Chapter 77

Hiccups POV:

It's been two weeks since Dagur discovered the edge and in those two weeks not a lot has really happened for me here on the edge. Violet and Siren have each made full recoveries from their wounds and I am happy to say they are once again back to their old selves but I had been training them and all my dragons a lot harder now. I'd also made sure to regularly switch the dragons on the edge with those back on my island in order to surprise my enemies should they attack again.

The night terrors didn't get off easy though since I'd also been training with them to take on multiple different dragon forms to help confuse enemies but their usual formation was by far their most powerful. The reason for this is I had trained the night terrors to each fire simultaneously when the wings of their formation flapped resulting in a huge wave of fire to come down on their target. Besides them I had also trained a large flock of terrible terrors back on Berk to act as alarms incase Dagur tried to attack again but other than them I hadn't found any new dragons to train.

I had also been spending some of my time repairing the damage done to my base which I'm glad to say was minimal and I was able to surface the sunken ships, which were now part of the Berk fleet. On these ships I found Dagur's arrow catapult and I have to admit it was quite impressive but I was able to make a few improvements to it after I figured out how it worked and how to build it. I replaced the wooden and metal parts with pure gronkle iron while making it larger so it could fire up to forty arrows at once along with quicker to reload. I now had four of them loaded with my explosive arrows and another four loaded with fire arrows that had yet to be lit with all eight launchers resting in the armory since I didn't want any accidents to happen with my defenses. Speaking of defenses, I had set up even more defenses in the forest besides just using more of my spirit arrows to form traps. I set up netters, rope traps, hidden gronkle iron cages that would lift into the air when it closes on the victim and a whole lot of other traps. I did leave secret tells to show me where they were though so I didn't trigger any of them. Some would say I was being overly cautious but when it came to Dagur and the Berserkers there was no such thing as too cautious.

Presently I was flying over the island with Toothless doing a quick patrol of the area since I didn't know if I'd find anything. The main reason I was doing this though is because Violet, Coal and Rubble were sent out to check this area this morning but she never came back and I was really beginning to worry about her. It was as we flew over one of the beaches I noticed a few things that I figured could be clues so I had Toothless land so we could check it out. I looked around at the beach and could tell someone had been here by the dead fire pit, drag marks in the sand, empty crates and barrels but the thing that really caught my eye was the nadder spine lodged in the sand. I ran up to it before picking up and examining it by taking in every detail I could while turning it around in my hand. Much to my worry I saw it was without a doubt one of Violets spines, which could only mean whoever was here took them but to where and why I didn't know.

It was then something green that was sticking out of the sand caught my eye, figuring it might be a clue as to who did this I walked up and picked it up. I frowned seeing it was an arrowhead that was covered in some strange green substance and after licking it I discovered it was refined dragonroot. My mind then flashed back to the dragon eye and the information it held as I remembered reading something about this type of thing. This stuff could overwhelm a dragon's senses making it near impossible for them to fly and an entire quiver of arrows with heads like this could destroy and entire flock of dragons. Luckily, I knew how to find Violet and the people who took her but when I found them I was going to make them pay for hurting my dragons.

Half an hour later

Using my golden falcons, I was able to find out my dragons were all right but caged on ships that were like the reaper before I altered it. The men who took them were taunting Violet to make her shoot her spines for collection, making Rubble break down stones which were then fed to Coal who they were forcing to make melted iron despite how tired they were. The way they treated my dragons I did not like one bit nor did I like the look of their leader, a bald man who the men called Ryker. As soon as I was able to examine their defenses and use my falcon to check out the other cells that all had caged dragons I got Greta from the island to track them through the scent of Violets spine. I also armed myself with a quiver full of explosive arrows, a belt full of paralyzing and explosive bombs, two gronkle iron swords on my back, my eagle shield on my left arm and all my god made weapons in my prosthetic but I hoped not to expose them. I loaded my prosthetic arm with two lights green, one mist white and one orange crystal.

