of the head which I saw was now nothing but a giant skull. I smiled and said.

"Well that's another demonic spirit killed for the better of the local people." I turned back to the village. "Time to go tell them the great head is dead." I then began walking back to the village.

6 days later

I was back in the Blackfoot village in the forest enjoying the bonfire as I remembered what happened after I slayed the great head. When I got back to the Clatsops they were curious to know why the great head was screeching so loudly. When I told them of my battle they were shocked for a moment before Chief Stone face and Thunder Dancer demanded to see the beast themselves and when I took them they brought five of their strongest warriors along with Toothless to see the creature's skull. When they saw the skull that was once the great head that had been terrorizing their people they were so happy that they all yelled and jumped in joy before the warriors picked me up and carried me all the way back to the village. We spent the rest of the night celebrating with food, songs, dancing and more with many of the people asking me to tell them how my battle with the great head went. When morning came Toothless and I returned to the Blackfoot tribe we took the skull with us after Thunder Dancer did some ritual to ensure it never rose again. The skull now rested on my ship in the hold. As for how the Blackfoot's took to my battle they were all very impressed which resulted in my respect in the tribe growing. This lead to a few things such as the people patting me on the back, greeting me, more men inviting me on hunts, children asking me if I would take them on as an apprentice or to tell them the story of my battle again. The women however just became more frequent in their actions and began trying to hand around me more often, which I didn't mind since they weren't nearly as bad as the women from other lands.

Presently night had fallen and I was sitting in Spirit Roamer's Wingwam who had summoned me to speak of a message he received from the spirits. I just hoped if this were a mission to kill another demon it would be the last one since I was getting tired of fighting these monsters. He stirred the contents of a large bowl as he said.

"Soaring Eagle you have faced many trials since you came to our land and now the time has come for another."

"What is it I must do?"

"There is a creature which is both man but turns into a beast and it is this beast you must defeat."

"What is it?"

"The creature is known as a skin-walker or Yeenaaldlooshii." He sighed. "A human who has gained the ability to turn into a beast at night using the skin of the animal who's form they have chosen to take and a dark ritual which wise men dare not even consider using."

"How do I defeat this creature?" He looked down sadly.

"I am sorry Soaring Eagl but my knowledge on skin-walkers is limited and should you wish to know more about the beast you must ask the shaman of the tribe that it terrorizes." I nodded.

"Where can I find this beast?"

"The beast now inhabits the baron land in which you may find the houses in cliffs and as for finding which village it terrorizes all I can say is to trust in your spirit guide."

"I'll leave in the morning." He nodded.

Afternoon

I was flying over the desert like area with a red stone like environment and I had to say I was surprised at the different environments that this new land has and how the natives were all able to use it and thrive in it. I went over the plan I had for what I'd do when I found the village. I'd start by showing them that I was a friend and that I was there to help them before asking to speak with their shaman for how to fight the skin-walker and anything I should know about the beast before I faced it. I just hoped it wouldn't be too hard to fight off this beast but then again it can't be worse than the other monsters I've faced in my life like the beasts of Greece or that giant stone jaguar in El Dorado. I chuckled and hoped I could find the village in the cliff but I remembered Spirit Roamer's words about trusting my spirit guide and remembered how it lead me before. It was as thoughts of my spirit guide went through my mind that I heard a familiar screech from above since we were flying low. I looked up and saw the familiar bald eagle flying above us before taking off ahead of us as I said.

"Follow that eagle bud!" He gave a growl before he took off after it.

1 hour later

We had been following the eagle for an hour and seen nothing but all I've seen is dry plants, stones, red stone mountains and the occasional coyote, jackrabbit, mountain lion and bobcat. It was then I blinked and the eagle disappeared from my sight. I took this as a sign we were getting close to the village so I had Toothless hover as I took out my spyglass to do a look for anything like a village. I looked around until my eyes landed on a large mountain but it was what looked to be carved into the mountain that caught my attention. There was what looked to be a large number of buildings built into the side and I knew this was the place I had been looking for. I turned Toothless towards it before taking off towards the mountain.

When we got close enough I could see many people running out of the buildings to see what was going on while some held weapons in case I was a threat. We landed in the center of the buildings as a man with shoulder length black hair, a red bandanna, a red stripe painted across his nose and under his eyes and a tomahawk strapped to his back walked through them. Following close behind was an elderly man who was slightly hunched over with long white hair and a white headband and a few white feathers braided into his hair but for some reason his eyes were closed. Before I could say anything the elderly man said.

"Hello Soaring Eagle!" I cocked an eyebrow.

"You know who I am?"

"The spirits told me they would send their champion to help us in our time of need to do battle with the skin-walker."