Now I was once again on Toothless but this time Scorch, Stonetooth, Pyro and Champ were at my sides and Greta was up in front of us leading the way. As we flew the only thing on my mind was freeing all the dragons including my dragons and then sending those ships to the bottom of the ocean. The dragons that were with me knew this and they were eager to help me take these hunters down hard as we could. It was then at this moment the five ships came into view and I called Greta back as I signaled my dragon to be ready for the fight ahead. They all growled before glaring at the ships ahead as I got ready for the fight ahead. When we got closer the men on the ship took notice of us and let loose their arrows as I signaled my dragons to take evasive action. They were all too happy to do so as I directed Toothless towards the lead ship before he swooped down next to the side. He hit one of the mini ballistae with a plasma blast taking it out while also knocking back two of the men while I readied one of my explosive arrows and eagle eye. As we turned up I let the arrow fly destroying one of the ships giant ballista. As we flew higher I looked around and smiled at the sight of my dragons destroying the defenses of the different ships before I decided it was time to free some dragons. I switched Toothless' tail fin to automatic so he could fly on his own and said.

"Get me in close to one of the ships buds and I'll free the caged dragons inside."

He growled as he began flying towards the lead ship as I fired another explosive arrow destroying one of their support ships small ballistae. When we were close enough I hopped off his back and went into a flying kick knocking one of the men over the ships railing and into the water. I ran out of the way of a few arrows that were fired my way and readied another explosive arrow at the three archers standing on the upper deck and let it fly. Not surprisingly they all scattered but weren't fast enough to avoid the blast which sent them each flying. I loaded another arrow before I aimed it at another support ships ballista that was targeting Stonetooth who was barely dodging the bolts fired at him. I let the arrow fly and took it along with the man using it out. It was then I saw four men charging towards me as I loaded another arrow and aimed at the floor in front of them and let it fly. The blast sent them all flying back into the wall while also leaving a large hole in the floor for me to access the lower floor. I ran to the hole as my bow went back into my arm and I took out both of my gronkle iron swords to deal with any threat I ran into on the lower decks.

I towards the hole but as I did two men armed with axes charged at me but I just smiled and ran at them with my swords raised. When I got close to them I dropped to my knees and slid between them as I swung my swords at them sending both tumbling down behind me. I stood up smiling as I turned back to the hole but before I could get closer a man charged at me from the side but I punched him in the gut before I lifted him over my shoulder with my fist and threw him into one of the men trying to hit my dragons with a mini ballista. I then ran up to the ballista and ripped it off the deck before tossing it over the deck so they wouldn't be able to use it again. As I did this another hunter grabbed me from behind as I heard him chuckled but I just slammed my elbow into his gut making him loosen his grip before I used my prosthetic to grab the front of his shirt and then throw him over the railing. I picked my swords back up and turned back to face my enemies but before I could do anything else I heard Scorch roar in pain and turned to see him falling towards one of the ships. I used my eagle eye to get a closer look and saw he took one of those dragonroot arrows in the side and that was all I needed to know why he was falling.

I looked around for any way I could help only to see Stonetooth and Greta going into try and help but get caught with one their grappling hooks. I quickly took my bow and readied an explosive arrow and using my eagle eye aimed for the winches that the chains were connected to and were pulling Greta down. I let the arrow fly and smiled when it hit its intended target sending the men flying while freeing Greta. I loaded another one and repeated the process with the winch that was holding Stonetooth which got the same results but before I could do anything else I heard a chuckled behind me and was quick to make it look like I was tossing my bow over board in quick preparation when I was really putting it back in my arm. I grabbed my swords and turned to see Ryker with one of his swords pointing at me as he said.

"You're a better shot than I thought." I pointed my sword at him.

"And you're men are more annoying than I though but I'll deal with them later."

"Well we already have one of your dragons so don't you think it's time to give up and come quietly?"

"I do and I humbly accept your surrender Ryker!" He glared and charged at me before swinging his sword at me but I blocked it with my sword.

"How'd you know my name?"

"A little birdy told me."

"Well this little birdy should've told you to surrender or the dragons we have are dead." I swung my sword at him but he parried it away. "And so will your nightmare and if you don't believe me just take a look." He pointed at the ship where Scorch went down and much to my horror. "Surrender or the nightmare dies." I knew there was no way my arrows could reach Scorch in time and my dragons were too busy dodging arrows and bolts to get anywhere near him and even if they did he couldn't fly due to the effects of the arrow so I whistled gaining the attention of my dragons and yelled.

"RETREAT!" As I yelled this I signaled with my hands but I saw Toothless croon and hesitate. "I'LL BE FINE BUD JUST GO!" He let out one last croon before flying off with my other dragons following as I turned to face a smirking Ryker.

"We'll hunt them down later but in the meantime we'll deal with you and I think those swords will make good additions to the armory." I glared at him and threw my swords overboard.

"I'd rather they were destroyed then used by the likes of your kind." He just smirked before gesturing his men forward who tied my hands together, took my quiver and dragged me to a cell below deck but once I was in I saw someone I wasn't expecting to see walk past my cell. "Heather?" She turned to face me. "Run!" She turned to me and smiled at me before Dagur stepped out.

"Surprise, did you miss me brother? Of course you did!" He pointed to Heather with both hands. "Oh, do you know our sister?" He lowered his hands and looked up. "Wait a minute!" He looked at me and pointed. "Sure you do, you were both used to be pals." Heather crossed her arms and said.

"Hey, family is family." I just glared.

"I know I should be surprised but I'm not considering how you betrayed me when we first met but this is a new low Heather."

"I know it's not dragons edge or some big mansion but it'll have to do." The cell door closed. "Enjoy your new room Hiccup, since your going to be here a while." I just glared at her as they walked away but once they were out of sight I walked to the back of my cell and sat down to wait.

1 hour later

I was let out of my cell by some guards and Heather before they began pushing me down the hall. As they did I looked back at Heather and said.

"After everything I did for you, this is how you repay me?"

"I thank you for all of that but I have to follow my destiny."

"Betraying me and joining up with these pieces of scum known as the dragon hunters."

"Hey you don't know what it's like to be truly alone, Dagur is my brother and I trust him with my life." I smirked.

"Guess you're not as smart as I thought you were."

"You'd be smart to keep your comments like that to yourself." She walked up to a door that I recognized as one that lead to the commanders quarters. "Ryker wants information and he can be very persuasive." She knocked before a voice I recognized as Ryker said.

"Enter!"

1 hour later

I was shoved back into my cell after being questioned by Ryker and receiving a tour of the ship including being shown where my dragons were. I walked to the back of my cell and sat down as I went over everything that I learnt from my interrogation and tour of the ship. Ryker questioned me on a few things that like where my base was, what dragons I had, how many there were and more but I refused to answer before he had me see how my dragons were treated. Seeing them chained up the way they were made my blood boil. They were forcing Violet to use her spines so they could use them for their ballistae and spears, forcing Coal to make iron all day and night with stones they made Rubble crush and having Scorch chained up so they could harvest his gel for their flaming weapons and torches. Ryker was planning to make me work a bit but Dagur advised him not to since I'd be able to escape while I was out. As I sat there in my cell a smile came to my face as I muttered.

"All according to plan."

It was true I allowed myself to be captured so I could get a better understanding of my enemy while also finding out where they were keeping my dragons. Now that I knew where my dragons were being kept it was time for me to escape and they made it all the easier by not noticing the bombs on my belt, my eagle shield and they still thought my prosthetic was just gold armor. I stood up and walked up to the cell door before climbing to the top and melting the hinges using one of the green crystals but I held the door steady so it wouldn't fall. I saw a guard walking past and said.