"Alright you know who I am but who are you?" He opened his eyes to show he was blind.

"They call me Crazy Eyes!" The man next to him then stepped forward.

"And I am Chief Many Wounds!"

"It's a pleasure to meet the both of you but if it's alright I would like to speak with Crazy Eyes alone for a bit to discuss the beast I must face." They nodded before Crazy eyes lead me away to a nearby house with a single room with a sleeping mat at the back, multiple items like dried ingredients and animal pelts and in the center was a small fire pit which we both sat around.

"What is it you wish to know about the skin-walkers?"

"Well for starters how do I defeat one?"

"You must first find out who they are when they are human and when they are a beast 'say their full name' followed by 'you are a skin-walker!' and they shall die from the wrongs they have committed."

"Is there any way to tell the beast is no normal animal and how to tell what they are when they are human?"

"They are never able to fully walk through the gate to become an animal so there will be differences and if you wish to find out who they are then all I can offer you is this piece of information." He took a breath. "Any wounds they receive in their beast form they will have in their human form so when they are in their beast form try and wound them in an easy place to see and in a way that can be easily recognized."

"Is there anything else I should know before I face the beast?"

"Never make eye contact for that shall enable the beast to steal your skin and take your form." I nodded.

"Can you tell me anything about the skin-walker that's been attacking the people."

"The beast takes the form of a coyote and has brought much hardship upon my people through attacking us when we are on hunts to ruining our crops."

"I'll do what I can to stop it."

"I thank you for that Soaring Eagle but for now rest from your journey." It was then a woman with her hair tied back in a braid an orange headband and a red mask painted over her eyes walked in.

"Crazy Eyes, Chief Many Wounds wishes to speak with our guest." He nodded and stood up.

"Soaring Eagle this is Desert Flower!" He smiled. " A girl I am training in the healing arts to help our village." She smiled.

"It's an honor to meet you Soaring Eagle." She bowed for a moment. "We have heard of your battles with both the Wendigo and Great head but the beast that's attacking our tribe can not be killed that easily."

"I know!" I gestured to Crazy Eyes. "Crazy Eyes just filled me in on how to deal with it but even so I know it will not be an easy thing to defeat."

"I wish you luck in the upcoming battle."

"Thank you." After that she took me to speak with chief Many Wounds.

Four days later

In the past few days there had been no attacks by the skin-walker and for that I am grateful since it gave me a chance to study this village, their people and their way of life. I learnt how they made their Houses in cliffs and how they were known as Acoma people. I was very impressed with the way they lived and I hoped to return at sometime in the future to continue to study their ways. I had been spending some of my time getting to know the locals trying to see anyone who looked suspicious but I hadn't been able to spot anyone who would fit the description of a skin-walker. I learned a bit about some of the people though like how Crazy Eyes may be blind but he was able to use the spirits teachings to see, Chief Many Wounds was one of the tribes most fearsome warriors and Desert Flower once had a brother apprenticing under Crazy Eyes but died in a hunting accident. I often spent my days sitting on top of the mountain in which their village was built looking out into the landscape and going over my plans to deal with the skin-walker. My plan was to try and wound it in a clear place so I could tell who it was or at least find something on them that could help me identify them before taking it head on the next time it showed up.

Presently I was enjoying a ceremonial dance being performed in front of a large bonfire as the people chanted and clapped to the music playing. Toothless was up on top of the mountain keeping an eye out for anything bad while I kept an eye on everything down here. I was brought out of my thoughts by a women's scream and turned to see what she was screaming at and saw look up at the roof of a building. Standing there I saw a coyote standing on two legs looking down at the people as I felt the weight of my eagle shield and star sword form in my hands.

It pounced down from the roof towards a woman but I pushed her out of the way as I unfolded my shield pushing the beast back in the shockwave that my shield always gave. Sadly it recovered quickly and I saw a necklace with a stone pendent on it but I didn't have much time to go over this as the beast attacked me once more as everybody ran from the fight. The skin-walker charged at me once more but I side stepped and cut the beasts' upper right arm making it roar in pain before swiping at me but I stepped back out of their claws reach. I used this opportunity to give another cut across the paw making it pull its paw back. It then pounced at me once more but I held my shield up blocking the attack and causing another shockwave sending it back. As expected it roared in rage before a familiar screech filled the air followed by a plasma blast hit the ground in front of the skin-walker before Toothless landed next to me and roared at it making the skin walker run away. Toothless was ready to chase after it but I held my hand up stopping him as I said.

"No bud let it go!" He looked at me. "I've wounded it and the next time it attacks we'll be ready for it." He growled and nodded before he continued to glare in the direction in which the skin walker ran.