"Guard could you please get Ryker there's something I'd like to say to him." He just looked at me and grunted before walking away and coming back two minutes later with Ryker, Dagur and Heather.

"You wanted to say something to me?" I smiled as I put both hands on the cell door.

"Yeah I just wanted to say thanks for the hospitality but I'm done with this room." Before they could question what I meant I pushed the cell door down on top of them pinning all four of them before I jumped on the bars further pinning them as I smiled down at them. "Got to run!"

I then leapt off them and made a run for Ryker's quarters, which is where I knew I could find my quiver so I'd have an easier time taking on the hunters. There's also the fact that down the hall opposite to his quarters were the cells where my dragons were being held. It was then a guard stepped out of one of the cells but when he turned to face me he met my fist making him fall unconscious while dropping his axe with the blade made of the same metal as the cell doors and dragon cages. I picked up the axe since I might need it later on to either fight or free my dragons from their chains. I burst into Rykers quarters and grabbed my quiver from the floor with all my arrows thankfully still in it and putting it over my shoulder. I ran out of the room towards the cells where my dragons were being held punching another hunter out as I ran out the door. The first cell was the one where Violet was being held and the hunters were still taunting her. I reached through the bars and grabbed the one who had the axe that was taunting Violet by the shirt and said.

"Leave her alone!"

I then pulled him into the bars head first knocking him out before I opened the cell door and looked at the one with the shield. He glared at me and pulled out his own axe but I just smirked before pulling my prosthetic back as I used my mist white crystal. I swung my fist forward as he held up his shield to block it but as expected his shield shattered as he was thrown back into the wall. I turned to Violet who squawked in joy to see me as I smiled and said.

"I missed you to girl." I gave her nose a quick rub before turning to the chains. "Let's get you out of here." I brought the axe up and swung it down on the chains cutting them as she squawked in joy as I smiled. "Let's go free the others." She growled before we ran out the cell only to see two men charging down the hall but I smiled. "Violet would you mind?" She just squawked and launcher spines pinning them to the back wall. "Thanks." Freeing the others was easy but once we freed Scorch and made a run for the exit Ryker, Heather and Dagur were waiting for us weapons in hand but I didn't panic as Dagur said.

"Nice try brother but you aren't getting out this way." I smirked at him.

"Well we'll just make our own exit then." I then heard footsteps behind me and turned to see some armed hunters coming towards us as my dragons readied to attack but I signaled them to calm down. "Calm down guys and allow me." I took one of my paralyzing bombs and gently tossed it at them but when it landed at their feet and did nothing they began to laugh until I said. "Wait for it!" The bomb went off freezing them where they stood as Ryker asked.

"What did you do to my hunters?"

"They'll be fine in a few hours but in the meantime." I turned to Violet and Scorch. "Make a new exit guys." They both turned up and blasted the roof leaving a large hole as I mounted Coal. "Let's get out of here."

We all flew up but as we did I released my spirit bow and took out the fire arrow I brought and fired it up into the sky it created a large fiery explosion. After that it was only a few seconds before I heard the all too familiar roar of Toothless as he lead Champ, Greta and Stonetooth towards the ships. I smiled as I loaded one of my explosive arrows and took aim at a set of four archers who were readying their bows. I let the arrow fly and it landed at their feet knocking them all back unconscious as Toothless flew up next to us and I quickly moved from Coal to him and said.

"Good to see you bud." He crooned before I turned to my dragons. "Let's send these guys packing."

They all roared before we began our attack on the ships with all of my dragons hitting the ships with everything they had and with their training the hunters were having a hard time fighting back. It was when Ryker, Dagur and Heather came out from below deck things got interesting. My dragons had a harder time avoiding the hunters with Ryker directing them until I loaded another explosive arrow and fired it towards him. He was able to avoid getting hurt but it gave me and Toothless the opportunity to swoop down towards the opening to the lower deck and drop three explosive bombs down the hole. Soon enough there was an explosion from lower decks as the upper deck shook while parts seemed to fall in with a few hunters falling into the new holes. I repeated the process on the other ships getting the same results while also hitting their ballistae and grappling hook launchers with my explosive arrows and dropping a few paralyzing bombs taking out the men. When all their ships were on fire or close to sinking, nearly all the men unable to fight due to injuries, loss of conscious or being paralyzed. I looked at my dragons and said.

"We've done enough damage for now so let's get back to the edge." They each roared and we took off back to the edge.

Nightfall

I was sitting down on my bed in my pants since I took my armor off earlier. I stared down at my hands holding a letter from Heather that I found in my quiver. I had already read the message from Heather and it was quite enlightening to say the least. She wasn't really joining the dragon hunters but just pretending in order to get closer to Dagur so she could avenge her family. She promised she'd try to help keep me up to date on the dragon hunter's movements along with their future plans. I admit that having a spy in the ranks of the dragon hunters but Heather was still my friend and her being surrounded by so many enemies made me worry about her. My eyes were then drawn to the axe in the corner as I remember what the message from Auden Ausger' said about the Grimborn clan. (AN: Check chapter 15 for the message.) If Ryker really was a member of the Grimborn clan then he is not someone I should take lightly. The fact that him and the hunters now know about me and now consider me an enemy only served to make things more complicated with Dagur. I knew things were going to be a whole lot more difficult now but the first thing I needed to do was inform my dad about what's happened since I wouldn't past them to attack Berk. I fell back on my bed and stared up at the ceiling before I muttered.

"Things are going to be very interesting in the future." I then closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Three weeks later

These past three weeks have been very busy for all of my dragons and me with everything that's been going on besides me putting the axe I got from the hunters in my trophy room back on my island. Things were especially busy for the dragons that help me in the forge with all the upgrades to the edge's defenses. I had upped my defenses by making more catapults and replacing my ballista bolts with explosive ones that would pack a whole lot more punch and should be able to sink a ship with a single hit. On the docks I also prepared a few traps on the docks if the hunters are able to make it onto them like when they begin climbing up one of the ladders if they step onto one of the legs that's really a lever which will cause a wagon full of boulders at the top to tip over and drop the boulders down on the hunter. Another trap was when a hunter stepped on a certain plank a trap door would open up underneath them and drop them right into the water below. I had made two other traps that were triggered the same way but instead of the dock opening up it was the Cliffside that reacted. One would open up multiple slots with crossbows firing arrows down at the dock like the trap on the reaper while the other would make a section of the wall slam out into the hunters knocking them over the sides. I had set up multiple of these traps up along the dock so the hunters were in for some surprises. The safest way up was through a secret passageway I built into the cliff side that lead to a secret staircase that leads up to the top. To go with these offensive defenses I had also built gronkle iron walls around my outpost with the catapults that launch arrows behind them but I feared it wouldn't be enough to stop the hunters.

I wasn't just busy upgrading my outpost's defenses but also helping my dad upgrade Berks defenses, which, he all but demanded I do after I told him what, happened. I was happy to help out with the defenses and showed Gobber how to build the ballista and arrow catapults. Soon enough we were producing a lot of them and having them posted all over Berks cliff sides. Long story short Berk and the Edge was prepared for anything the hunters might decide to throw at them. As for dealing with the hunters in general I'd been upgrading the armor I had for my dragons so those dragonroot arrows wouldn't take them down so easily meaning they wouldn't be put in so much danger. It did take a while to make it so the armor covers their bodies entirely without it becoming itchy for them to wear. I ended up needing the inner part, which covered their skin to be made out of screaming death scales and leather since gronkle iron was so itchy to them that they'd shake it off when I put it on them.