Five days later

It took me three days to find out whom the skin-walker was but when I did to say I was shocked to find out whom it was but at the same time it made some things clearer. I found out whom it was when I saw they were wearing the same pendent as the skin-walker and had the same cut on top of their hand as the one I had given the skin-walker in our fight. I needed to confirm my suspicions though so I secretly kept an eye on them and when they left the village at night I used Toothless to follow them from above by having Toothless fly us so high nobody could see us but low enough for me to keep an eye on them. From there I saw they had a secret Earthen house and when they left in the morning I went into investigate and saw things that I didn't know what they were but knew Crazy Eyes would. When I told Crazy Eyes about whom I believed the skin-walker was he didn't want to believe it but when I used Toothless to take them to the persons secret lair and he saw what it had he believed me. He was also horrified by what was in there telling me that there were things in there that were used in rituals that would make even the bravest men run in fear.

Now I was once again watching the ceremonial dance in the town center with Crazy Eyes leading it. As I watched the dance I let my mind wonder to the person who had become a skin-walker and wondered why they had done it. This was a horrific thing to become and in order to do it you'd need to kill a member of your own family to complete the ritual. It was absolutely horrific and disgusting what you had to do in order to become a skin-walker. I was brought out of my thoughts by a woman's scream followed by a roar. I looked up and saw the Coyote once again on the roof of a building glaring down at the people who immediately began to scatter at the sight of the skin-walker glaring down on us. It was then spotted me and growled but I never let our eyes meet remembering the warning I got. It was then skin-walker pounced down onto the ground and glared at me before it started to charge towards me. I didn't move from the spot I was standing on as I yelled.

"DESERT FLOWER, YOU ARE A SKIN-WALKER!"

She stopped and stared at me before she fell to ground squirming as smoke began to rise from her body as she let out an inhuman screech. I watched as the skin of the coyote separated revealing Desert Flower with a coyote fur on her back with the top of the head on top of her head. This lasted only a few seconds before she her body turned to dust as I watched. When it was over all that was left was her necklace, the coyote skin and a pile of dust. I walked up and looked down at it and said.

"Such is the price for the horrific deeds you committed." I then turned away so I could go find Crazy Eyes and Chief Many Wounds about the death of the skin-walker.

6 days later

I was back with the Blackfoot tribe in the forest after getting back from my trip into the desert. After I killed Desert flower Crazy Eyes and I burned the coyote skin she used in her ritual along with all the dark items we found in her earthen house. Among the things we found was an answer as to why she chose this path in the form of a piece of animal skin with writing on it. Apparently she was angry and jealous of her brother since people were always singing his praises and he got all of Crazy Eyes attention when teaching them while she and all her accomplishments were always brushed to the back of everyone's mind. This was her way of getting vengeance on the tribe and the accident that cost her brother his life was no accident but her sacrifice to become a skin walker. It was horrifying what she was willing to do for revenge upon her tribe and when everyone found out why they all felt pretty bad about it but I told them that there were others way she could've dealt with it but she chose the dark path on her own.

Now I was walking through the woods, in nothing but my pants and some patterns painted onto my body and my spirit guide necklace making my way to a sacred place, which according to Spirit Roamer can only be found by those who the spirits want to find it. He told me to go there as the spirits wished for me to be there for some reason but they didn't say why. He told me I had to do this on my own so I couldn't bring Toothless and as for finding the place he just told me to have faith in my spirit guide and he would take me there. It was at that moment I heard a familiar screech and looked up to see a bald eagle sitting on a branch as it stared down at me. I knew this eagle all too well knowing it was my spirit guide so when it took off I quickly followed until we came to a clearing with a single boulder sticking out of the ground where the eagle was now sitting. I walked up to the stone and looked down at the eagle as it spread its wings out and let out a screech before a dense fog somehow formed around us making it impossible to see a thing. It was then a voice in the fog said.

"At last we finally meet Soaring Eagle." I looked around.

"Who's there?" Another voice said.

"You have no reason to fear us Soaring Eagle for we are the spirits of nature, life and the ones who watch over the tribes of this land."

"Well what do you want with me?"

"Merely to thank you for protecting our people and saving them from the evils that befell them."

"But why did these evils suddenly appear now?" The first voice answered.

"It is at this time that the moon enters a certain alignment with the planets and stars and it is at this time when the power of darkness is increased and enables them to rise and reek havoc on the people."

"So you needed me to fight them and free the people from there terror."

"Exactly and we were quite impressed with how you took on each of the beasts."

"Well I have experience when it comes to dealing with monsters and solving mysteries like the one I had to solve to defeat the skin-walker."

"Oh yes we've been told of your adventures in the world and your mystery solving on your first trip to Egypt."

"Yeah I have to say it seems that whenever I go to a new place I always have to face some great evil."