Besides the defenses I had been busy with other things like with discovering how the dragon eye reacted to a combination of both moonlight and Toothless' low burn light. This showed new information on a dragon named the lycanwing, which was said to be able to turn people into dragons, like werewolves. Now I wouldn't have put much thought into this but then I remembered my little fight with Connor in Ireland where I actually witnessed a man become a beast. Still there was something that didn't feel right about this to me so I went to the island the map lead me to only to discover the whole thing was made up to keep people away from the two dragon eye lenses that were there. I admit I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a new dragon species but I still got new lenses.

Another thing that happened was I was called back to Berk to help Snotlout deliver the Jorgensen ceremonial axe to a wedding between house Jorgenson and house Hofferson while also giving Astrid a lift. Normally I wouldn't have bothered since I had the hunters to worry about but my dad had me represent the Haddocks since he was too busy with his chief duties. I couldn't avoid this since the marriage families would've taken it as an insult resulting in a feud between house Haddock and houses Jorgenson and Hofferson. Sadly with Snotlout things rarely ever go smoothly so when we were flying over an island with Snotlout on Scorch and Astrid with me on Toothless Snotlout began messing with the axe that he then accidently dropped. We went looking for it but sadly found it stuck to the armor of a large and very angry dragon which belongs to a species I named 'armorwings' since it melted metal together in order to form a tough armor. Sadly its blast was strong enough to do a number on my dragons eyes so we couldn't fight back that well so we had to retreat making Snotlout complain. I just yelled at him to shut up so I could think of a way to get the axe back but he kept wining about his families axe becoming scrap metal. When he said scrap metal I remembered that we were close to breakneck bog, home of the smokebreaths who could help us. They were happy to see me and were happy to help us get the axe back but sadly they got carried away attacking the armorwing and began taking apart its armor revealing it had no scales. I was able to get the smokebreaths to go back with what they had but the armorwing had already collapsed. Toothless and Scorch offered it some of the remaining iron which it used to cover its exposed parts before we left while it was calm. When we arrived at our destination it was late and everything was in shatters but fortunately it was because of a brawl breaking out at the rehearsal dinner ending the chances of a union. Spitelout was kind enough to take both Snotlout and Astrid home while I went to check up on the armorwing. I am happy to say he is now trained, on my island with the name Bandit and now helps me when it comes to welding. He did bring a few things with him such as some of the gold items I was able to remove from his armor when I helped smooth it out a bit and a new dragon eye lens which surprisingly had information on his species.

Another thing that's happened is Ryker and Dagur tried to kidnap me by sending two of his men to sneak into my base through the forest. As anyone could guess they didn't make it near my outpost and were now cooling their heals in their old cell back on Outcast island muttering about the trees attacking them, Dagur and Ryker got a heavily damaged ship and Alvin preparing some more cells for any hunters I capture. In the past three weeks I am happy to say that this was the only time I've had to deal with them but that changed today. I got a message from Heather that Ryker and the hunters were on Glacier Island in order to capture some Snow wraiths. This is why I was currently in my winter armor flying to Glacier Island myself armed with a gronkle iron sword, my eagle shield and god made weapons including three ice arrows. With me were Toothless, Berg, Shard, Blizzard and Frostbite so in other words Toothless and all my dragons that belonged to species that lived in cold environments. I was hoping since Frostbite was a native and of the same species he'd be able to help find any snow wraiths that still inhabited Glacier Island and let them know of the danger they were in. I also hoped he'd be able to calm them down since I doubt they'll be happy with us for waking them up from their hibernation like Frostbite was. Seriously he roared so loud at me I was flung back into the wall of the ice cave in Glacia's nest he built to hibernate in but once I told him what was happening I doubt anyone could've stopped him from coming with us. It was at that moment Glacier Island came into view as I smiled and said to my dragons.

"Let's go save some snow wraiths." They all growled in confirmation before we flew full speed ahead with Frostbite leading the way.

1 hour later

I had met up with Heather half an hour ago when she updated me on what's been going on recently with the hunters on the island and gave me an idea on where the Snow wraiths might be hiding. This brings us to where we are now which is in an ice cave that leads to where the snow wraiths were sleeping while the hunters were at the entrance with their bows at the ready. Ryker had already sent in three men but as expected my dragons and me were able to get them with a surprise attack before sliding them back out on the ice. If Rykers angered yell was anything to go by he was not happy about this, especially with the curses he was using but I wouldn't let that bother me. I turned to Frostbite and said.

"Go and find the other Snow wraiths and be ready to help them escape." He growled and nodded before he flew deeper into the ice cave as I turned to my other dragons. "You guys be ready for a fight since I highly doubt this is over." They all growled and nodded while I looked around the corner to see the entrance where Ryker was walking in with his blade in hand as he yelled.

"DRAGON RIDER, COME OUT SO WE CAN TALK!" I wasn't all that eager to do so knowing it might be a trap until he said. "HICCUP HADDOCK, LET'S TALK THIS OUT LIKE MEN!" He slammed his sword into the ice in front of him which made me all the more nervous but if there's one chance to settle this without bloodshed then I have to try so I began walking but when Toothless tried to follow me I turned to face him.

"No bud!" I patted his head. "If this is a trap I need you all to be ready to help get me out of it." He growled and nodded as did my other dragons before I walked from behind the corner in front of Ryker who smirked at me as I stabbed my sword into the ground in front of me.

"Dagur was right you don't look much but you can cause a lot of trouble if what you did to my ships was anything to go by."

"The feelings mutual but why don't we save each other some time and just skip to the part where you tell me what you want." He chuckled.

"Straight the point ay?" I just glared at him. "I want the dragon eye!"

"Not on your life!"

"It belongs to us, the hunters and you stole it from our ship and I will have it back." I glared at him.

"Not today you won't!"

"Oh no?" He gestured to the ice cave. "Look around." He gestured behind himself. "We're in front of you,"

He pointed behind me. "the Snow wraith is behind you." He lowered his hand and glared at me. "One time offer, hand over the dragon eye and you're free to go." I crossed my arms.

"Do you honestly think I'd bring the dragon eye with me on my travels."

"In that case surrender and you won't meet the same fate as your dragons."

"Do you honestly think I'd trust a member of the Grimborn clan?" He glared at me. "I know all about your clan Ryker and I know not to trust you if the message from Auden Ausger' was anything to go by." He raised an eyebrow.

"Who's Auden Ausger'?"

"He was the one who took the dragon eye in the first place and it was his family that created it but he found the beauty of dragons and refused to allow his families creation to be further used to harm the dragons." He waved his hand gesturing me to go on. "He wanted to protect the dragons and when I found his he left a message in the form of a lens that asked me not to allow the dragon eye to fall into the hands of you hunters or to trust anyone from the Grimborn clan." He smirked.

"Sounds like he was a weakling who couldn't bring himself to hurt the beasts but I offer you one more chance to surrender." I rubbed my golden prosthetic secretly taking out one of my ice arrows incase Ryker tried something.

"I actually think he was a man who saw how dragons could help us and my offer is you leave now and your men won't find out what you look like in a block of ice." He just glared at me.

"Don't say I didn't give you a chance."

He leaned down to pick up his swords handle but when he did a light shone from behind him showing an archers shadow on the roof proving this to be a trap. It was then and arrow flew at me but I dodged it and soon enough more arrows were flying at me but my dragons took them down and distracted the hunters. This gave me the opportunity to release my spirit bow unseen so I was able to load the ice arrow and fire it at the ceiling. The result as expected was tons of ices falling from the ceiling in the form of a cave in on top the hunters. This drove the hunters off but left us trapped but I'm sure Frostbite and the other Snow wraiths could help us find or make a way out of this cave. I turned around to face my dragons as I put my bow away and said.

"Let's go see how Frostbite's doing with the other Snow wraiths."