"It is the will of the gods Soaring Eagle but now let us move on to your rewards." The fog cleared to reveal the boulder once more but this time there was a bow on it. "This bow is magic and can only be used by you and you alone like your other weapons made by the gods." I picked up the bow to examine it before the fog covered the boulder again as I noticed how it was made of wood but had intricate carvings on it, leather wrapped around the top and bottom with beads, a single eagle feather hanging at the bottom and on the wood where the tip of the arrow goes was a single eagle with its wings spread out for the arrow to rest.

"What should happen should someone else try to use it?"

"The arrow they have loaded will turn to dust and crumble."

"Impressive but what types of arrows does it use?"

"An excellent question." The fog cleared once more to reveal a quiver that resembled a bold eagle. "This quiver like the bow is magic as are the arrows inside." I picked it up before it came to life and flew onto my back with one of the wings wrapping around my shoulder right and the other going under my left arm while the eagles head came to rest just on my shoulder while the tail feathers came around my torso to meet the wings in the center of my chest all latching onto my spirit guide necklace. "The quiver will create and refill with arrows on its own but for it to do this it needs at least one night to recreate the arrows and as for the power of the arrows, you must find them out for yourself." I nodded.

"Thank you!"

"Now onto your next gift." Fog cleared once more to reveal my spirit guide sitting on the rock staring at me once more. "This is your spirit guide who has been with you through all your life as and tried to guide you in the darkest of time but it is time for you and your spirit guide to do what so few have ever been able to do in the past."

"What is that?" The bald eagle began to fly around me.

"Join together and share an ability!" I then felt the eagle dive into my back and felt as if people were jamming fifty burning knives into my back before the pain stopped. "You and your guide have formed a far deeper connection than any other human of this time knows of and with it comes the eagles eye!" I felt my right eye tingle a bit before I could see right through the fog and zoom in on things like I did with my spyglass. "The eagle eye is a tool and what it is used for is up to you." I nodded as the fog cleared once more to reveal a crystal piece which I new was a new piece for my island but unlike the others I received that were one color which consisted of green, a lighter green and orange. "An addition to your island which includes Great Plains which you will need to help with your final gift." It was then I heard the galloping of hooves before a pure white horse walked through the fog and up to me. "This mare is child of the spirits and possesses many abilities and she shall only allow you or those you approve to ride her." I looked her over and I had to say she was truly beautiful and might make a good mate for Phlegon and it was as these thoughts went through my mind that the voice said. "I believe you are right in assuming her and Phlegon would be good mates but keep in mind you cannot force them to be with each other as only time shall tell." I gently patted her neck as I smiled.

"I can't thank you enough for all this" It was then a third voice said.

"It is us who should be thanking you Soaring Eagle for you protected our people out of the goodness of your heart and expected nothing in return."

"I'd do face monsters to protect anybody for free but it always has some drawbacks."

"Let me guess!" The voice chuckled. "The fan girls and men wanting to marry off their daughters to you?"

"Yep!" The voices chuckled as the first voice said.

"Well I can understand the problem but are you sure you don't wish to try and find a nice girl to settle down with?"

"I do but these girls only see a good piece of arm candy, a way to improve their image, enhance their reputation, improve their standing in their homelands or just a way to get their hands on my fortune." I took a breath. "Then there are not only the nobles trying to marry off their daughters to me who see it as a chance to improve their families status, gain better protection or just to get me to stay in their land as a trophy but also the military people who want me to marry their daughters in order to gain access to my dragon training knowledge in order to increase the power of their military."

"That would make finding a wife difficult but never give up on finding a woman who will love you for just you."

"I never will!"

"Good but just remember there are times when you can just enjoy the company of a girl you don't have to marry." A blush came to my face as the voice chuckled before the first voice said.

"And now our time together comes to an end Soaring Eagle but until next time enjoy your life." The fog cleared and I was back in the clearing with my gifts and the mare so I put my bow over my back and crystal in my pocket before I mounted the mare.

"Let's head back to the Blackfoot tribe girl." She neighed before we took off back to the tribe where I was hoping to unlock the secrets of this mare along with the bow and arrows.

AN: Hey all I hope you enjoyed the chapter because it's going to be the last one for a while since me and my family are going away on a vaca to Cyprus for some fun in the sun. As you can imagine I won't be able to write as often so just bare with me for now. Also if there are any abilities you want the mare to have let me know and I will see if it fits in with her character and a special thanks to my pal 'Red dragon 112293' for helping me with ideas and helping get this chapter done. Until next time enjoy your days because like Hiccup you never know when they might come to an end.

P.S.

Would the guest who keeps asking me questions in his/reviews please stop asking them since I cannot reply without them getting an account and PM'ing me.