They all growled before we began walking through the tunnels. When we reached the end of the tunnels I found Frostbite with two other Snow wraiths but when I saw how they were acting with each other I knew that they all knew one another. When me and my dragons entered the cave however the two other Snow wraiths growled and looked ready to kill us if their roars and the way they looked ready to blast us was any indication. Fortunately Frostbite got in front of us and spread his wings before roaring as if he was telling them to hold their fire. He growled at them a bit before they calmed down and looked at us for a moment before turning back to Frostbite and lowering their heads. I could tell they had a high respect for him as I walked up and gave him a pat on the neck while saying.

"Thanks big guy." He just growled as I turned to the two snow wraiths. "We need to get these guys out of here before the hunters are able to dig through the cave in." He growled and nodded as he roared at them and they roared back before much to my shock they began burrowing into the ground. "Did not know they could do that." I turned to my dragons. "Let's get out of here guys." They each growled as I mounted Toothless before we took off into the tunnels after them.

There turned out to be a maze of tunnels down below so we got a little lost along the way but when we were able to break the surface my blood ran cold at what I found. I found nets, discarded dragonroot arrows, some barrels, some crated and a knocked over dragon proof cage, all evidence that the hunters were here and had caught the snow wraiths including Frostbite. Fortunately from my chat with Heather I knew where they docked their ship meaning I might be able to intercept them before they got to their ship and with the snow storm providing cover I'd be able to catch them by surprise. We took off as fast as we could and were able to find them just as the storm let up meaning I'd lose the element of surprise but it also made seeing them easier and I did not like what I saw. The two snow wraiths were caged at the back while Frostbite was netted and being dragged by the hunters, which made my blood boil to the point that where I was pretty sure I wouldn't need my armor to stay warm. I then noticed an ice sheet above the hunters and smiled as I released my spirit bow and took out one of my two remaining ice arrows. I readied the arrow and aimed at the sheet as I muttered.

"Let's see how you hunters handle an avalanche." I let the arrow fly and when it struck the ice barely a second went by before it all came down on the hunters who ran from not only the falling ice but the snow wraiths bringing a smile to my face as I turned to my dragons. "Get the snow wraiths out of here while the hunters are distracted." They each growled and all swooped down with each of them grabbing one of the cages or in Frostbites case then net before flying away to the higher levels of the mountain while I looked down at Ryker. "Did you honestly think it'd be that easy with me around Ryker?"

He just glared at me as Heather and Windshear flew down to scoop him up and took off with him but I knew it would look suspicious if we didn't follow so we took off after them. We dodged the arrows Ryker fired at us but when he was out we fired a plasma blast for good measure to make things look more realistic. We then let them go before flying up to meet with my other dragons and free the snow wraiths from their cages and net.

Nightfall

I was sitting in my observation building staring into the flames of the fireplace I built in the center of a table. While I watched the flames dance in the fireplace I went over everything that happened after I saved the snow wraiths. As expected I was quick to train them after learning they were actually Frostbite's siblings with one being his brother and the other his sister. I gave Frostbites brother the name Avalanche since I was sure he could cause an avalanche with his burrowing and his sister the name Snowbell because to me she was as beautiful as the flower. I could tell the difference between them easily since Frostbites wings and spines were white while Avalanche's wings and spines were an ice blue and Snowbell's wings and spines were a very light yellow as were her eyes and her pelt was purple that was almost white. They were all now back on my island and once again hibernating in the stable I made for my ice dragons but this time I'm sure nothing would disturb them. There was still however something Heather told me about the leader of the dragon hunters. Apparently he was a man named Viggo Grimborn and every member of the dragon hunters feared him for some reason but I knew if Ryker feared him then he was definitely going to be someone to keep an eye out for especially now that I knew they wanted the dragon eye and they know I have it.

AN: Hey everybody I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and I will begin work on the next one as soon as I can think of a way to alter Edge of disaster and of course Maces and Talons so they fit into the story. If you have ideas please let me know and if there are episodes you want please let me know and I will see what I can do. Till next time have a nice day.
